Went here for a root canal a couple years ago and found out I had a broken tooth that needed to be extracted. I believe Dr Rothstein is not there anymore but he performed my extraction. I went in to get a root removed and he did a good job in doing so. He stitched up the gum and had me come back two weeks later to have them removed. However I noticed several days later that something was perturbing from the gum. He had left a stitch behind. I wound up taking it out myself and never went back. read more

My dentist for 20 years, i'm not a big fan of going to the dentist but Richard always makes me feel at home.

Let me just begin with saying that I am the biggest baby when it comes to any dental/ medical procedures. It was never in my plans to EVER extract any wisdom teeth; however, when one of them starting growing out at a slight angle, I did not really have an option. I delayed the appointment for as long as I could, until I could no longer bare the pain. Fortunately, Dr. Rothstein was able to squeeze me in for the morning after I called. I ended up extracting both of my bottom wisdom teeth and was in and out of there in less than an hour. His staff was very friendly, and the Dr.'s humor made my visit much much easier. And as if my experience couldn't get any better, he gave me a very reasonable price. I will definitely return to Mr. Rothstein's office. After searching long and hard for a dentist in my dental network in the Northridge area whose surname doesn't end in "anian," Rothstein popped up. His office was right up the street from my house, and he was able to make a Saturday appointment; so I gave him a try. His staff was very friendly, and the office was very clean. A retarded man-woman in the waiting area started repeating to me how good Dr. Rothtstein was and set off a minor alarm in the back of my mind. That is untilI realized if he-she likes Mr. Rothstein this much - he has to be good! A young girl called me back and began taking my x-rays; and yes, mother, she gave me the lead vest to wear over my chest and genital region. Mr. Rothstein was in to meet me within minutes of the young girl finishing my x-rays. The x-ray girl left, and a thicker version of the young girl came in and put on a pair of gloves with Mr. Rothstein. He was a down-to-business guy that immediately went to work on cleaning and inspecting my teeth. He attempted slight chit-chat, but paid more attention to my teeth (Which I really appreciated. After all, how can I profess my love the new Spider-Man movie when I have a full-grown man's fingers in my mouth?). 36 teeth later he said my teeth are perfect and left the room. The thick dental assistant then took over and started to polish my teeth. I think it was her first time, and missed many teeth. She finished and said, "okay, I'm gonna floss you now." She pulled out an arms length of floss and stuck it in my teeth and pulled it out as if she were demonstrating how not to properly floss. Then I was done. She propped up my chair to the upright position and said, "see you in 6 months." I've been to some good dentists, and I've been to some bad dentists, but this was an altogether decent experience. DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTIST'S OFFICE. First, Drs. Rothstein and Rojas are no longer here. This place has a revolving door of dentists, who are very rough and unprofessional. They keep you waiting for over an hour for simple cleanings. My dentist today was as arrogant and unprofessional as any I've ever had. He had a smug look on his face the whole time, reminded me of some evil guy in a bad movie. After they put the bib on me, I was then asked to get up and stand in the hall like a child, while another patient was x-rayed in my chair! They treat their patients like children. F rating. Dr. Richard Rothstein (who is not my regular dentist) is a lifesaver! He and his nurses & entire staff are also awesome.  On a Tuesday, the crown on my front tooth fell off (with a portion of the front tooth broken into the crown).  While I was frantically driving to my dentist's office, I called and initially was told to reschedule for Thursday when my own dentist, Dr. Summy Abbassi (who is also excellent) would be back.  I explained I couldn't wait as I looked like a toothless hillbilly!  Dr. Rothstein in the same office (who was all booked up with patients) was kind to squeeze me in, performed a root canal, put in a post, and performed "magic" by removing my cracked tooth stuck inside the crown and shaping everything perfectly to create a perfect fit (saving me much time & money not having to make a new crown). With over 35 years experience, he was so fast, obviously highly skilled, caring, funny and very friendly. I love that I am able to SMILE again, and I am so very grateful. The dentist (not Dr Rothstein or Dr Rojas) is not friendly and doesn't care about the patient - only getting them in and out. A few of the office staff are not friendly either and all they care about is the money. Unfortunately, I have had a lot of dental work done in my life and this is the WORST place to go for any kind of dental work. My husband and I have been with this office many years for our regular dental