    Chicken Tortellini

Overall, a quaint and romantic little spot with a cozy atmosphere. It's a great place for a date night or small dinner with friends. Service started off attentive and friendly, but once it got busy, it became harder to get someone's attention. It took a while to order dessert and close out the bill, and there was a surcharge included that they weren't willing to remove. The food, though, was excellent. I ordered the shrimp scampi and it was absolutely delicious -- easily the highlight of the night. My friends had the tortellini and really enjoyed it as well. For appetizers, we ordered the bruschetta and garlic knots, and both were standouts. The garlic knots especially were a favorite at the table. Dessert didn't disappoint either -- the tiramisu and cheesecake were both solid choices. I don't usually gravitate toward Italian food, but I'd definitely come back for the shrimp scampi.

Omggggg this spot was incredible! The flavors of everything was amazing. My husband and I shared the 1/2 chicken & veggies + sausage pasta. The veggies were to die for. Even our baby couldn't get enough of the carrot. Great portion to share! The service was outstanding. 10/10 from the moment we sat down. The staff was so friendly, so attentive, had the biggest smiles. The ambiance was so great for everyone, you could see everyone so happy because of the staff. Our server Marco or Marcus (I am pretty sure that was his name) absolutely exceeded our visit. Literally couldn't have had a better meal. So much flavor!!! It's rare to rave about the vegetables but they were to die for. Such great flavor with the chicken & pasta! Will def be back!!!

This place is pretty decent. The menu is kind of limited but you can't go wrong. I don't know if I would go back but it's a nice spot to try out.

I want to preface this by saying they do add a 3.75% surcharge which they will not remove from bill. With 7% tax and a 20% tip when dining out, the final bill adds up quickly, so it is something to factor in. For me, that makes it a tougher return, even though the food and service were great. I did not see this noted anywhere on the menu so it came as a surprise once we got the check. Service started off amazing. Once they got extremely busy we were forgotten for a bit, but honestly we were deep in conversation so it did not take away from the overall experience. The happy hour appetizers were excellent and definitely helped offset the surcharge. We ordered the shrimp scampi and tortellini. The shrimp scampi absolutely blew me away. It was easily the standout dish of the night. The tortellini was solid, but wowwwww the shrimp was next level. Tiramisu was fire. Cheesecake was good. All in all, it was a great night.

Shortly after landing in San Diego, the husband and I stopped by Rovino for their HH. Although it was pretty busy, we were seated right away. We ordered their Meatball Trio, Margherita Flatbread, and a couple drinks. Food and drinks came out quick, and both dishes were fulfilling and appetizing. Although, the meatballs were a bit salty for my personal taste. Staff was friendly and attentive, and atmosphere was cozy. Would definitely return to try out more items from their menu.

Cannot believe I waited this long to try this place but better late than never! I came around lunch, when they had only just opened. The menu is plentiful and I asked the server for his recommendation between the branzino and the cacio e pepe and he suggested the fish so I went for it, and wow! Unbelievable! The presentation is magnificent and the fish is prepared phenomenally that I literally only got one or two tiny fish bones. It's deboned very well and a delectable amount pf meat. The crema and grain with the salad underneath were divine. Honestly the balance of the flavors was spectacular. The whole time I kept thinking, "I wish I could go thank this chef because, damn!" and almost instantly, the chef came out to take care of something and stopped by to check on me and asked how everything was and I expressed all my sentiments. He mentioned the skin is edible because of how he prepared it. Usually I avoid the skin on anything but after he walked away, I decided to try a bite and holy smokes, it was beyond savory. I'm definitely bookmarking this place for the future. It's such a quaint and modern place and an excellent place for a date or special lunch.

We got here at 5:15 on a Friday with a reservation, but we wouldn't have needed it. It wasn't too busy. The service was great, food was incredible, drinks were great. Overall 10/10. Would definitely come back

Maybe 3.5 stars. Maybe Average Bolognese, average Chicken Parmigiana- need more seasoning. No Pamersan, pepper or any such spices offered. Bruschetta exceptional. Indoor decor a bit odd. Didn't like restroom down the block and outside. Service was very good. Roman Wolves will get my biz

The service was good. The manager gal kept an eye on us and made sure we were good. The indoor seating was small but adequate. The chicken was tender and had great flavor. The beef was just a bit chewy but also good. The bolognese was savory and had multiple levels of flavor. We enjoyed our meal and would come back the next time we are back in SD.

