    Lamb Burger

I was craving some spicy dumplings and decided to give Wild Ginger a shot. The place is small, but I went on a not so busy random weekday for lunch so there were tables available to sit at. I ordered the Lamb Burger and the Pork Dumplings in Spicy sauce and to my pleasant surprise - also received a most delicious complimentary cold noodle dish. The dumplings were good. I am biased in my review because the flavor wasn't exactly what I was craving for, but overall the dumpling was decent. Not as spicy as it sounds at all. The lamb burger was a bit too dry for my taste. I added the sauce from the pork dumplings to the burger to try to give it a bit more moisture. It was just eh. On the contrary, the complimentary noodles were extremely well done. It had a pickled taste to it and was absolutely perfect to have on hot day. It cooled me down and I felt like my electrolytes were getting a recharged.

Been here several times! It will not disappoint!!! The pulled noodles and dumplings are my go to! The chile oil is sooooo good and they sell it in a jar to take home! We came for lunch and dined inside. It's a small little space that feels very cozy and we got the tiger salad with the pork dumplings and the lamb slider. It came with one, but these sliders are huge and well worth it. Located right off of Park Street where you can walk off your food in the neighborhood by visiting nearby shops. There is no parking lot but street parking in the neighborhood is available. The restaurant I believe is family owned and very friendly and helpful!

Came here after an outing in Alameda since I was craving noodles. I found this small local restaurant that sold malatang and biang biang noodles. The noodles were made well however I wish it had more taste. It was bit bland in my opinion, I also got the cumin lamb but felt like there wasnt much lamb in it. It was a pretty average spot. I probably would not be back since there are other places that does have the similiar type of noodles with more flavor. Service was good though very attentive and quick.

Visited this spot after a hike, and it was just what we needed! Refreshing appetizers and carbs. We shared the Spicy Cucumber Salad and the Spicy & Sour Pork Dumplings in Sauce as starters. The cucumbers were my favorite--refreshing and nicely pickled (sweet and tangy). The sauce in the cucumber salad had a lot of chili oil and peppers though, so warning to those with sensitive tummies. The dumplings were good, but the Cucumber Salad stood out more. For the main dish, I had the Spicy & Tingly Beef Soup. The beef was very flavorful, and the noodles were thick. However, the broth was a bit on the lighter side, balances out the beef. It would have been nice to have extra condiments available to adjust the flavor to taste. This is a good spot for your spicy cravings. Parking is a bit packed but not impossible- you might need to park a bit further and walk over to the area.

We were in the area looking for a lunch spot and stumbled upon Wild Ginger. I love biang biang noodles, and theirs looked really good, so I decided to give them a try. Unfortunately, I was a bit disappointed. The noodles were too doughy and slightly soggy, and they did not have the chewy bounce and texture I was hoping for. The sauce was just okay as well and did not stand out much. The ambience was pretty standard, but the staff were friendly and even gave us a complimentary appetizer, which was appreciated. Overall, it was okay but I'm not sure I'd revisit.

Small little shop located on Park St. Inside, there's a few tables so there might be a wait if it's busy. Service is very fast and food came out quickly. We ordered the pork dumplings and it was delicious! Loved the sauce it came in and the dumpling were good size. We also got the spicy tingly beef in sauce noodles and they were delicious. Noodles were bouncy and had a good bite to them. The beef was tender and good. The sauce itself was spicy and tingly but not too crazy in my opinion. Perfect level of heat and tingly. Overall, the menu is great and love that you can get soup or sauce. The dumplings are solid as well. Service was good and fast. Will be back!

Delicious hand-pulled noodles in a small mom & pop restaurant. Great for pairs or possibly 4. Many small parties in and out for lunch even on a rainy day (a testament to how good the food is!). Really nice service. Will be back!

Finally had the opportunity to try Wild Ginger while in Alameda and it did not disappoint. I've heard so many great things about this spot from reviews to word-of-mouth. Also, Park St. in Alameda is just so charming..a win/win all around. Yes the reviews are correct ~ you can hear the slaps in the kitchen of hand-pulled noodles being prepared fresh. On the menu you can find cold noodle dishes, and hand-pulled noodles used for dishes in sauce with protein or in a warm soup with protein/veggies. There are also ramen noodle dishes, dumpling dishes in sauce or soup, and delicious street food like the pork or lamb burgers. Service is quick, pricing is extremely fair, and this is the type of heart happy spot supporting small business/super cool hole-in-the-wall IYKYK moment. The stewed pork burger (similar to a meat pocket) was so flavorful and juicy, with a crunch of veggie, I could have ordered a few more if it wasn't a quick pit-stop for lunch. Delicious. Our party ordered a cold noodle dish and warm soup, both so different, but comforting and enjoyed. Also, the pork dumplings in the spicy & sour sauce are super yummy. I noticed they also sell homemade spicy sauce for purchase. Looking forward to returning next time I'm craving the noods. Metered parking can be found along Park Street and the corresponding side streets.

We came here on a Sunday for lunch and it was moderately busy. Parking can be tough since it is all street parking but it didn't take us more than 10-15 min. It is a pretty small place but orders come out relatively quick. We ordered the dan dan noodles and the spicy mixed veggie hand pulled biang biang noodles. If you don't do spice well, the hand pulled noodle dishes may not be for you, but since I shared this bowl with my partner who does spice better than me, it wasn't as bad. These noodles were thickkk and it complemented the dish well since it was a spicy chili sauce. They also put wood ear mushrooms, some lettuce, and lotus root. The dan dan noodles weren't as spicy and were actually quite plain compared to the hand pulled noodle bowl. Overall, cool spot to get some noodles - whether you like em thick, thin, spicy, or more on the plain side!

