I came on a Saturday afternoon to make some work I had to do a little more enjoyable and it was perfect. This place almost always has several patrons, but it isn't packed. There is a lot of seating indoor and in front as well as in a parklet. There are a couple heat lamps for the outdoor seating. There seems to always be a place to sit but it can certainly get a little noisy. They have a decent variety of wine, beer, cider and non alcoholic options with some food options as well. You order at the bar, where the tablet is located. I asked a staff member for a recommendation and she gave me a sample of two wines to help me decide, both of which were great recommendations for what I was looking for. Whenever I stop by the vibes here always feel warm and cozy mixed with great pours - what more can you ask for? They have a great selection of beers, wines, and bites to select from. I tried the Jewels Hazy IPA, which was created by the owner, and it was so good. I'm used to IPAs being very hoppy but this one had more subtle hops with fruit forward notes. They have both an indoor and outdoor space making plenty of room to enjoy with friends or a solo date at the counter. I appreciate how there are also other faves nearby to stop by after you grab a drink here. read more

I had just dropped off my ballot across the street and was looking for a place to sit for a bit and finish signing Easter cards for my family. I walked into Roses' and saw a display of yellow pamphlets (the menu). I picked one up and started looking through it. Immediately, one of the bartenders (with a dark, curly bob) told me quite rudely to move across the room. I looked behind me, ready to apologize, but I wasn't causing a traffic jam of any sort. Came here for the happy hour beers ($1 off beers). I really enjoyed the decor, very different from any other taproom I've been to with lots of indoor plants. Roses' taproom seems calm with a special charm, a small space with some people studying/working on laptops and others enjoying the company. I liked their menu a lot which had beers, wines, ciders, non-alcoholic drinks, sandwiches and charcuterie a la carte it seemed. We tried 2 beers, the Terracotta and the Wish You Were Here beers. Both beers tasted great! The terracotta was a marzen beer with honey and malt and slight hoppiness. The Wish You Were Here was a tropical hazy IPA with modest hops and fruit flavors. The fruit flavors weren't extreme, great balance in the hazy IPA! I didn't like the chairs very much, definitely made for taller folks. The chair was very uncomfortable to sit for a long time and my legs kept falling asleep haha. read more

Holy moly Batman! I had some time to kill and wanted a beer and a snack I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the menu of not your average tapas. The beer was tasty and fresh. The food was even better! I rolled the dice on the Portuguese fish in oil. It was a home run. Even tho the bread was harder than I would like if that's my only complaint it was a hit! Service was at the counter and not table side but stretching your legs never hurt anybody. The place is quite nice and clean. My meal was soo good I found my self having a hard time putting to down to drink my beer. 11/10 would recommend. read more

I'm surprised I have not done a review for this place yet. I come here pretty often since it's a couple blocks from me. The vibes inside are really cute if you want to escape the weather, however, most of their seating is outdoors. I enjoy coming here and getting a flight of beer so I can try a few different ones. Their charcuterie is also really nice! You can even mix and match and create your own combination. My friend who is vegan did have a hard time finding something on the menu she liked/could eat. The staff here as always been pretty nice and attentive. Definitely recommend stopping by this place for some good beer/wine and vibes. read more

Very interesting and unique drinks. My friends and I stopped by for a quick drink and were able to get seated right away. The interior is nicely decorated and really cozy, and I did enjoy the overall vibe. We got a vermouth spritz which was actually quite good. It was a good blend of flavors and also the perfect amount of alcohol. I tried some of my friend's hot wine which was also surprisingly great. I might have even liked it more than the vermouth since it almost tasted like a warm spiced tea. A great place overall! read more

Found this hidden gem when I was searching for a beer after moving to the area. I thought it was a taproom, but it turns out they brew too! The outdoor patio in the back is great. They have lots of seating and shade and dogs are allowed. Sitting out front is also available. I have never drank anything but their beer, but they offer wine and cider as well. If you get hungry, they have snacks! Bread and butter, charcuterie, mixed olives and nuts. Next time it's sunny out, check out roses for a nice pint! read more

