Rosi's Alfajores are hands down the best alfajores we've ever had. We've brought them to house parties and gifted them to friends, and without fail, they disappear within minutes--everyone grabs one, then goes back for seconds, thirds, or fourth!. They're absolutely perfect for Asian palates--soft, buttery, and not too sweet! Highly recommend the mini alfajores--especially dulce de leche and chocolate. They're handmade, bite-sized, addictive, and nicely packaged for gifting or just treating yourself. The empanadas are great too! The new flavors--lomo saltado and ají de gallina--are packed with flavor and taste just like something you'd find in a cozy Peruvian kitchen. We're officially regulars now. The owner, Sergio, is the sweetest guy, and the rest of the staff are always warm and welcoming. Rosi's truly feels like a hidden gem you want to tell everyone about (but also keep to yourself ). Can't recommend it enough! And they take credit cards now!!

the fries are there...just hidden under the white rice

Their alfajores are pillowy biscuits of subtle sweetness & sabor and perfect for gatherings/events. been picking them up for certain occasions the past few years and they never disappoint. tried the lomo saltado for the 1st time recently & it was made to order, pan fried and assembled on the stove top and tidy counter top. the large chunks of tomato & onion slices may be a bit unwieldy & overly chunky but the cubed-cut steak is definitely packed with flavor from the marinade and topped over a bed of freshly made, steaming hot white rice and large cut fries. for under $20 & sizable enough for 2 humans (or 2 separate meals), it's worth it. don't forget a box of alfajores for dessert.

Exterior. Corner of Miriam & Westlake. ALFAJORES!!!!

Rosie's ALFAJORES is located on the corner of Miriam & Westlake in a sleepy Daly City neighborhood. Know their name from the little Peruvian shortbread cookie goodness sandwich filled with chocolate or Nutella marketed via stores like Mollie Stones, Whole Foods and the like. You see them, get them. It will bring some sunshine to your day! Was surprised Rosi's had a small, but definite hole-in-wall shop locally. They carry the famous ALFAJORES but also empanadas, tamales, and hot plates all to go. So I was here to try the available SATURDAY ONLY Peruvian hot food plates like Lomo Saltado, etc. *CASH ONLY.* One gentleman behind the counter on a late afternoon, nice and quick with answers to my questions on menu and food items. He handled everything - order, cook, package and cashier. Not sure how he'd handle a crowd but it was fine with just me. There was a group, regular customers, after me so that would have been interesting to see. It's a small place, scan menu, questions if any, order, pay and be patient. Ordered: SECO DE CARNE - slow beef short rib, Peruvian chicha, beans, cilantro sauce, beans w/steamed jasmine rice. The short ribs definitely speaks for itself! Looking forward to the cilantro sauce but it's well integrated into the dish and didn't get the cilantro flavors I love. But this IS a stick to your ribs dish, nicely seasoned, especially great for our cold, foggy days. EMPANADAS - MUSHROOM/Botija olive & red onion - always a mushroom empanada and this was pretty good one. Crust is light and is great if it's baked. The mushroomy flavor was good with its light seasonings. BEEF/Botjia olive, Peruvian spices, red onion, raisin & cilantro. Sometimes wary of empanadas with raisins (too many, too sweet) I was pleasantly pleased with this well-seasoned Peruvian spiced, well-balanced ground beef empanada. The filling to crust ratio worked. Know it's good when the outside crust leaves a lingering ahhh on your palate. The beef was the show and a new definite go to! CHICKEN TAMALE. Peruvian corn dough, opted for chicken (v. Pork), Botilja olives, hard boiled eggs, peanuts, wrapped in banana leaves. Chose to take this home cold so I could steam it later to eat. This is a mildly seasoned tamale that could be eaten alone but it's awesome with the orange hot sauce it came with. Add in some of the pickled veggies onions - loved it! ALFAJORES. These Peruvian cookies are da' bomb! Get 'em and get as much as you can. Try all the flavors: Dulce de leche, Nutella, Princesa (peanut butter & chocolate fudge), Coconut. You have to try the Peruvian sweets here for yourself Or to share with family and friends. They will love you for it! Remember to swing by to try their hot dishes offered on SATURDAY ONLY: Lomo Saltado, Seco de carne, Aji de gallina, Arroz con pollo. Also offered is ceviche de pescado that I missed. Next time!

