Located in downtown Martinez, came here on a Tuesday afternoon just for drinks, we sat outside and it was pretty cozy inside with nice bathrooms. The servers were very friendly and there was a wide variety of drinks and fairly priced. We got about 2 rounds of drinks for about $12-$15 a cocktail. I asked what was popular and I think the got the Pink Eddy-- which had elderflower liqueur, and then their Roxx-O-Rita which was their Margarita. My friend got their Hemingway and their Vermont Pig Old Fashioned which came with candied bacon. I think they had a wide variety of cocktails and were pretty strong and a nice spot to just chill around downtown Martinez. Parking isn't hard either because there's plenty of street parking. Let's start with the stars 's I'd add a half a star to my 2, but the Yelp system doesn't allow me to, so 3 s it is. Let this be a warning .... We opted to just give this place a try as we have heard very mixed reviews from folks who live locally; then I saw it on 'Check Please' & hubby insisted on going down to try their veggie burger of sorts and of course the kiddo came along as well. Given it was a week day their patio seating was very limited, unlike what you'll find on a Friday or Saturday night when we've walked bye. But give the heat we opted to eat inside. We started with drinks all around, glass of wine, 2 signature drinks that turned into 3 as one got sent back. So the kiddo first ordered the 'Lumiere' - was supposed to be gin with elderflower liqueur dash of orange bitters and ... plus a garnish of mint & lime; no garnish & the drink tasted almost solely of lime juice, in short it was sent back for something else. The something else was also lacking, half was left behind. I tried the Roxx-o-Rita, tequila, strawberry & kiwi, shaken, it was okay. Onto the appetizer: Hubby ordered the: Italian Style Antipasto platter - artichoke hearts, roasted peppers, supposed to have marinated mushrooms - none were on the platter, pickled carrots - not so pickled, salami thickly sliced, maybe prosciutto? And don't forget the focaccia bread, nicely done. Onto the mains: we ordered: the grilled portobello mushroom & seasonal sammie, Roxx house made Astounding veggie burger & one special of the crab grilled sammie, sides were tater tots & 2 Caesar salads. Hubby was impressed with their veggie burger stating it had good flavors- the side salad was over dressed, but doable. The kiddo had the grilled portobello & seasonal veggie sammie - she said it was "okay" her tater tots were greatly lacking, as in from a box to the oven to her plate, meh. I tried the special of the crab sammie with melted cheese, avocado & tomato with side salad. The sammie overall was okay, a little less greasy on the bread would be nice. The salad was over dressed yet doable. For $27.00 for a crab sammie I expected much better, could just be me, but I don't think so. Lesson learned - 'Check Please' doesn't have the same food expectations that I do. Wait staff was pleasant enough. read more

Amazing food. Local shops nearby, live music, and outdoor dining on weekends. The grilled cheese sandwich is an experience one will not soon forget. The double-cut porkchop is outstanding. Does not matter what you order, you will not be disappointed. read more

We finally tried Roxx on Main and it did not disappoint! A small, quaint restaurant located on Main Street with a vast menu to choose from. We came for a linner on Sat at 3p (they open at 2p). My son ordered a burger, my daughter had the flat iron steak, hubs had the flat iron steak sandwich with clam chowder, and I had the crab melt with caesar salad. We also had the brussel sprouts and a drink, X rated lemonade. The drink was good, the brussel sprouts were so good! I don't usually like brussel sprouts but I was told these are amazing and they were! We got them extra crispy! So delicious! Everyone enjoyed their meals. My crab melt was freaking delicious and crispy, amazing! Best I've had so far and the caesar salad was so good too! Everything was so fresh and piping hot. I was so stuffed but had to get dessert. The kids got the s'mores (everything homemade, the graham cracker, marshmallow) and the crème brûlée was so creamy and to die for! Omg everything was so good we couldn't be happier. Our server Riann was amazing too!!! This gem is such a great find, so glad we made the trek out to Martinez. read more

BEST THING ABOUT JURY DUTY! What? With an hour and a half for lunch I headed out...searching for lunch. My travels ended at Roxx. I ordered the Portabello sandwich to go. WHAT A TREAT!!:) An awesome combination of specialty bread, grilled veggies and a wonderful Portabello! Delicious! A side of tater tots had their own box in my order to go. Yum! Full disclosure: I'm a musician who plays monthly at Roxx, and I already knew one of the owners. I came here on my own time and spent my own money before I started gigging here. Roxx has unusually good food. The executive chefs have French training but much of the food is comfort food (tater tots, for example, also Patty Melts, pork chops, etc.) The service is not fancy, but the ingredients are so good that their salads have a real burst of flavor from fresh produce. They have vegetarian and I believe also vegan menu items if that's more your thing. Martinez has developed a night life, and there are now a bunch of brewpubs, restaurants, etc worth checking out. You might want to check their music calendar first to see if the music fits your tastes, by the way. Or eat before the band starts/ music there is 7-9, and they don't serve food after about 8:45 pm. read more

