I never have a problem with the food. But today I'm pissed. I couldn't even finish speaking and she told me the total without asking if I wanted anything else. She gave me 2 of the same order when I asked for tenders and a sandwich. Then the lady at the window giving me my food. Acted like it killed her to give me honey mustard. I was surprised to see all of the bad reviews this RR has received. I have never had any bad experiences there the times I have gone. I have found that going inside runs much more efficiently than the drive through. I have also experienced the employees being short, impatient and unfriendly but I don't take it personally. Ok, I like Rog Rogers but this one was particularly well managed when my son and stopped in on a Sunday afternoon. Fresh "fixins", clean restaurant, proper staffing level, condiment bar fully stocked, and the food all fresh and perfectly cooked. I come here from time to time and currently am going in more often due to a change in my work schedule. So mostly it's mornings for me, but I've been here late at night as well as during different times of the day as long as the place has been open. Service here and the place, in general, is, in a word: Uneven. Some good, some not so good but OK overall. Some of the positives are the food, of course. The fried chicken is esp. good. Probably an RR thing. Roast beef sandwiches are always a plus and the roast beef sliders I do like. I've been coming in for breakfast and like the #1 platter with eggs, fried potatoes and bacon. About that, and what has me writing: Sometimes I get 3 slices of bacon and other times 4. It's a little thing, but it matters that I get 4. It's Bacon! I like mixing the sweet ice tea and lemonade and love that there's Old Bay available. They also have ice cream if you're interested. Not so great is the bacon or lack of. The employees can be hit-or-miss, which is not that unexpected considering this is a fast food place where teens to young adults with no real vested future in the place work. Still, too many times the customer service is lacking. I don't like that you cannot flush the urinals in the men's room and the WiFi can be hit or miss as well. Then there's....I guess his name is Kirk. Your "host". He's a peculiar guy who works the dining area greeting people. He can be seen as either wonderful or creepy. Clearly, there's something off about him, but he means well. Always has those mints. The flat screen TV is a nice touch but, like the place, inconsistent. Most of the time there's sports on and that's what I want. Overall this is a solid place to go to. If you like RR's then it's OK. But it's hardly a model franchise. The customer service here is absolutely atrocious!! How can it take so long to get food on a tray? They have to purposely slow things down to be this slow. This place isn't like McDonalds or Burger King. This is more like a Hardee's. A semi-fast food restaurant that "usually" makes food as we order it. Not make food before we order it. I've been here numerous times since it's pretty close to the church I go to. There are other great options nearby like Soretti's, Maiwand and Cuba De Ayer, but many of our church members aren't familiar with different cuisines. So we mostly go to Roy Rogers to eat and have a good time! :) I usually get their Double R burger with fries and their seasonal milkshake. The last time I went there was in October and got their Pumpkin spice milkshake which wasn't that great lol. But their burgers are pretty good and they have free refills of drinks, a small bar full of sauces, dressings, toppings and utensils. The workers there are friendly. At least they don't get in your way like other places. Cough McDonalds cough... There are many Ethnic cuisines around the area but if you're not open to any new cuisines then Roy Rogers is always a safe bet. read more

It was all the awesomeness I remember as a child. Must come back! There's a long line inside and out because everyone wants a piece of this Roy's right now. I believe it opened up about two weeks ago. The burgers came out faster than the chicken. The Fixin's Bar is still full of awesome freshness for your burger. Man, that really makes such a big difference. Being from MD, I am a loyal Roy Roger's cult member. My family and I would go to the one in Gaithersburg when the longing hit us, but this one is much closer! We came to celebrate our reunion with my older brother. Love this place! This was my first visit. I'm a big fan of Roy's and always stop by the restaurants in the Frederick area. At Burtonsville, the cashier was polite and the service was good. The food was good and up to Roy Roger standards. The restaurant décor was nice. Only downside is that the tables were dirty. It was around lunchtime so they really should of had someone going around doing some clean up. I'd probably visit this Roy's again read more

