This store is so gh3tto. This review is for the customers that were present here at the store earlier this week 6/14/26. Not sure what brought in the crowd but I believe it's the FIFA soccer games going on this month...a lot of foreigners or people that looked like they weren't from around this area swarmed the entire store. A lot of Span!sh speaking people were there and were completely rude, and just plain loud and obnoxious like they weren't out in public. They were talking so loud and literally shouting at each other back and forth between isles when they can just talk normally next to each other but they were shouting from different directions. Screaming kids running around the stores and these same people were just letting them do as they please. One of them even yanked a tag in front of my face to look at the price while I was looking at some handbags and I looked at her and she pretended she didn't see me and walked off. This Ross has gotten so much better. Last time I was there it was a mess, dirty and so disorganized. But now it is great and I am happy to give them 5 stars. The prices are great and they always have sales. They bring in new stuff all the time so we have been back a few times. The selection of, well, everything is great. They have something for everyone. It is not just a clothes store. Last time we were there my daughter bought me the nicest vase and at a great price. The photos do not do it justice. It has all these pink flowers and each one is raised and it is made so well. I just love it. The service is great. Now there can be a line but it moves fast. They know where stuff is and although they don't know every single thing in the store, they will tell you where you might find it. We will be back again. read more

Typical of most Ross stores. Mom and I came through with absolutely no idea what to buy (we were killing time, really) but knowing us, we wouldn't leave empty handed. (We never have at ANY Ross store!) There are always bargain items to find, especially on their clearance areas. I found a few for my pup, for me, and items to be used as giveaways or future presents for some people's upcoming birthdays! There is some clutter but not so much to make it bothersome. Staff are friendly, service with a smile. And as predicted, we ended up with a couple of big bags' worth of good buys! There will be future visits for sure. read more

Sadly I've been shopping at this Ross location for years, and the customer service is consistently awful. Every. Single. Time. The store is dirty, I always leave with globs of dust collected around the rims of my sneakers because no one ever sweeps the floors. The dressing room floors are the worst, they're either covered in (said) dust or cheap glitter that's fallen off fancy dresses and no employee has bothered to sweep, ever. The restrooms are worse than a gas station, no paper towels or clean soap, I'm honestly not even sure the lock on the (only) door works correctly. I pee as quickly as I can hoping no one else will come by. The security guard treats you like a criminal by checking your receipt and looking in your bags when you leave (even if you're the only one in the store and he literally just saw you pay for the merchandise 2 feet right in front of him.) He marks your receipt with a thick greasy highlighter, which then takes forever to dry, so I've got to hold the receipt way out in my hand until I get to the car, then fold it in on itself (so the still-wet highlighter doesn't mark my hands, my car seats, or my newly purchased items.) After checking out at the register, the clerks literally scream "NEXT!!!" in my face before I've even had a chance to put my cash/change away and collect my purchases, before heading over to (said) security guard to be treated like a criminal. She's screaming of course to the next person in line to come forward already, because (I'm told) the clerks are timed on their transaction length, or space between transactions, or whatever. However, they'll waste my time DURING the transaction by chatting with the clerks around them, talking about what their boyfriend said or what they had for lunch. Makes no sense at all, and it feels like common decency is thrown out the window. Worst of all, the lady who counts the items before entering the dressing room acts like a militant drill sergeant and barks orders rudely at me to hang my clothes on the rack before entering the dressing room. If you say anything to her at all, about anything, she will go into a lengthy explanation as if she's training you how to do her job, which wastes my time and only adds to her rudeness. I've spoken to the manager about it, who has proven to be useless in doing anything to improve the store or its employees. I feel treated like the scum of the earth whenever I'm in this store. Ross is so different than Marshall's next door, where the dressing room lady always greets me with a "nice to see you again" and is kind and pleasant. Not here. I guess at Ross, you get what you pay for. Cheap prices and cheaply treated. Sometimes I have to shop there because it's the only place my budget works, but I always cringe when I leave, due to the awful way I feel treated. [UPDATE 1: Review #94] 2023-004 I reviewed Ross Dress for Less almost a decade ago, & this location's impression is less than desirable, seriously lacking in customer service -- rude & unknowledgeable. This "off-price" retailer is one of several, including Marshall's, TJ Maxx Burlington, HomeGoods, etc. Ross gets their inventory from traditional retailers & brands that are overstocked on inventory: clothing, shoes, toys, home goods, etc., or cancelled orders or too many manufactured items. I purchased a pair of sneakers last winter & couldn't find the receipt for the return. I also didn't have time because both my husband & I were sick. I tried to return them for store credit since I didn't have a receipt, which I have done in the past & have received credit. I walked in & went directly to the register, only to be told by a female cashier to wait in line. What line?! The other 2 ladies hovering in no man's land (between the register & line) weren't ready & waiting for their friend. Apparently, inventory was more important than a live customer. ＼(｀0´)／ Then a male cashier called me over; however, he's inexperienced with returns so I'm stuck with this horrid cashier who doesn't want to be bothered. I showed her the shoes & explained I lost my receipt. She accuses me of returning worn shoes. WTH?!? What's with the friggin' attitude?! I said they looked this way when I purchased them, & said I can find any number of pairs currently on the floor with slightly dirty soles. Customers/the kids will try on shoes to check for fit & walk around the dirty floor. My returns' topside is perfectly clean & looks unused. She huffs & said she needs to check with the manager. I can partly hear her muttering about my being "difficult" to her manager, & comes back with the store manager, whose attitude isn't any better than the cashier. She flippantly says the same thing about worn shoes, & commenting the Ross inventory/price tag doesn't match to their codes on the sole; meaning the tag's price matches the written # on the shoes' sole(s). She generously offers to take the return & refund 99¢ because that's what the POS system is posting. I have serious doubts about the manager's explanation. Why? This Torrance location's (off Hawthorne Blvd. & 190th St.) random inventory isn't organized, with rows of empty shelves on some occasions. While you may find bargains, not everything looks/feels new even though it's supposedly overstock inventory that's marked down. I went to the kids shoe aisle to fact-check the manager... lo & behold -- she was W-R-O-N-G!!! Ding, ding, ding!! You are so wrong, wrong, wrong!!! I randomly pulled 2 pairs of shoes, & both pairs proved she's unknowledgeable, not detailed-oriented, & seriously lacking in skills to "manage" her team to properly tag/inventory. Shoe Comparison 1. Light grey slip-ons: Ross tag: $12.99; soles were marked 14. 12.99 doesn't = 14. Wrong! Not only that, the soles look "worn." 2. Rose-gold slip-ons: Ross tag: $6.99; soles were marked 13. Wrong! The original tag was $12.99, however the manager says the price needs to match the soles. These too had "worn" soles. My Attempted Return The last updated Ross tag: $13.99 had the original price as $27.99; soles were marked as 25. My return also has a mismatched price tag & numbered sole. There goes $16 down the drain. The manager looked at me accusingly like I was trying to pull a fast one of returning worn shoes just the price tag wasn't attached & the soles were dirty. Well, there's 2 pairs of shoes on the floor that doesn't have matching price tags to the respective "worn" soles... proof is in the pudding, go check your floor merchandise. If this is their fact-check method, I proved the store manager is either wrong or a liar. Not all Ross Dress for Less is hot mess like this one, so continue to bargain hunt & shop, but I avoid this one like the plague if you actually are in need of customer service. If you make a purchase, make sure the item is in mint/new condition & without defects in case you unfortunately need to return an item so some of the staff don't accuse you of returning worn or broken merchandise. Although this Ross has nice stuff, it always makes me feel uncomfortable when I purchase something and afterwards I'm being checked like I am a criminal. Let me preface this by saying that I'm a bargain hunter at heart. If there's a deal to be found, I don't mind sifting through piles of chaos or waiting in long lines. (Sometimes I've even been mistaken for being an employee because I find it stress relieving to reorganize shelf items.) Anyway, last month (10/12/18) I was perusing the aisles when a rare thunderstorm hit, and I was caught totally unprepared. As I shopped the shoe section for some boots, I noticed a roof leak and notified an employee. He said it'd be cleaned up immediately. What I observed was a "caution" sign being placed onto the wet floor and the employees just chatting and joking with each other. At the very least, they could have put a bucket under the leak and wiped the floor, but I guess customer safety isn't a high priority at this Ross location!? read more

