This guy (Nate) from Roto-Rooter rocked and was very polite! Came out on a Sunday to help my buddy fix his clogged drain pipe. He was also prompt to notify of his arrival eta the day it was scheduled. He worked on the line non-stop for hours and the clog finally broke free! THANK YOU! He also had a plan B in the works if this snake attempt failed. Although it wasn't my house, I thought Nate did a great job! And from what I understand, if it gets clogged again within 3 months of service, the guys will come back out and re-do for free! I thought that was comforting to hear and a great guarantee! Very unresponsive to customer requests and preventiveness. Called to have a leaking toilet valve repaired and wanted changed. Have 2 toilets so ask to have the 2nd one changed as well. Neither was done, said they were fine, but had a puddle of water on floor, and still is leaking. I wouldn't recommend them. Now I will have to change the valves myself! These valves go bad after time and the leak. read more

I have tried everything to unclog this sink since moving into the house a month ago and after using the dishwasher last night and having 8 inches of water in the sink that took 3 hours to drain I had had enough. I left a message on the machine at 730 on a Sunday night and got a call back 12 hours later asking if I wanted someone out between 8 and 10am that day, yes please! The gentleman (Corey?) was there at 8:03am and an hour later had snacked my drain 45ft to find and break up the clog. He was friendly, efficient, and is currently my hero. This was my experience...I live in a condo and have owned it for about 2yrs. I contacted Roto-Rooter to diagnose why there was a change in the shower's water pressure (pressure was harder) and the hot water wasn't lasting like it did. The plumber came to diagnose the problem. 1st visit was a free estimate. Plumber stated his guess was that the water heater needed replaced. He said I had two options. Replace the water heater or replace the coils and thermostat (which was basically creating a new water heater with the same shell). I chose to replace the coils and thermostat due to the design of the condo isn't great and my water heater is located in my kitchen under my countertop in the corner. In order to replace the water heater itself I would need to take up the countertop to pull the water heater out. So for cost and convenience I chose to replace the coils and thermostat. I scheduled the appointment with Roto-Rooter for the work to be done. Second time the plumber came out he replaced 2 coils and the thermostat. In doing this he needed to cut into my cabinet to access the water heater (which I did give consent to). However, he cut through the cabinet into my water heater. He did not tell me at that time he damage the water heater, I found the damage after the plumber left, when I was putting away the contents of the cabinet. When I found the damage of the cut I called the company to file a complaint. They scheduled for their manager to come out and look at the damage. When the manager came out he stated we needed to add a tank to help with the pressure because the spout on the water heater was leaking (this was the 3rd visit). As far as I know there wasn't any problems with the spout leaking prior to Roto-Rooter working on the water heater. We didn't have any water damage prior to calling Roto-Rooter that would suggest we had a leak. The manager also suggested we place a pie dish under the spout where it was leaking from to collect the water until they could come back to add the new tank. The manager also assured my husband that if any damage is done because of the cut the plumber made Roto- Rooter would cover the charge up to 2 years. Side note: Roto-Rooter did provide us with a letter stating this, thank you Roto-Rooter. On the 4th visit the manager came out and placed the new tank. During this visit he recommended we continue to monitor for leaks, and if it continues to leak we would need a new spout. So....we kept the pie dish under the spout so we could monitor if it continued to leak....which it did. The pie dish needed emptied once a day and sometimes twice if I did laundry. We called and scheduled another visit for them to replace the spout. The 4th visit was canceled by Roto Rooter due to whoever they were going to send out unfortunately was out on Workman's comp (do hope the guy is okay). Scheduled the 5th visit and they sent the original plumber and either a trainee, or a second witness due to we had so many issues. The plumber completed the job of replacing the spout, however, he replaced it today and we shall see if it is actually fixed, so far though no water. He did not bill me this last time (as the other two times they took payment at time of service) and I am unsure if the spout and labor is on the house or if I will received a bill in the mail later. What I do know is 1) The original problem with the water pressure being harder and the hot water not lasting is no better and no worse. I now have a water heater with a cut in it, 2 new coils, a new thermostat, another tank under my sink which was $248.50 (we received a 25% off discount on the new tank because of the cut the plumber made in the water heater), and now a new spout. So if any one knows a plumber I still need one because the water pressure in my shower is harder and the hot water isn't lasting but 10 mins (I timed it). read more

