    Dollar oysters
    Taz H.

Lovely happy hour experience - we arrived about 4:45 pm and there was plenty of room at the bar and lounge area. The oysters are a dollar with a 12 per person limit (still plenty). Service was prompt and friendly but not too overbearing. They even split the burger proactively knowing we were sharing. Hope to join again sometime!

Delicious seafood! Great happy hour deals. We got their dollar oysters - sooo good. Mussels were in a buttery sauce, topped with sourdough that had a smoky char. Lobster bisque was super creamy and delicious. Not pictured is their buttery lobster roll that we ate immediately without a picture.

During our last night staying at Hotel Commonwealth, we were looking for dinner nearby. We didn't even realize this restaurant was in the hotel! To our surprise, it was one of the best meals we had while in the city. And that says a lot!

I visited this restaurant on a recommendation from a family member who had previously dined at their Seaport location. While I had reservations for a high top table, it was quiet inside, so I opted to sit at the bar since I was a party of one. The bartender was very friendly and checked on me regularly throughout my meal to see if I needed another drink, liked my food, and if I wanted to see a dessert menu. I always appreciate the extra attention, especially when dining alone and at the bar area. I had the lobster bao bun for an appetizer and the crab pasta for the main course. I also had a pineapple cocktail, but I can't remember the name. Every bite was full of flavor and at no point that I think that it was lacking something or needed more of a seasoning. It is on the pricier side for the portion for the lobster, but I felt that my crab pasta was reasonably priced. I am curious what the Seaport location is like and if I return to Boston again, I would like to try that location to compare!

Row 34 - Kenmore Square|Boston opened on August 7, 2025 next to the Hotel Commonwealth. They also have other locations in the Seaport, Kendall Square (Cambridge), Burlington, and Portsmouth NH. They feature a fresh raw bar, a variety of seafood dishes & starters, pasta, roasted chicken, steak, burgers, and salads. The prices are on the higher end. The bar serves up 8 beers on draft, wine by the glass, and cocktails. The space has a modern atmosphere with dim lighting and candlelight at each table. I stopped by Row 34 in Kenmore Square for late night food. I took a seat up at the bar for prompt service. The bartender offered a drink, but I stuck with still water. I placed my order for the Lager Steamed Maine Mussels ($18 plus tax) and House Made Rigatoni ($32 plus tax). The food arrived together as requested. The steamed mussels (30) were very hot, served in a bowl with plenty savory broth, and grilled buttered ciabatta bread slices on the side. The rigatoni was al dente tossed with shrimp, sweet corn, tomatoes, parmesan cheese in a creamy basil pesto sauce. This pasta dish had nice flavors snd satisfying. I did get boxes & bag for the bread and some of the pasta. The service was adequate here with the bartender refilling my glass of water and the kitchen runner bringing out my food in 15 minutes. I enjoyed the mussels and pesto shrimp pasta bowl. I will have to try their lobster roll on another visit, which has been highly recommended by others. The check was presented after boxing the food, which was $55.37 with tax and 3.5 percent kitchen appreciation fee, before tip. The kitchen appreciation fee has been a hot button topic on local foodie groups. The kitchen appreciation fee on this bill was actually 3.75 percent =3.5 percent x 1.07 ($1.75+$0.12) with the fee added to the bill before being taxed, which is just plain wrong and should be separated out from the meals tax. This fee is automatically added to all checks, but can be removed upon request. Their website also discloses the fee, which I already expected walking in here. Most diners would agree, just raise the menu prices accordingly to compensate kitchen staff properly and call it a day.

After a long day of travel checked into the hotel, and went downstairs for an amazing meal and great service. The bartender was very kind and made sure to answer all of my out of town questions. Now let's talk food; Lobster bisque yummy but the butter lobster roll. ...Amazing!! Good for happy hours, date night or a quick drink. This place is great!!

Very busy for a late Wednesday evening. First time in Boston from California and thought we get some seafood, and this had nice reviews, the butter lobster roll was tasty, but had some slimy pieces of lobster skin, no meat, I filtered out. Potato chips were ok and the coleslaw was tasty, Not worth the 54.00 unfortunately, My boyfriend really enjoyed his favorite fried oysters and fries, servers were great and the restaurant had great ambiance.

Ethel's creamy lobster and Confit tuna bucatini

Our experience was wonderful eating here for the first time! This place was recommended by a friend and it definitely did not disappoint. I tried four different oysters which were so fresh and sweet. The Ethel's creamy lobster roll was very very good! The sauce mixture the lobster was mixed in had so much flavor with the creamy factor perfectly in place. It was sweet, yet savory and paired well with the freshly fried chips on the side. The confit tuna bucatini was thoroughly enjoyed as well with a red sauce full of fresh tuna and pancetta. Our waitress was extremely knowledgeable about her recommendations as well as the dishes we were interested in. The restaurant itself was a newer location. Everything was clean and pristine.

I have a gluten allergy, and I ate with no concerns! Gluten free burger was very good, but sadly the fry's are not safe. A bit loud in the restaurant. Service was very good, our water was quite attentive! Overall a great spot to eat in a good location!

