Worked with Fred on a catering order for a graduation party. He made it an amazing experience and was delightful to work with. Was able to place the order just a few days before and still get everything delivered. We got an assortment of deli sandwiches and Italian beef. Deli sandwiches were great and the beef was one of the best I've had in Chicago. Would recommend bother catering or just simply stopping by for a sandwich. Also worth calling out if you're looking to cater. They were very fairly priced compared to other places I looked at. They also did offer warming trays and such if needed. $14 for a meatball sandwich and 20oz Kool-Aid. I knew what I was getting into looking at the menu and prices, but I thought I'd give them a shot seeing as the reviews were pretty high. The sandwich was pretty decent. $10 for a meatball sub seemed a bit high, but it was tasty. Moist meatballs. Quite large and had nice flavor. It did the trick and filled me up. Kool-Aid. $3...I know. Who in their right mind pays $3 for a 20 oz of flavored sugar water? I've done worse. I hadn't had anything to drink all day and it was 3pm. That's my excuse...and it hit the spot. Would I go back? Like my stars, I'm middle of the road. I can head to Bari and get a 12" meatball sandwich for $6 & an Italian submarine for $6 as well...and it's from an Italian grocer. read more

She's voluptuous, perfectly curvy, full of salty deliciousness, lasts for days. And so naughty in name, like a French temptress! She's also frustratingly hard to find in the northern climes. So imagine my pleasure when reading the menu at Rosie's Sidekick, and stumbling over that magic word! Rosie's, being Italian, calls it Muffuletta, but gastronomically they are nearly identical twins, and I was not disappointed. I was so excited to find we had a sub shop in the area because I am always craving a cold sub. Stopped by tonight to get the cold cow and right off the bat I was struck with confusion. The menu is worded in a way that what's listed below the sandwiches reads as if that's the ingredients you will get. Instead my boyfriend and I were questioned which of the ingredients we wanted. Swiss or provolone for the cold cow, but there is no or in the description. My boyfriend ordered the couch and we understood the choice of hot or mild peppers, but then he was asked if he wants sweet peppers or giardiniera. The menu says giardiniera and sweet peppers are on the couch, not sure why he had to choose one or the other. We received our sandwiches and mine was incredibly dry. They gave me a lot of roast beef but it was dry and good thing I had mayo at home because there was barely any on my sandwich. This place has great prices (that picnic deal is great), bread is tasty, and I really wanted to like it, but it fell short. Maybe they can get the menu to read better and work on the meat/dressing ratio and I will be back. read more

I typically love this place but the last time I got a sandwich the person behind the counter did not wear gloves.

I placed a Grubhub order for 2 Italian beefs, with hot giardinara, drenched. We received 2 beefs, no giardinara, dry, with cheese. I called the store, and the guy initially told me there was nothing he could do. I asked for a manager but he said there isn't one. I asked if he could call a manager, or do something. He told me to come in and get 2 new sandwiches. I told him I had no way of getting there and back. He then called his manager. He then called Grubhub. He then called me back a half hour later to say they refunded me and I should place another order. So here we are, well over an hour after we ordered, hungry, and not even an offer of a discount on our next order. The staff here have no recovery skills when it comes to customer service. Mistakes happen, but you have to be able to fix them properly. Might seem petty, but $40 for a couple sandwiches and 2 bags of chips? You gotta get that right. So we did re-order. And when they came, the SANDWICHES WERE WRONG AGAIN. Cheese on them this time. Plus they were ice cold! I called again, and he said if you don't want cheese, you have to ask for no cheese. Even though on the menu, cheese is $1 extra. I asked when I could speak to a manager or the owner. He said Rose, the manager, would be in the next morning. We'll see what happens. Howie didn't offer to fix the problem at all the 2nd time. He just said tomorrow the sandwiches would be correct. I contacted Grub Hub myself this time. They refunded me. What a nightmare. Pretty good muffulettas. Make sure you get the classic style and don't add lettuce tomato etc. I've only had one other in my life and that was at central grocer in NOLA. I feel this muffuletta's bread was a bit more fluffy. It would have been easier to bite if there was less bread or if it was pressed more. The olive salad taste is delicious, it brings it all together. Aside from the bread, the sandwich is really well put together with a really balanced amount of meat, cheese, olive salad. We also got the meatball which was also really good. I personally like my meatballs with a little more texture in it, these meatballs seemed very mixed/blended. The taste and flavors were great though, I'd still get the meatball next time I'm here! Italian beef was decent, nothing special compared to others around the city. The staff was great, everyone was super nice and helped explain the menu. There's nowhere to sit inside, it's just a order and go type of place. If you're around you should check it out! read more

