This is my third time coming to Roy's within a month and to tell you the truth every is delicious, filling and reasonable. There have been times we have arrived to a full house where there is a small wait to only us in the restaurant. I have ordered several different items from the menu and everything arrives fresh and is serve as a hearty meal. Rosy is friendly and attentive whether she's busy with multiple tables or bussing a couple of tables and taking phone orders. I highly recommend this new spot for a different variety of food to cater to everyone needs or cravings. Kudos to her and staff. read more

What a perfect hidden gem in Hayward. A block and a half from Val's. Well worth the stop. My wife and I came in for Saturday Brunch. My wife had a Club sandwich on white bread with fries. Classic Diner fare. Could have been mediocre but it was not! As close to perfect for Club Sandwich as I have ever seen. Of course my wife did not share it with me at all. But she is the expert. Crisp Bacon, Deli Turkey, Deli Ham, Lettuce, Tomato, mayonnaise and culinary perfection. Fries were shoestring and perfect, crisp on the outside and melty on the inside. Rating simply perfect-5 I had what I always have 3 Eggs Over Easy, Hashbrowns, sourdough toast, a short stack and coffee. Classic simple breakfast. Perfect in presentation and in preparation. The eggs were absolutely over easy. Truly the mark of an expert. The Hashbrowns should have been perfect as well, but did not have the exterior crust I adore, but they were moist and flavorful on the inside. I piled the three eggs on top of the Hashbrowns and then peppered them. Splashed Tabasco over it all along with the homemade salsa which had some zip to it and lots of flavor. Breakfast heaven. The eggs were a 5, Hashbrowns were a 2 for preparation, 5 for serving, 4 for flavor and a 3 overall. No salt needed. Toast was well buttered and fresh. Coffee was strong and exceptional. We enjoyed our breakfast, starting at 8:30 and ending casually as the rush started at 9:30. Service was attentive. The bathroom was clean and pleasant and well appointed. Parking was ample. We will be back to taste the rest of what Rosy does. This place is exceptional. read more

I've been coming to this place for years and it's the best! I always get the breakfast burrito. The burrito is so big, my boyfriend and I usually share one and it gets us full. The hobo plates are great value and their omelettes are huge. I usually call ahead for takeout and the food is always ready in 10-15 mins. read more

I love family restaurants and this is just that. It is family owned and it is wonderful for you and your family. Everything that I have tried from a omelette to the house potatoes to the French toast has been great! I only wish they have more options for veggie eater or not red meat eater. But that is just a small issue compared to the service it great we are always greeted right away by Rosy the owner and you can sit at any open sit. The food comes fast and she comes around to make sure you are doing okay which I really appreciate when going to eat especially when taking my kids! We were intending to go to Val's this past weekend for breakfast, but discovered they were closed for vacation. Did a quickie Yelp search and found Rosy's Cafe just a block away. Cute little location in a strip mall. I had the Mexican Hobo ($8 !!)which is like Chilaquilies with scrambled egg and a hot tomatillo salsa. It was sooo good. And spicy. Had to make myself stop eating it and take some home. Hubs had corned beef hash ($9) and he loved it. He's never had it fried so well with a delicious crisp crust on it. Headed out to Rosy's with some friends and this place was packed but we got seated in 5 minutes so not bad. The friends and I shared the buffalo wings and I got the Huevos Rancheros and they got a Cheese Burger and the Pork Chops and Eggs. The wings were pretty good but my friend thought her pork chops was pretty tough. I liked my rancheros and my other friend enjoyed her burger. This place does charge 0.50 cents to pay by card which I thought was a little odd since it is more like a sit down restaurant. We also had a lot of leftovers and asked if we could get a bag. They said bags were 0.10 cents which I didn't see coming at a restaurant especially since I paid around $60 for food. I don't think I will be back unless I'm ever in the area again. read more

This place was extremely small, best described as "a hole in the wall restaurant." I've been seeing this place on Yelp and there has been a few things I've wanted to try. I came on Father's Day thinking it would take an hour to get a table but surprisingly I was seated in about 3 minutes. I was kind of hung up on what I wanted to order since I had a few things in mind, anyways I decided to go with the hungry hobo. I also trekked the French toast. The hungry hobo was had the perfect balance of eggs, potatoes, linguica, onions, peppers, and cheese. I ordered a side of gravy and put gravy and tobasco on top and it made it even that more better. The French toast was also really good they had a nice crisp to them but were still fluffy and had a great flavor. I was so pleased with the food. One thing I was a little disappointed about was that they were out of biscuits so I just had to order toast. One last thing I would like to add is that the service was pretty fast I got all of my food 10 minutes after ordering and that is always a plus. I'm glad I finally got to give this place a try I can't wait to come back and try more things! read more

Takeout hobo breakfast. First impressions. Tasty gravy with the biscuit, but would have preferred the biscuit to have traveled home outside of the to-go container so it wouldn't have gotten soggy. LOVE they use compostable paper to-go containers, and that I didn't get plastic utensils! I enjoy a good everything scramble, however I'd like there to be an appropriate ratio of EVERYTHING. After the first few bites, I was trying to connect with some meat, egg or anything other than potato. Part of me was thinking, now you know why it's called the hobo scramble... cuz its broke! hella papas! On the other hand, I thought, what do you expect for $10. Otherwise it's a combination of standard American breakfast and Mexican breakfast as well as some lunch items. Hubby and I came here for brunch at 9:45 and got the last table before a line formed. I hadn't had a waffle in a long time so I got a Belgian waffle with two eggs and sausage. It was pretty good. The waffle was so soft and fluffy! Hubby got the hobo breakfast which he thought was pretty tasty. The service was good, our servers were sweet, friendly, and quick. The food was very good but not impressive enough to give a five and the maple syrup was imitation, not 100% real. But it was good enough that I would go back if I'm in the area again. read more

Service: POOR. -I walked into the restaurant holding my baby and the waitress tells my parents and I to take a seat. She didn't even try to offer me a high chair for my baby. -We waited for our check for about 15 minutes, after it didn't come, we just walked up to the counter to pay. I definitely didn't feel welcome here. The place was nearly empty when we arrived and our service was disastrously slow. The sluggish service seemed purposefully unfriendly and was coupled by food you could find in any hole in the wall which certainly didn't impress me or my friend. I tried not to make a big deal out of the disappointing experience so as to avoid hurting my friend's feelings since she picked this yawn. Since there's zero ambiance and it's not particularly accessible unless you happen to shop in the neighborhood strip mall there's no reason to take a crapshoot. Came here for breakfast because of the good reviews and close location.. we didn't wait long even though they were busy but we sure waited long for our food. I thought atleast the kids order would come out first since it was just pancakes but not even that came. We finally asked someone for our food and he came back with it right away. (Should have asked a little sooner than giving them more time). No refill on our coffee and I usually don't mind waiting esp when it's busy, but at the least they could have come by and checked on us. The food was okay.. nice to try it out but I don't think I'll try it again. read more
