Route 22 is a Restaurant/Bar localed in the Anaheim Suites Hotel. I haven't tried their any of their food, I tried drinks from their bar once during my recent stay. Not having looked at the menu, I asked for an Old Fashioned (whiskey cocktail) and the bartender asked what type of whiskey I'd like to use and I chose Bulleit Bourbon, and they made it really well, sweet but not too sweet. I liked it so much I ordered two of them. I don't expect a lot out of hotel bars, but this place did a good job. My only criticism is that they close at 11pm, even on Fridays and Saturdays, but overall it was a good bar/Old Fashioned experience. read more

I rely heavily on Yelp restaurant ratings when selecting where to eat and sometimes the total score does not align with current reality. This is a prime example of a restaurant that has an unfair rating based on historic and unrelated information. We stayed at the Marriott and almost did not eat here because they only get a 3.1. As I dove deeper into the reviews, I realized that most of the low scores were from five years ago. Any recent low scores below 5 stars were submitted by patrons who did not even eat at the restaurant. Our waiter was named Standel who was on top of our needs, regularly bring out fresh waters. I got a big glass of a more than decent Sauvignon blanc for just $9. Salmon was cooked perfectly, mashed potatoes were great and they served with asparagus, broccolini and carrots, all were fantastic and the plate was priced very reasonably, especially for Anaheim. Do yourself a favor, ignore the total rating and give this place a shot! We were also seated off behind the bar in a quiet area where we could work. read more

A small little area within the Marriott Suites about a mile from Disneyland and just steps from our Hilton Homewood Suites. We stepped into the bar area right after noon on a weekday. It was pretty much empty in there which may be how it goes on a weekday in February. I had a burger and some iced tea and the YS had a beer and a sandwich from the menu. The vibe was chill and low key. The service was good. The only thing was weird when I asked for the check he nodded in the affirmative and then went across the room to clean a table. I thought it was odd but then he didn't come right back so I followed him over there to ask again he said OK and got the check. Maybe a misunderstanding but I was ready to depart thus the prompt follow up by me. It would be nice if they had the machines in the US like they do in Canada then when you're ready to go you can pay and leave rather than be dependent on the staff but I digress. My review is specifically regarding the recurring bar service that my wife and I received. The hotel itself and the paid breakfast do not compare. However, there is a hidden gem in this place and I hope they value him well. Standel was our bartender and has proven to be a master mixologist! Just listen to the Man please. Moreover, his personality and service are superior. We enjoyed the best cocktails we've ever had from Standel at Route 22. If you are in a hurry, try to slow yourself down before entering. Exceptional cocktails take time. Standel has an artistic style of muddling fresh fruits and veggies and a creative twist on mixes that will enhance your senses, satisfy your pellet and elevate your mind. His Blackberry Bramble is phenomenal and the light smoke of the mezcal hits the spot. Again, just listen to the Man! The Green Leaves of Summer is another treasure. The Angus Beef Sliders are perfection and will pair with any drink and the kettle chips with hot sauce (as recommended) are FIRE. I really dislike giving such a low rating. I felt the food was very good. But the rating is mostly based on the overall service we had. I will first say the waitress and I think he was the bartender were nice. But the service was very very slow. It took 10 minutes for some to acknowledge us at the door, around another 10 minutes to sit us and 47 minutes to take our order. One note the place for what I could see was empty, I didn't see the other side of the restaurant. Also the waitress did not seem very knowledgeable about the menu we asked about the soup because I have algeries and should could not answer the question and seemed reluctant to go ask the chef. Like I said I felt the food was good. It looked good on the plate, it was a good portion and tasted good. Coming here a second time was a different experience, due to the different selection on the meals that were served. I did enjoy both visits I had especially with the on point service I had from Mario being young as I am only 20, at time serves don't tend to check up on how I'm doing but Mario, he made sure my glass was always full when needed and made sure that my visit was welcoming. In an attempt to try something new AND nice, I bought a Groupon for Basil Restaurant and Grill in the Marriott Anaheim on Harbor Blvd just South of Disneyland. I don't think I'll go back alone. It has 3 stars on Yelp and I'd agree with that. OK but not great. I ordered a bowl of Seafood Chowder and Cali Cheese Steak Panini. The $7 chowder was ok but I was really hoping for better, being in a Marriott. The sandwich was a real mixed bag. Soft Pita bread with sliced beef (medium), sliced bell peppers, onions and Provolone. I chose the seasonal fruit instead of fries which was good since the sandwich was rather filling. Also a nice stack of pickle slices on the plate. Some of the meat was delicious and tender while a good portion of it was very chewy. But at least there was plenty. A pretty good value for I think $15 or $16. The pita wasn't hrilled long enough to stand up to the juiciness of the sandwich and I'm not big on soggy sandwiches. The juice of the sandwich along with the juice from the pickles pooled on the plate and the sandwich soaked in it until I got it. The staff was friendly and helpful but I went at 4pm before the full staff was on duty so a little slow at times but nothing major. Came here after check in to get a quick bite to eat before the concert. It's located directly across from the check in desk. It appears small from the doorway but when you walk in there are plenty of seats on both sides and it has a full bar. The menu has a little bit of everything so you have options. Our waitress was extremely nice and took rest care of us I didn't get her name but she was awesome. The food cane out in a decent time hot and fresh I had wings and a personal size pizza both were delicious. My friend got nachos and they were pretty good as well. There are plenty of TVs so you won't miss the game it's a convenient and cool restaurant if you're on the hotel. read more

