I've been for lunch twice now, and feel like I've gotten a good enough impression to be able to rate them. I have had a pita each time, and filled it with roti chicken once, salmon the other-both were delicious-not dry and warm as I would hope for them to be. Adding in the cold fixings next-hummus and the kale and chickpea salad-were just delightful, and adding to the deliciousness of my lunch sandwich! They keep Vernon Hills finest water on tap (so they have a sense of humor!), and have several teas brewed as well-and it does not break the bank, which I always appreciate from a quick meal spot. Food was okay and fast. Staff was friendly. However, my rice bowl with Roti chicken was very skimpy. Such small portions. And the chicken I did receive was over cooked. Burned. I don't need carcinogens with my lunch. This is the 2nd time I've been here, and this is the 2nd time it's happened -- small portions, burned chicken. I left hungry. I was craving something with a Mediterranean flavor profile, and I hadn't been to roti in years. The place was clean and everyone working had masks and gloves, a must nowadays. I took my time looking over the menu and decided on the "born and braised". I notice people mentioning the menu is smaller, and it did feel simplified, but ultimately most restaurants cut items recently so I wouldn't fault them for that. The woman working made sure I wanted everything that goes with my order, and confirmed with me that one of the sauces was spicy. She double checked the recipe booklet as she assembled my ingredients so she might be new, but I'd say she doing everything right. My "pita" (its roti, obviously) was fully loaded and held up to the all the ingredients. Sweetness and acid from the pickled onions plus the spicy green sauce (can't spell that one) are a tasty combo. The lamb was nice and tender. Very good, I'd eat it again for sure. Many tables are labeled as unavailable for use right now, and the ones that are open are properly spaced at a safe distance. Overall a solid experience and good food, I'll be back. read more

Upon entering we quickly rushed towards the menu, The menu looked promising we decided to order a falafel wrap & rice bowl. The server while adding stuff to our plate was spilling things over, the entire counter was all messed up and so were our plates. This is not something thats pleasing!!! Great quick, clean meal if you're on a diet or looking for a veggie/vegan option in the go. Ordered curbside and they came out to hand me my order within 5 min of me notifying them that I was there. We ordered CAULIFORNIA SUNSET, HIBISCUS LIMONATA, FIRE AND RICE, SALMON ON GREENS (The best tasting one honestly) all of which were delicious...Even the picky eaters had no complaints and their pita bread was extremely soft and fresh. Went to the Vernon Hills Roti on a weeknight. Website and door sign said they were open until 9pm. We arrived at 7:45pm and were told that they were only doing carry out orders since the dining room was closing soon at 8pm. I wanted to dine in and was essentially told I could eat inside if I could be done by 8pm. I told them I would rather eat somewhere else where I wouldn't be rushed. The guy said "ok." Used to be my favorite place to get a quick healthy bite. I used to visit 3 times a wee before the pandemic. When we started ordering takeout recently, there have been many unpleasant surprises: 1) prices are up 40% 2) chicken kebob made from white meat aka healthy- is not on the menu anymore 3) in the last 3 months, we have ordered takeout 8 times, 3 times they mussed to include pita or sauce with the order despite the order being correctly placed on their website 4) last month, their website allowed me to place an order at few minutes past 8 pm. I found the place was closed when I reached around 8:20. Got an email in the morning that my order was ready. I never picked up because the order was placed last night and not for this morning. I emailed them for a refund as their website instructed--four weeks later I am still waiting for a refund or even an acknowledgment of my email. Stay away! read more

I did not have a pleasant experience today with roti. I am a loyal customer. Normally I love going in for some "healthy nutritious" food. Friends and I are disappointed on the menu. Change roti keeps on taking and adding to many items to the menu, or taking some of the best selling popular items off of the menu, including couscous, the tomato cucumber salad, and changing recipes of many food items like the steak. Today when I went in, I immediately noticed that the food did not look very fresh, I decided to order my usual, and the woman behind the counter, filled my bowl up with rice, an unnecessary amount of it. When I asked for my chicken, she barely gave me any chicken, which I do not understand because I am paying for the food, I am driving 20 minutes to get food, and I barely get a half of a normal portion of it? I think that that is ridiculous I decided to ask for couscous, but surprisingly, they took it off their menu again unexpectedly without any notice. I also asked for tomatoes, and she gave me half a scoop. She gave me barely any hummus I had to ask for more and she offered me pita bread, which was cold and very dry. It had no taste to it and on top of that I had to pay $30 for barely any food that had no flavor or taste, which was a complete waste of my money and I could be spending it anywhere else I couldn't get a five dollar happy meal and I can get more filling food and more portions of food than what I can get at Roti for 30 bucks which is absolutely crazy so I think that this chain establishment should really really think their prices and their menus and they should stop changing their menus as me and peers discussed. Seriously, just pick any other of the fast casual or sit down dining restaurants and you will have a better experience than trying this one. Food- The food was marginal at best, the chicken was dry and the rice tasted just as bad. To be honest the best part of my meal were the pickles. Ambiance- The ambiance is a twist on Greece architecture with a modern flare. I personally much prefer the classic look of a family owned Greek restaurant. I got the street pita with chicken. My friend got the build a bowl with chicken. The portion for my pita was generous. It was packed with ingredients and was the size of a well filled burrito. After eating I was satisfied, but not overly full. To order you pick what you want: a bowl, salad or pita, then pick your protein, veggies, toppings and sauces. The price for a pita or bowl is between $10 to $13 for the most part before tax. This restaurant is currently charging a covid fee, but it is minimal. The store was very clean and tidy. The menu change is very disappointing. I used to get their Lafa Wrap with falafel (now gone) and it was nothing short of amazing. Everytime I go in here for a lunch, I'm always treated with kindness and respect and the food is always nice and fresh and tastes great.