First impressions are important. I visited this location for the first time and trust and believe I will NOT be coming back. I went through the drive thru and the person taking my order was not pleasant at all. I ended up ordering a #12 and when I got the sandwich it had some "mysterious sauce" on it that didnt taste so great. So i went back through the drive thru to see if they can make it without the sauce. I pulled to the window and this guys attitude was just horrible, I didnt even want the food anymore. I took my refund and got food else where. I will say the cashier Kehinde was great. She greeted me with a smile, and when i came back to exchange the sandwich she didn't mind. read more

3 stars for the food, though more than once my roast beef sandwich was awfully dry, luckily the BBQ sauce more than made up for that. Fries are tasteless. BUT the fried chicken is always good, so good that they often run out but its worth the wait. Mac and cheese is amazing, and the fresh milkshakes are heaven. Staff is hit or miss, no in between. Either they act like they're there for a prison release program or the nicest people on the planet, no middle ground. Will continue to go though, only have to deal with the staff for a short while and the food is worth it more often than not. read more

5 stars only for the strawberry shortcake!!! OMGoodness! I have a sweet tooth at least 23 hours out of the day and I satisfy it often with a strawberry shortcake from here. The biscuit is always warm and the ice cream so yummy. I don't order anything else from here so I can't comment on the menu and I always use the drive-thru. I make my own shortcakes at home now because I was spending waayy too much $ on these darn things...$2.99 a pop and I was poppin' 'em like 3 or 4 times a week at one point (I was pregnant sooo I had an excuse ). read more

Literally the dumbest employees and the worst customer service of any fast food restaurant in the area. Every person who works the drive-thru looks and sounds as though they hate their lives. Food is always old or cold or both, but still takes the time of made to order to get. Love Roy Rogers, but this one is always a disappointment Why do I continue to give this place a chance? I just sat at the drive thru speaker for at least 5 minutes with no movement in line and no contact from anyone to at least acknowledge my existence. When someone finally said something, it was just "Welcome to Roy's " . I went ahead and stated my order and then again, nothing. About a minute later "Welcome to Roy's" again. Finally she acknowledged my order but I had to repeat with cheese 3 times before she got it. I've now been in line for 15 minutes and there are still 2 cars ahead of me. This is not a make to order restaurant, it's fast food, and I can almost guarantee my food will either be wrong or cold or both. My fault entirely for not going to a real restaurant. Obviously management needs to step It's official, I'm done with this place. I didn't even make it to the window this time. The nasty little girl working the drive thru just ended that today. Not only could she not get my order right, but she had the nerve to get an attitude with me for trying to correct her. I was only ordering fries and a drink mind you. I asked for a large fry and medium Diet Coke and she kept saying coke. When I corrected her, she said Coke again. Finally I get her to recognize diet and she argues that they don't have medium size. It's the same size I get every time, so that's new to me. I'm not confident that she had the order correct in the first place and I wasn't really feeling her exasperated little tone when she told me to drive around, so I left the line. I don't mess with people who have access to my food and I don't take food from people who are rude to begin with. This was my very last trip. I'm done with hoping they will get better. I know it's a fast food job, but I'm sure there are friendlier and more capable people who would work there. read more

