Lets start with ambience, chairs and booth seats are torn, dust and grime everywhere.(Gordon would not be pleased). If its this bad in the dining area, can only imagine the kitchen. Service is obviously incredibly slow. 15 minutes to be seated which isnt bad. The wait for food at this moment has been almost an hour and a half. So, ordered an omelet with hashbrowns and a side of biscuits and sausage gravy. Omelet wasnt bad, hard to mess up. Hashbrowns were not the buisness, tasted like it was reheated from leftovers. Sausage gravy.. sausage was way over cooked in the gravy which is odd. The gravy was good and buscuit wasnt bad. All in all, I would still not recommend this place to anyone. I know San Angelo doesnt have a lot to offer when it comes to breakfast but try something else. You'll thank me. read more

A sub-par diner in West Texas. We stopped here on a road trip and the first thing we noticed was how busy it was inside, so it must be a great place, no? Getting a table was chaotic. First the hostess said it would be 10 minutes, then it was pointed out that a table was open, so we were seated. The menu was fairly basic and I was disappointed to see no fruit or veggie items. No fresh fruit or anything for breakfast? I settled for hash browns and they weren't too good. Half burnt and entirely flavorless. My friend didn't finish his meal either. The inside decor was cheesy flare from the 1950s. Retro, yes, but that was about the only "charm" we could find. I once lived and worked in San Angelo. I posted a negative comnrnt about this restaurant. The owner tried to get me fired from my job because of a negative post. I had to retract the comment or lose my job. So tell me... why would you eat at a place with a person that does this? It really wasn't even a negative comment. It was constructive criticism. But Roxie flew off the handle and called my boss. What a complete jerk! Now that im retired and not afraid of a job loss I can tell the truth.... Horrible people, so so food and back then a rude waitress. Reality bites Lady. You cant treat people like a whipping post because you cant take a critical poet. We stopped at this diner on a road trip that took us across Texas. I liked the atmosphere of this cozy Texas diner, but my husband and I felt uncomfortable that there was no distancing, no masks among the wait staff, and only some customers wore masks while waiting in line to get a table. The place was packed, and if you're trying to avoid Covid, I caution you to stay away. That said the food was pretty good. Was it spectacular? No. But, it was diner comfort food and tasted plenty good to make the stop feel worthwhile. I had the cheese & veggie omelet, and it definitely seemed fresh. The grits tasted a little off, which is strange for a Texas diner, in my native Texan opinion. The biscuit and pancakes were surely Bisquick, which I actually like for a biscuit but not so much for pancakes, which were dry. One of my kids ordered a junior cheeseburger and fries, and she was satisfied. Her older teenage sister ordered eggs and pancakes. She gobbled up the eggs but only ate one of the dry chocolate chip pancakes. My husband and son polished off their breakfasts of eggs, hash browns, and sausage, so I know they were happy with their meals. The food took a while to get to us - a notable while - and that can be somewhat frustrating when you've got many hours left to drive. Would I plan to make a stop and eat here again? Probably not until we've received our second dose of vaccine and Covid is really on the decline and not just plateaued. Since it will probably be six months or a year before we take a similar trip, this could be on our list of stops, but I wouldn't go out of our way. Shout out to the nice ladies who work here, though. We came here for breakfast after staying at Quality Inn. They give hotel guests a modified menu. This was 1 of the WORST hotel breakfasts I've ever had and I have stayed at a lot of hotels! This was not worth getting out of bed for, we should have slept in! We would have been better off at McDonald's and we don't even like their breakfast. Looking at the menu, I was already concerned because the meals do not seem to be complete. Who gets full on 1 pancake and 1 piece of sausage? The pancake was horrible! It was very dense and had the texture of foam rubber. It tasted like flour and sugar...no buttermilk used in this recipe! I couldn't cut it with a fork, I had to rip it apart. I couldn't eat it. The sausage was good and a little spicy, but it was such a small little piece. The bacon was okay, not great quality, but at least there were 2 pieces. It was also cooked crispy. The scrambled eggs seemed really small for 2 eggs. They were good, but not seasoned. The toast was Texas toast, 1 piece of bread cut in half. The drinks are served in toddler sized cups and there are no refills. They bring them to you right after you order, so my kids needed to get water to drink with their meals. My milk was slightly warm since I saved it to have my 2 sips with my meal. A diner should be able to get pancakes right and the portions are too small. So now we are off for breakfast "take 2". At least the hotel has coffee in the lobby! Very unsatisfying! Wish we had just slept in! read more

I've eaten here twice now. First time I had a traditional two egg breakfast. I chose to have it with a biscuit and hash browns. The hash browns were pretty bland. They were crispy, but flavorless. The biscuit and eggs were great. The price was incredibly affordable. The second go-around, I had huevos rancheros and home fries. The home fries are the way to go here. Perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The Spanish sauce with the eggs was excellent. The prices are great, and the food is solid for a diner. Great for breakfast. Haven't tried lunch yet. The staff is friendly and conversational. I'll definitely keep coming back. read more

