    Ross Old Town Alexandria

This is a great Ross store and conveniently located in Old Town. The staff are friendly and helpful and the store has a good range of clothing and home wares. Stock rotates frequently hence the slight disorganization that is typical of most Ross stores. I think some other reviewers expect too much - prices are low and there are bargains to be had. Perfect for what it is!

This is a bottom-feeder Ross, but due to its location it's also a godsend. Having lived in Old Town for the past five years (and moving every year to boot), I've furnished many a crib thanks to this Ross. Where else in Old Town can you buy a down comforter for $30? I'll tell you--nowhere. Curtains, kitchen gadgets, crock pots, all for butt cheap and without the hassle of enduring that hot dog Target smell (not to mention a drive up Route 1). One of the employees has massive b.o., though, so on a bad day you can sniff something much worse than four-hour-old hot dogs. I never come here with something in mind--you're just setting yourself up for disappointment--but often leave here with a great deal. I've gotten awesome dresses for a mere $10. A Swarovski giant cross necklace too, and I didn't even complain when it broke because it was only $20. The purse and shoe sections basically blow, but stick to the dresses and housewares and you'll be a happy shopper. It's also a great place to pick up gifts for your breeder friends--toys and baby clothes in spades. P.S. I got a tumbler set for a friend here, one with Dre and the other with Snoop. The chronic. Tell me that's not DOPEEE.

I love stopping in at 3 Sisters (you guessed it, actually owned by three sisters). It's a two-level boutique of fashion for women that ranges from accessories to formal wear and everyday wear. The items they curate are stylish, timeless, and lovely. They've got something for everyone. The prices are incredibly affordable. I mean it's a boutique with a luxury feel in one of the most expensive neighborhoods in the country and you can walk out paying the same prices you would at a big box place like TJ Maxx. The difference is that at 3 Sisters you're getting personalized service and higher quality items while supporting a local, women-owned business. Love, love, love.

If you're looking to add a couple staples to your wardrobe, but this would be a cute place to stop at if you happen to be in the area. The pricing was actually pretty reasonable. The were some items that were a little bit higher than I would have normally spent if I was purchasing anything. I also noticed their sizes did not really go past extra large. There may have been a stray XXL, but I don't really recall. So I'm not sure it's plus size friendly in the long run. When we walked in, we were not really greeted and nobody really helped us the entire time we were in the store walking around. It did not give me warm fuzzies.

She doesn't want people grabbing and ruining her clothes. It's not like some chain store where she can send damaged goods back to corporate. I strolled in a few weeks ago, for the first time, looking for a dress to wear to a wedding. Joelle was all over me, in a good way. She seemed to have a blast pulling dresses that she thought would fit my body well. She was very complimentary when dresses fit nicely and she was straightforward (but never rude) when she thought I could do better. She loves the clothes in her store and sees them as wearable art. If I'm going to spend my money on something like a cocktail dress, I do appreciate a tailored and personalized experience. I felt that Joelle genuinely wanted me to walk out of her store happy and return again. Which I will.

I've been a devoted consignment-store shopper from Dallas to Boston to SoCal. While I found several great shops in Alexandria that day, none checked all the boxes quite like Vida Style did. First off, it has something for every budget and size. There's a $10 rack AND couture items that can cost $400-$1k+. My regular shopping budget is closer to $100, and I've never left here empty handed. The first time I visited, I was on the hunt for a muumuu for a theme party by the same name and had no problem finding the perfect item below my price point. Today, I was on the hunt for "holiday cocktail" wear and found not only a festive, sparkly A-line skirt but also a beautiful DKNY cocktail dress just my size--and walked out having spent LESS than $115 total! The hardest part will be deciding which to wear to this weekend's party. What else sets Vida Style apart is that, unlike other neighborhood shops, there's PLENTY of inventory without sensory overload. Having worked in retail, I like seeing racks that are organized (size and color!) AND easy to peruse in a reasonable amount of time (I mean, if you have a street meter running, you don't want to be in there all day, right?). Other nearby shops might have lovely items, but they're SO crammed on the rack that I just give up porque no vale la pena. Then there's the Vida Style staff. As others have pointed out, they're AMAZING. They treat you like a human being and don't judge if you're just buying a $10 skirt for your cousin's wedding (guilty). They treat you like family and if they give you a compliment, it's genuine. Also, if you can't get there for whatever reason, they have a serious e-commerce presence. They're super active on Instagram, where they showcase new arrivals and rare finds, which is great for folks who love fashion but might not live close enough to just pop in. Lastly, I was pleasantly surprised to find a robust selection of blazers and suit jackets right in the center of the shop. Other stores have reduced their jacket inventory post-pandemic, but not here. Why was I not surprised that TWO attorneys were shopping here at lunchtime today? They really have it all. From shoes to purses to scarves, shirts, sunglasses, jackets, formal wear, and even menswear, Vida Style has it all. I really can't recommended it enough. Please shop local and check them out!