I love this place but the bartender with the dark short hair makes me never want to return. She is rude every single time I go in. Last night I was walking by and was going to stop in for a night cap. I walked up to the door to check the hours and saw they closed at 11pm (it was a few minutes before 10pm) and the bartender rudely shouted "WE'RE CLOSED!" Another time I was there, I was finishing my glass of wine and she kept coming around to myself and other guests who very clearly had half full glasses of wine asking them if they are finished trying to take their glasses from them because they were closing in a half hour and basically just rushing us all out of there. Very poor customer service. read more

Just to let you know, I tend to gravitate toward the sweet tasting alcoholic beverages. It was definitely cool that they produced it themselves and designed the cans. They had a nice little patio out back and a parklet in front. I prefer the garden seating in the back though because there's less noise from the street traffic. There was enough space between tables for socially distant dining. Each table sat no more than 4 people, which I think is good for not attracting a large group. You pretty much order at the bar and pick up your drink when it's ready. I'm definitely coming back to try any other seasonal offerings. read more

I've been here many times aka given it plenty of chances, since I used to live down the street on 41st and Telegraph. Never have I had prompt or friendly service. Nothing near a simple welcome. I get that they're busy, in a prime spot in Temescal. However, the last time was appalling considering it wasn't some sort of rush hour with the parklet and back patio full. My friend and I were participating in The Lede anniversary crawl, else I probably wouldn't have come by here. No one greeted us, even after I stood for a long time trying to politely make myself present but staying out of the way, and even asking about a table out front since we had my dog with us and there were spots available. I hate to be the kind of person that just seats herself without checking in with a host, but my friend got frustrated and took a table, while I ran in because I was frantic for the bathroom as we were doing a bar crawl. I tried to grab us some beers on the way out, but even though the staff person behind the bar was not occupied with helping anyone seated at the bar or fulfilling orders, once he heard that we were sitting outside, he abruptly told me to go back to my table and someone would take my order there. I went back, and asked my friend if anyone had come by in the fifteen-or-so minutes since I had been waiting in line/going to the bathroom/talking to the bar dude. Nope - nor did anyone eventually come to take our order. So up my friend gets again, to put in an order - successfully, and I'm a little miffed and start wondering if it's because he's male. I usually don't think this, but started putting together the bad vibes I got from all the other times I have been here: asking about a waitlist, table, water for my dog, the tasting notes of a beer, etc. yet met with at best a shrug and at worse a dismissive tone. I promise, and I'm gutted to realize this last time, that once one of my male friends went up in any of these scenarios, we were able to get a table, were finally served, etc. A pretty shitty feeling. You probably just want to know about the beer? Well, no caliber of beer could ever make up for this sort of treatment. I know it may read as "whateverrrr" but microaggressions, in the cumulative - sod it, no matter what, are inappropriate ways to treat people of any gender. But the beer? Totally flat in flavor or abhorrently sweet, as in the case of the two that we had on the crawl. I immediately put it out of my mind, as it was so bad that neither of us could finish it. I made a strong attempt but my friend was up from the table and already walking away from an $8 beer, slightly annoyed that I dragged him there on a competitive alcoholic quest. I guess at least we got cute pictures of my dog out of it (they are, to their credit, dog friendly). read more

Good selection of reviews here so far. Helps a stranger in a strange land plan their visit. Maybe bring patience when it's a busy time and a fan if it's hot out. Being a grateful neighbor and not a stranger in a strange land I daresay those who live in these parts have been blessed these past few years by the variety and sheer number of new establishments in the Temescal for the drinking and eating. Roses' is one such and I do now very much enjoy visiting during the afternoon happy hour when a 10 oz Early Beer sets me back three clams. Three clams for each refreshing glass, three bucks a glass to enjoy friendship or just watching the interesting humans as they partake and do human things. I've sampled a few of their wares and have my favorites, but even with a shortish list of offerings there's something here for everybody. And the staff I suppose from some of the other reviews have had good days and bad days but I can say from my dozen visits they've been consistently attentive and patient and nice. If there was no beer and they charged three clams for a glass of air I'd still go just to hang out with them. Give Roses' a try and if I'm there when you do I'll buy you an Early Beer or four. Been here a couple of times and both times the servers were less than kind. First time we came in just before closing and they made it clear they were not happy we came in for a glass of wine. Second time I sat at the bar with a friend visiting from out of town. We split a flight so maybe that's not ok? We were waiting for our dinner reservation and didn't have much time, wanted to taste a bunch of things and on top of that it took 30 min to get our flight. 2 in the flight were the same beer. How is that acceptable when we are sitting at the bar facing the taps and not a single bartender has time to fill? Took 15 min to get a bartender to bring the check. Took another 10 min for them to swipe my card. I think if you have certain expectations on when you will be serving, how you want customers to act that is within in reason go ahead and let them know but the passive aggressiveness when we aren't mind reading how the servers feel is a hard pass for me. read more

