I'll always be down for grabbing a meal at BIBIBOP. The ingredients are always fresh and healthy (purple rice, fresh roasted veggies, kimchi to name a few) and the portions are always generous. Add a little miso on the side and we always leave fully but not feeling too heavy. All the proteins are a hit for a fast casual environment. Sometimes the sauces lean on the sweet side so we go light on them so the fresh flavors of the bowl ingredients shine through. I've been to BIBIBOP a few times and always love the different combinations of bowls I get. This time we went in a late dinner. The staff was super friendly and greeted us right away. I tried their Korean beef with half purple rice/ sweet potato noodles. That base combination is undefeated. I chose a few of their hot options, and among their cold options, I got carrots, corn, egg, cheese, cucumbers, cabbage. They have a nice size selection of what you can include in your bowl. For my sauce I got their yum yum sauce and gochujang sauce. We dined in, the establishment was clean. There is plenty of parking in the lot. I love that they offer free miso soup with your meal. Unfortunately, because we were in late, they didn't have anymore of the passionfruit lemonade, which is my go to. To end our dinner we had the snickerdoodle cookie and it was oh so tasty. I LOVE this place. I had completely forgotten about BiBiBop, even though it's right down the street from me, and I was craving gochujang and kimchi the other week, but was too lazy to cook. I've ordered to-go from here 4 times since that visit . The bowls are customizable, and although there aren't a TON of topping options, there are plenty of choices to give you a wide variety of bowl combos, especially with the sauce options. My favorite sauce combo is the gochujang and sesame ginger. Avocado costs extra, but honestly, where is it not? And a bowl big enough for two, will run you around $12-15. Mondays are meatless Mondays, and tofu and veggie bowls are 20% off. I'm always down to support any company that promotes veggie options! read more

There's a lot to choose from. My wife and I decided to share a bowl, as the bowls looked big. Glad we did, because each bowl would have been way too much for one of us. Service was quick and friendly. We started with half lemon rice and half sweet potato noodles as the base. We added brussels sprouts, broccoli, carrots, corn, avocado, pickled onions, and salmon for our protein. They offer a variety of sauces, but we decided to go without any sauce and we're glad we did. The bowl tasted delicious just as it was, without any sauce. Just be prepared for a little sticker shock if you go here, as our single bowl lunch cost about $20 (with a bottled water). read more

It's one of our go-to spots for a quick and healthy meal, and we appreciate what this place offers. However, I'm giving this visit a 3-star rating because I noticed a few breakdowns worth sharing--not to bash the place, but to offer some honest feedback with grace. Everyone on staff was kind and courteous, which I appreciated. That said, it was clear that a few employees were new. And that's perfectly fine--everyone has to start somewhere. But when we sat down to eat, the meat in our bowls was noticeably cold, like the heaters under the pans hadn't been turned on. That's more of a training or systems issue than an individual mistake. Unfortunately, I felt a bit sick afterward. And while that could be coincidence, it made the experience disappointing this time around. I want to be clear--this isn't a reflection of how things usually go here. We really like this place and hope the management can use this feedback to tighten up the training and food safety process. BIBIBOP Asian Grill offers "Fully customizable bowls with your choice of proteins, bases, toppings, and sauces". I would say that these "Bowls" are not exactly Bibimbap, but they are similar enough to it, having mostly a Korean flavor profile, that if you are craving a super-healthy version of Korean food, this will certainly satisfy. All of the BIBIBOP Asian Grill restaurants are very clean and new. It feels like a Korean version of a Subway chain, only as high end a Subway store as one can find anywhere. And the service good, professional, and helpful. I had the closest to a standard marinated bulgogi-beef Bibimbap as I could construct at the ingredients bar. And it was tasty. They have a variety of options including tofu, kimchi, noodles, etc. the sauce comes on the side which is was nice as my husband and I combined our sauces. You choose your proteins, bases, toppings and sauces or go with the Chef Curated Bowls. There are three sizes--original, small or the new size--Bibicup, which is a lighter portion with 1 base, 1 protein, 4 toppings and one sauce. This is set up like Chipotle-- you place your order at the counter and pick your ingredients while they assemble your bowl. I went with the Bibicup, filling it with greens, sesame broccoli and topped with Korean BBQ beef. I thought the size was more than enough, it was overflowing and it certainly conquered my hunger. The ingredients were crispy and fresh and the sesame ginger sauce was nutty and savory. The beef was tender and nicely seasoned. My friend chose a small bowl and added sweet potato noodles and organic tofu. They were really impressed and compared it to a restaurant in DC they frequented, Seoul Spice. The size was really satisfying and they took the leftovers home. I really liked the variety of healthy options, such as different sizes, healthy assortment of fresh prepared veggies, the option to add different sauces and especially since calorie counts were provided. The dining area was clean and well spaced. Flowers on the tables were a nice touch. Bathrooms were clean and the staff was efficient and friendly. A great place for a tasty, quick Asian bowl. I chose the cauliflower rice as my base (yum!), one of five choices, as did my husband. There was a small up-charge for this, but it was well worth it. I had the chicken as my protein, and he had the spicy chicken. Mine was very good, and he liked his, too. The toppings are added similar to a Chipotle or Subway, where you go along the line and tell them what you want. There are several choices of hot toppings (e.g. potatoes, broccoli, bean sprouts), and several choices of cold toppings (e.g. cheese, corn, cucumber). I thought it was interesting that bean sprouts were a hot topping, and corn was a cold topping. I would have expected the opposite, but they were both good. At the end, you choose up to two different sauces. I tried the ginger teriyaki and the sesame ginger, and the combination of the two was flavorful without being overpowering. Parking outside is ample and easy, the restaurant was spotless, and the staff was very friendly. We're looking forward to going back and trying it again, and are hoping one will open even closer to our home before very long. read more

