    Spicy margarita

This place is ADORABLE. We sat outside on the patio, and it was picture perfect. The lights with the old oak trees feel almost magical. The food was soooo good too. We enjoyed the shrimp and grits and the shrimp creole. Both were so delicious, but the shrimp creole was our favorite. We also enjoyed the spicy margarita.

By now, this has become my fave restaurant near Edisto Island... More than anything, I love their patio scene...usually complete with live music on weekends. They don't take reservations though, so that's a bit of a bummer. It's Southern-American foods, but the foods here definitely aren't bland. I LOVE their spicy Red Rice, for instance! Also their Crab Cake appetizers were quite spicy too. My husband and I had the Seafood Platters, and my son had the Pulled Pork.and we all loved what we ordered. Definitely plan on returning!

The staff are very friendly and have great service. The crab soup was delicious. The fried shrimp and grilled shrimp Caesar salad was scrumptious. To end the night with the coconut cake and two layer chocolate cake. Everything was amazing!

Great local spot across from the Edisto. You'll enjoy cozy country music, a full bar, and crowd pleasing southern comfort dishes. If you like seafood, this is your place. We had some killer Brussels sprouts smothered in the most decadent sauce. I highly recommend those to start, and the wedge salad or Shrimp Po Boy sandwich. The aesthetic is rustic with indoor and outdoor seating.

I love Roxbury Mercantile. The ambience is rustic and quaint and the food is absolutely delicious. Although it is very busy during the summer months and sometimes on the weekends, the service is always excellent once seated. My favorite appetizers are the Hot Rox Shrimp : Chili-lime adobo seasoned & sautéed in hot sauce. It's a must try ! I also recommend the Crispy Brussel Sprouts ; they're flash fried and tossed in honey sriracha. My absolute favorite entree here is the Cheshire Heritage Pork Chop : bone-in, sweet tea brined and hickory smoked, finished with Roxbury Gold glaze ....ahhhhmazing !! Just order it ! The restaurant also offers a small Gift Shop area near the restrooms. On my last visit, I picked up a unique book that was both a cookbook and history book of the area. They also sell T-shirts, honey, and other food products. Check them out! Roxbury Mercantile is worth the drive from Charleston.

We had an amazing dinner here on July 23, 2025. We had a party of 7 and every single meal was an amazing. The majority came from California but have been coming to Edisto for 30+ years and this as one of the best meals we have had hands down. The Grits...OMG, ***chefs kisses****. It was exactly the low country food we were craving. The staff was phenomenal, friendly and attentive. Thank you!!! PS, they have an amazing place for pictures out front...

I am so glad we made the trek out to Meggett to check out this scenic and fairly priced restaurant. We were a bit disappointed that there wasn't live music as we were told the musician was sick. Our waitress was wonderful and provided us with her top recommendations on the menu. I ordered the fried shrimp platter while my boyfriend ordered the pulled pork platter. The fried shrimp was perfectly breaded and seasoned. The size of the shrimp was quite large. I enjoyed my side salad served with ranch dressing. The mac n cheese was just ok. We decided to split the coconut cake for dessert and I'm so thankful we did. It was perfection! Moist, not too rich and one of the best coconut cakes I have ever tasted! I will definitely be back for the shrimp and coconut cake! Yum!

We found this gem last year on our vacation and we took our daughter and her family there. They could not believe how good the food was and their kids had so much fun playing with all the games outside. I don't care if you have to drive 17 mins from Edisto beach it is SO WORTH IT!! The staff is so nice too!!

Mac n cheese is great, but very VERY small portion, bummer.

Randomly stopped here on the way to Edisto Beach. Blown away by the ultra unique variety of bourbons. Service was excellent, ambiance was excellent. Buttered bourbon Shrimp and Grits top notch, a very unique flavorful twist on a southern staple. Shrimp and fish tacos, equally excellent.

Small parking spaces so you would have to rely on street parking on busier days however I was lucky to park behind the restaurant on a Wednesday evening. Service was excellent! Let's talk about the food! I ordered a 3 meat combo: Brisket, Pork Ribs, and Pulled Pork. My favorite was the brisket however I wish it was sliced not chopped nevertheless it was tasty. The Pork ribs were delicious as well but I wish it was more tender. Pulled pork was nicely seasoned but not my personal preference of meats however it was my first time so I had to get a little taste of everything. I will definitely be back to try their brisket sandwich! The sides: Collard Greens, Mac & Cheese, and Cornbread that all come with the combo. I enjoyed these sides as they hit what southern sides are all about. No problem there!

This year we were able to snag a reservation for the four of us at 4pm on a Wednesday. I was so excited to try this buffet. Yes, it is a little pricey, but I was ready to indulge and make the price point worth it! We got there about 5 minutes early and we were let right in. The kids were given a scavenger hunt where they had to find turtles with letters on them and then unscramble the word. That was very cute and kept them busy for a bit. I went right over to the oyster section where fresh oysters were brought over to high top tables. A lovely worker taught me how to properly shuck an oyster and I felt like a pro. The oysters were DELICIOUS, and I made sure to eat as much as I could as I am the only family member who eats them. The rest of the family spent their time at the BBQ section. I did as well. I had the salad, corn muffins, ribs, roasted chicken, dirty rice (which was A+), and so much more! Oh and I also had the seafood boil. The food is good, but to be honest - with all the other delicious spots for this kind of food in the area it was just not up to that standard. Also, the dessert section was lacking. Mostly pre-made desserts with a little ice cream cart. The kids loved it, but it was just kind of meh for me. I do have to say - I am SO glad we did it. I think it was a great experience. The views were amazing. The whole idea is so very fun. The live entertainment was great. And the staff went above and beyond. It's probably a once in a lifetime thing we will do and that's fine by me! Thank you to the staff and everyone who made Mingo Point Oyster Roast and BBQ a fun experience for me and my family.

I ordered the 1/2 honey fried chicken w/ mac & cheese and collard greens. For dessert, we shared pecan pie. The chicken was moist & delicious from being brined and seasoning in the batter. The batter was crunchy, and perfectly applied so you didn't bite into a hunk of just batter. Likewise, the sides were some of the best I had during my trip to SC. Lastly, the pecan pie was really good also. However, I was expecting a bigger & taller slice. Regarding the ambiance, its smart casual here. The decor is fancier vs the down home cooking. My friend said the tomato pie was really good but it's all cheese and tomatoes. The fried green tomatoes were crispy but needed seasoning. They were incredibly bland. For the main dish she ordered the smash burger and I ordered the fish and grits. She took one bite of the smash burger and sent it back saying it tasted like a frozen burger you'd get at Walmart. The fish and grits were ok. They too were bland and needed salt. A LOT of salt or any other seasoning. The okra, Lima beans and corn that come in this dish also tasted like it came out of a frozen bag. There is no seasoning in this dish whatsoever. Unfortunately this place was a miss and we won't be returning. Also the bathrooms look like a porta potty. You know the cheap plastic that porta potties are made out of? Yeah that's what the stalls are made out of. It looks so cheap and a big contrast from the rest of the restaurant. The staff was nice but they also look like they hate working here.
