    Chilaquiles with carne asada.

I have eaten here a few times now. Each visit has been for breakfast. Today I tried champorado for the first time. Champorado is a Mexican hot chocolate with a little corn meal and a little flour to thicken it a little. Then they add cinnamon and vanilla. It was really great! The breakfast comes with beans and French fries on the side. Today I had the chilaquiles with carne asada. The beef had small diced tomatoes mixed with it, and topped off with cheese. I ate the whole thing. I added a hefty amount of the house salsa Caliente, which was more flavor than heat. It was delicious. My wife had the chicken soup. She really enjoyed the broth. It came with a serving of rice and tortillas, which was boxed with some of the chicken. She just couldn't finish it all. I can only attest to how it looked and smelled.

The location is not the best but the inside is super clean, plenty of seating, it was fresh inside. First of all my mother saw this place on a commercial and wanted to come and try it out. I had never been here so I said "what the heck, why not" - we were greeted with a smile and seated quickly. Hot & Fresh coffee! Waitress informed us of what the specials were. I ended up going with the chillaquiles con costilla.. this is legit authentic Mexican food. My plate did not stand a chance, my mother ordered the same and my father ordered the chorizo breakfast plate which was very good as well not greasy what so ever. I will return, I took a pic of my plate and you can see the chorizo plate in the background. Left full and with a smile on my face. My only negative would be the fries, I'm not really a fry fan in the am. Prices are fair.

I could order on the phone so when we got out of our little business we went to pick up. At first I didn't know it was a food truck. But then when we got to the place we saw it. So when we got there they were making them and they didn't take that long to finish. They were good despite the look the taste was there. The salsa needed to be a little bit spicier. We were gladly surprised that they were good. I highly recommend. The price was modest.

Some of the Salvadorian offerings include: pupusas with combinations of cheese, garlic, mushrooms, squash, jalapeño, beans, pork, and rice; pastelitos (which are Salvadorian empanadas filled with minced meat and spices); yuca fries, caramelized bananas with cajeta (a rich caramel made from goat's milk) or banana empanadas coated in sugar. Mexican menu offerings include tacos, burritos, sopes, quesabirria tacos, gorditas, mulitas, huaraches (similar to a large, open-faced taco on a thick gordita-like base), and quesadillas. If you have little ones with less cultured tastebuds, Pupuseria Los Guanaquitos is happy to accommodate with their kids' menu featuring quesadillas, chicken nuggets, and fries. Our family tried a variety of items from the menu on our recent visit, including the revuelta (cheese, beans and pork), cheese and garlic, and cheese and jalapeño pupusas, the yuca fries, quesabirria tacos, and banana empanadas. My personal favorites with the cheese and jalapeño pupusas and the yuca fries. If yuca is new to you, the flavor is mild, and the texture is similar to that of a potato. It's sliced and fried with crispy layers surrounding it and a flavorful sauce is included on the side for dipping.

I enjoyed my time at the Mezcal Lounge on Saturday…read more The place was full of people, music was pretty good, bartenders were busy. Over 100 people stayed until the last song. Overall, the sound quality is good. I am a club sound engineer and have no complaints. There are no speakers pointing to near the bar, so you can expect it to be quieter although that also results in muffled lyrics. For full experience, dance in front of the lighting truss. There is a lot of VIP seating, including one area above the dance floor. I didn't go into VIP areas, but I didn't see dedicated speakers for them and so the music is likely quieter there. Lights are moving 3x3 LED matrix heads. They have enough of them. For the right music, they can become strobes. I love strobes! They have enough bartenders to keep your waiting time to a minimum. Demographics trended toward younger women of whom there was no shortage. :) Special thanks to security. They mopped drink spills very quickly. That is always appreciated. Overall, I plan to bring my dance partner here another time even though I live 200+ miles away. P.S. At the end of that particular night, they switched into full-on rave mode. It made it special. :)

No bar stools! No benches nothing!! And the only standing area is BEHIND the speakers so the music sounds very bass heavy and muffled behind the speakers. Horrible. Drinks are VERY EXPENSIVE, staff isn't friendly. WHY anyone who here is beyond me?!

This place is officially bookmarked for every future drive through Fresno!…read more The lengua and chicharrón tacos were honestly some of the best I've ever had. I also sampled the carnitas on top of crispy taco shells as well. The meat was incredibly tender, juicy, and packed with flavor, and the tortillas came out hot, fresh, and perfectly cooked. Every bite reminded me why simple food done right is hard to beat. I was hoping to try the mojara frita, menudo, and barbacoa, only to find out the menudo and barbacoa are weekend only specialties. Needless to say, I was pretty disappointed, but it also gives me a great reason to come back. What really stood out, beyond the food, was the hospitality. David, who appears to have been running the place for over 20 years, was incredibly charismatic and provided the kind of customer service that seems harder and harder to find these days. You can tell he genuinely cares about both the restaurant and the people who walk through the door. One of my favorite parts of the visit was when I saw the owner come out and greet the regulars and customers. The interactions felt sincere and heartfelt, not forced. There was a real sense of community here, as if customers weren't just patrons but part of an extended family. That kind of atmosphere is special and says a lot about the people behind the business. Great food, warm hospitality, and a welcoming environment--I'll definitely be back, hopefully on a weekend next time.

I don't think I've ever felt betrayed by Yelp reviews...until now…read more During a recent road trip we stopped here to picked up some lunch/dinner because tacos are quick and easy and their Yelp rating is high. Location/services: Upon entering the building I immediately noticed the heat. It was a hot 98 degree day and the restaurant felt like an oven and was maybe 3-5 degree cooler than it was outside. I then quickly noticed this was a very simple operation (almost like a food truck), and not much to the menu, but there were folks sitting and eating and a few others waiting to order, so I assumed the food must be great. We ordered 4 meals (tacos with rice/beans) which was meant to be eaten there but after waiting in line and feeling like we were in a hot box, we decided to make it to go. We sat and waited for our food (about 20 mins), we chatted and observed our surroundings and it became very apparent the restaurant was not maintained with basic cleaning because it was very grimy and just plain dirty. I then used the restroom and it was absolutely disgusting. Our ordered was called and the staff was very nice. The food: As I mentioned, we got 4 orders of tacos (all carne asada) with rice/beans, and we asked for salsa and limes. We got grilled jalapenos, lemons and one sandwhich baggy filled with red salsa. Not a big deal. The meat was fine but the tortillas were inedible. They were tough, flavorless, and greasy. The bean and rice were ok. We ate enough to curb our hunger but none of us finish our food. Upon my best judgement, I had convinced myself that the food was gonna be great because their Yelp rating told me so. I was so wrong! One last note, there was nothing here that resembled a bakery/panaderia. So if you think you could also grab a treat here, you are wrong.
