What a disappointment. Row 34's fish sandwich uses pollock instead of cod. This is the same fish used in McDonald's Filet-O-Fish. Pollock is cheap, with too much cholesterol, and flakes into tiny pieces. Will not go back to this place. There are plenty of shacks in NE that serve way better fish sandwich than Row 34. read more

Two visits, two perfect oyster plates. Don't need to say much more ... but I will. Row 43 is the quintessential oyster bar, that just happens to have a fine dining restaurant wrapped around it. I stopped in on a gray autumn day, and was greeted cheerfully. Much to this business traveler's delight, they offered to check my carry on bag; way too many restaurants in this price range are not so thoughtful. I got a seat at the aforementioned bar and perused the offerings. The bartender was nice enough to mention that the more fulsome lunch menu would close in 10 minutes, to be replaced by a smaller bar bites menu till dinner time, and, armed with that info, I ordered from the lunch menu. I chose a platter of mixed oysters and shrimp. They were served properly cold, with as many types of sauce as possible (cocktail, mignonette, mustard, and a milder tomato). The bivalves were plump, tender, briny and d-lish! The shrimp were cooked well; not limp and not rubbery. When I asked, they brought (wait for it) ... house-made saltines. Who MAKES saltines? The New England Clam Chowder was best in breed. Rich, creamy, full of tender clams, potatoes and bacon. I'd bathe in it if I could. The warm buttered lobster roll was the priciest I've ever had; $34. It was full of lobster, and served with house made chips and cole slaw, and it was tasty; maybe not the best one I've ever had, but certainly good. Would I order it again at that price point? Maybe not, but it was worth a try. Service was fantastic; the house brewed unsweetened Iced Tea was excellent. All in all, highly recommended for a raw bar lunch when in Boston. read more

We visited Row 34 for brunch. Unfortunately they no longer have $1 oysters. We got a dozen of oysters different varieties. Our favorite were the island creek oysters. We also ordered the pulled pork burger which was very flavorful with a nice toasted bun. The homemade chips were also very delicious. The fish tacos were a pretty big portion and had a huge chunk of fish. The jubilee cocktail was fruity and yummy! You can't taste the alcohol much but it was a strong drink. The tea-off cocktail was a great cocktail and the ingredients worked really well with whiskey. Overall the food and drinks were good. Our first stop for some NEW ENGLAND cuisine. We made reservations just in case because I heard this place can get busy but we came in sooner before the lunch rush and luckily got in sooner. We ordered a bit of everything: a bowl of chowder, calamari, fish and chips, deep fried oysters and a single shrimp cocktail and a single raw little neck oyster. The chowder as Vince quotes "this is the best chowder I've ever had" The calamari was perfect and crunchy and lightly breaded. The raw oyster was yummy and I don't even like oysters all that much. FAVORITE LOBSTER ROLL We had a Saturday dinner at the Boston Seaport location of Row 34. We were glad we made reservations as the restaurant is not as large as photos make it appear. We had a great table watching the expeditor as he managed a calm and cheerful kitchen and a slightly impatient waitstaff. Our server was friendly and attentive. We started with a bowl of clam chowder ($13) and the smoked salmon pate ($12). For our entrees, we ordered the lobster roll ($42) and fried oysters ($36 entrée size). The clam chowder tasted more of bacon than clam. The chunky fish dip was a large portion (enough for 2-3 people) served with toasted sourdough bread - ask for more bread. The freshly fried oysters - at least 30 medium size oysters - were hot, crisp and plump (no fishy or oily after taste). The Row 34 lobster roll was my favorite lobster roll with large chunks of perfectly cooked lobster tail that might have been poached in butter (the lobster was so silky, tender and flavorful). Other reviewers have commented that the lobster roll here is smaller and/or pricier than other places but while it is not as large as Legal Seafoods lobster roll (my second favorite lobster roll), it is a good size quality lobster roll. I was hoping to end the meal with Row 34's popular chocolate flourless cake but that night's dessert menu was limited to a pudding, sorbet, ice cream and cookies. The small scoops of mango sorbet ($3) and vanilla ice cream ($3) was a disappointing end to a delicious meal. read more

Really cute seafood spot in Fort Point/Seaport! The interior was just redone and has a very modern, fresh vibe; really beautiful restaurant. There is also a patio for outdoor seating (make a reservation 100%, regardless of if you want to sit inside or outside). For dinner I tried the tuna tartare, the large steamed mussels, the roasted corn, and the fried fish tacos. I thought all the fish was very fresh and seasoned well, the tuna tartare and the mussels in the parsley butter were my favorite dishes. I will definitely return to Row 34! read more

