This is a review on the DISHONEST BUSINESS practice at Rosy's. Let me explain. When we go to a restaurant and instructed to walk up to the register to pay for our food, we put our trust on the cashier. We pay the amount the cashier tells us. Right? Don't! Not at Rosy's Cafe. Do not trust the heavy set lady when she rings you up. First of all, she does not give you a breakdown nor does she give you your receipt. Second, she does not bother to use the cash register to print your receipt (probably they do not report their sales to the IRS). Just like the 2 trusting people paying ahead of us, she just blurted out our tab $30.24. This is the point where you WATCH OUT. She just jacked up your tab. VERY DISHONEST! Although we paid the questionable amount, we approached the manager to ASK FOR AN ITEMIZED RECEIPT. Did I say ITEMIZED? She seemed offended and arrogantly says, "...look it up yourself. It's there in the menu." Huh?? Why the attitude? Defensive because they pad your bill. So, we looked it up in the menu: --Joe's Special Omelet = $10 -- add Avocado = $ 2 --Pork Chops and Eggs = $11 --1 Coffee = $ 2.50 Subtotal $25.50 9.75% Sales Tax $ 2.49 --TOTAL: $27.99 So, where did the $30.24 come from? It is but a few dollars difference; but, why cheat? Why take advantage of a customer? Folks, we wanted to support the local Hayward business. But NOT DISHONEST business. read more

Rosy's cafe is brand new in the Hayward area, hidden away in the grocery outlet plaza. I came here for breakfast and I was surprised at how good the food was. They've got generous portions for a super reasonable price. Love that they didn't just slap big portions on to the plate and call it a meal. You could tell that everything was seasoned because each bite was filled with flavor. Wish I took a picture before I dug in, but I got the corned beef hash and eggs. NEVER EVER GOING BACK HERE AGAIN. 11/15: me, wifey and my kid went here because we're trying to find a good breakfast spot for a change. I looked here on Yelp to see what's good and this popped. Came here because it had 4 1/2 star reviews and hey, it should be good right? NO, NO, NO, HELL NO. I ordered the Special #3 (2 pancakes, sausage and scrambled egg) and side order of French toast. The pancake was ok. So was the sausage and the scrambled egg was bland as hell. French toast was the real surprise. The bread was just hard and really bland. It was just straight up covered in eggs, like you can literally see the yolk part that it was covered with. I believed they used a regular white bread with it, not like other restaurants that use a real French bread. Wifey ordered the Hotlink sandwich with curly fries. I tried it and i can tell you that taco trucks can make it so much better. It was just tasteless even with everything on it. Hotlink wasn't even "hot". The sandwich itself wasn't even hot even tho they advertised it as "hot sandwich". Curly fries was just hell. It was hard, tasteless and stale. My kid (3 yr old) had the kids meal corndog with fries and strawberry milkshake. She usually finishes her corndog (she loves corndogs!) but this time she only took a bite out of and 3-4 pieces of the fries even tho that was her meal/food of the day! I can tell you much that she wasn't feeling the corndog at all. The strawberry milkshake tasted like plastic for some odd reason. It didn't taste anything close to a milkshake! Food wasn't even the biggest issue here folk. Remember I ordered the French toast on the side? It had 6 halves of the toast itself, and I only took half of one of the pieces because it was that bad. Like I said, the bread was hard, bland, and just awful. Even with the syrup! So when I called the lady and told them about my issue, she asked me if I wanted it and I said no, she asked why and I told her the issues I had with it. She then asked me if I wanted to pack it up to go and I said no. Here comes the bill. Came to the cashier to pay for our food. Everything came up to $40.60. I payed and went to go back to my table. I told my wife what I payed and she said "why so much? Didn't you return the French toast?" I said oh yeah huh so I though they just forgot to take out the French toast from the bill......no..... they still charged me for it. I asked for the breakdown and the lady told me what we ordered, not the price of each food. And so I told her that I returned the French toast, did you still charge me with it? She said "yes of course!" I go, why? I returned it cause I didn't like it. She then told me with an attitude, "well why did you returned it? What's wrong?" And so again I told her my issues. She goes "well that's what you ordered, of course I'm gonna charge you! You didn't wanna take it so I charge!" And me not wanting to be confrontational about it, I just simply nodded my head and said "ok got it". So pretty much I got charged for something that I only did not even eat the whole thing but I also got a little side of attitude from the lady that works there. Plus, no one even bothered checking us up after they gave us our food if we needed anything else. I had to come up to them to ask them for a refill on my water. and not only that, I also saw them give the French toast that I sent back to an old lady and a kid that was in the back (guessing it's family) and they ate and I STILL GOT CHARGED FOR IT when I only ate 1 out of the 6 toast. STAY AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESSS. ITS BAD. I would never ever go back to this place at all until they change up everything. Food sucks, customer service was horrible, overall was just a disaster. My only mistake was I didn't check the written review, I only went for the star review of the place. HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. read more

