Asked around where to go and everyone pointed me this direction. Roses has a large selection, the best prices and very fresh indeed. We enjoyed our day in Seabrook looking around and we ended up walking to every fish market on the row to check them all out. We liked Roses best. Our shrimp we boiled was the best I've had in a very long time and I will never buy my seafood anywhere else. It's sad to find out how I got ripped off in the grocery store for frozen/thawed seafood but thankful I can end it now. Going back in a few weeks to buy some salmon for the grill. Yesterday I bought lump blue crab meat and upon reading the container today found it to be imported from Venezuela. Not as fresh and sweet as our local blue crab and full of shells, but what can you expect when it is imported and lacks a sell by date on the packaging. Shrimp were gorgeous but had a slight chemical smell and taste - not a fresh sweet smell. I love Rose's! I've grown up on the gulf coast and have a love for fresh seafood and Rose's is my go-to fish market. Beautiful, fresh whole fish, giant gulf shrimp, oysters, crab, crawfish, always fresh and in season. Good prices and great service, they are always friendly and ready to help! I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes to get helped at the counter. I've never had anything from them that wasn't delicious. They also sell a variety of seasonings and cooking supplies so its a one stop shop. The building is nice, bright and clean, no dirty tanks, just fresh fish on ice. They will filet it, skin it, scale it, so you can get it however you want. We usually keep it whole and grill it - so so good y'all. Highly recommended! read more

I have been comming here for years. I have occasionally uses some of thier neighbors when rose's was busy and suffered dearly for it. You can not beat their product turn over and the prices are usually a bargain. They are fast, super polite and knowledgeable about making recommendations. I can not say enough nice things about them. FRESH FRESH FRESH! As fresh as a seafood market can get. It may smell like fish but it is clean and has a very good selection of seafood. I went here for crawfish, and Rose's does indeed have the all around lowest price. However, there is one BUT for this review. For better quality, they are extortionists. I was looking for 100 lbs of crawfish but they only had two sacks left. 1 regular mix and one jumbo. Mind you, both sacks were in the 33-34 lbs range. The only difference was that the jumbo sack had bigger crawfish. The price went up for crawfish at the time I went so I bought the regular mix sack for $1.99 a pound, and they said the sack of jumbo crawfish would be $100. More than $3 a pound? I went across the street to check for cheaper crawfish and I'm glad I did. They had jumbo crawfish there and they were HUGE at $2.19 a pound. If you want the really cheap stuff during crawfish season, call to reserve it the Thursday before and you better not mind some of the smallest mudbugs you ever did see. read more

Three words folks: Canadian wild salmon. It looked like it was brought in that day. Eyes and skin so clear and the smell of the fresh sea. Of course we picked it up. What's great about Rose's Seafood Market is they will scale and cut the fish as you request and pack ice so that your purchase stays fresh. We asked them to scale it and gut it but kept everything. We all know that the tasty meat of the fish, particularly on wild fish salmon and tuna are near the bones and cheek. We took our catch of the day straight over to my friends and what can I say... It was one of the best salmon sashimi dinner's I've ever had. So fresh! So clean! So tasty! New to area, everyone told me if I wanted the best seafood I should go to Rose's Seafood. When I went to the street, there were like 3 or 4 more seafood places. I had time and decided to check them all out while I was there. I wanted to make sure all the reviews about Rose's was right. I went store to store checked out the prices, wrote them down, and made sure the stuff looked fresh. I rather pay a little more for some fresh seafood. First placed I stopped was Pier 8. Fried food was good, fresh seafood very over price, looked a day old, and only a very few selection. Nothing you can't get at the grocery markets. I just ate the fried food. Second place called Golden Seafood smelled and really stinked. I know it's a seafood store, but there's fresh seafood smell and just bad seafood smell. I went inside anyways, the selection was just okay very basic. Shrimp pretty good price and price a little high side on the fish (tilapia and catfish) and live crabs. Second stop was Baybrook, the place smelled better, smaller than Golden, and cleaner. Selection very limited also and shrimp price seemed higher than Golden especially the big shrimp. Some of the fish were a few cents cheaper than Golden. Went all the way down the street, tried TH. The place was average too. They did have a lot more fish selections. Price same as Baybrook and shrimp comparable but didn't carry too many live products. Also, it took awhile for someone to ask me if I needed help compared to the other 3 places. Finally, I figured I saved the best for last and really do a comparision on Rose's. First, I was truly amazed by their variety of stuff. They had a wall full of frozen stuff (fish fillets, to king crabs (my favorite), to lots of sushi stuff I didn't see at the other place. The seasoning selection was massive! Now, for the real stuff I wanted. The crabs were huge compared to the other places and price was cheaper! Started picking out 5 crabs but couldn't resist and ended up with 8! :) The shrimp was truly fresher looking than the other places and price was good because I got a discount for buying 5 lbs and they offered ez peeling for free! Nice. I decided to not buy fish, b/c no more room in the ice chest.. But will definetly come back for fish next week. Fish choices looked so good especially the salmon - the sales guy told me it was from Scotland and sushi grade. All in all, this is the best place to go. I stopped by here first because of the good reviews. However, it was a little disappointing. They didn't have many fresh fish selection, mostly frozen farm raised fish. I walked to other stores. There're about 7 of them on the strip. They are very close to each other. TH by far had the most fish selection I wanted, but not the shrimp. If you have time, check around before buying, each of the store has slightly different selection and price. read more