What a more than pleasant surprise ! We came here because of an article we read about the music and food scene in Martinez. Fortunately, our experienced far surpassed our expectations. We were so happy to find quality live music and could hear other live music in other areas. This has unfortunately become something we had taken for granted that just all but disappeared in the pandemic. We are so grateful when restaurants go to the trouble to have have music that we wholeheartedly support these places. On to the even better part was their food which was outstanding! Their wild salmon was perfect, their pork chop sumptuous which was butter tender. The entire establishment had a professional and personable staff which we really appreciated. Visited for lunch with a friend on a whim. The food was good but the service was fantastic.

Excellent lunch for two of us today!! We each had the Chinese Chicken Salad with iced tea. The had ice water with lemon on the table in a carafe. The salad was exceptional! Perfectly dressed, crispy, chock full of greens and grilled chicken. For dessert we shared the coconut bread pudding which was topped with a mix of fresh berries, raspberry sauce and whipped cream- outstanding! We ended our meal with a lovely pot of lemon ginger tea. The staff were each welcoming and we met the owner who inquired how we found everything. We ate inside and the ambiance is comfortable and homey. We will be back!! read more

This place is a gem in this quaint town. The food is fresh, well balanced, and delicious. The service is great and the atmosphere is quaint and intimate. There is a little outdoor dining area that was perfect as we trained our new puppy. On a nice warm day, it's nice to site outdoors and take in the people and scenery of this cute town. A friend in Richmond recommended coming out to Martinez & trying one of Roxx's fabulous burgers. We took a friend out for late lunch. Turned out we were able to order entrees from the dinner menu because the kitchen had the sides prepared. So 2 of us ordered the steak with cooked greens & mushrooms, the other ordered salmon. And we shared a side of delicious roasted Brussels sprouts. It was well worth our drive from West County. Next time I want to try the pork. PS: restroom clean & non gender specific. read more

This is a great place to grab lunch while in Martinez. I met a friend for a quick lunch before returning to court. I had a crab Louie salad. There was plenty of fresh Dungeoness crab on it. There was about half an avocado sliced on top. There was just enough dressing. The waitress was very friendly and helpful. She was attentive but not pushy. She was wearing a mask. The tables are cleaned before and after each party. They had hand sanitizer available on all the tables. read more

What a great restaurant. My waitress was amazing. The food was amazing. I got a cheeseburger made with Alhambra Valley beef and it was amazing. Super local and super delicious. I had the focaccia bread with oil and vinegar that was lemon flavored. Very good. Salad that went with the burger was superb. Great vibes in here. Woman owned business which is great. I came back to this place tonight because the burger is ALWAYS good but I wanted to try something different so I asked the waitress her opinion between the salmon and the chicken. She recommended the salmon and I'm so happy I listened to her, it was so crispy but juicy. The greens and the sauce was so delicious and the service is always so friendly. Please be patient with staffing as it is noted around the restaurant they are short staffed and hiring! They had more tables set out in the streets than usual tonight. I didn't get to stay for the music but I will one of these nights! Highly recommend this place, as always! read more