This no-frills East Bay noodle spot delivered on their basics. Their pulled noodles had great texture with the right amount of bounce - not gummy like you sometimes get elsewhere - though the sauce could have used more depth of flavor. The wontons were well-executed with good filling and sauce. I was impressed with the cold liangpi noodles which hit the spot on a hot day. The texture of the liangpi was on point and it had the right amount of acidity. Service was attentive and kept our water glasses full. Worth coming back for another visit!

This place is great, I seen a social media influencer post about it and thought id give it a try. The noodles are the perfect amount of chewy and thick ;3. I really loved the freshness of the cucumber salad also. It was like a sweet sauce on top i probably could have ate 4 orders of it. The service was quick and the employees are also very nice. The place is a little small inside but a perfect size. I ate there on a weekday midday, and it wasn't that busy so that was a plus. I was very satisfied and the portions are enough to share with another person if you aren't super hungry. I think about this place every day since i've been. I honestly can't wait to go back :) Food 10/10 Service 10/10 Ambience; Cozy comforting

===TL;DR=== - Spicy beef noodle soup - Hand pulled biang biang noodles - Pork dumpling in sauces - Complimentary spicy cucumber salad ===TMI=== For some reason, I feel like social media overly glamorize this place. Once you step in, they're a very mom & pop shop. Semi open kitchen & there's a small seating nook next to the door. Greeted by cute & friendly staffs. Before anything else, they gave us a complimentary plate of cold spicy cucumber salad. Omggggeeeeee, that was the best cucumber salad I've had. They nailed the seasoning & spices to a tee. The perfect balance of sweet & vinegary umami, and spicy! Best thing to stimulate your appetite. We tried their classic noodles both wet and dry. Loved the home cook feeling but was lacking some flavors. I think the flavor profiles were on the mild end & I feel like it was missing a kick in there somewhere. It could be the cumin or the spice or maybe it catered towards a general crowd. Though the meat was tender! Nonetheless, it was certainly filling. Oh, the dumplings were stuffed!!! So that was great.

This was one of the worst dining experiences I've had on the island…read more I was shuffled between at least five different employees just to get seated, place an order, get a drink, and finally receive my food. I was dining alone and ordered only shrimp dumplings and a glass of Chardonnay, yet the wait was excessive. The wine arrived in what looked like a tasting-sized pour, and at $16 a glass, it felt particularly disappointing--especially since it was the only white wine option available. The restaurant itself felt neglected. The tables were wobbly, the décor was dated, there was a noticeable cigarette smell, and I even had to replace my own chopsticks after noticing lipstick on the pair initially provided. After waiting so long for my food, I stood up to ask for my check and cancel the order. At that point, the dumplings suddenly appeared, along with an offer of a fried bun as compensation. I declined and suggested they at least comp the wine given the experience, but they did not. The final bill was nearly $30 for a mediocre glass of wine and shrimp dumplings that were undercooked and unappetizing enough that I threw them away after a few bites. If you're looking for a quick meal before a movie, I'd strongly recommend going elsewhere. This was a disappointing waste of both time and money.

For my birthday dinner, I requested Bhan Mae Vane. I had heard wonderful things, and as a fan of…read moreLaotian food, I wanted to come with my family to see the hype. We came on a weekday evening, and it was packed! The sound travels here so that it can get really loud and busy. The inside is super casual with seating for large or smaller groups. The service by the staff was good. Our food came out quickly, and everyone was friendly and checked in on us. We ordered the Tom Kha, Nam Khao, Fried Clear Rice Paper Roll Wraps, Pineapple Khao Pad, and Geng Ka Ree. Everything was fabulous! Lots of great flavors and spices. The portion sizes were spot on. My favorite was the Nam Khao and the Fried Clear Rice Paper Roll Wraps. I love the bite-sized and sharing family-style. My companion and family also enjoyed it. If you like Laotian food, Bhan Mae Vane is a must-try in the East Bay! Find them off Webster Street with street and neighborhood parking. I look forward to going back!

Do you like the funk?…read more Our server explained to us the Lao version is more funky and fermented, while the Thai version is more mellow. We went with the Lao version. The Thai iced coffee was delicious and strong! As it should be. It did give me the jitters though because I'm a weak sauce. We were a party of ten and I was able to make rezzies via phone for a Friday evening at 6:30pm no problem about a week beforehand. The kiddos ordered à la carte, and five of us adults had the following: - BMV ultimate papaya platter with Lao sausage, angel wings and crispy pork. Crispy pork was legit, papaya salad definitely had that extra funk. The angel wings were crispy and meaty and my friends loved the Lao sausage. One even said "it's like tom yum soup in a sausage". It was very lemongrass forward which is not my thing, but that's my problem. I feel we could have ordered à la carte and that would have been a better deal than $75 for the platter. Some of it was fluff like the cabbage, rice and pork rinds. - Khao soy soup: Fiancé thought it would be creamy and coconut-y like the Thai version but it wasn't. I did enjoy the flat noodles but they were all stuck together. - Pia pla ka pow (fish with basil): Good one. The fish was moist and flavorful. The veggies were al dente and delicious too. - Sakoo: Unique! I enjoyed the chewy mochi exterior and the savory ground pork filling. It needed a sauce. I just used the chili sauce that was on the party platter. - Laab Gai: This fell flat for me. I'm not a huge fan of organs though. - Nam khao fried rice: One of our favorites! The crispy pieces really made this dish. Would definitely order this again. - Mango sticky rice: Served warm. Very sweet mango! - Purple rice with egg custard: Also served warm. This was ok. - Side of rice: HUGE serving! Unfortunately it was clumpy and hard, which means old. Street parking only. Get the nam khao and mango sticky rice!