I hardly ever go to Ross and I know why I don't it can be crowded and a mess. This one is located in the shopping plaza off Hawthorne the Old Towne Mall which it was called back in the day when I was growing up. Nothing is really organized especially the clothes you have dig into and look for what you want and sometimes people don't put the the size back in the right area it's just a mess and pain. Service is terrible here unfortunately. There were five us standing in line, and only one person working as cashier. Meanwhile three others stood around the jewelry counter. One I think was security but another girl actually walked around the corner to hide. She literally stood there looking at the line. I frequent MANY Ross' s, but this location is by far the most disgusting Ross. Immediately when I walked in, everything looked scattered. Ok, I will give a pass for the simple fact that they were closing in an hour. But what sealed the deal for me was the rancid odor. It smelled like someone urinated and then regurgitated on the floor in the home good section. When I got to the register, I mentioned the odor to the sales employee and her response was "I have allergies, so I can't smell anything". ("Ma'am, who asked you about your darn allergies?!" was what I was thinking.) But had she walked back there, THAT smell would have opened up her nasal passage quick, fast, and in a hurry. That's how bad it smelled. I know it was the end of the day, and things are thrown everywhere. Never been here before, first time shopping and never will return. When we were in line to check out, they had 3 registers open. 2 were customer service and the other was a regular one. When we approached the line, we were 4th to cash out. They had three customers in the customer service line. Once we got to the front of the line, the regular cashier started to put away the hangers along side another worker. Customer service took my friend, then started taking their customer service customers. Still waiting on the cashier to finish hanging up the hangers. She was talking, having all kind of conversations, I then turned and noticed the line has grown all the way down to the back of the store. At this point I'm thinking they were going to go ahead and open, nope...she continue to have conversations and hanging up the hangers. My friend asked the manager if she can have a register open, once the manager noticed the line she instructed the girl to return to her register to help get the line down and the manager opened up another register as well. We were in line for 10 mins waiting. If the line is long, you get the line down then continue to finish cleaning your station. Those hangers could of waited. This store currently has 1cashier for checks and credit cards, one cashier is taking cash only and another is taking return items! I just noticed that the cashier who was taking cash only returned to another register to assist credit card & checks. The majority of customers are paying with a credit card! This is a ranking based on "bang for the buck" pricing. I was looking for an exercise Yoga Mat, and Ross (as well as Marshalls) has them typically in the Athletic Shoe / Activity section in a bin. The prices range from as low as $5 when on clearance to around up to $15, but most are less. This store here in Torrance had a bigger selection than the one in Hawthorne, including thicker mats as well as men's colors (where Hawthorne only had lots of girls colors like pink). Comparably, the same mats can be found at the brand name sporting good stores like Big 5, Dick's, Sports Authority, Sports Chalet, or even at Target, Wal-Mart, K-Mart or other stores for at least twice as much for something of similar quality. I think Ross (and Marshalls) is able to sometimes sell these so affordably as they're brand new condition, but probably discontinued brands or product lines, sometimes a mat that originally was part of a bundle or a kit or something a fitness company had distressed inventory they wanted to liquidate to a discount retailer like this. In any case, it's nice to come here to price comparison shop. The parking is easy. Sometimes the inventory is like finding a needle in a haystack in terms of organization, but it's also like finding buried treasure and can be fun n' rewarding to shop here! I am a young black male. I was shopping with my friend (also young and black). Their was this white lady and she was stealing. The door alert went off when she walked through. I told the security 'it was her the alert went off on her' the security guard proceeded to let her walk and check me and my friends bag. This is by far my favorite Ross store in LA. I make a 20min drive And pass a couple locations to get to this one. I usually find everything I need plus more. The lines can get a bit long especially during peak times (after 5, weekends holidays) but they usually have enough staff to accommodate. Shoe department is my favorite. read more

My first time coming to this Ross and will definitely be the last. The atmosphere is not very friendly at all. As a person that works a customer service job I understand that it's exhausting being up beat and happy all the time and I get that it's the holidays and it's more chaotic than usual but a smile and a "hello how are you" would be nice. Not even a "welcome" when I walked in. The security guard was just on his phone watching a movie. There was also a LONG line and only two cashiers.. like WHAT? Horrible customer service! I was alone with two babies, and the lady from the fitting rooms was so rude and not helpful at all. Instead, she was asking me to put my clothes one by one in the rack, which I didn't see her ask any other client to do that. She had an attitude whenever I asked for something. Yazmine has the worst customer service at this location and the managers don't tell their employees when they're in the wrong.