First time eating at Roxie's Diner and it was for breakfast. They greeted us immediately and we were seated in a booth. The seats could used some replacing as they used gorilla/masking tape to cover and patch up holes and damaged areas in the seat. Other than the seat, the environment/ambiance of the diner was enjoyable with an "oldies" themed atmosphere. My 16 y.o. son ordered scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns and pancakes. The pancakes were hard to cut, bacon and eggs were nothing special and hash browns were hard and chewy. I ordered the veggie omelet with hash browns and bacon on the side. The veggie omelet was definitely one of the better omelets I've had in a while. It wasn't runny, there was enough filling and they used real eggs and not egg beaters; the bacon was good but the hash browns were hard and chewy as well. Overall, the people were kind, friendly and personable but spent more time talking to their regular customers than tending to the needs of their new ones. It took 15 mins to get our overall-average food. Still on the search for a good breakfast place to have my weekly father and son breakfast. read more

Well, I have lived in San Angelo for a long time and been to this place on many occasions. Back then I never had anything to complain about but recently things have not been as good as they used to be. In the last month the wait times have been pretty heavy as usual (popular spot) but now they seem to be for the wrong reason. Over the course of two weeks both times we have gone have taken 1 hour or more to get our food (no joke, timed it based on when my phone reports my car was parked and subtracting our wait time) which for breakfast plates is ridiculous even with how busy it is. It has never been this slow and even 2 months ago when we went as a family and the place was packed our food came out in 15-20 minutes tops. Waitresses are nice, however both last trips we have to flag someone down to get refills after 30 minutes in waiting for food just for more coffee and tea. Last problem is the portion sizes. Man they have been shrinking last couple of years but now they feel too small in many cases. The plates almost seem empty when getting the "Hungry Jack" which seems to be their biggest breakfast (heck I'm left hungry at the end). Had the Huevos Rancheros recently and it is still great, salsa was tasty, sauce was good, but I only got 1 tortilla and the most minuscule cup of salsa. But again food quality was very tasty. Like I said, food is still good but the portion have shrunk, service was non existent after 25-30 minutes, and wait times for food are ridiculous. Something is going on because the last month has just been ridiculous. Won't be returning as of now because we can't be waiting over an hour and a half to eat breakfast. read more

When you start your day out with Breakfast at Roxie's, you're setting yourself up for success. Today is my day off, and needed something to fuel me before I head out sheep hunting around San Angelo. I ordered the two egg plate, which came with hashbrowns and toast. The scrambled eggs were fantastic and the toast crispy but not burned. A lot of places will burn hashbrowns to where it's like eating potato chips, but Roxie's kept my potatoes nice and soft. But my favorite part of this dining experience.... Was the service. The staff was super friendly, cognizant of my coffee levels and incredibly courteous. As a new resident of San Angelo, I am glad I found Roxie's. Easy to get to from Goodfellow, they offer military discount, and not too far from downtown. Next time, I'm bringing friends. read more

Hamburger was huge and tasty, get it served with brown gravy and grilled onions! Eggs were made to order. Home fries needs salt or ketchup, but good after that. This is a nice small diner atmosphere. Im not sure if the hell had called in sick, but the service was extremely slow. This is the place you go to if you have 2 hours to spare and you just want ti hang out. If you are passing thru for a quick bite, then move on. Also the food was luke warm to cold when we got it. The soft butter never melted on the pancakes and you had to swallow the cold eggs quickly. The bacon did not have it's normal taste either. It could have been the day or someone not showing up for work, but life is too short and there were too make negatives to go back there. read more

Very solid breakfast, I had a short stack of some of the fluffiest pancakes I've had, three over easy eggs which were cooked to my expectations, a couple strips of thick and crispy bacon, very good home fries, and a cup of grits. Everything was great service was awesome, staff was very nice and comforting. The menu is basic for a diner but what more would you want? Pricing is completely fair. And the atmosphere is very laid back and it's not so loud that you can't enjoy your meal over a nice conversation. Kitschy Diner goodness! Passing through San Angelo this little diner caught our attention. We stepped into a time warp as soon as we cross the threshold. The pink walls and posters of Elvis and all things 50's! The place is small -maybe 20 tables. We were seated immediately and I'm not gonna lie- I saw the pie display and damn near drooled. The chocolate meringue pie looked like a mouthgasm waiting to happen!!!!! Anyway, our server was on top of it and incredibly sweet. My mom and I ordered omelettes and my husband ordered chicken fried steak. We received our correct orders quickly. The omelettes were decent sized and definitely tasted like they were cooked in butter (hells yes!!). My husband was impressed with the fresh cooked (not frozen) chicken fried steak and gravy. My mom loved her side of biscuit and gravy! I tasted the buttery, rich biscuit and wish I had room for one of my own!