I went to Rose's today to get some fresh fish to cook for Christmas. My mother and I entered and were not greeted by anyone, nor did we know exactly how it worked. We got in line and asked a couple of others in line how we order and they told us you just wait until the next available employee gets to you. Eventually a rude Asian woman who spoke in grunts and mumbles addressed us "You ready?!" I asked her what the difference was between the red snapper on one end vs. the other. Her answer was unintelligible. We asked her to repeat herself twice and the grunts got increasingly louder and we finally realized she said "this one from gulf, this from bay". Then she threw her hands up and walked away to serve someone else. We left right after that. There is no way I'm going to spend my money in a place that can't be bothered to answer questions and serve me with patience and a smile. read more

But what happened today, December 27, 2016 at 4:03 PM has changed all of that! We stopped to get some of their red shrimp and I asked to use the restroom. I was given the directions to the restroom and opened the door to the restroom doorway when out of the men's restroom door (only one door) walked one of the male "shrimp/fish case" workers still wearing his two thick rubber gloves! Nasty! Nasty! Surely this has to be the "worst" kind of health code violation! I reported the incident to the middle aged female who seemed to be in charge. Consumer beware. These guys tried to cheat me on my live crawfish. They change the weight of the bags to get more money. My bag was 31 lbs and they marked it as 37 lbs. I will never go back. We have been to roses several times. Every time they "clean" a fish for us, it still has tons of bones and skin left over. Sometimes they do not take the skin off at all even when you request it. I've seen them take customers that were in line after me because they do not want to clean the fish leaving me waiting almost an hour. One time they charged us too much for our shrimp when we actually should have gotten the bulk price because we ordered more to get the lower price. We did not realize until we got home, we tried to call and they hung up on us about 10 times. We decided not to return after that. read more

Originally from Southern Louisiana, so accustomed to "FRESH" seafood, but this is FAR from it... I came here on a weekend and saw kids playing with the fish, hands all over stuff. The temp inside was very warm, and stuff DID NOT smell fresh. We purchased shrimp and snapper, despite my reservations, but ended up having to throw it away. Please don't waste your money. All of the stores in this immediate area seemed to be connected/owned by the same people, and didn't have a very appeasing selection of seafood. I gave it two stars, because perhaps it could be considered a good bait shop? read more

Went here yesterday for some fresh fish. I picked out my whole flounder, sea bass, king fish and lots of other fish, told the guy that I want it scaled and gutted. It took about 15 mins for them to supposed "clean" the fish and call out number. After checking out and paying for the fish, I got home and realized that every fish was full of scales and I had to cut out the heads of over 10 whole fishes. All they did was gut the fish... I guessed that is why they took so long. If you go back make sure you leave with what you asked for since it took like over an hour to clean the fish which is totally a waste of time for me. It was difficult to check to see what they were doing in the back and I could not look at the fish before paying for it so God only know what they did there. read more