Ordered here twice in the last few months. The first time I had breakfast. The potatoes were not cooked through. I gave them another chance since the pandemic has been overwhelming for some restaurants. They seem to be busy but this has resulted in a decrease in quality and service. Amazing! It's kind of out of sight, so if you weren't looking for it you may not ever come across it, but I'm so glad I decided to go for the first time this morning. It doesn't look like much on the outside, but it's truly a hidden gem. Service is super quick and efficient. Food is delicious. Great prices and big portions. Food here has always been delicious. I just knocked it down a star due to my order being wrong one time. They did fix the mistake and apologized. I usually get the Breakfast Burrito with all the meats and it is delicious. They have a house salsa that compliments the Burrito very well. I'll taste whatever my wife orders and it has all been good. Place is a bit small so it can get busy there. read more

My husband was just hunting around for a breakfast place and found this gem. Yummy food and warm vibe. I had the French toast (yum!) and my husband had the Chile verde omelette (super yum!). First time being here, it was a good family owned breakfast spot. They had a lot of delicious sounding Mexican breakfast options. That's why I picked this place. I typically like to dine at a family owned business when I can. The food was really good, I ordered the large hobo. It was a scramble mix with Linguiça,veggies, potatoes and a side of toast. The food was good. After our food was brought to us we never saw a waiter again. We never got checked up on and wanted water. We eventually flagged down the waiter. All in all I would recommend this place for the food options but don't expect to be checked up on. You also have to get up to pay at the register. read more

Believe the hype! The food is great. The service is friendly. My girlfriend and I came here for breakfast today. It was busy for the limited staff, so the servers weren't talkative. However, they tried their best and it was understandable. My girlfriend got the chorizo and eggs with home fries and tortilla, and I got the large hobo with biscuits and gravy. I tried hers and it was delicious. As was mine. I did get an option for toast but stuck with the biscuits. They have other off-menu items posted along the counter too, like a breakfast sandwich with fries. But again, I knew what I wanted. I also liked sitting in the chairs by the kitchen. I was able to look over and see the chef cooking everything. Some people may not like the seating arrangement but it is what it is. Maybe with time they will upgrade but for the prices and servings, you can't complain. I'll be back with friends and out of town guests. read more

Every restaurant has a bad day, I happen to catch rosy on one of those days. Ordered a beverage and entree for breakfast. Both came on wrong. Beverage order was hot tea and I got coffee. It was very good coffee, but it was not hot tea. The breakfast order was for country ham and regular ham was served. The server did not notice difference in appearance when serving the order. The ordered was rung up at the register as country ham. The breakfast was good, just not what I ordered. read more

This is my husband and my favorite breakfast spot! While it definitely has the same appearance of many other simple diners, the food is delicious for a good price. Our go-to meal to split is the hot & hungry hobo (eggs, bacon, linguica, veggies, potatoes, jalepenos, cheese) and a waffle with extra bacon. Yum! read more

One of the better diners I've ever eaten at, and I worked in food service for years. Excellent service by the proprietor and the food was quick, prepared perfectly and top quality. Even the scrambled eggs were beautiful pillows -- better than I ever made on a griddle. The seating is comfortable and everything is nice and clean. Very adorable diner with fun mugs. They had the sweetest little waitress ever who did a wonderful job helping us. I got the juevos rancheros and it was amazing.