The meats are good quality and the bread is good, if a little bit dry--a little more oil and vinegar probably couldn't hurt. I've tried a couple of the hot sandwiches and they're pretty good as well. However, the best thing on the menu is definitely their cannoli. I'd recommend going in just for that. My cousin and I tried their Italian Tuna sub and their Muffuletta. I've had friends super wrap a Muffuletta from Central Grocery in NO and bring it back for me so I was super excited that there might be a good Muffuletta locally. It was a good sandwich, huge too, stuffed with meat and olive spread on a sesame roll. But it had this sweetness that I didn't care for--I think it was the balsamic. So if I ordered one again, I'd just ask them to leave it off. Their Tuna sandwich, now that was amazing. Imported tuna in oil, lettuce, tomato, mayo and mustard on a super fresh sub roll. It's funny, if I hate a place or am ambivalent towards a place, I have no problem writing a review. The struggle happens when I truly love a place. I've been trying to write my review for Rosie's for the last 30 minutes but I don't have the words. But I'm going to try. When I heard a sandwich place was opening up in Logan Square, my friend and I got super excited. Sometimes all you want is a good sandwich and there was no where that satisfied that craving. We were excited ... and then we forgot about it. Then, all of a sudden, Rosie's appeared when we were walking my friend's dog after work. It's cash only and we had $20 bucks between the two of us so it was fate. I'm averaging a sandwich once a week at Rosie's, I kid you not. Usually on Mondays my friend are walking her dog after work and we just find our way over. The sandwiches are bomb but the service is better. Every person we've met who works here is so incredibly nice and they remember us every time! They greet us like we're family and make sure our sandwiches are perfection. I've ordered the Italian Beef, the Muffaletta, and the Meatball sub. And all are incredibly delicious. I get the Italian Beef with cheese, dipped of course, with hot giardiniera and I devour it. Like it's so good. The muffaletta is dangerous because it is giant - like the size of a dinner plate if you get the full size. But it's so incredibly tasty and flavorful. And, oh my, the meatball sub is delicious. I also order it with hot giardiniera because I love how the hot peppers mix with the tasty meatballs to make the perfect sandwich. One thing that's amazing about Rosie's is that they don't skimp on the bread. Lovely loaves of bread that are crunchy and substantial enough to hold your sandwich, but soft enough that eating isn't a chore. And it just tastes like yummy, fresh bread straight from the baker. I came here last week for a quick bite on my lunch break. It's so hard to find good food in the area and man am I SO HAPPY I found this GEM. I was greeted warmly by Gabriel as soon as I walked in. Now if you're anything like me I struggle to find things on the menu that I like. I started to order and Gabriel made a great suggestion. Very happy he shared his knowledge on the menu, it made an ease in the ordering process. The price is great for the quality and quantity you receive. This sandwich shop is a welcome addition to the neighborhood. I bookmarked this place based on previous muffaletta reviews. I only ordered a half for $8. I could only finish half of it this afternoon so it is substantial. My sandwich judging is all about balance. It can't be too much bread or any one of the ingredients. This sandwich meets and exceeds. Lots of flavor. I'm not sure about the naysayers on price and service. Price seems fair and service was quick and pleasant. I was only in town for one night and I stopped in here after visiting a friend at Galerie F down the street. I'm not big on eggplant, but I got the eggplant parmesan sandwich. It was AMAZING. The staff was friendly and a great atmosphere. I got my sandwich to go. We decided to walk south down California towards the station to find a place to eat outside. Walking down the street we passed a lady who had picked up a sandwich right before us. She was eating it while walking. Whatever she must've been really good, because she stopped under a tree as it started raining to finish your sandwich. I only have one regret about visiting Rosie's...
