Stopped by Roy's for a quick dinner. Ordered large Roast beef combo and a fish platter, ( I know. Don't ask), and an order of cole slaw. They forgot to include fries for the combo so I had to go back to get my cold fries. The roast beef was so stringy it was impossible to chew. The fish was heavily breaded and so greasy! It was awful. The cole slaw tasted like it was spoiled, so had to throw it away. They've really gone down hill. I will say that the service was decent and the people who waited on me were nice. Good ole Roy's. This was a staple growing up, but they disappeared for a while. I'm glad I stopped at this one. They still have a "fixins bar." It was being stocked when I was waiting for my order and looked really fresh. No double-r-bar burger for me this time though; I chose to get 2 fried chicken breasts with cole slaw and a biscuit with a Diet Coke to wash it down. Like most places now, you order and pay and make your own drink. Then you stand or sit somewhere until your name is called. All the employees were really friendly and the CHICKEN WAS AMAZING. Granted I was really hungry but damn it was good. Being conscious of watching what I eat, my plan was to pick the skin off and just eat the meat, but when it hit my lips. It was like food porn. I believe all Roy Rogers restaurants are now privately owned so in the DC MD VA area there are only a few, not like in the old days. They consistently have good food and I love that they still have the Roy's Fixin's Bar where u can get condiments for your burgers. I also like their biscuits and coleslaw! I love Roy Rogers. Wish there were more. Today wasn't one of those days here. Ordered a cheeseburger meal. Great, I always stop here when passing through. Get the food, smells and looks amazing. I go to the fixins bar, open up my burger ready to load it up. WHAT THE HELL IS THAT? A hair, mixed in the cheese. Went back to the counter, pointed at the burger and quietly said "I think I need a refund, I lost my appetite". No questions asked, I got my refund and left. This particular fast food franchise is close to Route 4 and very convenient to Solomon's Island. Roy Rogers is the best fast food place ever. We used to have one in LaPlata, but it closed so now we have to drive 72 miles roundtrip to get our fix. (we ride down here several times a month) This place is clean. They hire friendly employees. There's a tv to catch up on news and sports. It's near Solomons Island, so there is plenty to do when you're down that way. They have some outdoor seating. Food: roast beef is the best. tender, juicy and thinly sliced but piled high on the bun. a 1,0000 times better than Arbys (which is rubbery and tastes fake) sides include baked potato, mashed potatoes, french fries. they have awesome fried chicken. Roy Rogers carries the Hershey brand of ice cream (delish) and as a tasty finish to your meal, nothings better than a strawberry shortcake. a real warm biscuit with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream and strawberries over the top. don't forget when you leave to grab a 3pack (or 6 pack) of the roast beef sliders for a snack later. Solomons island location. I'm a local. Have been going here for years. Yesterday I was in there getting take out. A young lady whom I have seen multiple times took my order. She is always pleasant and helpful. I placed my order and as I was waiting the manager came to her and was chastising her about something. She seemed embarrassed. The manner that this grown man was speaking to a young lady was not called for. I was embarrassed for her. I asked another employee who the manager on duty was. His name is Nick. We love to eat at this Roy's. The staff here are very friendly, the food fresh. The breakfast prices are unbelievably reasonable. They have excellent breakfast food options and serve it later on weekends. We live over 30 mins away and have to travel over the Solomon bridge so that in itself lets you know this Roy Rogers service must be something special! read more

This is the BEST Roy's in the chain bar none. Growing up in the DC area I remember when Roys were everywhere. Then they slowly all went away. Over the past 3-4 years Roys are starting to open up again. You go to Roys for one thing their signature roast beef sandwich. The one at this location is so tender it melts in your mouth. Staff is all very friendly . Grab a sandwich and drive three blocks and enjoy a Beautiful water front view while eating your sandwhich! I've been going to this establishment for my entire life. There have been snippy workers before. Our foods been messed up. But nothing like what we dealt with last night. Came to have dinner. The place was dead. My parents ordered their meal at 8:22 and ours was placed at 8:24. We were told that there would be a 4 minute wait on the tenders. No big deal. Didn't think that a 4 minute wait was bad. Until that 4 minute wait turned into a 20 min and still no food insight. Now some context during our wait, as we watched my parents eat their food, we witnessed the manager talking down to an employee about the floors towards the back of the restaurant. So I knew the confrontation of the situation was going to be a rough one. So I sent my boyfriend to deal with it since it was on his card anyways. He told him we did not receive any of our food we want a refund. The manager goes to give us the refund and half ass apologizes and as we were walking out my bf was checking the charge on his account and realized that the amount he refunded was wrong. So we went back in and my bf explained to him how he owes us more money. And he was like "I saw you with a drink and figured you at least got your mashed potatoes and fries" um what!? No! So I said I would understand did he charged us for the drink, considering that's the only thing we got. And he decided to get snippy with me " I'm handling it ma'am no need to go on and on.." he has no respect for any of his customers. He use to manage another local restaurant and ran that place into the ground as well. With his poor customer service. There goes another place I won't eat at in southern calvert.
