Anyone who gives this awesome Indian restaurant a poor rating must be doing something wrong. I challange you to come back, order the Lamb Vindaloo (or Curry if you don't like it hot) and an order of Garlic Naan. I love this place! My boyfriend and I order from here about once a week. We've never actually been to the restaurant, I always have it delivered and it's always been timely and delicious! I either get chicken masala or chicken vindaloo with garlic naan! Edit: changing from 4 stars to 5 because I still order it more than once a week and it's always so good!! A lot of people think you have to go to the burbs to get good indian food, but Roti Grill has always been consistently good food right in uptown for as long as I have lived here. The casual environment and quick service makes it a good spot for a weekday dinner. Tonight we got the chicken tikka masala and daal makani. The level of spiciness always varies, but tonight we got both dishes "hot" and it was a good amount of heat. The garlic naan was buttery and fresh, not too burned like some other places. Food was magnificent. Spice was excellent. I would give this five stars but the purchase process really made me angry. This is a counter order restaurant and food is delivered to your table. They have a tip jar to recommend tipping. And then the register forces you to either say "no tip" or select a tip starting at 15%. It is just not appropriate to force me to make that decision as I stare at the person at the register. I feel pressured and uncomfortable. What's worse is that the tip suggestions start at 15%. Let me start by saying that I REALLY want to love this place. I am a huge fan of Indian food, and I thoroughly enjoy very spicy food. I moved to the Uptown area a few years ago, and this was the first time I'd lived so close to a quick-serve Indian restaurant. I was stoked! I've tried a handful of things at this restaurant, and I'm not even going to get into the details of each meal. The bottom line with this restaurant is it COMPLETELY lacks consistency. I never know if my chicken vindaloo is going to be a bright orangey-red color or a dishwater brown. I never know if I'll need to watch out for whole peppercorns in my vindaloo or if someone will have already removed them. I never know if the naan will be fluffy and soft and the perfect blend of chewy goodness that I so crave... or if it'll be cold, and overly chewy and taste like it was made the day before. Ugh... it's so frustrating. When it wants to be good, Roti Grill can be SOO good; otherwise, it's just mediocrity at its best. Like many have said, the consistency can be a little iffy here. For example, I always order "extra hot" and sometimes that ends up being mild, and sometimes it ends up being so hot that flames come shooting out of my ears. Most of the time the naan is wonderful and fluffy, but a couple of times it has been tough like it's been sitting out too long. AND it's really expensive. That being said, everything I've eaten here has been delicious. I usually get the vegetarian platter. My favorites are the okra and the bengan, but I think they've recently taken both those off the menu :( For awhile I would just ask for the bengan even though it was no longer on the menu and they'd still be able to make it, but the last time I went they didn't have any at all. Maybe the okra and bengan will come back in the spring. Anything with saag is going to be good. They have saag chana on the menu, but I usually ask if I can have saag paneer and MOST of the time they will do it for me. If I feel like being even less healthy than normal I will get malai kofta and hot damn is it good. The desserts are fantastic as well. My favorite is the rasmalai. I'm not sure how to explain what it is, but it's delicious. My husband always gets tandoori chicken with masala sauce on the side. He thinks it's the best tandoori chicken in Dallas. read more

To echo another reviewer here, this place is "meh." I've eaten here at least four times and had always maintained that while they were stingy on the servings, the quality was decent. Well, those golden days are now over. There were some good items remaining on the menu like kofta curry the last time I had it, but by and large the food has little flavor. NB: spice does not equal flavor. The meal I had last night was bland but extremely spicy (I requested "medium hot"). The dish was mainly onions with some bell pepper and some tiny pieces of paneer, all drowned in a hot-but-flavorless sauce. My Indian dining companion ended up apologizing for it twice. Her dish was better, but it was not great either. Do yourself a favor. If you want Indian food, just drive several minutes to Irving, Richardson, or Plano. Prices are lower, and more important, food is massively better. Based on the portions and ingredients, this place honestly makes me think the owners are misers. I'd be curious to know if anyone else thinks it has that feel. read more

Only negative is that the food is a bit Americanized, so you don't get that real spicy Indian taste, but it's really good regardless. And I love Indian food, so this concept is great. Mediocre to below average at best. Vegetable curry tasted like a bowl of way over cooked vegetable mush swimming in grease. Little to no flavor. is it Authentic Indian food?? No. But then which place in DFW is really authentic and not Americanized :-) Roti grill offers a quick fix solution for Indian Curry dishes. You walk in, order at the counter, seat yourself at one of the tables or booths and before you know, your food is served.. Now, it might sound like an assembly unit, but then the food is actually Good and tasty. I would strongly recommend to get Egg Curry (a dish you usually don't see at other places). Add some garlic naan and a cup of chai, it will be a perfect end to your hunger. read more

The food here really is wonderful and authentic. However the staff is awful. It's like they'd rather be anywhere other than where they are. So rude, immature and careless. And this very may be the same individual I always speak to for take out orders which I will now never place again. Asked her a side of steamed or grilled veggies which she said said no to. Second, I will give them a star on behalf of the bf- ONLY because this place is so commercialized/bland/boring Indian food he actually enjoyed it. We tried this last place for the first time Saturday night. It was busy but we didn't have to wait terribly long for our food. We ordered lamb biryani, chili paneer with naan, a platter with lamb vindaloo, and a combo tandoori. We ordered the chili paneer at a spice level of 5 which was a mistake. It was too spicy to eat. The yellow rice was way too dry. The lamb kabob didn't taste good and was too dry as well. The chicken tandoori was delicious. The lamb biriyani was decent and the lamb vindaloo was good as well. This place is not authentic Indian food and the menu is very confusing. As an Indian, I felt like it was complicated to order what I wanted so people trying indian food for the first time may feel lost. Instead of having, for example, lamb vindaloo on the menu, first they make you choose two step, platter, etc. Then you choose your protein, bread, sauce and spice level... Basically they tried to hipsterize indian food and in the process complicated everything! read more