There's an ACE parking lot literally right next to the restaurant - super convenient! Unfortunately, didn't get to order dessert as service was a little slow as the night got busier and parking time was running out.

One of my fiancé and my favorite restaurants to have a dinner date. I haven't had anything that I didn't like. Most recently tried a dish we've been wanting to try since we found the place and ultimately made me fall in love with RoVino even more. The Carni Miste serves two and comes with half rotisserie chicken, premium cut steak, spicy sausage, potatoes and veggies. Everything tasted so good. Meats were tender and juicy. We always split the Cesare salad, which come with pieces of anchovy. Love! Cocktails have been promising, even have holiday cocktails during the Christmas season. Service is always exceptional. I suggest making a reservation since it gets busy and the restaurant is quite small, although some patio seating right outside. Highly recommend!

Winner, salad, arugula, salad, and tocino Everything was so Amazing! The fresh ingredients
    Cassaundra S.

Couldn't speak highly enough about this restaurant. We stopped by for lunch on Saturday. The people and the fresh ingredients are both amazing. The chef isn't truly talented and their drinks are great. He lets the ingredients stand for themselves with simple yet impactful dressings and sauces. We also had the truffle pasta which was really tasty. Too good for us to slowdown and take a picture! I noticed a lot of carry out orders. Which I would do every day if I could. But sitting down and getting to know the staff and ambiance made the experience wonderful.

Ask the Community - RoVino Restaurant + Bar

Seems like the last time I was there you could eat at the bar, or a few table next to the bar, but the rest of the seating was outside. How are you handling the rain with not many seats?

Hello. We have a retractable awning that we use while it rains. Also when you make a reservation you can request it to be indoors. Thanks for your interest!

Are dogs allowed on the patio?

With covid I'd call and ask

Do they allow dogs? Inside and outside?

I believe only outside this is more of a fine dinning restaurant so doubt indoor

    Does the restaurant allow strollers?

I didn't see that they were expressly prohibiting them.

Is there a bar area where one can dine solo?

Yes! Rovino has a small bar area that's perfect for a solo meal. I've done it many times!

Is this place good for a big group of 15-17 people?

It's pretty small. You might be able to book it but you need to call the owner. He is a great guy and his staff and food are outrageously good.

Do they offer a corkage fee?

    Yes. $20

    When is happy hour?

Hello. Our Happy Hour is from 3-6 PM Monday through Friday.

    Kids menu or not?

Hello. We do have a kids menu available. We are able to do plain cheese Flatbreads with plain sauce. Also we are able to do plain pasta with butter and cheese only and half portions of any pasta as well are available.

Staff was also not very attentive to guests' needs, rather just going through the motions. For instance, they noted "standing room only" and that they would eventually seat our party of two. They walked us to an exact spot on the floor to stand and view the menu in the dark (we used our phone flashlights, but it wasn't easy while carrying our belongings too), and they instructed us not to order at the bar in this colorful but dimly lit tiki lounge. We essentially ordered from staff who took our order in the middle of the floor, then we had to hold our drinks, some that came with additional shot glasses, in full hands, as we were never seated. We did find a barrel to set our drinks on later, but their process and expectations for guests was just really weird and impractical. The theme and decor of the setting was lovely, with moments of a lightning and thunder effect that made the experience more immersive. But we were not impressed by the sticky menus and sticky floor, nor the lack of service and minimal help from staff while there. We made the most of our time at False Idol regardless of their shortcomings. The bombay sling and enigma de muerte were pretty decent in quality and flavor, so it's safe to say the drinks aren't the problem here. And though we probably won't return, it was cool for a one-time experience.