We walked into a warm, energetic space with dim lighting, an open dining room, and a constant buzz that makes it a great choice for a night out with friends or a date. The restaurant has a vibrant, social energy that encourages sharing and exploration, and the open layout adds to the sense of activity without feeling chaotic. Rather than ordering individual entrées, the experience is centered around sharing a variety of dishes, making each visit feel a little different depending on what you choose. The tapas are the highlight of the menu, with plenty of options that encourage trying a little bit of everything. The bacon-wrapped dates are one of the signature dishes, balancing sweet and savory flavors, while the patatas bravas, croquettes, and charcuterie boards are reliable choices to start the meal. If you are looking for something more substantial, the seafood paella and squid ink pasta stand out as excellent main dishes, offering rich flavors and generous portions that are easy to split between two or more people. The olive oil cake is also worth saving room for if you want to end the meal with dessert, and the overall progression of the meal works well with the tapas format. The drink menu is just as impressive as the food. Wine is the main focus, with an extensive list featuring Spanish and international selections, but the sangria and cocktails are equally popular. It is the kind of place where you can easily spend a couple of hours sharing plates while working your way through a few different drinks, and the beverage program is thoughtfully curated to match the style of the food. Service is one of the restaurant's strongest points. The staff are knowledgeable about both the menu and wine list, and dishes arrive steadily throughout the meal instead of all at once, creating a relaxed dining pace. The pacing allowed us to enjoy each dish without feeling rushed, and the team checked in at the right moments without hovering. The restaurant is consistently busy, especially on weekends, so reservations are highly recommended. Even with a reservation, there can occasionally be a short wait, and the lively atmosphere means the dining room can get quite loud during peak hours. The energy of the room is part of what makes the experience work, but it is worth keeping in mind if you are looking for a quieter dinner. Barcelona Wine Bar is one of the best places in Boston for Spanish-inspired tapas and wine. The combination of flavorful shareable dishes, a well-curated drink menu, attentive service, and vibrant atmosphere makes it an easy choice for group dinners, celebrations, or date nights. It offers a meal that feels both communal and polished, with a setting that encourages slowing down and enjoying the evening. Just be prepared for the energetic environment and plan ahead if you are visiting during the busiest times.

From the moment you enter, the setting makes an impression -- the dining room is decadent and beautifully designed, with rich finishes, dramatic details, and sweeping city views that create a luxurious yet inviting atmosphere. It feels special without being overly formal, making it perfect for celebrations or a sophisticated afternoon treat. The tea selection is thoughtfully curated, featuring high-quality blends that range from classic black and green teas to more delicate herbal options. Each tea is aromatic, well-balanced, and served with care, allowing guests to truly savor the experience. The sweet pastries are a standout. Beautifully presented and expertly crafted, they deliver flavor and texture without being overly sweet -- a balance that elevates the entire tea service. Each bite feels refined rather than heavy, allowing you to enjoy the full assortment without feeling overwhelmed. The savory selections complement the sweets nicely, rounding out the experience. People recently wondered why Boston got nearly entirely shut out by the Michelin people (only 1…read moreone-star was given); among the places that were said to be in the running was Amar, located in a lovely space in the Raffles Hotel. We have been there twice, and I now will put my brief review. The take-home: if Boston, Raffles, and Amar think they deserve a star, they really need to up their game. I will get one thing out of the way very quickly: the food is spectacular and the wine service was excellent; these are not the reason for my comment. The simple truth folks is that a dining experience is not JUST about the food. It's about ambiance--which includes service and atmosphere, and that is where Amar just falls apart. It would be wrong to not recognize that the individual servers were quite nice and attentive. We had an 830 pm seating--hardly late in most cities, though one might suggest that in Boston that is on the later side (it really isn't folks). Regardless, by 1030-11 pm, the dining room was nearly empty on a Saturday night. At that moment, a server came over to us to alert us the kitchen was closing--which was obviously them saying "get out"--but soon thereafter the smell of cleaning fluid filled the air, and we realized there was a person cleaning the tables--with a cleaning cart, complete with mops, brooms, and cleaning fluid in the middle of the dining room. While people were seated and eating. This is a restaurant with a pricey menu and wine list, and I cannot remember a time when dining in a fine restaurant when something like this EVER happened. We found it funny at first, but while trying to eat our dessert and drink our final cocktails the smell of ammonia really ruined the final experience. In the end, once served with the bill, it was not funny. The bill was around $1000 for 4 people including a nice bottle of wine. So: expensive, nice individual service, good food. But the lack of awareness about how diners paying for an expensive meal feel being rushed, and then the utterly ludicrous presence of a cleaning cart in the middle of the dining room while people were still eating (I posted a photo) makes Amar a laughable memory but nowhere I'd go back to.

Unfortunately, this most recent visit didn't live up to the high standards I've come to expect. While a few dishes hit the mark, the majority of our order was a letdown: Tinned Octopus: Surprisingly chewy and lacked seasoning. Mushroom Toast: The texture was rubbery, and the flavor was completely drowned out by an aggressive amount of balsamic. Beets: Had a very overwhelming cumin flavor that threw the dish out of balance. Roast Beef Slider: Served cold and felt a bit uninspired. It's such a cute, intimate space, and I've had so many wonderful nights here in the past, but the execution was just off this time around. I'm hoping it was just an off night, but it was definitely disappointing given how much I usually love this place!
