Stopped in 10:00am on a Sunday. Surprisingly no wait for such a small place. We seated ourselves and were promptly waited on. I ordered the Fretta and my partner the breakfast bowl- the dish they're allegedly known for. The food came in a reasonable amount of time and I had no complaints about my fretta- save that it was maybe a little smaller than what you'd expect around these parts. The garlic heel was a nice side. My partner's breakfast bowl was huge and swimming in their pan sausage gravy- she loved it and only ate half ( I doubt I would've done much better). 36 and change for the breakfast so maybe a little pricier than one would expect but the food was good. This cafe has new owners. As we came into the place for breakfast, we were told that they do not serve any pork products. They had turkey and beef bacon and sausage. The turkey bacon was okay but you cannot beat real bacon for breakfast. read more

Met a friend for breakfast after hearing good things about Suzi's. You seat yourself and it was a little busy when we arrived. The dining area is small and feels a bit crowded. There were breakfast specials on the boards and the menu had a nice selection of breakfast items. Nothing too fancy here pretty standard selection of egg dishes, pancakes and waffles. They have some Benedicts and biscuits and gravy too. My friend had the special mushroom, pepperoni and cheese omelette with breakfast potatoes and toast. I had a breakfast bowl which included a biscuit, breakfast potatoes, sausage patties, 2 eggs and sausage gravy on top.(I ordered the biscuit on the side to take home). It was a nice size portion and the sausage patties were crispy on the edges. I was disappointed with the size of the biscuit, but when I tried it the taste was good. The gravy had a decent amount of sausage in it and tasted good. Service was good and even though it took a while for our server to come over, we knew they were busy and our food came out pretty quickly. read more

My wife and I had a WONDERFUL experience here a couple days ago. Susie's is a neat little place with only a few tables but we were treated very well and had an excellent meal. I did not catch our servers name but she was on point, polite and very friendly. The restaurant was very clean and well maintained and we could tell that the owner and employees really cared about providing a great experience for their guests. We ordered eggs Benedict, a ham and cheese omlette and shared an order of biscuits and gravy. Everything was excellent and prepared as requested. Typical diner food. As most places nowadays they were short staffed but those who were working were super kind and friendly with my family. We drive 25 miles on Tuesdays for "Joe's Famous Meatloaf". My husband says it tastes just like his mother used to make. The squash soup is to die for!!! Perfect for fall! April & Kelly are fabulous servers. Extremely conscientious when customers come in - always greet us with a smile & a "Hi guys-how are you today". Feels very homey. The decor is SO cute. Went for lunch last week with my sister. The inside is like a typical diner but I didn't care for the back room so we moved up front and it had more light and was cheerful. I could tell our waitress was very experienced and good. I ordered the chicken and biscuits and Italian wedding soup. The soup was just awful! It was thick and like jello with no flavor with tons of pasta and the meatballs were the size of quarters. I told the waitress it was not good and the owner came over and said she would take it off the bill which I did appreciate. The chicken and biscuits were alright but nothing special. The thought I would try desert because the meal was disappointing to that point, got the chocolate lava cake which was not homemade but tasty with 3 scoops of ice cream and whip cream ( huge). read more

So the place looks like it would have amazing food. I love the decor and the little cute Diner appeal. But when the drinks and food came out it was very disappointing. It says all over the menu that the corned beef hash is homemade but it's clearly from a can and they definitely had cans of corned beef on a shelf in the kitchen that you can look in through window. And if you see in my other reviews I definitely know my homemade corned beef and love it. The toast was nothing special and everybody knows how to flip an egg or two. I ordered an orange juice and it was a child size at an adult price. Meh most likely wouldn't return. read more

Came here to check out the new menu... now known as Suzie's Cafe... ordered the special which was a Rueben panini with Mac salad. It was so so sooooo good! The remodeling is so aesthetically pleasing to the eye! I would say definitely check out this place, it's a hidden gem in Lakeland. 10/10 rating, staff is amazing. read more

I was in the area and needed a place to work on my laptop. I stopped here and got a table. Service is great and super friendly. I got the lunch special which was a warm roast beef sandwich on a garlic roll. The meat was ok but the roll was very good. I asked for Mac salad instead of fries. The waitress informed me the Mac salad was made today but had way too much mayo. The owner would not serve it. You have to appreciate that kind of honesty and dedication to your customers. I opted to have the sweet potato fries. They were waffle style and were delicious. This is a small family type place and everyone seemed to know each other. These are little gems I like to eat at. Cozy is the first word that comes to mind. With a few counter seats and about 10 or so tables it's not too small but just the right size. We went for Sat morning breakfast and sat ourselves at one of three empty tables. Although most tables were full with 2 to 4 people it wasn't super loud. Lots of locals- it seemed as if most of the patrons new each other or a member of the staff. 2 eggs over medium w/ sausage, home fries and toast + 1 veggie omelette with home fries and toast for $20 prices were very reasonable and the portion size was great. We ordered the home fries without onions and although they were cooked well they were a bit on the bland side. The over medium were a tad undercooked but still good. The veggie omelette was quite tasty with loads of veggies and just enough cheese. The waitresses were friendly and attentive although it took awhile to get a refill on our beverages. Our table neighbors both ordered humongous pancakes that definitely had that homemade delicious look to them. I've got my eye on one if I make another trip to this diner. By the looks of it I'd recommend it without having even tasted it. Overall the food and service were good, nothing amazing but definitely a place to go and get a decent meal. I enjoy exploring the many diners which the Syracuse region offers. I had planned to go to Meme's Diner and was surprised when my GPS brought me to the address and I instead found Suzie's Lakeland Diner. I thought I was lost and passed by the location and my GPS told me to turn around.. A brief distance later, I turned around at Daniella's Steak House on State Fair Blvd and went directly back to Suzie's. Thank goodness that I did. From pictures I had seen of the former Meme's, it is clear that they spruced up the outside and was quite happy to find a very clean, remodeled exterior with easy parking outside. I noted the inside was also remodeled tastefully and was very clean. The house was about 80% full and I took a seat at the counter. They have very comfortable seats at the counter and offer tables and booths, as well. There was a very nice, friendly vibe inside and the staff was warm, friendly, always appropriately attentive and professional. I perused their compact yet, attractive menu while I was served a cup of coffee. Coffee was average and was not the often found Paul de Lima brand, ubiquitous in Syracuse, which tends to be a more flavorful, full bodied roast. Nonetheless, I enjoyed the free flowing coffee and I decided on their daily special: an 8oz steak with 2 eggs, home fries and toast for $9.00. Many other offerings were priced for much less but, I craved steak and eggs for some inexplicable ( hormonal?) reason. I was very pleased with my breakfast when it arrived: fried eggs over medium cooked perfectly, wonderfully flavorful hash brown potatoes ( I think they used Yukon Gold potatoes that were very fresh, tasty and perfectly cooked), a griddle cooked, thin sliced steak which was perfect for breakfast and rye toast ( average bread). The entire combination was great along with the ambiance and friendly, welcoming ( but not ingratiating, obsequious or intrusive) service. Very good food, (better coffee could be offered) excellent service, wonderful atmosphere and very nice clientele make me recommend that one tries this place! read more

