I have loved Velvet Taco for a long time. As a vegetarian, it is hard to find good taco options. Velvet Taco has three great options and a bunch of side choices. I stopped in and was lucky enough to stumble upon a deal for 2 for $10 tacos. They also brought back their loaded tater tots, which were taken off the menu for a little bit. I was so excited to have them again. This is a popular spot, so sometimes it can get crowded and loud, but it is definitely worth sitting down in eating in person. It's best when it's hot! read more

These are not traditional tacos. Don't let that put you off, because that doesn't mean they aren't excellent tacos! I've been here multiple times and the quality of the ingredients is always on point. I have to admire an establishment that managed to make it through COVID at their original locations, and is still staying busy! Their packaging for their tacos is really something unique. I wish I had taken a picture of it. They have a molded plastic tray that will hold three tacos perfectly so that when you take it to go, your tacos don't get tossed around, and the ingredients from one mixed with another. Their white queso, elotes, and guacamole is excellent. The chips are nice and crunchy. Service was friendly, and the speed of getting my late-night order out was what keeps me coming back. read more

Love that you can refill your fountain drink (Coke products and sweet + unsweetened tea). Sauces are made in-house. Today, I was in the mood for tacos and I tried Velvet Taco in Uptown. It's a great location, near a bunch of shopping and bars. They also have a nice patio and lots of seating. Great service and I appreciated the presentation of the food and the cleanliness of the space. Chimichurri Steak - good flavor. I didn't like how big the chunks of steak were on this taco. They were cooked well, however there was imbalance between the meat and topping in each bite. FYI - it's spicy, about 3 out of 5 Buffalo Chicken - I didn't like this taco because of the flavor of the Buffalo sauce. Went here for an easy Thursday night dinner with my husband. It's a great spot to grab some quick tacos with made-from-scratch ingredients (which is hard to find). We were in town for the week and added the St Patrick's Day Parade to our itinerary. This place handled the crowds like a well-oiled machine! Everytime I visit Texas, I must make a stop at Velvet Taco. While they're not authentic tacos, the taco fusion somehow just works. The Chicken & Waffle is my favorite. I love the combination of the waffle taco, the chicken tender, and the maple syrup. It sound strange but it's a delicious amalgamation of a taco. The chicken tender is crispy even with takeout. It's a must in the menu for me. Another favorite of mines on the menu are any of the beef options. The Slow roasted angus brisket taco is delicious. The brisket is cooked just right where you are not chewing for five minutes on one piece of steak. Hands down one of my favorite chain restaurants. read more

This is the most amazing restaurant for fast food and tacos. Easy to get in and out quickly from their parking lot in case you want to order online and pick up. We always go in to eat. Nice, clean, and tacos are fabulous! The manager at this location is outstanding! I asked him one evening while we were there if he happened to have a little birthday candle. The next thing we saw was him running across the street to Walgreens to buy candles for us! Talk about service! He gives us free slices of cake occasionally because we go in once a week. Also, my favorite taco, the Cuban Pug, was taken off the menu for several months, but he continued to make it for me without the ham it needed. I was over the top when he said they could do that for me. That order had to be keyed in by each ingredient, which made it take longer for the staff. They cook all of the meats into the same fryer as the other ingredients..When I emailed about it they brushed it off and that they would look into it but disappointing to say the least. Last time not so much) Hamburger taco (always a banger) And velvet cake (wasn't as worth the hype as I've seen, but much better once I paired whatever drizzle that was, caramel?) Sat outside. Great taco shop! I've heard a lot about the place since there's a couple in Austin. I'd like to say it lived up to the hype for my first time. FOOD: My family and I ordered several different types of tacos. All of them were pretty good. My personal favorites were the tikka chicken, flank steak, and Cuban pig. The tikka tasted pretty legit, and had good enough spice. The flank steak was pretty juicy, and was overall great. Cuban pig also had a lot of juice. Only complaint was that the mustard was pretty heavy on this taco, with it being slightly overpowering on the nostrils when you eat it. We ordered takeout so there was no service. The tortillas do get a bit hard for delivery so keep that in mind. Would definitely love to eat at the restaurant itself one day! read more

I tried the Buffalo Chicken, Chicken and Waffle , and the Flank Steak Taco. The menu was easy to ready and understand and the order process was fast and friendly. The food was prepared fresh and very quickly. There is sitting inside and out. The beverage area and sitting areas are maintained cleaned. My only complaint was the indoor kitchen ventilation- it wasn't great. It was very smokey inside which made my eyes watery and uncomfortable.