Like another complaint here we were sat in the lounge area for a RESERVATION for CHRISTMAS dinner and not the dining area. Our reservation was at 5PM, we arrived early but we were not even acknowledged or sat until 10 minutes after 5 (normally not a big deal but the door said they opened at 5 so I'm not sure why they weren't ready when they were supposed to open) From where we were seated I could clearly see the front door this seemed to be the pattern! There wasn't anyone else in the restaurant when we arrived and it didn't seem to be busy but they were extremely slow in service. Our order wasn't taken until 45 mins after we were sat, didn't get any drinks until after being seated for 20 minutes. Asked for ingredients in the Seafood chowder because someone has a shellfish allergy and we were told "the soup is already prepared and the guys in the back said to say it's a mix of seafood?!" So I said so like what "octopus" she said yeah. So I asked her to go in the back and ask what kind of seafood due to the allergy. They said clams & lobster. Got the soup and there was definitely more than clams & lobster The food was mediocre but would not return. As more parties started to arrive they were told to wait in the lounge area so we had large parties with loud children running around our table during dinner. Their parents kept shushing to try to not bother the people dining but ultimately that just added to the noise and disturbance. This restaurant is located inside the Anaheim Mariott Suites (which yes, is located in the city of Garden Grove and not Anaheim). Also, this place used to be known as SunSpot, but now it's known as Basil's. I have no idea if the decor is new or not because neither my husband or myself had ever dined here in the past. We came here for dinner last week because we had a Groupon, and we enjoy trying out places we've never dined at in the past. At first glance, the restaurant looked very large and accommodated. When you enter Basil's there's a bar at the front with seating and dining area off to the right with TV's that seems to be a continuation of the bar/lounge. The "dining" room, meaning the place where people would expect to be seated to enjoy a nice quiet dinner is off to the left of the bar. Upon our arrival, we asked to be seated at a table for two. The bartender says to "pick anywhere" and points at the lounge area with the tvs. I explained that we were there to have dinner (it was about 8 pm). He tells us the other area isn't open right now. So, I asked when it would be open for dinner. He looked at me and stated it wouldn't be open until breakfast. I stood there aghast. We wanted dinner, not a bar & grill experience. Finally, he says we can sit over in the other "closed" area, but it would be a while before the server would be with us. I said that would be no problem (we weren't in a hurry). We sat for about 5 minutes and then I got up and grabbed a couple of what I thought were menus from the bar. It turned out they were the drink menus and not food menus. I waited another few minutes and got up again to go to the bar to ask for a couple of dinner menus. A Latina woman was behind the bar. I asked, "Could I please get a couple of dinner menus"? She responds, "It's going to be a while before I can get to you. You're sitting in an area that's closed, and since you insisted on sitting there, it's going to be while." Well, gee, thank you for rubbing my nose in my choice like a dog's nose in his poop!! I guess she forgot I was the PAYING GUEST (and she didn't even know I had a Groupon at this point). I didn't respond to her nasty comments in a nasty way. All I said was, "that's fine. I just want to grab a couple of dinner menus." She ignored me, finished what she was doing, then grabbed the menus and went through the kitchen out the back door to the dining area. She was a little snot, in plain English!! To her credit, she became a bit nicer as the evening went along, but it was too little too late. Neither one of us deserved such rude behavior. The food was NOTHING to write home about Groupon or not. We ordered the Kale & Spinach Chopped Salad to split because they don't offer a dinner salad option (even for an extra fee). It was okay, not anything better than I could put together at home. It wasn't showy or unique..just a salad with kale in a bowl with some pear and goat cheese. For dinner, my husband ordered the grilled chicken breast with mushroom sherry wine sauce. It sounded much better than it looked or tasted. The chicken was dry, and the vegetables were barely cooked. Plus, they were cut in HUGE pieces..at least 1.5" in length. Me, I ordered Basil's Salmon, a 6oz filet with a vegetable quinoa, at the cost of $25. I think for a 6oz filet that doesn't even come with an actual vegetable and starch side it should not exceed $20, but that's my personal opinion. I did NOT have an enjoyable evening thanks to the treatment received at the beginning of the evening. For a restaurant that under ten people dining, I would think management would be doing everything in their power to please and attract people. This place is not that far from Disneyland. I'm fairly sure after a long day at the park people would like to relax over a nice quiet dinner rather than be bombarded with MORE stimulation from tvs on every wall in the bar/lounge area. Sure, some people like that, but others would like to have a more delightful dining experience. Was it worth the money (even with the Groupon nearly $75). NO Would I eat there again: NO Would I recommend to others: NO This is the Disneyland resort area where there are SOOOOO many options in that price range that are much more enjoyable. They offer better service. They have employees with better attitudes, and food that's prepared much better. Overall, don't bother. read more
