ROW DTLA - perfect view of dtla - Shopping Centers Near Me - Los Angeles, California

I work on the other side of Alameda. During lunch time yesterday, I needed to get some lunch, so I planned to walk to Mc Donald's, and on the way, I saw the words: Shop, Dine, Work... on the big-o-parking structure (that's the only thing we can see from Alameda). So I took the chance to cross Alameda, maybe I would find a great place for lunch in this industrial area. The only proper sidewalk available to this place is on Center St, but after crossing Alameda, I saw a black gate blocking the sidewalk, and a security guy on the other side walking to it, he checked if it's locked, and it was, then he left. So I thought this place is not open to the public, or at least not to pedestrians like me (LOL). I was about to return to the other side of Alameda, but I saw a couple of customers walking by, going around the black gate that blocked the side walk, and getting in through the drive way, around the closed parking bar. I followed them, it was a fun walk to me. Not so many people around in Friday afternoon. I checked out the stores, there were 2 food trucks for Tacos and Thai food, a Japanese Fried Chicken shop, Cafe Dulce from Little Tokyo with less selections but still as good, an ice cream shop, a wine shop, a couple other coffee shops, about 3-4 clothing stores, 1 kid store, some kind if offices... That were all I can recall. The whole place looked kind of weird to me, I heard that because it's a protected Art Building, so the building must remain as it is with yellow or gray cement on the surface here and there (like an abandon building), only store fronts were brand newly painted. Surrounding area looked like construction with metal fences, trucks, and industrial companies.... I didn't drive so I have no reviews for parking, but mostly Yelp complains are for their parking. I guess they only make money out of the parking. Not from pedestrians like me. LOL Anyway, I'll come back again, just for a good exercise from work. Hope I won't be stopped by getting in through the drive way. I also hope they can do more marketing, attract more vendors and customers to make the place more alive. Maybe 5 years later, it will become a must-go attraction in DTLA. read more

Came here for LA Winefest and it was a terrific location for this event. It used to be at Ralleigh Studios (which I loved) and then last year moved to an awful location in Hollywood. I hope they keep this location from now on. I enjoyed the layout and there was plenty of shade if you needed to cool down from the heat. read more

In the middle of nowhere, there's a playground for the wealthy and those who just want to window shop and do some eating. I really can't think of anything bad to say about this location. I understand there are parking issues, but I don't drive. What I do find fascinating is that there will be no more new indoor shopping malls, because this type of design or place, such as Americana, etc is the new shopping mall. To pretend to be a street or just a zone for a city within a city is an amazing concept. The Downtown I was raised with no longer exists. This is sometimes a bad and good thing at the same time. Definitely one of the most stylish and interesting shopping areas I have ever been. From the buildings' architecture to the merchandise of the stores, the vibe in this area is great! I came to Smorgasburg two Sundays ago for the first time and I was in love. We walked around for about 20 minutes because there were so many good places that it was hard to decide. Finally, I settled for the pastrami sandwich from Ugly Drum. Delicious! The parking was cheap too for L.A. I will definitely return one of these weekends! read more

Please keep the car-free fun coming in LA! It was great to park our motor vehicle/constant weight around the neck in the huge and convenient structure, and make our way for several hours of strolling, eating and shopping. We started at the tail end of Smorgasburg and possibly set a record for amount of porky food eaten within 45 minutes: peppery ribs, Filipino "sushi" with pork belly; 1986 taco and a slice of tlayuda with chorizo. We then walked off as much of that as possible over the entire Row complex, enjoying clothing stores such as Galerie LA. Also recognized spots from other neighborhoods that have located here, like Yolk and A&R. Great to see them here. There is a little disconnect between the stores and the Smorgasburg crowd-- it would be smart for the stores to do more to reach out. But for those who can venture on their own, there's plenty to see. Looking forward to Tartine too. We pressed our noses into their windows and observed the staff training inside. This was an interesting experience to see but nothing too special. A bunch of artsy people wandering around purchasing food from food trucks or items from booths. The music/DJ was the best thing about the place. Food trucks, in general, are overpriced for tiny amounts of food and usually quite unhealthy. Came here for the Everlane popup on a Sunday. Little did I know they have this huge food truck gathering with hundreds of options! Vibe was cool throughout the location from the shops to the courtyard. I found some stores I'll definitely go back to. Sort-of stumbled upon the ROW on accident while walking around a nearby park- and what a happy accident it was! With some cute shops/boutiques that you don't see everywhere and endearing small cafés and restaurants, we had a great time walking around and peeking into the different stores. Be aware, though, parking can be difficult and expensive (I recommend Uber or Lyft) and most of the stores are very high-end, those who are ballin' in a budget should be ready to look, but not touch. And then be prepared for major attitude from the parking attendants who instead of nicely explaining to you that they're so sorry if you misunderstood but parking is an arm and a leg will spit back at you that "if you had read the sign carefully you would see" only to hang up immediately after. read more