Well where to start? They did not show up with a mask, not a huge concern however that is important to a lot of people. I did not have any water in my bathtub/shower 2 months after they fixed it originally. So I called them back and the guy had a Attitude rite from the beginning. Apparently they work on commission and I thought my problem was under warranty (since it had only been 2 months) . Well long story short I said I need water to my bathtub. He said well that will be 800.00 , and we don't have the parts so I would have to pay xtra because after hrs so it would be 1500. 00. Joke I got it fixed for 100dollars in a Saturday. Dissatisfied. I manage a local motel and we recently suffered a water leak in one of our buildings. We were able to locate the shut off and prevented any further water damage. We called Roto Rooter to fix problem. Man named Brian came out and assessed the situation. Him and our on site maintenance employee looked into the problem. Brian said it was a 6 to 7 Hour job and would have to schedule for another day. Basically he did not want to do the job. He charged us 85 dollars for nothing. I called another plumber who came out within an hour and had problem fixed in less than 3 hours. There are better options out there. read more

I scheduled an online appointment with these guys to unclog a basement floor drain after another local plumbing company suggested I do so. (Apparently, they felt Roto Rooter was the best bet when dealing with a floor drain in the cellar, where it could possibly be cracked, etc.) I received a brief email confirmation early in the morning of the scheduled appointment, which was fine -- but they only allowed scheduling between 8-Noon, or Noon-4PM as options. I got a call around 2PM telling me the plumber was still working on his first job and they didn't know how late he'd be. (So basically, asking if I wanted to reschedule or just wait around for him.) I opted to wait (was going to be home all evening anyway). Glad I did because he showed up a couple hours after that. He was a nice guy and seemed to be knowledgeable. Had him fix a quick issue with a basement toilet leaking by its shut-off valve, and then he worked on the floor drain. That one took a little while. Apparently was clogged about 35 feet down the sewer line. He also promised to come back by and drop off a better drain cover for me. So why only a 3 star review? Primarily the cost. I wasn't informed until he was all finished with the job that they give about a $20 discount for cash payments and $10 off for writing a check vs. paying with a credit card. If I knew that in advance, I might have tried to take cash out of my bank for it. But the job was over $230. I was honestly expecting more like half that price. (To be fair, I haven't called a Rescue Rooter or Roto Rooter type company to clear a drain in years. But last time I used them at my old house, my bill was $85 to maybe $105 or so. So this is 2x to 3x those prices.) Considering I work in computers and I.T., and my customers moan and complain about me charging $75-125 to spend a couple hours at their home removing spyware and viruses? I think I'm in the wrong industry! read more

I had a mystery leak in my sewer line and they sent Chris to check it out. As he did he explained everything he was doing and how the things worked. He was expert in his knowledge, professional in his delivery, and pleasant in his manner. And he didn't charge me for the consultation. Turns out, there was nothing wrong that I didn't already take care of! Since there was nothing to repair/replace, I gave 5 stars on the strength of his customer service. Zach Sword in Hagerstown is THE man! We had a blocked septic system and my husband called and they came the same day. He worked on breaking the clog but was unable to. He did help my husband find someone to come out and replace the line since he knew we were going on vacation soon and they were unable to fit us in for that project before we left. However, he called my husband the next morning asking if he could come back out and try again at no charge unless he got it. He came back with some help and was able to clear the clog saving me $8000 and our badly needed vacation! We are going to replace the line soon and Zach will be getting my business for life! read more
