This was our first visit to the Lincolnshire Naf Naf Grill. Naf Naf, if you haven't been to one, is a fast food Mediterranean restaurant. They serve wraps in pita, bowls, and plates. We've been to others and they are usually good. Their restaurants are pretty consistent with their food. Shawarma, Steak, and Falafel. There were two of us, and we both ordered bowls. I had the chicken shawarma and my partner had falafel. You select the base (rice, salad, etc.), and the toppings and sauces. It tasted like bowls I've had at other Naf Naf locations. The service was good, but the restaurant didn't appear clean. Oh, the tables were wiped down and looked okay. There is a door open to their kitchen. While you can't see them cooking, there are storage shelves that were unsightly - they were messy and didn't look clean. If it were mine, I would put a door in front of the storage. While we did enjoy the food - and the portions are huge - the line of sight to the storage made us wonder about the cleanliness of the food. But, I'm hope it was just in our minds. read more

I was craving Naf Naf and luckily there's a location near work. I got a falafel bowl and my sister got a chicken shawarma bowl. The food hit the spot. I regret not getting garlic sauce! Service was fast and the restaurant was clean. It was a late afternoon so there weren't other diners but a few takeout orders. I used to be a great fan of this place. My most recent visit was my last unfortunately. The quality of the food has steadily been going down and this last time was absolutely awful. The rice was overcooked, the meat was over flavored to the point all you tasted was salt. And the garlic sauce (Which was my absolute favorite!) was not something I would even call garlic sauce.. This was our first visit to this particular Naf Naf and it was for a Sunday lunch. They have a nice, spacious, airy, and comfortable corner location in the modern Lincolnshire Commons strip mall. Our party of 5 ordered a couple of kids' meals (one with falafel and one with crispy chicken and each at $6.35), a bowl with grilled steak ($12.35), a plate with chicken shawarma ($12.95), and a chicken shawarma pita ($9.15). It was a good economical meal, but the pita breads were disappointing in that were cold and dryish, and not Naf Naf's usual fresh, moist, and hot. We've historically relied on Naf Naf to have the very best pita bread amongst all the Mediterranean chains, but it looks like the lack of traffic here must be a factor on the pita bread not being tip-top good and fresh. I had always wanted to try Naf Naf, and I finally was able to make it out to this location the other day for lunch. The food was great! I got half chicken and half steak. We went to the downtown location of Naf Naf for a quick lunch and were pleasantly surprised. The portions are fair, as are the prices for fresh ingredients. I appreciate that it is fast food, but doesn't feel like fast food (read: heavy, fried, starchy). The hubs and I shared a pick 2 plate with Chicken Shawarma and falafel. We loved the pickled red cabbage (so good!), the fresh salad, and flavorful rice. Both the falafel and chicken were good as well. It actually reminded me of the late night shawarma and chip places in Europe, with flavors that blended well and were a perfect topping to their super airy and light pita! And the garlic sauce - mannnnnn!! It has a rich sour cream tasting base, and is creamy and delicious with all the food. We also shared a steak shawarma bowl. Next time we'll skip the steak. The flavors tasted more Latin than middle eastern, which was a turn off, cuz it didn't really mesh well with the other food. Mediterranean Food has always been my jam. I've tried dozens of Med-Food spots throughout the years - in both the Chicago Burbs and City - and unfortunately, Naf Naf's food ranks in the bottom 10% or so. We ordered Naf Naf as a family about 6 months ago - and weren't all that impressed. Tonight, we decided to give it another try... I got the Chicken Kebab plate with Falafel on the side. The chicken was not only extremely over cooked, but way over-seasoned. The falafel was hard - and felt like it was made earlier in the week...and did not reheat well. Even the rice left something to be desired. The two best things we got tonight were the garlic sauce (B+) and the Pita Bread (nice and soft). Everything else (as in...the real food items) was subpar at best. The service here is fine. The staff seems friendly and appear to care about the customer experience. But, the ownership group needs to seriously consider changing their food vendor. My recommendation - try Pita Pita, Pita Inn, Falafel & Grill (Wicker Park), or literally any other Mediterranean spot...because this one ain't it. Sorry, Naf Naf. read more