Really cool spot in Boston! I would definitely recommend anyone to checkout this spot. They have very cool ambiance and the staff was very nice. They allowed me to try a few local beers before stepping in and making a decision, even though they were a little busy. I tried there lobster roll, which was very good, but not my favorite and probably wouldn't have it again. However, I have spoken to others and this is their favorite, so it truly depends on the style of lobster roll you like (the bun, cold/hot lobster, butter, etc.) Again, i would recommend this place and if you are around this area, check it out! read more

Stumbled upon this place after a quick Yelp search and I'm SO glad I did. I was a single diner here on business, so sat at the bar. Had a great vodka martini, delicious half dozen oysters that the bartender chose for me after I told him the type of oysters I like. And then, the best part was the warm buttered lobster roll. In a city with many high quality seafood restaurants, this one is definitely one of the best ones. High quality raw oysters (love their Fin Da la Baie) and delicious lobster roll (up there with Neptune Oyster's and Eventide's). Make sure to also try their tuna crudo and seared cod. Yes please! I was in Boston in need of a seafood fix. So many choices! I chose the Boston location of Row 34. It did not disappoint. I had a group of 6 midday with no reservation. They didn't bat an eye and seated us promptly. The service was seamless. We ordered several cocktails as they all sounded so good we couldn't pick. Every choice was excellent. Each of us ordered a different dish and they were all fully consumed. The crab fried rice was not ordered by me but after trying a bite I was sad I didn't have a box going home of that with me. We ordered from the raw bar and the oysters were so fresh and delicious. The waiter was well versed in the differences between each oyster which was a relief! One of our party is vegan. She did not expect to find much as it's a seafood place not a vegan place but she was oh so happily surprised! The staff was well versed in all of the menu items and was able to guide her to several options, all of which she loved. No pictures were taken of the food as we ate every bite. However upon leaving we noticed the sanitation report and we couldn't resist a pic of it. Ate here for dinner while on work travel and heard this place is a must visit. We went early to avoid long waits and were greeted by the friendly staff. Once our party showed up they sat us down. I'm not a huge fan of seafood since I come from desert land but was happy to see that they had other options on the menu. I got the Flat Iron Steak which was a bit high priced but so was the sea food. Our meals came out quickly and I appreciated the presentation of the food. My steak was very juicy and cooked the way I like it. I never had a steak with sweet potato, kale and roasted onions but it was all of those flavors that tied it all together in a harmonious way. We took our waiter's recommendations and tried the Aunt Dotty and Butter and Brine oysters, both of which were excellent. He said that his favorite dish is the tuna crudo so of course we tried that as well, and it was outstanding with a great mix of flavors that complement each other so well. For mains we shared the squid ink bucatini and Ethel's creamy lobster roll, both of which I'd also recommend. The bucatini had a delicious tomato butter sauce, and the vegetables had a hint of bitter which I usually don't like but somehow worked perfectly in this dish. The lobster roll was so creamy and flavorful without being too heavy, and the lobster was clearly very fresh. The fries that came with the roll were pretty average but we came here for the seafood so no complaints there. We came on a Tuesday night without a reservation and waited around 30 minutes for a table which was not bad at all, and we enjoyed walking around Seaport while we waited. Given that they were this busy on a Tuesday I would definitely recommend making a reservation ahead of time if you want to come on a weekend or other peak time. We sat outside which was nice to enjoy the weather but a bit loud because of nearby construction so perhaps request a table inside if that's something that would bother you. Overall a great place to try if you're a fan of seafood, and I would definitely eat here again. read more

Definitely more of a date night sort of place, but my friend and I wanted to try it out so we dressed up and went on a little date. We called ahead to make a reservation and I told the hostess we were celebrating our two year anniversary. (It was our Facebook friendship anniversary. So I wasn't technically lying) The waitress was informed and was super sweet to us and brought us dessert on the house as a celebration. She went above and beyond offering to take our picture in different lightings and making sure we were sat in as secluded a spot as possible. The food was delicious. They have a raw bar, and you order from it kind of like you would write down a sushi order with pencil and paper. I ordered one of each oyster they had to offer and a tuna tartare. Both items were very delicious. My fries ordered the fish and chips. The fries were incredible, but she felt the fish was rather plain. Overall, she enjoyed the meal and the ambience.