My only complaint was that we didn't get to sit in the disco room--it looked so fun and was definitely one of the coolest parts of the restaurant. We skipped the cocktail menu and ordered pornstar martinis instead, and they were incredible. The passionfruit tasted fresh and natural, not overly sweet or artificial. For food, we shared the mozzarella sticks with caviar crème fraîche ($23), which came with a surprisingly generous portion of caviar. We also ordered the Caesar salad, which was a great size for sharing, and the Starlight Burger with a Wagyu patty and fries. Everything was delicious and exceeded our expectations. The service was just as impressive. Our server was attentive without being overbearing and checked in frequently to make sure we had everything we needed. Parking is a nightmare good luck finding parking within a mile of the restaurant. Pros: atmosphere, drinks, service Cons: food wasn't great for the price, restaurant was small and crowded, no parking Service: All of our servers were friendly and very accommodating. Gave us some knowledge on the menu and recommended cocktails based on our preference. I had spilled my drink and they were quick to make me another one. Food: I had intended to get the prime ribeye cap steak but they ran out for the night around 8pm. I shared the steak sampler which came with four different cuts of steak and 4 sauces. I ordered medium and it was cooked medium/medium rare which was fine with me, it also had a good sear, almost burnt though. Out of the four steaks, we only liked two based off flavor and tenderness. The other two were more tough and gamey. None of the sauces really stood out but the bordelaise and horseradish were good. For our sides we got fries, roasted broccoli, and the grilled wedge salad. Fries were average. The roasted broccoli had really good flavor, I expected the broccoli to be al dente but it was cooked to mush and drenched in sauce. The grilled wedge salad was decent, there was a slightly bitter taste to it. I know it says grilled wedge but the experience of biting into the salad and it being both hot and cold was not pleasant. Cocktails: I tried the Honey Ryder and New Wave. These were recommended as the more fruity/sweet cocktails. You can definitely taste the alcohol but it's only 2oz so it's not too strong. Ambience: 10/10 I got seated downstairs by the bar. Only thing about downstairs is that it's too dark to take photos unless you use flash. Overall, I agree with the other reviews saying to go just for drinks and appetizers. I would go again just to sit upstairs and get drinks and take pictures. We left unsatisfied and ended up getting in-n-out after.

If you're not a regular, be careful, because apparently all it takes is one drunk friend of the staff making up a story to get you kicked out. While visiting San Diego with friends, we came here after hearing so many great things. There was a short wait, which was fine. The four of us were seated at a small standing table, also fine. Behind us were two guys drinking at the standing bar. One of them bumped into my friend and then stroked her arm while apologizing. She was visibly uncomfortable, so I told her to switch places with me. The guy immediately said, "We're gay, so you don't have to worry," then turned to his friend and said, "Now he looks so stupid and embarrassing." I told him, "I don't think it's embarrassing to make sure your friends are comfortable," then turned back around. I didn't argue with him, insult him, or continue the conversation. I thought that was the end of it. A few minutes later, the manager came over and told us we had made comments that made other patrons uncomfortable and asked us to leave. We had already paid for our drinks and were still waiting for them. My friend followed the manager to ask what was going on, and I joined shortly after. The person complaining was, of course, the same guy who had bumped into her. He was clearly drunk and started rambling about how we had made homophobic comments toward him and his friend. This was especially ridiculous considering the friend I switched places with was there with her girlfriend. We calmly explained exactly what happened. The manager did not care. There was no real attempt to hear our side, ask questions, or figure out what actually happened. The decision had clearly already been made. While we were speaking to the manager, the guy who complained was cheerfully talking with one of the bartenders, receiving a to-go meal, and greeting them cheek to cheek. He very obviously appeared to know the staff. So that seems to be how things work here: a drunk regular or friend of the staff can make up whatever story he wants, and management will throw out an entire group of paying customers without even pretending to investigate. They refunded the drinks, which was the bare minimum. The ambience was nice, but that means absolutely nothing when the staff handles customers this poorly. Awful management, blatant favoritism, and easily the worst service I have ever experienced. I would never come back, and I would strongly warn anyone who isn't already friends with the staff to stay away.