Thanks to the Yelp app, we came across this spot on the way to a family party. We were hungry and we wanted something to tie us over for the 40 minute drive but not ruin our appetites. Located in the same building of a laundromat, the Rosi's is a small space that houses a kitchen and stands of ready to purchase alfajores and drinks. Alfajores came in Nutella and the original dulce de leche. One of the best alfajores I have had as of late! buttery, soft with a rich creamy middle. Nutella was good but i loved the regular dulce de leche. We ordered a couple of empanadas as well. They are pretty big and the pastry was hearty and thick. Beef was full of flavor and the spinach and cheese was tasty as well. My favorite ended up being the mushroom and olive. Service with a smile, the customer service is perfect for this neighborhood gem. Eating area is outdoors and limited which means it is a lack of ambiance. Best to bring the food home if you want to have a cozy meal. It's super casual. I also saw that they served plates of Peruvian food on Saturdays. If I am ever in town, I'll make sure to stop by.

We were checking out paint at a paint store and it was about lunch time, so of course, I went on Yelp and looked for lunch spots nearby. Rosi's is kinda hidden in a residential area, so parking could be challenging. The restaurant itself does not have any dine in tables or chairs, but they have 3 small tables outside for ppl to eat. We ordered the beef empanadas and rice and chicken dish. We also bought some cookies to go. Let me tell you, the rice and chicken was so good! The chicken legs are marinated well and cooked well too, flavorful and juicy. The green rice was also seasoned well and had great flavor. Great food, and definitely will come back and get takeout from here. After those 2 dishes, I tired the chocolate mini cookie, and it was soooo good!!!

Mini dulce de leche alfajores (10 count)

I came here on the way back from an appointment. A friend from college is traveling in Peru and she made me start craving these. Good to know it was close by in the area. You do have to find street parking. The shop is small and cute. I was able to go in and out quickly. The person there was making them and also the cashier and really nice. They take CASH ONLY, but there is the option of Zelle. I wanted to try their Princesa alfajores (chocolate and peanut butter), but they were not available. The Nutella ones are yummy and I would recommend. Dulce de leche is more traditional and I got some mini ones to bring into the office. Overall, would go again and I recommend this sweet treat.

    These are amazing minis 10/10

This review is based mainly on their alfajores. Found this location by accident and it was a good one. Their dulce de leche alfajores are AMAZING. I got 2 boxes of the minis and one regular size Nutella. It is the perfect amount of sweetness and they just melt in your mouth. Definitely coming back just for these. I also tried the chicken empanada and it was a miss for me. The dough was undercooked and soggy. (See pics for reference).

We are so glad that we accidentally found this hidden gem! Our favorite day to come is Saturday when the kitchen is open so the bf can get their lomo saltado ($17). With fries, tomatoes, beef, onions and rice, this meal is sure to fill you up. My favorite thing to order here are the empanadas which are served everyday they're open. The empanadas are flavorful and stuffed! Be sure to get some of their hot sauce which gives your food a creamy spice. Before you go, you must order some of their alfrajores (Peruvian cookies). They're not too sugary and melt in your mouth. They're available by singles ($2 each) or minis that are packaged ($7). The minis will melt in your mouth but I prefer the singles that have a little more density. WHAT TO KNOW: *Cash or Zelle ONLY! *Street parking *There are a few seats on the sidewalk where you can sit and enjoy your meal

I bought 3 boxes last week!

I discovered this little Peruvian food spot while I'm in the DC area (and walking the family dog). It's about a 15 minute walk from where I'm currently staying at (not bad for the dog!). Today was my _th time to get the Peruvian cookies (alfajores) because, yes I got hooked ever since I had it a few weeks ago. The owner (Asian guy- not sure if he's the owner but) he gives me a dollar discount whenever I buy 3 boxes of alfajores, sums up to $20 instead of $21 (or maybe he just doesn't want to bother in providing the change), knows me now as a frequent customer. I bought 5 boxes of alfajores today that totalled to $35 ($7 each). I gave the lady $40. As I was walking out and putting the change in my wallet, I realized she gave me $15 back! So I quickly went back and told her she only owes me $5! She was very thankful I returned the excess change. I guess the box was $5 before? Lol If you haven't tried their cookies, I suggest try it sooner! They have other flavors (I tried the coconut one, it was good as well), but I'm addictted to the dulce de leche as it reminds me of the cookies I usually get from Porto's when I'm in LA. The cookies from Rosi's almost melt in your mouth! I am determined to try their empanadas soon! They also serve Peruvian dishes on weekends! I hope you'll try this spot and support local businesses! Parking can be a challenge (it is a neighborhood spot) but it should be easy between 10am-4pm- you can also try to park along Mission (but not too far from Westlake Ave where the store is!) Oh, I noticed during one of my walks, they're not open on Monday's. Don't quote me on that, I'm not 100% sure! They don't accept cards-- cash, Venmo, Zelle only.