The fig jam, feta, and arugula were great on the baguette. The downside is that the ratio for bread to eggplant which was was sad (a lot of bread, and a sliver of eggplant). Very hipster vibes - you'll come because it looks cute but you'll stay because the food (while on the pricier end) is quite yummy. *The menu was larger pre-pandemic. I enjoy the occasional Hitachino Nest white ale, perfectly-poured pint of Guinness, or something ice cold that someone offers me at a party (remember when we went to parties!?) but I've never gotten serious with beer the way I have with wine or cocktails. After drinking the orange cookie weissbier from Roses' Taproom, it's clear I need to reconsider this noncommittal relationship. I took one sip and thought: What is this magic? Their 'Future is Briter' IPA incited in me a similar reaction. I can't wait to sample more beer from Roses' Taproom! Thankfully ordering online is easy, and you can pick up your cans, growlers, bottles, and cider at Roses' daily from 14:00-19:00. If you need me, I'll likely be imbibing a beer in the backyard, at a safe distance from my drinking companions. read more

Super pink and IG worthy spot to grab a beer! I got their strawberry IPA and it was pretty good. I am far from being a beer connoisseur, but this was a solid choice and I'd get it again. Beer prices here are fair, but the non-alcoholic beverages are not (a can of la croix for $3?!) in case you're here with friends who don't drink. The service here could also be improved, hence the 4 stars. Our server was no where to be found, so we went up to the front to place our order where they then told us to sit back down and wait for our server...lol. First time here, surprisingly enough (as a beer lover). Had no idea it was an actual brewery. Taproom usually means just beer served on tap. Had a good wheat beer here and some of the appetizers. The cheeses are really good, the staff is friendly, and prices are average for the area. I didn't go inside but the heaters outside were perfect on a cold night. Inside seems nice and cozy, though. The one thing I'd wish for is that they stay open at least an hour later until 10 on the weekdays. We were really enjoying ourselves and 9 pm is just too early. Casual, nice, outdoor patio set up that is spaced out. There was no wait and quick service when we arrived. It's first come first serve and just help yourself to a table. I got the seltzer and bread and cheese plate. Seltzer was decent and food was tasty. The cheese and spreads were already pre-wrapped and ready. You bus your own tables but never saw a single table being wiped down between parties. The menu is not on a QR code put only posted where you order. There were lines and crowds around the menu as the night went in which felt like it defeated the purpose of the social distance policy. Overall cute place but probably won't be back again. read more

So I sat, and waited... and waited... and watched as the bartenders kept on helping people who had come in long after I had taken a seat. After ten minutes of waiting in vain, I left, thirsty. Such a lovely place! We wandered inside while waiting for Marufuku nearby, attracted by the beautiful, brightly lit interior and bustling yet laid-back atmosphere. Two tables outside, a few tables near the entrance, 5 or 6 small wall-tables (fits 2-4 people), and bar seating - all of it was packed full when we went in. We stood around for a few minutes, admiring the interesting artwork on the walls (I especially enjoyed someone's take on Pikachu), and then went to check out the menu. We ended up getting a flight of 3 5-oz. pours for $9: + Small Works: Japanese rice Pilsner + Peach Bee Humble: American Cream Ale + Flower Hop IPA: Belgian IPA Huge disclaimer: I know very little about beer. In fact, I don't even like beer much... I sampled some of each and they were okay (the peach ale was the best one). My friend, on the other hand, who enjoys beer a lot more and knows a lot more than me, said they were all quite good. I'll take her word for it. Despite not enjoying beer, I would come back here to hang out with a friend (and probably get ginger ale and some pricey bites to snack on instead).
