I've eaten here twice and it's growing on me. Really good food and cold beer was what I was looking…read morefor. They have about 20 beers on taps. Not as many Hazy IPA's as I would like but they had the Reingiist Truth which is real solid local beer that tastes even better on Tap. Wide variety of food options with leanings towards Greek food which I think I was told the two owners are Greek brothers. But they had all kinds of different option for lots of different pallets. At restaurants, I usually try to order one of their specialties. At J Taps, I ordered the Gyro and steak fries. It was probably the best Gyro I can remember having. The super sweet waitress was quick to bring out my order so it was hot a juicy. The gyro was generously sized and extremely tasty from the first to last bite. I almost couldn't finish it but it was so good. I have a rule not to eat until I'm stuffed, but it was so good, I broke my rule. The steak fries were hot and crispy and I received a generous proportion. My young waitress was very kind. My wife was out of town and not liking to cook for one, I was by myself. I spent 40 years traveling for business and have eaten out thousands of times by myself and I can't remember many wait staff going out of their way, even though they are busy, to talk to me more than to take the order. She went out of her way and even though I'm fine eating alone, it really was appreciated and reminded me that it's not what you say, it's how you make people feel that they remember. I will remember her out of the way kindness more than anything. There looked to be a lot of regular customers, mostly couples, who knew each other. It got pretty busy by the time I left at 6:25 or so. The facility was somewhat outdated and dark, but it worked. J-taps is worth a visit for lunch, dinner or a couple drinks.

Service is shit don't recommend this place because it's crap got treated like my homeread more

Wow. This place is a TOTAL surprise, in a good way!…read more Upon entering you'll notice it is super clean, spick and span, and even though I guess you would call it a dive or a saloon the owner is meticulous and really cares about his establishment. Mike (the owner himself) was our bartender for the night and he was incredibly sweet. He shared his story and it had SO much history behind it. Turns out Second Street Saloon gets it's name because it used to be located on second street downtown. After so many years his lease was up and he decided to make the Westside home - hence why this bar does not feel uniquely "west side." He moved every piece of memorabilia he had collected over the 25+ years of owning it into this new location. Now, I usually hate collages and junk on the wall but his are framed and look really nice. There are many framed photos of Cincinnati from the 1800's on. He also had the original door from Second St. framed and hung next to the bar - which by the way is an antique that he had picked out and appraised by the Wooden Nickel. They had more than enough craft beer and local beer available that you got a decent selection but didn't feel overwhelmed. It was also a pint night where you got to keep the glass. We played darts and really had a great time here. At the end of our bar crawl we all agreed that we could have spent the entire night here at Second Street. For what it is, this place gets 5 stars from me, and I can't wait to go back.

The bartenders are as friendly as they come and keep even the busiest crowds happy. WATCH OUT! If you don't like standing room only- Late Friday and Saturday nights aren't for you- but that's when the fun begins for me!! This isn't a pretentious bar like Bartini or Mynt Martini Club but it is a friendly clean and well priced neighborhood bar that you will find yourself coming back to on a regular basis!
