ok-hubby got beautiful 3 Carat Mined diamond bangle tennis bracelet 14KT. less than 3 months after purchase it literally fell apart-a link came apart and thankfully i noticed it on floor. They sent UPS to pick it up for repair. 3 weeks later repaired bracelet shipped to me-within half hour of wearing it at home-the repaired link fell apart yet again. Contacted them immediately-now being told they never should have acceepted the bracelet and repaired it-i should have filed claim w Extend warranty..??? Extends states i must file claim online and they will review if they will cover this issue and repair it.... i have to wait 2-5 days for them to decide if they will accept this???? 100% Hit OR Miss. I feel like there is no in between. The cheaper mass produced items i have not had overly great luck with. I had a very beautiful gold woven bracelet from them but the links were hollow and eventually i melted it while using my grill!!!! Crazy right? It got so badly out of shape that it quickly just broke and was not repairable and became scrap within a year of occasional usage. Not good. On the flip side, they have some of the most exquisite one of a kind Estate items out there and this is where they have my absolute attention! Granted yes they are not really cost effective when you consider stones/gold weight ect but to me you are paying for a well made piece of antique artwork and im totally good with that. When I took it in for repair, I found it was not 14K solid gold and it could not be repaired as it would not weld properly. I was shocked by my terrible experience at Ross Simons in Warwick the other day. This place has become a joke and it is truly sad. They used to have a wonderful reputation and were always so helpful whenever any of the pieces purchased from them needed servicing, including watches. Many years ago, I purchased a beautiful gold Byzantine necklace to compliment an off-the-shoulder silk cocktail dress I was planning to wear for a black tie event. The dress and necklace looked stunning together but over the course of the evening, the necklace kept shifting and the thick, woven links were continually flipping over on their side instead of laying flat against my skin. I found myself continually adjusting the necklace with the palm of my hand to make sure it wasn't twisted. Instead of enjoying the evening wearing my gorgeous new necklace, I was distracted by it and was pretty angry since it was a pricey piece of jewelry. When we got home, I took the piece off, put it back in its custom box, put it in a drawer and never wore it again which is unfortunate because I loved the design. Fast forward 20 years, I came across this necklace I had worn once and wondered if it could be altered so it would sit properly around my neck. I took it back to Ross Simons and showed it to a saleswoman who said she recognized the old box Ross Simons no longer uses. I told her about the problem I had and put the necklace on. I flipped the chain on its side to illustrate what happens when the necklace is worn and this idiotic woman said "well you just did that with your hand." I said "yes, I was trying to show you how the necklace behaves, or rather misbehaves, when I wear it." I thought, could this saleswoman truly be that dumb? When I asked her if there was any way the necklace could be altered for a better fit, she was shaking her head "no" before I even finished my sentence. She then said "it is the nature of the beast, nothing can be done." The nature of the beast? What in the world was she talking about? I put the necklace away and headed for the door. It is hard to believe this clueless saleswoman has been employed at Ross Simons for decades. She was totally unprofessional and thoroughly incompetent. The Ross Simons store in Warwick is always empty now. The only cars in the lot belong to the few employees who still work there and after my experience with this person, I can see why. Ross Simons is no longer a fine jewelry store. Thankfully, I was able to immediately drive over to Baxter's on Jefferson Boulevard. I purchased a beautiful diamond ring from them and their customer service is second to none. I should have known better and just started at Baxters. They immediately evaluated the problem and came up with a solution. I dropped my necklace off with confidence and I am so excited I will finally be able to wear it again thanks to the real professionals at this establishment. The quality of the piece of jewelry was horrendous. The emeralds were a light green. Unacceptable. The piece was so flimsy that I was afraid it would bend or fall apart. UPDATE: I would like to share how this matter was resolved and give appropriate credit to Ross-Simons for the decency and integrity of how they handled the situation. The manager of the flagship store and the estate buyer, Tom, both contacted me, true to what they said they would do. It turns out that there was a mistake in how they advertised the piece that I bought. I now believe it to be an honest mistake, not any kind of misrepresentation. I now think I was WRONG in suggesting that there was any kind of intentional misrepresentation. Mistakes will occur but how they are rectified (or not) determines how trustworthy a business is. Ross-Simons proved trustworthy! CONSUMER BEWARE: Ross-Simons sold me expensive estate earrings they claimed to be 18k gold and claimed to be authentic Tiffany & Co. The earrings are, in fact, clearly marked as partially 14k, and have clearly been altered so that they are not true original Tiffany earrings. All of this is obvious from a physical inspection of the earrings, and none of this was disclosed. Even more shameful, before ordering I called and was assured, in a recorded conversation, that the earrings were authentic Tiffany and 18k. This is outright consumer fraud. read more

