I wanted to like Rosedale BBQ. I really did. But at the end of the day, I don't see myself ever returning. Why? The sauce. Very thin with little flavor. Hot and spicy sauce? The same flavor profile, just add heat. So disappointing. Ribs were tender and juicy, but not flavorful. However, the sausage and burnt ends were amazing! The sides were solid. Normally, I'd add sauce to elevate the game, but that was not to be. Several good things here, but when the sauce game is off, it is very difficult to recover and that was the problem here. So sad - I wish things could have been different...

When ever I'm in KC, this is the place we go to. We have been going here for 30+ years and it stands the test of time. It's an order at the counter type of place with friendly staff. You can find a seat anywhere- booth, bar stool at the counter, or high top seating. The BBQ decor all around the place is hilarious and fits the vibe perfectly. Rosedale's does something amazing to their meat-it's tender, juicy, and smoked really well- that you really can't get this taste anywhere else. They clearly know what they're doing as they've been in business since 1934. Their tagline is "bon-a-fide Kansas City Bar-B-Q" and that is 100% accurate. We split a chopped beef sandwich. Amazing. Delicious. We also split a small container of cheesy potato bake. Heavenly. They also have a wide selection of drinks- RC Cola anyone?! When in Kansas-this is your stop! Anthony Bourdain even thought so!

Rosedale seems to have a 'love it' or 'hate it' relationship with people around Kansas City, but I don't think I live in either of those camps. The burnt ends I had were extremely dry and chewy on my sandwich and I don't see myself ever eating them again. The ribs however had a lot better texture but they were essentially flavorless, so I'm not sure if they are using any rubs or not. There are items on the wall inside that say "Don't Forget the Sauce", and that's quite true as that is what I needed to get more flavor on the ribs. So, I can honestly say that I am not in the 'love it' camp, but I didn't hate it either as the ribs were okay. I think this means that there is definitely room for improvement in the food department, but there are also areas that are brighter than others. The staff was also super friendly, and I love the idea of a family-owned, neighborhood BBQ spot. You can see more of our experience on our YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/mBFahcA-sIM

Place was pretty warm inside even on a nice cool day. Seating was open though chairs and tables were pretty close together. Had received our food pretty fast and was fresh tasting on some part. Didn't have much flavor as I would except for barbecue. You got up to the counter and order and bring your food to table. Mostly all drinks are bottled no fountain drinks.

SERVICE WAS SO FAST TODAY! BEST BBQ IN THE CITY. NEVER MISSES! the perfect place. love the environment. shoutout the ladies behind the counter always taking my order. they get shit done.

Had to visit one of my all time favorites while in KC. First visit was at the former location right next door. Built the new improved facility and tore down the old one. Yep it was long ago. Still the same flavor as always. The ordering at the counter and immediately getting the food is perfect. Had my combo on sliced bread, a special order and it was ready in less than a minute. Oh and the fries. Hot and crispy, wow. With the BBQ sauce, a taste sensation for sure. She had her favorite burnt ends platter. So much food. Beans, slaw and sliced bread. Rosedale's serves lots of hard working folks in short order. Get your food, enjoy it and back to work. They have this so figured out. So mosey on down to Southwest Boulevard and try an old time favorite. You're going to love it.

Rosedale is not one of my top five bbq spots in KC but it is a staple. I feel like they are very similar to Wyandotte BBQ but imho Wyandotte is slightly better. I hadn't been in several years but decided to check it out again since I was nearby. I ordered a combo sandwich with chopped beef and sausage. The meat doesn't have a lot of smoke or char flavor and was a bit dry. The sausage was good sized and was just split open. The sausage was definitely my favorite between the two meats. The size of the sandwich is good for the amount of money you pay. We also tried the fries which were great and probably the favorite of the sides. The Mac and cheese had no flavor and I would skip this in the future. I also didn't care for the beans but I'm picky about bbq beans. The fried mushrooms were average and again, I probably wouldn't order them again. The whole pickle was good and I liked that it was quartered. I ordered my dogs a hot dog and they seemed to throughly enjoy it. If you're a KC native and haven't checked them out, do give them a try. They have low prices and good sized portions but definitely not the best bbq in KC.

We came to Rosedale Barbeque based on the recommendation of a friend while in town, but also heard a lot of buzz about it while in the area! We came late towards the end of the night, and they were kind enough to give us a little complimentary sampler since it was our first KC barbeque experience! Therefore, we tried so so much that I'll try to summarize as follows - - Faves: Variety of sliders to try different meats, sliced turkey, and CHEESY MASHED POTATOES - Mid: Fries were okay (but take out to be fair), pulled chicken was just okay Overall, the menu is huge so you can find your faves and sauce them up to your liking. Just always always get the cheesy potatoes!

I was worried about the mixed reviews but this place is some solid bbq. The meat, the sides, the service all holds up. Coleslaw was nice and sweet, beans are savory, and the Mac and cheese is actually edible when it usually grosses me out at other places. The sauce has a strong kick, they have an even spicier sauce which is also good. This place doesn't win any awards but certainly doesn't deserve the negative reviews.

For a brewery with a maximum occupancy of 83 and an engagement party in the back with 70 people scheduled to attend...you can immediately see the issue. Not to mention the number of kids at this place, now I get it, it was around dinner time it wasn't 9pm however, one of the parties seemed to be a child's birthday party, um what? And why? What an odd place to pick for your sons like 5th birthday (excuse me I am not great at determining ages of snot nosed toddlers nor, do I want them roaming around the brewery I'm at). With all of this being said, the beer was fairly decent and the beef sandwiches were divine. If it was nicer outside, it was still pretty nippy outside and spring hadn't sprung yet, then they have a big patio and outdoor area that could have been utilized. Case in point if your brewery only holds 83 people and you book a 70 person party- number one, just don't. Number two, use business logic and common sense and make it a rule that parties over a certain number have to rent out the space entirely for a private party. And number three, most definitely don't double book your business- heck in this case triple book (with the Saul's pop up bound to bring in a tier of customers you don't normally have) The sour beer was our favorite because, it was only slightly tart and zesty with slight citrus notes, it wasn't too sour and sharp. It was easy to drink which sometimes sour beers are not. I would order this again however, both the IPAS I tried were just okay...the New England one I preferred more, the hop profile was more in line with a slightly piney taste, it was fine.

My friend and I stopped in recently on a snowy day and the place was lively and the service was on point. I forgot they had curly fries which are indeed the most superior fry in the game so, that's a big plus for me. But, what really shone through was the Chicken Caesar Wrap, it was filling and fresh. I've been on the hunt for a standout Chicken Caesar Wrap ever since they really started trending online and this one hit most of the right marks. The grilled chicken wasn't rubbery and the ratio of protein to lettuce was on point. I enjoyed that the creamy tangy caesar dressing wasn't too plentiful, if it's overdone then the wrap becomes soggy. The only thing that would have upped the ante would have been if the tortilla was grilled because it was a tad gummy. Other than that this wrap checked all the boxes. The curly fries on the out hand were near perfection, seasoned just like one of my favorite fast food restaurants and crispy without being oily. The Bar is what its namesake says, it's a neighborhood joint that serves "bar food" nothing stuffy or fancy but, great drinking food...or if you're not drinking your loss...still, the American classics are done right and you shouldn't be disappointed if you order an appetizer, burger or wrap here.