cleaning. We have been very happy with the service here. The staff here are nice and the dentists are not making up stories about the conditions of your teeth in order to sell extra service. They do their job well as dentists. I had X-rays to check my wisdom teeth and got a normal cleaning today and everything was quick and easy as always. I get all my regular cleanings here and I would not go anywhere else! GHETTO. My little brother came here because my dad goes to this dentist. Otherwise, we would have went to one in Pasadena, where true professionals work. We were told by a dentist in Pasadena that he needed a root canal, although if he really wanted, it could be extracted. Of course, you should always try to save a tooth. We made an appointment for a root canal but he told my brother "I can pull it right now." My brother told him that he was advised not to pull it and he said "we'll put in an implant" (which is way more expensive and extensive than a root canal.) My brother told him that he was going to call me outside and the dentist said "can't you call in here?" My brother didn't have service so had to step outside. He said that he sensed a greedy vibe from the dentist and when he told the dentist that he just wanted antibiotics to help with the infection and that he chose not to extract, the dentist threw a little bitch fit, as if he had an interest in the pulling of his tooth. He said "okay whatever that's fine I don't care." My brother told him he was having an earache, etc and the dentist said "well that's because you have a toothache." Hahaha ya think? You're so smart, dentist. Keep working out of your shack on Reseda, where broke college students will agree to have their teeth extracted because they're impulsive. Not us, though. I've been coming to Dr Rothstein for several years (never seen Dr. Rojas). I always had a positive experience. I came to him when I needed my wisdom teeth pulled. He and the staff is great. They made the procedure as painless as possible considering the fact that I was having teeth pulled, they did a great job. The ladies at the front were professional but not supper warm, but never rude like Hat E suggested. I would recommend that before you take Hat E's opinion into consideration, you should look at her profile and look at her other reviews. The first time I sat down at a station I noticed the spitting bowl was not particularly clean as I am used to ( it had greenish stains around the basin) and there was a layer of dust just everywhere. There is no communication within office. His office help is very unsophisticated. The assistant made me swallow a mouthful of amalgam and bisphenol she was a lazy suctioner and never put up the chair and asked me to spit. If you complain the Dr. mouths off it is never their responsibility like when they numbed my left side as I told the office I wanted the rt side "only" worked on twice. The lazy hispanic is elderly and is fastidious with office duties but the customer is transparent. she refused to straighten my chair and I bumped my head as well as she made me swallow amalgam juice and bisphenol juice(by the way alagam contains the poison mercury). Not a very sophisticated operation and office needs to be cleaned by a professional it doesn't have a clean feel. I also didn't appreciate the dentist walking into drill my teeth complaining about his ex-wife and her inefficiency with her "million" dollar home and tax troubles. He didn't polish the filling down and check the bite I had to complain and even come back to the office so he could fix it; which I dreaded. Very unsophisticated not what I am use to. I grew up with Dr. Leib on Ventura Blvd. and Rubio in Encino unfortunately he is retired. The office was always immaculate there was always a big selection of toys to choose from after you left, I was never scared. This office is scary they offer cheap sugary bubble gum in a dish! Very scary. The asian lady is a bit snobby too and did not report my desires to the dentist or the hispanic elderly lady didn't read her notes, there is just zero communication there. Now I have to worry about mercury poisoning and God knows what else. Stay away! Stay away! read more

I had a real emergency and contacted this 24/7 dental emergency service On Sat Eve. They told me to call Sun Mon and they will arrange for an emergency appointment with the Dr. "on call". On Sunday, they told me that "based on the information provided and the medical opinion of the doctor", I have to call Monday during regular business hours to schedule an appointment. I immediately asked what medical information they were talking about as they didn't ask questions as per to be able to determine the nature and grade of the emergency. I stated it was impossible for the doctor to have made a decision based on nothing. They asked when was the last time the doctor saw me. I explained that I was a new patient. They then replied "the emergency service does not cover new patients". That is not what they advertise everywhere and it is illegal, insensible and not professional to discriminate like that. I was a real patient with a real emergency, in pain even under Vicodin given to me at the ER. read more