Then I add loads of veggies from their variety of offerings, eggs, choice of protein (usually spicy chicken and/ or steak) and choice of sauces. Voila - there you have a hearty bowl of delicious goodness. Yum! They also offer miso soup, couple of items for dessert (coconut pudding, etc.) and refreshing drinks variety that includes three different lemonade types and there types of cold teas. I'm in trouble -- this delicious restaurant just opened right down the street from my office! I'd been to the Schaumburg location previously, but Jan. 23 was my first visit to Vernon Hills. The manager, Jin, patiently answered all of my questions and made suggestions as I chose my ingredients. I ended up with a giant bowl packed with veggies, protein and flavor. From my mixture of sweet potato noodles and purple rice for the base, to the diced potatoes, corn, carrots, kale, pineapple and other produce, and a heap of spicy chicken on top, this was the best lunch I've had in awhile! I have eaten at Bibibop in Cleveland a few times and have always enjoyed the fresh Asian food. So I was naturally pretty excited to hear one was opening near me in Vernon Hills just west of Uncle Julio's near Hawthorn Mall. I stopped by for lunch today and was not disappointed. The staff was friendly and there were so many great toppings to add to the bowl. I think I added every topping except for the pineapple which costs more. Such a hearty healthy bowl of happiness. The bowl costs $10.99 and it came with free miso soup which was great on a cold 22 degree day. They are offering $5 off if you install the Bibibop app and join their rewards program. I installed the app afterwards and it shows the $5 reward which I will use on my next visit. I should note that the reward does expire in 6 days. read more

The space is clean, bright, and comfortable, with lots of wood and glass. On my first visit, I ordered the Korean Beef & Noodle Bowl. It was excellent! For my second visit, I decided to build my own bowl. I started with purple rice, then added a bunch of veggies. For my protein I added chicken. Lastly, for my sauce I chose Gochujang Sauce. It turned out delicious, but however you build your bowl, I don't think you can go wrong. Service was friendly and swift. Prices are very reasonable. I like the concept, an Asian inspired eatery that somewhat resembles a cross between bibimbop and chipotle restaurant. The ingredients seem to be all fresh and made in house (and not out of a food prep bag like some other eateries). The staff was friendly and was patient with me as I've never had bibi bop before. I wanted to absolutely try every ingredient and they basically let me... - cool I thought. The neat thing was that they had purple rice and what looked like chapchae. The meats were seasoned steak (which is similar to bulgogi, but not quite). Anytime you have many colors in my bowl, it is a big win for my health I thought. After the main ingredients the difficult choice of sauce. How do I know what to have when I've never been there before, well - the answer...yum yum sauce. It's double yum so I gotta get it right? After trying it, I definitely think it needed it. It added a layer of acid and richness that was lacking otherwise (when you have a healthy bowl of colours, I don't expect much in flavor on it's own). I think most Korean dishes have a distinct toasted sesame oil flavor, and I know folks have allergies so I thought they omitted that from many of the items. Then I saw that another diner had sesame seeds on their bulgogi. They did have it, oh by then, I ate everything already so no point in trying to top off my dish with the look of sesame seeds. I would rate this place zero stars if I could. I placed an order last night and the entire order was a paltry mess. An upstanding restaurant staff would simply cancel an order if they did not have the ingredients to complete an order, especially considering the high prices these days. And the staff at this Bibibop location has proven themselves to be anything but honest and upstanding. Instead of chicken, which I paid for, the staff thought they'd be slick and only put a few pieces of chicken on top of the Bibicup and then fill the rest of it with old, partially burnt potatoes as a substitute, which I did not request at all and could not eat, and two of the other ingredients were missing. The rest of the more than $30 order was just as pathetic and disappointing: There was only a sliver of flavorless old salmon in the Nourish Bowl and several other missing ingredients (four to be exact) that were replaced w/ an abundance of plain kale and some old broccoli. To top it off, you can't even reach a human on the phone to voice displeasure with an order. They apparently don't answer the phone, hence this one-star Yelp rating as a means to report their terrible service. Had they answered the phone, I would not have had to resort to Yelp to make my experience known and warn others about ordering Bibibop for delivery. This was my first Bibibop experience, and it will be my last because my first impression is a terrible one. They would've been better off just shutting it down for the night and refunding the order instead of engaging in dishonest, unsavory business practices. read more