I'm sure it's great if you're a local/ regular. The fella wiping down tables was very nice and friendly but wait staff was not. They reserved that for the regulars that came in. People that were seated after us were waited on before us. Finally our order was taken but we had to ask for coffee refills despite our mugs sitting at the edge of the table for some time. Was never checked on to see if we needed anything else once our order came. It wasn't particularly busy either. Food was fine but I felt very unwelcome. read more

I stopped in here on the way to a friends house in the area. It was a small diner, but Im not sure if the positive reviews here are all because they were eat-in diners, but since I was in a hurry, I just ordered a cheeseburger to go. The waitress seemed fine, but a man preparing food came out from the kitchen area, and with bare hands pressed down on the burger before placing in in the container and gave it to the waitress to ring up. I was grossed out. I said nothing, because diner was full and did not want to make a problem. Knowing my friend had a dog, I figured I would pass it to my friend for her pooch, but she told me that the diner was "hit and miss" depending on who was cooking that day, she only went once, never went back. So, back to the burger- when I unwrapped it at her house, it appeared to be very dry and overcooked( I had ordered it Med-rare). The edges were burnt, and the dog sniffed it, tried to eat a little, then walked away. It looked gross. We both ended up going out later and got pizza in Camillus. We stopped in at lunch, to this gem to find it was a step back in time to good service, great food and very cool surroundings. We picked our own seats, kinda small area ( we were told later that there is another room when it's really busy) . The very friendly waitress quickly asked us if we wanted coffee, and told us that there were specials written up on a board, she also left us with menus. I got tea, my wife got decaf coffee and water. All of it came to our table very promptly. We ordered our meal, I ordered meatloaf off the specials, my wife ordered a western omelet, and made special requests for its fillings. The meal was on our table quickly, and we were asked about drink refills. The meatloaf come with real mashed potatoes, and awesome, rich brown gravy. A veggie would have been nice, but was not offered. The meatloaf was very hot, good texture and taste. A definite must have again. My wife's omelet came with hash browns and toast. The omelet was latge, hot and looked great. She loved it, the contents were correct and fresh. The hash browns were a large order that I got to share, very nice seasoning, and good crust. The employees are rude. The orders get screwed up all the time and nobody gets in trouble because they're all family. The son of the owner doesn't know anything about that place and he comes in to "help". Not to mention the food is basic. That place is a dumpster fire. read more

We decided to try this spot out for breakfast, since it's only 5 minutes from our house. What a treat! I always ask if a diner makes their own corned beef hash, and Suzy's does! Very friendly staff and owners, lots of "homemade" menu items. Serving size is adequate, which is what I like. I don't get any satisfaction from getting huge plates of food that can't be finished. My over-easy eggs were perfect, and my dining partner shared her home fries, which were flavorful and fresh, didn't taste greasy as in many other diners. Definitely going back! It doesn't look like a lot from the outside, but you'll be surprised when you try it out. read more

Visited Suzie's with a party of 12 (6 kids) for breakfast got us right in which was awesome thought we would have a wait! Seating was perfect for our party which included bench seating and chairs towards back of resturaunt this place has a nice cozy, family friendly, neighborly, (cheers) feel to it! Very clean, food was delicious,buttermilk pancakes were some of the best I've had! Excellent sausage which is def the best I've come across very juicy and lots of flavor def not out of your local grocery freezer! bagels were not store bought either and bacon yum. Sum of the kids got lunch items like chicken tenders which looked hand battered, fries looked great , burgers looked excellent! Well , let me start off by saying that I happen to live fairly close by and I often eat there . I know for a fact that Sue the owner makes almost all of her food from scratch . My favorite is her chicken and biscuits . I mean the gravy for the chicken and biscuits is homemade with lots of carrots and celery to boot . Probably the best chicken and biscuits of any diner I have ate at . Their roast pork dinner with lots of homemade gravy is very tender and falls apart on your fork . Look I do frequent this place because it is in my driving path but I am serious about the quality of their food . read more