Considering how long this place has been here (as in only a year) it still seems to have that 'new crowd' smell so to speak and was crowded as all get out. We went here for lunch after shopping in the Burtonsville Village Shopping center and I was a bit disappointed. Don't get me wrong, the food was good, just not a whole lot there. In fact, my bacon cheese burger was the SAME SIZE as my daughter's kids burger. That didn't make me all that happy, but at least the small morsel I got was cheap and tasted good. Went through the Drive Thru. Ordered a spicy chicken sandwich meal no sauce and a milk shake. It took me at least 30 minutes to get my food. I got the window for them to give me my food and about 5-7 minutes of sitting there I was told to step aside after the cashier and she took my receipt . I sat in the step aside area for 10-15 minutes still no food. I went inside and finally got my food about 5 minutes late but they forgot my milkshake so I had to have them make that (which was gross tasting). There are no horses named "Trigger" eating the lettuce out of the toppings bar, let's just say that. They are on point behind the counter and I've never had a bad experience here. I was in at 9:30PM Thursday 3/10/16. The staff were friendly but a little unprofessional and goofy. I found the wait time to be unacceptable for the amount of traffic at that hour. Waited 15 minutes for a burger, roast beef sandwich, fries and baked apples. I know it was 15 minutes because I was dispatching. My driver picked up specimens at 9:30 and dropped at the lab at 9:45. That's the amount of time it took between us ordering and to get our food. I'm giving this place 3 stars, however, because the food was hot and tasty. Went through the drive thru and got the worst service. I ordered a baked potato roast beef sandwich and a ham and swiss. Well I had to park and go inside because I wasn't given a fork. Then I realize my ham and swiss is a ham and cheddar. So I go back in and a sandwich was remade but had 1 thin slice of ham on it and the cheese was cold of course I had to go back inside because I'm not paying $5 for a sandwich that has no meat and is cold. The manager actually made that and had to remake it and it was still cold. The manager wouldn't even come talk to me about the poor service I was given. I will never return to this place. Fresh, fast and super nice!!!! Stopped on the way to Philly from Virginia. Got a 20 piece chicken, 3 lg sides, biscuits etc.

Hubby loves Roy Rogers BBQ sauce & roast beef sandwiches. We were excited to discover some Roy Rogers were going to be opening closer to home. We had to drive an hour to Frederick before. Our first order here was OK. I do like the strawberry shortcake. Our second order of roast beef sliders and roast beef sandwiches had RAW roast beef on them. We could not believe it. My husband didn't believe me, so he took the slices of meat off the bun and examined them under the magnifying light. I kid you not, the roast beef was RAW and sticky like raw meat is. We had not put anything on the sandwiches yet. We should have taken photos, but were so grossed out & feeling queasy, we just didn't think of it. He didn't go back out to the location because it was late and by the time he arrived, the place would have been closed. Hubby said it will be a long time before he will be able to get over that gut reaction and will want Roy Rogers again. It's terribly sad, since it was his favorite fast food place of all time going back decades to the original franchises. read more

Then you have a pretty darned decent fixin's bar so you really can have it your way. This chain seems to be a dying breed in Maryland, but I happen to stumble upon it on the way back home. Walked in and I immediately wanted to go to the Fixin's Bar and steal some pickles because they look so fresh. I ordered my food and I was astonished at the awesome customer service that the employees displayed. The cashier asked my first name for the order and told me it would be ready within a few minutes. Less than 2 minutes later I heard my name being called from the manager along with my order number. Man that was quick. Now I have to give major props to the lady who was cleaning the dining room, it seemed she had that mentality "NOT ON MY WATCH" working for her. If someone got up from their table she was on it like white on rice! It's nice to see people take pride in the cleanliness of their store while keeping the customers happy at the same time. I've been wanting to try this place out for a while. I can now take it off my bucket list. I ordered via drive-thru: fried chicken and sides to try: chicken-bland and not crunchy. Lemonade= yellow water. Fries- decent, but soggy. Mac-n-cheese a watery cheese-like substance- need I go on. Baked beans were edible with enough BBQ and hot sauce added. Baked apples- tart and cinnamon- probably good on ice cream. Strawberry shortcake cake- a hard dry biscuit with strawberries topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream ( all melting by the time for dessert) but the melting ice cream helped the dry biscuit- warning: the ice cream in the cup with a domed lid makes for a juggling act- I inverted the container upside down- dumped the ice cream in the lid and skillfully flipped the biscuit and strawberries back in the cup, cut into the biscuit and oozed the goo into the cup. I'm glad that I spared my family and my budget. Not even worth a picture. read more