    Spinach/cheese and mushroom/olive empanadas ($4 each) - good, big, bread-y dough

Omg those alfajores... melt-in-your-mouth deliciousness. Granted my most recent alfajores were most likely from Senor Sisig, but it's no wonder why everyone loves these namesake alfajores and Rosi currently has 5 Yelp stars. We got the mini dulce de leche alfajores ($6/10 pieces). I was planning on just eating 1 to try it, and couldn't resist devouring 3, even after being super full from the food. Sooooo good, that little box is beckoning me for fourths. Generous portion sizes for the entrees and empanadas. Entrees sold only on the weekend. Hole-in-the-wall, run by husband and wife. Great value for Peruvian food. And did I mention those alfajores?! On their own, enough for me to return and be a regular customer. The mini alfajores are also super cute, and will be an easy addition to any DIY tea party. Per other yelpers, Rosi's alfajores are sold at various markets and farmer's markets, so if you ever see them, be sure to get some and thank me later. Luckily I live close enough to purchase direct. Seco de carne ($16) - tender and flavorful. Lomo saltado ($14) - flavor is ok, but the meat is a bit tough. Arroz con pollo ($13) - decent flavor, but chicken could have been more juicy. Seafood paella (?) - didn't see this on the menu, and I think they gave this as a bonus item. Yummm, this was the winning entree. This + alfajores = absolutely drool-worthy meal. Empanadas ($4 each) - huge, generously-filled, dough is soft with the conisistency of white bread lightly fried (a tad like Taiwanese fried bread). The beef, chicken, and mushroom all have some olives (which I'm generally not a fan of), so I tried the spinach/cheese which was soft, tasty and creamy. I think they put some cream cheese in there. Rosi, thank you for the delicious meal, complete with the best alfajores I've had in my entire life. (And sorry for some of my pictures that are post-people digging in!)

Rosi's Alfajores has the BEST Empanadas, ever!

The issue is that I was definitely pushing it on time if I planned on making my flight. As I was driving here, I had the thought that if there was an annoying parking situation or a line, I would just have to pivot and forego patronizing. But as it turns out, there was one spot available right next to the front door and no one inside. But then when I requested a nitro, the owner (I assume?) was extremely apologetic that their coffee machine broke. I asked for a few alternate types of coffee, but it turned out said machine controlled it all. So we shifted to the pastries. I read on the website that they had something with guava, so I asked for two of those: one for me, one for the wife. He even offered to heat mine up, which I will say yes to 100% of the time. I then jumped back in the car and was back into "don't' miss your flight mode." Of course, when you're in a hurry, you manage to hit every red light along the way, so I was doing a lot of yelling at electricity and God. But then I figured I might as well take the time to try the pastry that I'd originally planned on eating on the plane. As it turns out, it brought me into a nearly immersive experience of zen. The only bad thing is that I devoured it within seconds and then it was merely a thing of the past. My wife is fortunate that I have the amount of integrity that I do because I am sitting on the plane as I write this and I could easily inhale that 2nd pastry with her being none the wiser. If you're reading this, wife, remember that you hit the spousal lottery.

He explains there aren't many flavors left because most of his business is through online orders. We asked him to help us pick out 4 cupcakes, and he was pretty chatty about them all. After we picked out our 4 cupcakes, he gave us one for free (wow - thanks so much). That took the sting out of $6 cupcakes. The place is a bakery and store front, but no seating. They have cupcakes, mochi donuts, savory muffins, and various drinks. Their baked good are made with rice flour and coconut milk, so their cupcakes are light and moist. They kinda have a mochi-coconut flavor, but not the sticky mochi texture. Most of their cupcakes have some type of filling inside, which adds to the moistness. All their flavors are really creative, and some of the ones we got today I don't even see on their online menu. The instructions say best served heated for a few seconds, but I found the cream gets too melty. It tastes fine without heating imo. What we got: + Ube cookies and cream - ube and coconut forward. Yum. + Guava - this had a dollop guava jam on top and some squirted inside too. The guava adds just the perfect bit of tartness to the cupcake. + Nutella - there's a dollop of nutella on top that fills part of cupcake inside. + Churro Biscoff - pretty gooey inside, which may be due to heating it a few seconds. Still very yummy. It's a good thing I don't live close to one of these stores or I'd be here every day. I prefer these to Sprinkles cupcakes for the same price point.
