I usually like this location however the past three times I've been weren't the best. Luckily there's other Mediterranean restaurants near me. The service has gone down recently the produce is not fresh the food is cold and the most recent visit 2/15/22 the employee was on her phone with gloves on and opened a bag of lettuce and tried to make my salad without changing her gloves when I asked her too she rolled her eyes, I went to spend my money else where. read more

I used to love this restaurant. Back then, each time we would visit or any time we go in Hyde Park and if we wanted Mediterranean food this place is literally our go to place just simply because it is a lovely restaurant with nice ambiance, great customer service and affordable and definitely delicious foods but lately, we visited the restaurant again and it is not the same as before and some things did definitely change. We ordered two different bowls for takeout and I was surprised to know the price of everything we got which was unexpected because I really know this place as one of the most affordable spots in the area. I did not complain and just paid everything. Then, I was already home when I ate it and no doubt it is good, every single veggie in it is fresh and it is just all in all well-seasoned and delicious however the price of it is definitely not worth it for those two bowls we got even if it is good and I would definitely prefer some good fast food than paying for like a twice as the price of the food. read more

ALWAYS FRESH and delicious! My friend and I from work eat at Roti at least once a week and sometimes three times a week! Lol! We get a rice bowl and split it and we get an extra pita so that We can each have one. I wish I had a photo to add right now but I don't. The rice bowls are so colorful and have such a nice variety that you feel like you're actually getting some nutrition! The falafel are a perfect texture and in fact better than many Middle Eastern restaurants. I've also had the salmon kabob which is so moist and very good. I would say if you're going into the Hyde Park area for lunch you certainly should consider stopping to eat at Roti. This is a counter serve spot (similar to Chipotle style) and not formal at all. Carry-outs are common. Parking is rough however. There is street pay parking, but even that is hard to come by. Oh...very friendly service too! read more

Five star for me based on flavor, non meat options, and friendly staff who are willing to explain the menu. Hyde Park location is chill and modern-posh. Food flavor is consistent and I love how colorful the food is. You feel good about eating here. Only wish they didn't play the music so loud. Roti has always been my go to fresh vegan meal. The flavors are always on point and I can expect consistency. The only issue is the concern with the servers and the delay with the foods. My friend and I went about an hour before closing to the Hyde Park location and it was not a pleasant experience. They were completely out of rice and wasn't making anymore, the forgot to fix my friends pizza after someone always already starting prepping it but it magically disappeared. We had to wait in the chicken and pitas to cook/warm up. Now you may ask why give them 4 stars if the experience was horrible. The food was still delicious and the manager came out and apologized for the inconvenience. He provided my friend and I with a free meal card and the workers (male workers, for some reason the female workers always have attitudes and don't know how to treat customers) offered us both a free drink. Although I quick stop turned into an hour, we left we delicious food to take back to our families and a free meal in our pocket with extra pitas . Will be returning this weekend and I pray it's a better experience. read more

Food was good as always. On food, 5 stars. However, at one point a woman was cleaning something tough on the floor behind a counter with a rag. She stood up and put the rag she had used on the floor onto the food prep area while she stepped away for a moment. When she came back, she picked up the rag and went back to the floor to keep cleaning, but neither she nor anyone else cleaned or disinfected the food prep area. That's pretty gross. read more

I had to update my review and take off a star because EVERY time i get Roti delivered the order is wrong. Take tonite for example - I was supposed to get two pitas and I got zero. Hummus is listed as a side but instead it was put directly on top of both of my salads so it, along with the lettuce, had to be removed. Didn't need the hummus anyway since they left our pitas out. If you're getting Roti I strongly recommend placing your order inside the restaurant so you can watch and check your bag. Even when I order in house I check the bag before I leave because I often find that they left out a vinaigrette or a requested pita. read more

We stopped here after a full day of sightseeing in Chicago. Three people in our group of 5 are vegan, so we specifically chose this place. As we were walking in the door, the manager stopped us to say they were closing. When I explained our situation to him, he welcomed us in and made a fresh batch of falafel for us. It was really tasty, as was the cabbage/carrot slaw and couscous. The rice was seasoned nicely and the pita bread was delicious! This restaurant had fantastic food! Super healthy and customizable salads and wraps. What a find! I usually go to a falafel place but this is so healthy and fresh. I got a mixed geeens salad with falafel and all the trimmings- a spicey dressing, feta, olives, pickled beets, broccoli, cous cous, sweet potato and carrot. I've been to Roti three times since it opened. Every time I've gotten a salad with chicken. The food is pretty good, though I'd recommend avoiding the falafel. Maybe tonight was a fluke, but I think they might have a management problem. I went at 8:30p (30 minutes before they close). After my salad was halfway assembled it turned out they were out of a bunch of toppings. I asked if someone could at least grab some pickles--nope. I mean, okay. But if you're out of a bunch of stuff maybe people know before they go through the line. I would've just gone somewhere else. I wanted to take a seat, but there wasn't one. There were a few tables with people eating, but an employee had put up all the chairs on all the free tables, like they were closed. Five minutes or even ten minutes before closing time, I wouldn't complain, but half an hour? That seems excessive. If they're not willing to be full service (or at least something close to it) until their actual closing, they should just close early. read more

Like A Mediterranean Chipotle. I thought it was great. You pick sandwich, salad, or rice plate. Then, you pick meat (falafel, spicy meatballs, chicken, steak), sauces, as many sides as you want (no extra charge for more sides), and toppings. The spicy meatballs were awesome and since they are new, they were offering a free drink with the meatballs. I will definitely go back. read more

Roti was introduced to me by some friends from Europe. They said "Hey, Ken there's this great Mediterranean place coming to Hyde Park, it has fresh veggies, and meat, that's all reasonably priced. I wasn't let down at all. The meal was delectable, and the green teas are addictive lol. I ordered my meal through Uber Eats and I admit I was a little worried that my quantity would be jeopardized by doing so, but it was not! I had a huge chicken bowl and it was more that adequate for me. I however did not have much sauce to speak of, but I was given the option to add sauce and I choice not to, smh. My first time here at this location today. I wish I captured photos now that I'm reviewing. First of all, the staff were extremely friendly and good spirited. I appreciate the comforting service and the atmosphere. Gotta give a shout out to the vegetarian/ vegan side of the dishes. Cleanliness 5/5. I ordered a rice plate with falafel, cous cous, tomoatoes and cucumber, red cabbage slaw, quinoa cauliflower tabbouleh, tahini sauce, and pita bread. All slamming! This place is a joke! This was posted on Facebook with proof of a receipt! Typical liberal Hyde park ghetto shit! So we go into Roti restaurant in Hyde Park at 1526 E 53rd St, Chicago. We are Chicago Police Officers in uniform. My 2 partners and I come in to eat. My first partner paid for his food with the receipt below. So it's over 100 degrees out so my other partner and I wanted to cool off a little before we ordered. My partner that ordered got his food and sat down at the table to eat. 5 minutes later my partner wanted to wash up before he ordered. He asked the cashier Kaleel if he can use the restroom with his name on his name tag and on the receipt below. His reply is "It's for paying customers only". My partner and I looked at him with disgust. I was going to say my other partner just paid for food and all my partner wanted to do is clean up before he ordered. I did not want to exert my energy on him and I won't go to a place where we are not welcome. Instead of saying something we just turned around and walked away. We went to our other partner who was eating his food at the table. We told him what happened and he stopped eating and threw the food away. We all walked out the restaurant. read more
