I've heard a decent amount of hype around this spot, and finally decided to give it a go. Came on a Friday night, and wasn't too busy and got my food quickly. I got a medium spicy big rowdy sandwich and the street salad. The big rowdy sandwich had amazing crunch, and was super juicy inside. The flavors were good, and the mint chutney balanced with the tamarind chutney I added. The bun was soft, and overall it made a really good chicken sandwich. I wish I had gotten the spiciest level though; the medium barely had a kick to it. I also feel like if I hadn't gotten the tamarind chutney, the flavors would have been lacking a bit of tangy sweetness. The street salad was just ok. Felt like a big mush of diced vegetables, without any super distinct flavors or textures. Wasn't super refreshing either because of all the seasoning added. I wish I had gone with the masala fries; I saw someone else with them, and they seemed super crispy and fresh. Overall, really good spot, would recommend giving it a go! read more

Was walking to Penn Station to catch the train home and ran into here. It totally caught my eye. Inside it's small but yet has a kick to it as for dinner I got it to go a 3 piece white meal bowl with a side of yoghurt and mint sauce. I would say it is a decent attempt to bring indian flavors to the hot chicken sandwich. The rowdy sandwich is very dry and does not have any creamy sauces like the hot chicken sandwiches. Walked by here before a class and decided to stop by after I couldn't stop thinking about what Indian fried chicken could taste like. Surprise-- it's delicious!!! The place is small but cute and colorful. Very much fast food. I ordered and within 3 minutes it was ready. I got a spicy Big Rowdy Sandwich and a street salad. The salad was so good not what I expected. Fun, different veg and had a creamy tangy sauce. The sandwich was phenomenal. Spice was less than I'd expect for Indian but still great. The pickled veg were a great edition, the bun was so soft and the chicken was nice and crispy and were 2 big pieces. 3.5 stars. Excited that they opened a location in midtown, which I can get to easier/quicker. I ordered the big rowdy sandwich, masala fries, and a mango lassi. They must often get asked the difference between the big and lil rowdy sandwiches because they have samples of the bread by the register. Lil bread is about half the size, think of a kings Hawaiian roll, and you get one piece of chicken instead of two. You can choose thigh or breast and the spice level. I went with medium, which took some getting used to. I have mixed feelings about the sandwich though. Loved the flavoring but the chicken was heavily breaded and with the roll I didn't feel like I was eating much chicken. The fries were my favorite. I LOVED the mustard, which was recommended by the employee as the sauce to get with them. The mango lassi was good. I've never had it before so I have no point of comparison. This place was WAY BETTER than I expected! I got the sandwich at the medium spice level (there are only three levels) & it was the perfect level for a good kick but also tasting & enjoying the food. You get an option between white & dark meat, I chose dark & it was so juicy! They put two of their tenders on the sandwich, it's not a patty. It's also quite messy to eat but they do give you wet wipes for your hands. The fries are just sliced potatoes with seasoning but are really good. What I ordered: Combo with chicken sandwich, fries, and lassi & side of chicken bites What I got: Chicken salad bowl The receipt stapled to the delivery bag had the correct order, but completely wrong item within. Not a single item I ordered was in the bag. For a restaurant that only sells 5 different things, to mess that up so badly is truly astounding. If they can't take enough care to put the right order in the right bag, what else are they cutting corners on? Also: There is no way to reach the restaurant to rectify the order. No number, nothing. I'm a big fan of the OG Rowdy Rooster location in East Village and was excited to see a new location pop up by Penn Station! I ordered the Original Sandwich (level 3 spicy). The sandwich is definitely pretty small for $10, it was basically a small snack for me. To be full, I'd probably have to eat 2 sandwiches and fries which is kinda expensive. Luckily, the taste made up for it! I really enjoyed the flavors of the sandwich and how crunchy the chicken was, though the spice level was a mild at best. The spice levels here are so tame compared to the OG location. Maybe it was a fluke when I came? But I'd definitely want the level 3 spicy here to match the level 3 in EV. read more

Heard so much about Rowdy Rooster and finally made it here. We came on a weekday for dinner and it wasn't too crowded, we were able to grab a seat. There are also standing room for a quick bite as well. The place was so adorable! Everything was so colorful and the walls and even the ceiling was decorated with colorful roosters. Our cashier was really helpful in helping us decide what to get bc it's our first time here. She said the thigh meat was better in the sandwich and indeed it was one of the best chickens I have ever had. It was so crispy but so tender on the inside. Loved the sandwiches so much bc it was full of Indian spices too! The mango lassi was amazing, definitely comparable to any sit-down Indian restaurant. We also had a hard time deciding what sauce to get and she gave us a complimentary sauce in addition to the one we bought, so we got to try both sesame yogurt and mint chutney, which were both delicious! I had the dry rub fire(their spiciest option) dark meat fried chicken as recommended by the staff as I was only there for the chicken. Perfectly crispy, enough heat as I eat spicy (def not eye watering or nose clearing if looking for really spicy), interesting and delicious Indian spice(not curry) and very juicy. 3 pieces was perfect amount of chicken for lunch. The fries looked good but the chicken sandwiches looked great! An array of sauces to choose from. I didn't order a sauce and they do charge for them but the counter person walked over as I was eating and gave me a complimentary mint sauce that he felt would go really well with the Fire chicken. That's not typical at a "fast food" establishment nor is the friendly manager who wanted to make sure everything was good. The ambiance is like a small fast food establishment with just a few tables but a long standing counter and the place is spotless! This unassuming place, located smack dab in the middle of njt and the path train had some of the best fried chicken I've ever had. I went in on a whim and I'm so glad I did. The cashier asked if it was my 1st time, which it was, and proceeded to tell me about their best seller which happened to be the rowdy sandwich. On the counter there are samples for sizing purposes only to differentiate between the little and the big rowdy sandwich. I'm not going to lie, I was not impressed.
