I went into Roxy's because I needed a gel manicure for an upcoming wedding and the salon was nearby my apartment. I saw the bad reviews on yelp but decided to venture in anyway. While I can't speak to how long my nails will last because I just got them done I was pleased with the cost and the way they look! She did exactly what I was looking for and they turned out pretty great. I ended up getting a matching pedicure as well. The only reason I gave four stars instead of five is that I'm waiting to see how long they last. I'll update this post when I know. UPDATE: I'm keeping the four stars because the nails started to chip after a little over a week. In all fairness, I am pretty rough with my nails (I wash dishes daily and go to the gym multiple times a week etc.) I prefer my nails to last at least two weeks, so next time I'm going to ask for three coats instead of two. Great place for an infection! The woman giving me a manicure took a big chunk out of my finger. She gave a half-assed apology as my finger started bleeding pretty heavily. She then started handling money another manicurist was giving her for change and went right back to my hands without gloves or washing her hands. The place is dirty anyway and I should have walked out when my finger wouldn't stop bleeding. So that's on me. Now my finger is inflamed and infected. And to top it off, the manicure was terrible and it wasn't even cheap. My nails are all splintered and I had to finish it myself so my nails didn't catch on my clothes. read more

I went to Roxy several months ago and the pedicurist made me bleed. The manicure was average but chipped quickly. I recently learned that Roxy's manager will refuse to serve men with their nails painted. This is highly problematic and I will never return. read more

I normally come to this nail salon because typically they do good nails. Tonight was a DISASTER! I got there @6 and was taken at 6:05 and was done at 8:33!!!! That lady took 2 1/2 hours to do a full set with gel with two finger design. She glued my fingers together didn't file off the acrylic and kept complaining because originally i wanted 4 nails. She asked me if i didn't want the price i said no because last time I did it it was $90. Clearly telling was frustrated i said forget it just do two nails and she charged me $90!!!!!!! Let me start off by saying I like and look for really detailed reviews so this review will be just that. I came across this place looking for a Dominican hair salon ( which is located on the corner). I came in for a mani + pedi as I'm leaving in two days for vacation. Once I walked in I pulled up reviews and notice they had mostly bad review, however I was already in the chair and decided to take a chance. Let's start off with atmosphere. When I walked in I was greeted within a couple mins and ask what I wanted done. I only waited about five mins or so. It's a small salon with Four pedi chair located in the back. They have six mani chair located in the front. It's not fancy looking small bench to wait on and not that many color options ( I would recommend bringing your own color) I'm super picky when it comes to color. They have Essie and OPI as well as the cheaper brands. It was 88 degrees when I went and it was pretty cool inside which I was glad I hate hot nail salons. Now on to the service. For my pedi I had a Spanish women who was pleasant. She wasn't rude or overly nice. The water for the pedi was warm not as hot as I've had it at other places (which to me didn't matter). She did a very good job on my pedi. She didn't rush or move to slow her pace was perfect. She was very detailed making sure I had no polish on the side and everything was neat. I wore my own sandals (they charge $2 for flip flops) and they don't use those foam toe separate things they just use tissue (which to me was fine cause I throw them away anyways and they hurt my feet personally) For my nails I got full set for $20. The same women who did my toes did my nails as well. I believe her name is Nicole. She did a great job with my nails I even accidentally tap it against the desk and she redid the whole nail for me. Love how they came out! Now for the prices that's the most important to me. Below is a list of all there prices. I paid 38(before tip) for everything which I thought was a good price. They did a really terrible job on my gel nails. They went all on my cuticles. Which if you know anything about how to do it properly the polish can't touch the cuticle at all. They did not do the edges which makes helps make them last. My nails Are now literally peeling up and breaking now after four days. I kept asking questions about it lasting and she said oh "no problem no problem no problem it last it last lady." well four days is not an acceptable amount of time of the last thing in my book...... I don't even feel the need to tell you how poorly they treated me when I went back in on the fourth day. Every time I come here for a gel manicure I have a broken nail or the paint is already peeling after a couple days or only one week and of course it's a no refund policy place where they don't fix or re-do free of charge. The staff is nice but I don't think they use quality products or care about the fact people get gel for it to last AT LEAST two weeks. This is a small neighborhood shop, but the price you pay is worth what you get. I went as a walk in to a packed shop, but was out in an hour. I asked for a full set of acrylics, and for $25 I'm pretty happy with the result. There wasn't much about nail care but the aesthetics were great, the only issue i have is shaping is slightly bulky, but otherwise this is a good salon for a cheap set read more

So I decided to try Roxy. I must say I had a nice experience with the young lady who did my manicure. I had removed acrylics prior two days before in another salon, and they refused to do my mani( that's a whole other story). I met Vanessa who was very sweet and gentle when doing my manicure. She got right to it and I didn't have to direct her with how to properly paint my nails. Vanessa is the girllll. I love how she actually cares and how she is passionate about her job. I've done my nails with her three times. I loved each and every time. Last time I did my nails with her I let her choose what she wanted to do with my nails and I was looking for something out of my comfort zone, something really out there. She gave me hot pink nails with glitter. (I apply acrylics on top of my natural nail so i had a full long set of nails with this design). I don't really like hot pink but it looked so good on me and I'm glad I trusted her with my nails. I would come again whenever im back in New York. read more

Unfortunately my phone died and as I was looking for Vivians nails and sitting here now, I realized I'm in the wrong place. So far she's pretty thorough. Doesn't know what magazine means or massage but whatever. However, this place is disgusting. I mean it's so dirty that I'm contemplating taking my feet out of the water. I just cancelled my waxes. I literally saw someone drop a tool and just put it back on the shelf. Nothing is organized. Not even the nail polishes are displayed together, they're all over the store, in a pile. None of the colors are together, etc. I see mold on the ceiling. I think my feet are itchy now. Ugh. read more

This salon is not sanitary at all. I watched them not wipe a single thing down between pedicure treatments, tools are left out in the open, the floor is covered in nails and they tried to put my bare feet on the cushion with no paper towel or layer between it. I had to wait for about 15 minutes which was totally fine, and the customers/workers were lively and friendly. I have been going to this nail Salon and was introduced because of a friend. I live in the Bronx and I am a business person myself. I bypass tons of Nail Salons to go here. Lisa is very nice and patient and has since moved. Bobby and his wife are cool, but business is business. When I went today my nails were done by the owner and I also wanted a pedicure. I was surprise to find that no wanted to do my pedicure. Not because I don't give great tips, $3-5. But because I wanted a good job. I havent been in a while and because Lisa left I was contemplating whether I would return. But I did. So because no one wants to do a pedicure, I reporting the 5 manicurist that does nails. I'm also filing a complaint for the fungus that I received since I was going there, which I am taking medication to remove...one of the reasons I asked for a good job...I was encouraged by my doctor to place a plastic bag in the sink, because of the delicacy of my condition. Plus they don't have licenses and most may be undocumented. This is not how business is done. read more