Went in for lunch yesterday. Took over an hour to receive overcooked salmon. The special described was not what I received. When placing my order I also ordered a meal to go - that never showed up. The lunch took almost 2 hours. My guest had to leave. It wasn't even crowded. It seemed like the server was knowledgeable and really trying. Don't know what was going on in the back. Ordered a Chinese Chicken Salad to go. Arrived to a full house, a good sign but little true competition for upscale food downtown. Loud. And then there's a guitar duo blasting away and singing. Really loud. Forget convo. Their concept of dinner music needs re-thinking. The salad? Not so great. They forgot the crispy noodles. Oops. Other veggies were not abundant for $22. Chicken was fine. Our first time in 2024. The crab sandwich with fries/tater tots was GREAT. I could not finish it at dinner but ate last 1/2 for breakfast. Crab! The breakfast of champions. No way is this rating accurate! This place is horrible! I ate here a year ago with my wife and we couldn't remember why we hadn't eaten here since, until tonight. Oh ya their food is horrible! All of us had bad meals, from the overly sugared bread, to the really bad wine selection. The food is way over priced and so sauced it's just horrible. From the pasta Gemala which is 80% frozen vegetables with some cheap pasta to their pork chop which is just drowned in sauce and bland. All is bad, just nasty. Also watch out on the wine! They're ripping everyone off here! We ordered the McGrail 2016 for $59 (their best wine) supposedly. What we got was a smoke tainted 2020 McGrail that was sold through the wine auction houses from the insurance companies (major difference in price from a 2016 to a tainted 2020). Let's back up here a min, we all remember 2020 fire season, most wineries dumped their wine and some tried to go to bottle but realized it was bad so triggered insurance, who made them whole and bought all their wine. Now the insurance companies can sell their wine through auction houses and major discount house hence grocery outlet and others, now Roxx's. Now take a look at Roxx's wine list, 95% are insurance wines! Trust me I'm in the insurance mitigation industry so I understand it. These are throw away wines they are trying to pass off as 2016's and others but watch their labels, their all 2020 (basically fraud here), they're relying on most people not paying attention or knowing. When i confronted the bar tender he said "oh we just ran out and got these cases in, I'll have to update the list". Judging by how high he was I'm not sure it's getting updated anytime soon. Either way this restaurant would have gone out if it wasn't for their live music. Who brings in great local people to eat their horrible food, drink their nasty wine and listen to their great music. So many other choices in Martinez to try, trust me try them first. Even taco daddy's would have been better and that's freaking tacos. Roxx! Step it up, you have a great location no reason to have the worst wine list in Martinez and the sauciest food. Time to hire a new chef or fire yourself as CEO if you're making these bad decisions! Enjoyed a nice lunch out front here as I waited for Jury Duty. My server was super nice and bubbly. I hate that I can't recall her name. None the less the food was decent. I enjoyed the homemade foccacia bread and lemon olive oil. Burger was decent..and the fruit crisp dessert was just OK. All in all I'd come back and try another dish. read more

As a newbie resident of Martinez, I decided to join the app 'Nextdoor' and see what good ole downtown Martinez has to offer. During this pandemic, neighbors have reached out to one another, donated item needed, volunteered in many ways and offered various good deeds to help us all get through this together. I ran across a post that was sponsored by the Chamber of Martinez, that offered a free meal if needed and all you had to do was give your address so they can check your residency. There were a number of restaurants participating and I chose Roxx's to dine at. They emailed me a $50 voucher to print out and take to the restaurant. I went on a Friday evening where they had music playing. Dining was outside due to the Covid restrictions. I started with a cocktail called the Love Potion. It was delicious and refreshing. I then ordered the Crab Melt minus the avocado and tomato. Fresh crab meat, toasted buttery bread. I chose the salad as my side.All in all, the meal was tasty, the atmosphere was nice, the wait staff was courteous and attentive. I went back again recently and reordered the same exact thing with addition to the shrimp cocktail. Nice sized shrimp served with a lemon and cocktail sauce. There are many good quality restaurants in Martinez. Roxx's is one of them that I recommend. read more

This has to be the one time I didn't take my phone out to capture pictures of my meal lol so not 2022 of me! Went for a work lunch trip on a Friday as soon as they opened (11:00AM) - which thank goodness we had reservations because they were packed shortly there after. We started off with their complimentary bread with dipping oil & vinegar, very tasty! We then ordered some appetizers, shrimp cocktail and the chicken meatball sliders - both were amazing! The sliders were HUGE lol so if you think you are getting these as a small app - they are not! Two of us had the Roxx Caeser with grilled prawns - BEST Caeser salad I've had to date! Soooo tasty! The other had the special of the day which was clam chowder. Unfortunately she wasn't as happy as we were with our salads (it was runny and the potatoes in it were HUGE lol so definite room for improvement there). Service was a little slow but the ladies were quite delightful so no biggie there! I would definitely like to come back and explore some more of their menu! read more

I arrived on a Friday evening at around 7 pm asking for a table for two. Sadly, I was treated very rudely by an inhospitable Hostess. It felt like racial profiling though she herself was Brown. I was with my partner to have dinner and asked to put my name on a waiting list. The Hostess flat out said "No, we don't have any tables. The kitchen is small & we're busy." When I asked if there was a wait and she said, "There are no tables at all. SORRY." Meanwhile there was a small, open table on the deck and the inside bar was also open. This is precisely the kind of behavior that is baffling to me in this place and age. Power trip anyone? read more