Shops are pretty unique, but it is pretty empty. I was shocked that my parking turned into $12. Beware that you need to get validation, otherwise they would charge $2 per 15 minutes. When I entered the parking lot, I saw the cheaper rates for validated parking, but did not see that it was for validated parking... Even after a shopping spree here, the shopkeepers did not mention validated parking, so I completely missed it. read more

This Row is deffinetly the up and coming spot to visit. There is an Oyster bar that goes above and beyond. Had the pleasure to meet the chef for lunch. Chef Wilson took care of me. I absolutely love everything that is going on here at ROW. The shops, the food, the events and atmosphere are all incredibly fantastic. I find it MIND BLOWING that so many people here complained about parking. I have been here a dozen times and never once paid a dollar for parking. Read the signs people. Get your parking validated at any of the retail or restaurants, this is standard practice for Los Angeles parking structures. The parking is so convenient and massive-- I actually come here because the parking is so effortless and everywhere else in downtown is such a nightmare to get to and park. I am sincerely looking forward to seeing all the upcoming projects row has to offer, especially looking forward to M. Georgina restaurant opening. Last but not least, everyone must check out the Manufactory! I will be dreaming about the food there for another week at least. Cheers! read more

I went there today to check out the stores. I followed the instructions on my mapping app and ended up in the wrong place and was then directed around the block. I drove in and parked in the structure. It said 1st hour free. I got out of my car and it was completely unclear where I was supposed to go. I finally found what appeared to be a coffee house. It seemed like this was also the entrance to the stores. I found a security guard and he pointed to the stores. There is no way anyone would ever find this place unless they were specifically looking for it. Once inside there were a couple of stores with beautiful expensive gift wares and a couple of coffee houses. I was totally disappointed. I went back to my car to leave and was charged for parking because one needs to get their parking ticket validated. When I drove in it was not clearly marked that the first hour was free with validation if it even said that. The attendant told me I would have to back my car up and walk back to the coffee house I purchased lunch at to get my ticket validated. Seriously. I paid for parking and left. Honestly I wish I had read these reviews before wasting my lunch hour. read more

Amazing new project in Downtown LA. New stores are opening everyday. ROW has a great feel with hip vendors. Lucky scent and Vrai and Oro to name a few. Far better than walking around a mall. The ROW is a great way to spend the day. Go on a Sunday with 60 food trucks. So much fun with fantastic food! Free massive parking lot. I love ROW DTLA!! read more

Don't pay for parking before going to your car. Went to an event yesterday there, paid for parking before getting to my car ($18) and when I got to the gate, it went up and said something about free parking. I went to the parking office which no one is in until 2pm on a Saturday so since I wasn't going to wait any longer (already had waited for 20 mins) the nice security guy in the security office gave me an email address to contact. Well still haven't heard back. Such a waste will never come back here for anything. Who charges ppl $18 for parking when it just has the gate open? read more

You know what's funny to me, is that as nice of a growing establishment this location IS... and as much potential as this place has... the security that they hired is trash. Like real life garbage. Again, PLEASE DO NOT GET ME WRONG AT ALL... This place is still growing and building and I love the feel of it as well as the environment and location in which it dwells. They have creative stores, tons of vendors, and vending, and so much more potential. Now they have two restrooms towards the end of one of the rows. And a lady who seems to work at one of the locations gave me the passcode, which is needed to access their restrooms. I use the restroom which has about 6-7 stalls, and I washed my hands and left. Moments later, I had to go again, and this time, I partially remembered the code. I asked the lazy a*$ security guard what the code was and he told me that he couldn't tell me. Was I suppose to urinate on myself in the hot a$% Los Angeles weather? or what? I didn't get why he couldn't give it to me. Not to mention, the restrooms are miles and miles away from regular civilization. (I'm kind of just kidding, but it is a good walk). So, I eventually figured the password out and when I walked out, I noticed a group of girls walking towards the restroom. I heard the disappointment of them not knowing the code when they got to the door, and I know I probably should've stood by and waited to put the code in for them, but I'm more than sure they wouldn't have done it for me. *shrugs* Now, AGAIN, this establishment is really gonna be a hit thing in about two years, but the security agency still sucks. After we ate, and walked around, and planned our future, my best friend and I decided that it was a good vibe and a good time to take pictures. So she pulled out her camera and we started snapping away. I mean EVERYONE else had posted pictures while at the location and those pictures were posted and so I didn't quite understand why the male security guards sent over the female security to walk alllllll the way where we were 9We weren't close to her or them), just to tell us that WE CAN'T TAKE PICTURES ON THE PROPERTY. TF? What's the point of other peoples pictures, if that's the case?! I was so confused. By that time we had already had a full-blown photo shoot. We grabbed our shit, threw our purses over our shoulders, and murmured a few hyperboles with curse words. lol... But it just didn't make sense. So besides all, if the security guards nonsense, the vegan food was the bomb... The Happiness Starts Here Tea" was the bomb... The macaroons were suuuuuuper bomb... Like I'm going again next weekend and I'm going to make sure that we have another photoshoot!!! read more
