The fitting rooms, in the back of the store, are consistently closed and unavailable for usage; there is a minimal rate of them reopening anytime soon. Other than the store always being a mess so horrific there's no possible way to find what you were actually looking for Ross in general not just this store has the most incompetence and disrespectful employees I've ever had to deal with. That is at every single Ross Store I've ever been to in my life. It's like the same teenagers teams all over again who want nothing more than for you to leave and get out so they can keep fucking around. As I know all people and all businesses have issues with employees but this is different. I'm talking about these people when it gets to an hour and a half before closing they start reminding you every 15 minutes and then if you're there with 20 minutes left until they close they would not do anything but follow you around and it's ridiculous and horrible and you need to fix it. read more

Extremely slow service, always understaffed, staff is not friendly at all, and the store is always a complete disaster. Shoes all over the place, no organization, every type of clothing item on every rack- doesn't matter what size or what's labeled. Prices are good-I'll give them that. But, if you find an item you want and it's damaged, they still charge you full price. I'll go to Goodwill next time if I want good prices. Ross is just not worth it. (Also just a side note- dressing rooms are closed, either due to covid or cause they don't wanna pay more staff to wor them. Could be either or both.) It looks big from the outside. Looks neat at the door. Once you go inside, EVERYTHING IS SCATTERED ALL OVER THE FLOOR. I was waiting for somebody to scream and say they broke their ankle so this ROSS store and for somebody to sue them. Every corner and every aisle, you'll be stepping on something. I bought a soap dispenser from the Gurnee location and it left a huge gray stain on my vanity (which is only 6 months old). I've tried a million different ways to get the stain out and it won't budge. I called to speak with the store manager and she said she was too busy to speak to me. I called the Waukegan location and they were much nicer there and offered to message the regional manager so he could contact me. So....maybe I'll hear from him, maybe not. And I still have a huge stain on my brand new vanity because this dispenser obviously isn't made out of appropriate materials to serve it's purpose. And the store manager is not aware of the fact that stores only stay in business because they have CUSTOMERS. I just wanted to also add, 19 days later I still never heard from the regional manager, Ross just really doesn't care about their customers. read more

So, although I am only giving 3 stars, I really do love Ross. And a majority of my business casual clothing originates here. The prices are amazing and I love the clearance rack here. The cons are that the store always seems to look like it has been the victim of a small natural disaster. I am a bit sympathetic because I do always see employees on the floor straightening things up but it is really dirty. Also, it is frustrating that the stock is so unpredictable. I know variety is the spice of life but there have been some trips where I left empty-handed and some trips where I couldn't afford all of the things I really wanted to take home (the whole store). Overall, I still recommend Ross to my friends who are looking for some new clothing. Especially the plus size women... like me. I just think maybe they should hire someone to sweep every so often. read more

Ross Is an awesome spot to get name brand clothing & accessories at Walmart prices. Well not really but the prices are great. The selection is never consistent but the more often you go, the more likely you will score on the deals! It's a great store to get more for your money, and that's what it's all about! read more

One star is the lowest I can rate unfortunately. The store is always a mess and very unorganized and I don't think the employees care. I always thought Walmart was the trashiest store, but Ross makes Walmart look luxurious. It's hard to explain but it's one of those stores where you know there is no structure and the employees just stand around and talk about the drama in their life or other stupid sh%t instead of helping customers and cleaning up. I think it's great for employees to have fun at work and enjoy their job, but not when the store looks like a tornado just hit it and customers can't find anything. Last night I tried to buy something there and I asked an employee in the front of the store where the item was and they said it was in the back. I walked all the way to the back and could not find it, so I asked another employee (who I had to interrupt because they were literally arguing about boyfriend/girlfriend stuff) and she then told me it was actually in the front. But, because the store was such a disaster last night I could not find the item in the front and had to ask the original employee who finally helped me find it. Hey management! Here is a quick win for you in customer service - tell your employees to always walk the consumer to the item instead of just pointing in a general direction and making them go look for themselves. We went to this store on Friday, December 7, 2018 at around 9:00pm. I checked the store hours to make sure we had time to shop and they were open until midnight which are the holiday hours. As we were shopping, the manager on duty announced over the PA system at 9:15pm that "the fitting rooms would be closing at 9:30pm". Then at 9:45pm the same manager on duty made another announcement on the PA system that "the fitting rooms are now closed, please make your final selections and bring them up front to the cashier". My question is, if you are open until midnight then why are you making announcements two and a half hours before closing that the fitting room is closed and therefore cannot try on clothes, then you tell customers to make their final selections and bring them up front to the cashier, why are you even open that late then. read more

When this store first opened and I realized what a good bargain it was I was there all the time. But over time the store has gotten to be run down and dirty. Today I went there to look for some t-shirts and in almost every aisle boxes and products were on the floor...especially the rug area was so disorganized. Somebody thought it would be a good idea to put towels and rugs on these large white shelves but if no one goes in to ever straighten them what is the point? The bathroom aisle was completely a disaster I couldn't even walk through the aisle because there were boxes and things just falling off shelves. Everything was just a mess and it was only a Friday afternoon ! I was so frustrated that I left my items there and left. The poor woman that runs the store is so overweight she can hardly move and there was no one else there to help her. I probably will not be returning and have to find another place to shop. I'm so disappointed because I was buying the majority of my wardrobe there. UPDATE: December 5th 2017 Although I still have the above complaints I would change my rating to three stars. I did have to go to Ross & TJMAXX & I noticed that Ross has hired several new staff members. Went there for the first time yesterday, and I was overall pretty impressed by the prices and inventory. However, when I went to the fitting rooms, the attendant was rude, and treated me like a criminal. I understand that they do need to make sure you're only bringing in a certain number of items, but her tone and demeanor made it seem as though I had somehow offended her by just walking up. The TV commercials make it look so good, but when I finally got around to going there, I was very disappointed. The place reminds me of the old Value City from Gurnee Mills, which is now gone, and the clothes and merchandise were messy and tossed around from customers - the clerks are not keeping the place straightened up well on shelves and racks. Just a bunch of made in China crap clothing. The Goodwill in Kenosha is kept up much neater and is much nicer looking than Ross. Nothing special to see at Ross, people. Move along. read more

I was in a good mood that I got out early of work, So I decided to go to Ross because I knew that i had time. Mind you that i got there at 11pm and they close at midnight. I still had time to try on a few outfits and the person who was in the fitting rooms was super nice. I decided to get leggings and a cute shirt. As I was getting in line to go and pay the lady who was waiting for me told me to go to check out #5. So I did but there was something about her that just wasn't right. I get it that you guys want to go home and rest but just the way how the lady at the cashier wanted me to get out as fast as i could made me upset. She threw my leggings and my shirt inside the plastic bag, literally just threw them inside. before she threw them inside the bag she told me that I could already swipe my card or put my chip in without even getting started on the purchase. I was very surprised that a lady would be so eager for me to leave. She then threw the bag into the cashier counter for me to pick up. I just wanted to be clear that if you're going to have those type of eployees, have them do something different. I don't want to go back there knowing that eployees like her are working there. This has to be a wake-up call for you guys to enforce the rules again. And if they don't follow with the compliance show them the damn door. read more