I got the regular bowl, it was allot of food, I think next time I'll size down. The bowl was yummy, reminded me of chipotle, you make your own bowl. I got all the additives, just to try. I really like the yum yum sauce. The noodles are my favorite. They also give you complimentary miso soup if you dine in. This time I tried the new Korean beef topping and that was very tasty. Probably their best protein choice. Quantity sort of varied depending on who was helping you through the line, but you can always ask for more of something. The original is quite large, it could definitely feed 1 adult and 1 child if not 2 and probably even 2 adults. Overall a good place to grab a quick bite. I am so excited to have found Bibibop! My boyfriend and I came tonight for dinner and we are so excited. We walked in and the restaurant is so bright, clean, and welcoming! When I went up to order everyone behind the counter was so friendly. They explained all of the options I had for each step. For my base I chose the purple rice and the Japchae! Then I added the broccoli, potatoes, black beans, & bean sprouts. (The broccoli is insanely delicious! Next time I could easily skip the other 3 options and just get more broccoli!) I then chose some of the really fresh toppings. The kimchi was delicious too! I chose steak (the spicy chicken & tofu are also really good). For sauce I chose teriyaki and sesame ginger. When we sat down to eat we were so quiet because it was so delicious! The owner even came by to check in and see how everything was which was so nice! We will definitely be coming back! I just think it says a lot when the manager is willing to help their employees in any/all aspect that needs help, even if it means doing direct customer care. The manager even checked the food before filling my bowl, and he removed excess water in the beans, before he served it. Jin was very nice, and told me if I ever want to deliver, I should use their website to avoid surcharges. When I asked for miso, he said, it's free, so I can have as much as I want with a genuine smile. Overall, nice service. The food, equally good. I am familiar with Bibibop as I have gone there when traveling to Ohio, so I was very excited to see one come to Vernon Hills. This is by far the nicest Bibibop I have visited. Cleanliness is an apparent top priority here. You can see it at the food counter and the drink counter, not to mention the individual spoon and fork dispensers so you don't have to touch any extra utensils. The food was delicious and healthy! I created a combo base of superfood salad with the new cauliflower rice, but you can also just pick one base. There were so many healthy and delicious options to add as well as a protein and sauce at the end. All throughout the process, the manager and staff asked me if I wanted an extra serving of any of the foods. They offered this to everyone! There is also a miso soup station right in between the online order shelf and drink area where you can get a complimentary cup of miso soup. You pour it for yourself. It was a delicious treat to go along with my meal. When there was a lull at the counter, the manager visited the tables and asked how our experience was and food tasted. All staff I interacted with were also positive. Overall, I'm incredibly impressed with the food, service, and cleanliness. With a very Korean-influenced Asian fusion menu, the dish options are all gluten-free, wholesome, and (most importantly) delicious! As soon as I saw that this place existed, I excitedly messaged my wife (we enjoy good fast-casual and LOVE Korean food). Customizable toppings for your bowl include pickled red cabbage, cucumbers, kimchi, and much more. Dishes have vibrant color, contrasts in texture, and delicious flavor. The restaurant dining area is minimalist and well-lit, making it ideal for shooting lovely food photography. One area where they can improve is to either add a customer wifi network, or to install cellular signal boosters. That area is a dead zone, so you cannot even check in on Yelp, post photos, or download their app until after you have left (you cannot even get out a simple text message). Aside from the technology issue, I highly recommend trying out Bibibop. read more