They used to be a great go to jeweler for gifts etc. Last year I bought a scareb bracelet and it never fit right and the links are hollow....they bend. Its very cheap for what I paid. I also bought a pair of gold hug earrings and the clasp broke within 6 months. I'm very disappointed in the service and the quality. They used to be great and now they are below average. I have purchased a half dozen or so small pieces from them over the years, but nothing especially expensive. They are ok for basic items such as gemstone stud earrings. I think a lot of their more expensive pieces are overpriced. You can get a much better deal and better quality from Macy's. Honestly I don't find a lot of their merchandise appealing. Be aware that if you sign up for their VIP program, it automatically renews unless you specifically indicate on the website that you don't want the automatic renewal. They take the discount off after tax, so it's not taken directly from the actual price of the item. read more

A jeweler that I can trust and that aims to please. Sweet heaven. I consider myself a savvy shopper who sometimes researches the heck out of any major purchase over $100 (sometimes less). Compulsively so, according to my husband. But you know what? No second guessing for this gal when I do pull the trigger and lay the cash on the table to pick up the goods. And the research isn't on the product itself. My data analysis is far-reaching on the overall establishment that sells said-item, including (but not limited to) their reputation and customer service leading up to the point of sale. My expectations are probably higher because I'm in the customer service / sales industry and I know that great service isn't a fancy option - it's a requirement. Enough of the bio...but maybe just a tad more. Leading up to the purchase here, I was looking for a diamond anniversary band to celebrate a milestone anniversary. I researched the kind of band, setting, carat weight and quality that I wanted. It was just a matter of finding "the ring" for the right price. Honestly, Ross-Simons was the last place I looked because I figured it would be overpriced and poor quality. Something about the big chain store perception that I had. I also figured they would skimp on their service. With a huge web site operation, I figured quality in - store sales folks would be scarce. Wrong and wrong. My experience had a lot to do with Donna, my sales person. I went in-store to view an item I had seen on the internet because of some fabulous pricing. While there, she suggested that I look at another piece (larger carat weight,same quality, lower price) that was offered on the internet. I was definitely interested but wanted to try it on, so she called in the item from another store. AND - despite the fact that the sale was ending - agreed to honor the sale price on whichever item I chose. No pushy sales plug - this research-a-holic's dream! I ended up loving the piece she suggested. Loved the lower price. And LOVED that the sales person was looking out for this customer's interests rather than what she got in her commission check... The result is that I have been back to work with Donna again for some gift purchases since. They carry higher end mens' jewelry and watches, Mikimoto pearls, LLadro, Princess pearls (for the young ladies),some fine estate pieces and of course, diamond jewelry of all sorts. It's tacky for a girl to say what her ring bling is worth, but let's just say that this deal was a steal with great service that will keep me a faithful customer for many years to come. read more

Bought an expensive jewelry box from here. Item arrived damaged (there was a scratch on the back and the lock didnt work). Immediately I repackaged the item and started the process for a return. Ross-Simons told me that a UPS guy would be by to pick up the item. 50 phone calls and emails later it is now December 28 and I still haven't been able to return this package. Ross-Simons insists on this UPS pick up because of the value of the item... but I've bought far more expensive items online including furniture and have never had to go through this bullshit. EVER. I called Ross-Simons today and they basically told me that its out of their hands and I need to deal with UPS directly. I have never experienced such incompetency in my life with any retailer or been treated so poorly. I am going to report this to the Better Business Bureau. This is horrific. read more

I purchased an estate piece online for a significant amount of money - it was a pendant with a gold chain. The gold chain broke within 3 weeks. In order to fix it, they wanted me to send the entire piece back. I refused, since it was only the chain that was broken. I didn't want to risk sending such a valuable pendant back and forth in the post when it was completely unnecessary. Ross-Simons customer support said they couldn't help me then - it was all or nothing, which was ludicrous. I had to take the chain to a local jeweler to repair. They need to rethink their philosophy on customer support and make their customers happy, especially those that spend a lot of money consistently at their store. Too bad, too. I'm very disappointed with this jewerly company . They make the Internet pictures look so elegant however when the products come in the description is way off . They don't provide free return unless you are a member which they charge you $95 to become a member. That is absolutely ridicules. When you call the customer service line they put you on hold for minutes and the phone gets discounted . I have to keep calling back to solve my issue . What else Um , oh they inform you they have a 50 coupon that they allow you to use on your next purchase but never send it . I will no no longer will be ordering anything from them again .
