The night started off "so-so" with the quality of service and quickly went from bad to worse. Unfortunately, our food had an unsuspecting 'critter' literally ready to get eaten on the fork!! Yeap, the worst part, it appeared to be a larva/bug that was moving. Grossed out... ABSOLUTELY!!!... shocked, stunned, appalled, disappointed, scared.... lots of emotions & for sure, a newly developed sense of "investigating my food with a lot more details moving forward". All of this before we got to the main courses. I immediately took a photo and gave it to one of the managers while in shock. Initially, they seemed unphased and gave to the other manager (Chelsea) who quickly noted the concerns and shared immediately with the cooking staff while at the order/pickup window. I came over and the response from her too was shock. We were all at a loss of words as this was our 1st experience here and was looking forward to the meal. I had a business dinner at Rossi Italian on Wednesday around 5:30. I did make a reservation to ensure we had a table as there was a concert downtown. We were seated immediately and our server was over promptly. The menu is delightful with delicious entrees and drink offerings. The pasta dish we had was very good. I was watching all the dishes go past and each one looked delicious and brought smiles to each person. The restaurant is trendy chic with a cool vibe about it. I made reservations for dinner since we were catching a show near by. When I got there, I was told that there was a wait because they had so many reservations at the same time. I did get upset and asked, what's the point of the reservation if I have to wait??? The hostess was very indifrent and just said we had to wait. Even though I was upset, we decided to wait. Two minutes into our wait a very nice lady came out from the bar area and gave us a prosecco flute while we waited. She was very friendly and apologetic, she immediately changed my mood. I will say I was HANGRY but I understand things happen. Thankfully our wait was not long, we got seated in the bar area, my reservation was for the main area but it was ok. The decor is so nice that it didn't matter where we sat. Our server was very nice and attentive, she comped us an appetizer for the wait, we didn't ask for it she just brought it out. In town for a conference and after a quick Google decided to swing by here for lunch on my way to the show!! Best decision ever, I ordered the beet salad and the zucchini chips and I can't even begin to tell you which one was better. What an amazing quick lunch. The zucchini chips are absolutely addictive. They're so thin and crispy and the beet salad is unbelievable. It's something to do with a mix of the yellow and red beats, but then also the crispy beet chips and the goat cheese and fruit... top-notch! I found this place a little odd -- some aspects seem finer dining, some super casual -- but it's absolutely a spot worth being on your list for dinner before downtown events. Our server was great and they have the handheld payment machine AND the payment QR on the receipt, so splitting up payments as a group was quick and easy. I'm not big on Italian wines so had a non-Italian red he recommended and it was nice. All of the glass wine prices were reasonable. We had some pizzas and salad and everything was good. Well, my friend came across this restaurant on Instagram and it looked good. It LOOKED good....it wasn't great, and the only thing I could say was "good" was the whipped ricotta and focaccia. We asked for recommendations cause it was our first time and she gave us 2 pasta recommendations and the. Said, "what more do you want me to say?" OK place for a fast dinner before a downtown event, but not a destination. Made a reservation for our group of 8 on a Sunday night. The hostess and server who took our order were both friendly. But after that, the service was a little crazy. The food came out really fast, all at once. We got appetizers, salads, pasta, pizzas all delivered to the table at one time. All the food delivered before we had even gotten the drinks we ordered. The servers stood there akwardly trying to figure out how to make the plates fit, but didn't stop to think if maybe they should have just slowed their roll. Food was ok but pro tip, unless you are in a big hurry, ask them to bring the food in courses or maybe order a little bit at a time. We were seated, served, and done eating in 30 minutes. Food was overall ok. Bruschetta had ok toppings but the bread was really soft. House salad was basic, though the greens were fresh. Beet salad was a bit more interesting. Gnocchi burrata were cooked well, but the sauce was a little flat. Caccio e pepe was excellent, truly. We ordered a few orders to share and the serving sizes were significantly different from one plate to the next. Meat eaters in the group liked the Diavolo pizza but the margherita was undercooked and doughy, not nearly as good as versions we've had at Pomo on many occasions. We ordered tiramisu to share- it's huge and tastsy, but the experience was so odd. The server who delivered it asked if we wanted spoons.... um, yes, or maybe we were supposed to eat with our hands? My table ended up ordering seven dishes for five: - Shrimp and calamari fritters - Creamy polenta short rib (best appetizer!) - Gramigna saliccia (best pasta!) - Roasted chicken - Pork chop milanese (best entree!) - Baked maccheroni - Tagliatelle short rib The pasta was cooked to *perfection.* I especially loved the gramigna saliccia, which was creamy, balanced with mushrooms, and the perfect texture to bite. I'd also highly recommend the creamy polenta short rib as an appetizer. The short rib in any of their dishes was super tender. If you didn't want to order quite as much, I'd skip the shrimp/calamari (which was half non-seafood fillers) and the roasted chicken (which was well-cooked but underseasoned). Also, happy hour on their website says daily 3-6, however upon arriving we learned it is actually only M-F 3-6 and only in the bar and patio area. Stopped in for an early dinner while we were in the area. Perfect location for when there are games happening as it's close to the venue. Since there wasn't a game on the day that we went, there was no problem with seating. We ordered a few appetizers and pastas. The zucchini chips were so thinly sliced they melted in your mouth and were delicious. Taste wise I preferred the Parmesan fries. I wasn't thrilled with my cacio e Pepe as it was incredibly salty, but the pasta itself was cooked well. Everyone else at my table seemed to enjoy their meals. I was really excited to try this place, and I know people love it... but it just wasn't my favorite. I usually like the crust on Italian, wood fired styled pizza and this one didn't do it for me. It annoys me a little when I try to grab a slice and all the toppings slide off, so it wasn't the best intro for me. The pizza itself was average for me. The pasta was pretty good but nothing stood out to be versus a vodka pasta I'd get from any other place. I also had the tiramisu and did like this. I think overall, parking is difficult in downtown (they do validate for the cityscape garage). I do live in downtown but it's difficult to navigate. But we didn't see anyone for silverware for 5 more minutes. Cocktails took 10 minutes and arrived well after our appetizer. The Tuscan chicken and parm were ordered by others in my party and they were played beautifully and had great reviews from them. My friend had the chicken pesto panini and she raved about it! The service was very European, they don't come check on you a bunch they expect you to relax and chill and that's how it is overseas so if you're looking for a server up your booty asking you every couple minutes if you need anything don't come here! The restaurant was cool not cold like I said they want you to relax and enjoy yourself which I totally did! The music was there but not too loud to have to yell or feel any silence and the water was super tasty which seems like it should be a given but in AZ you never know!! First impression was pretty good for an Italian restaurant downtown at a reasonable price. Staff was friendly and communicated well. We weren't pressed for time but did have a timeline to be at a comedy show and never once had to request something be done quickly to help us out. Food was good wife and I split the brussel sprouts and gnocchi. Our friends shared the Calamari and New York strip. Food: the grilled focaccia was great, a little Smokey flavor and a delicious pesto sauce. The beef carpaccio ohh so delicious. I did ask for a little lemon but that's just preference. Came here prior to an event service was good waitress was busy and only came to check on us once. When she did, we mentioned that the charcuterie board had lots of jams and spreads but no bread or crackers to spread it on. She said that does not come with bread or crackers and that you have to order a side order of bread if you want bread. To me this makes no sense, especially if the board has at least two spreadable cheeses and three different jams or spreads. The short rib polenta was very good as well as the whipped Ricota and honey. My suggestion for the charcuterie board is to either have it come with a side of bread or inform anyone who is ordering it that it does not come with bread and ask if they would like to order a side of bread at that time.