This one is long overdue--not that they need my review, because by now everyone already knows how amazing this place is. What keeps me coming back is the combination of great music, an energetic vibe, outstanding service, and some of the most creative cocktails you'll find anywhere. Tonight was girls' night out, so we decided to order the prettier, and sweeter cocktails. But don't let the sweet flavors fool you--they are definitely generous with the alcohol. These drinks may taste dangerously easy to sip, but they pack a punch! I don't even remember the names of the cocktails we ordered, but honestly, that doesn't matter because the menu changes so often. And that's one of the things I love most about Music Bar. Every visit brings something new, fresh, and exciting to try. Both of my drinks were absolutely delicious, with the perfect balance of sweet and savory flavors. I honestly don't know how the bartenders come up with these combinations, but kudos to the team for constantly pushing their creativity while still making every cocktail incredibly well balanced. Whether you're a first-time visitor or a regular, Music Bar never disappoints. I'll definitely keep coming back to see what new creations they come up with next. Cheers to one of my favorite cocktail spots in San Diego!

Speakers and vinyls line the walls. Vibes are more elevated here than at your usual bar. I ordered the Nickel Fortune, which came out with a fun tarot card. It was a savory drink with a nice lingering of sesame oil after each sip. Seating is pretty limited inside, so reservations are recommended. CMB's website states that "cocktail attire is celebrated."

Always a 5 Star experience when gathering for drinks here…read more Over the years, the names have changed for the provider of Polite Provision's delicious orderable food to go along with their polite provisions. Items such as scrupulously prepared meatballs, fried polenta, spaghetti with mushroom sauce, etc., from the prior next-door, connected purveyor "Soda and Swine"...but those days are done ...I digress. And where is Soda and Swine's Yelp page? I know I did a review, but now the page appears gone completely in search? Nah, it's just hidden, presumably to accommodate Fortunate Sons, which opened about a year ago after re-construction of both establishments. I'm too lazy to see if still owned by Consortium Group. I did search my reviews and found my updated Soda & Swine review dated 8 & 10 years ago. O_o !! Now, food is still served, however, there's a new name in town called "Fortunate Son" (next door, connected). Apparently, food now served is Asian-inspired. I've not visited recently to taste. The North Park area is a great neighborhood with many different types of food close by. While you're there, don't forget to stop by "An's Dry Cleaners", where the most inventive gelato's, ice creams and sorbets come from.

Definitely make a reservation in advance through OpenTable because they fill up pretty quickly. There is also a deposit required, which you can lose if you no-show or cancel within 24 hours, but the deposit is refunded once you arrive for your reservation. When you arrive, a hostess greets you at the entrance. There's a small waiting area where you can sit until they come get you. Then there's a door where you press a button, and it opens to bring you into the restaurant/bar. Inside, there's a mix of tables and bar seating, and they serve food in addition to having an extensive cocktail menu. The drink menu was definitely the highlight for me. There were so many creative and unique cocktails that really stood out. I'm usually not a huge cocktail person because I don't like overly sweet drinks, and it can be surprisingly difficult to find cocktails that are both original and sophisticated enough to actually sip and enjoy. They definitely nailed that here. I tried several: *Kasato Maru: This was so smooth and absolutely delicious. By far my favorite. You could really pick up the St. Germain elderflower and pear, and the flavors worked beautifully together. Definitely one of my favorites. *Sunomono: This was more liquor-forward, but still incredibly smooth. Definitely a good choice if you want something that lets the spirits shine. *Je Ju: Unfortunately, this one wasn't for me. It had a really unusual flavor that just didn't work with my palate, and my friend wasn't a fan either. I'm usually not one to send a drink back, but the staff was fantastic about it. They happily took it back and made me a completely different cocktail. *Softly Spoken: My friend ordered this one, and it came in a glass filled with small ice cubes. I tried it and thought it was really good, but it wasn't quite my personal preference. It definitely had more of a fruity flavor profile. The food looked absolutely amazing although we didn't eat here this time. There are still so many cocktails on the menu that I want to try so I'll definitely need to come back. The atmosphere is dimly lit, intimate, and full of character. It has that cool, moody feel that makes you want to sit back, sip a cocktail, and stay awhile. And the service was phenomenal from start to finish. Overall, this was such a fun experience. Great atmosphere, creative cocktails, excellent service, and plenty more on the menu I still want to try. I can't wait to come back!