Naf Naf Grill in Lincolnshire is in a nice safe strip mall. It offers ample parking directly on the side of the building. It also has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating with a fair amount of space between tables. This was my first time trying Naf Naf. The food was fresh but they were too miserly on sauces and only give you 1 of the 4 different sauces they offer. If you want more or to try another flavor than just that 1 little tiny container they tell you it's an extra cost! It was only after requesting to try another different sauce 2 times that they let us have 1 other with our full "pick 2 plate"orders. The purple cabbage salad option was way overly salted and after 2 bites I couldn't eat anymore. I would suggest that whoever is making these items to taste it first before rendering it ready to go for the days lunch crowd. The cucumber tomato salad on the pick 2 plate was a good accompaniment with the meats. I selected chicken sharwma and steak. Both meats were just ok (no taste) but decently proportioned. The rice was ok but lacked any real flavor. The large hummus was good however there was no olive oil, sumac, smoked paprika or any garnish on the top of it. Although it tasted very good, the picture on the order board wall shows olive oil and sprinkling of spice. We also ordered a large baba ganoush which had a nice creamy flavor with a smoky hint. Pitas were freshly made, fluffy and tasty. The falafels were excellent too; light, fluffy and great flavor with the tahini dip that was with my plate. Portions were very good. Staff was friendly but could have not been so strict and stingy about only allowing 1 little tiny sauce with the plate and everything else I ordered coming to a $30 lunch bill! The place was very clean as was the prep areas. I recommend the falafels and I would probably only order the sandwich not the plate for lunch if I ventured here again. I just called the restaurant to address the most recent online order issue and got the following response from the shift manager: "F**K OFF!". They make pita bread on site and you go through the order line and order your meal as they make it with options like rice bowls, pita sandwiches and combo plates. Yet another change in management since opening years ago, each one worse than the last. How I wish for the original crew! Went there today for my birthday meal (checked my Naf Naf app, tonight was my 15th visit this year, so almost twice a month) and it started off in the wrong foot and only got worse. They messed up my daughter's order, skimped on the goodies even though they were already closing down and gonna throw everything out. Then on my meal the women preparing it questioned or changed my order every step of the way. I asked for a soup with a scoop of green sauce in it (delicious if you haven't tried it!) and she nonchalantly TOLD me "no....I'll just put it on the side." When I have a confused look and asked again if it could be put IN the soup, she again refused and smiled and again told me how the soup was going to be. I asked to pay for a larger side of garlic sauce and she just gave me a little to-go side, and when I insisted on paying more to get the larger container, she acted like she was doing me a favor and added one more tiny garlic. Just a very confusion experience, I thought I was on a hidden camera tv show or something. Anyway, I still love Naf Naf, but I'll be driving 36 minutes extra just to avoid this location. A friend brought us to Naf Naf for lunch one day and I fell in love it ever since and has been coming back to Naf Naf whenever I get the chance! Naf Naf is the location to get quality Mediterranean food. Their pitas are freshly oven baked each day at the restaurant rather than sent from a factory. This makes the pita super fresh, fluffy and simply sensational with their shawarma. Their falafels are sensational too, fresh, juicy and tasty! Also their hummus... everything is fresh and yummy here!! My personal favorite is the chicken shawarma in pita. This time, however, I've tried it in a rice and hummus bowl, I must say there are equally great! The difference between the bowls are the rice/salad or hummus; so you choose what base you want your chicken shawarma with. Unfortunately they do not mix these options as they are at different prices. The chicken shawarma with rice won my heart, maybe coz I am Asian and is an rice addict, so what!? The rice is a flavored rice, comparable to the Indian rice, if you know what I mean. So with the pita and the chicken shawarma, it is filling and satisfies the taste buds superbly! If you choose the meal, choose their fries too. They are thinly cut potatoes in a round shape and deep fried. Pretty similar to all the other Naf Naf locations except that I think the portion size of meat is a bit better than other locations. Otherwise, the best part of the meal is the warm, fresh pita and crispy naf fries. The meat is done alright, not overcooked but sliced a bit too thin and not too flavorful. The basmati rice, cous cous, and hummus don't overpower the meat but are a bit too light for me (which makes the sauce almost necessary). read more
