I happened to be in the shopping center where Royal Barber is located, and decided to stop in for a haircut. It was just an awesome place. Free hot towel/shoulder massage, they did the back of my neck with hot foam and a straight razor, and my hair was cut exactly the way I wanted. The staff was friendly, the chairs were super-comfortable, a flat screen was showing ESPN. It's a little more money than a Supercuts/Hair Cuttery type of place, (Cut + shampoo totalled $19) but worth it and more. I moved to Ashburn, VA for school and was in need of a haircut badly. I wasn't expecting much when I came to Royal barber. I just wanted a simple fade and comb over. When I first came in, I was immediately greeted by all the workers. Everyone was very nice and welcoming. I believe Royal is own by an independent Korean owner. I noticed all the hairstylists here were Korean in there 40s. I was seated right away and Mrs. Sarah was my barber. She was very detailed when working on my fade which I liked a lot! She took her time and didn't rush which was a plus. She finished up my haircut with a straight razor for the edges (which most places doesn't do) and gave me a hot towel which was very relaxing. 14$ for the haircut which I think is very fair for the work I received. I walked in on a Sunday an hour before closing and got great service from Andy. Simple hard combover, but I've got a crazy double cowlick on the back that tends to throw people off. I waited only about 10-15 min since there were three people in front of me. Andy asked me what I wanted, took his time on the sides, trimmed the top, confirming several times (no language issues) the amount I wanted taken off. I stopped in today because it is a new place and wanted to see if they were any good. Very friendly, but I would not go back. I asked for a trim on the sides and for the top to be evended out. I came out ready for a military boot camp !!! I have no hair left on the sides of my head and very little on the top. The good news is it will grom back, the bad news is I have to walk around being seen like this for a while. Love this place! I don't go for a specific barber, they are all fine. Really love the hot towel and brief massage at the end of the haircut. Love to watch ESPN when I am getting my hair cut. The magazines aren't that great (the only time I read Time is when getting a haircut). But that's fine because I'm so attached to my phone these days, I just play with that. Went there to get my two young boys haircuts, one is 4 yrs old and the other 2 yrs old. Ladies who do your hair don't speak or understand great English- this is a problem when kids are speaking to them. My 4 yr old asked her twice not to use the hair dryer and she went ahead and used it. She did a decent hair cut for my 4 yr old but it took a loooong time. For my 2 yr old, she took way too long for his patience and didn't get the job done. Toy corner is a bonus and a help BUT it's filthy! If you look at the bottom of the play boxes there is hair and dirt everywhere! I can only imagine the last time any of it got cleaned. Anyway, average place, average hair cuts...wouldn't rush back. I just moved into Ashburn area recently and tried getting a haircut here the first time. They have a big high graphical TV in the middle of the shop, so I did not have to wait for long at all. I am never returning to this place. I went in one afternoon when no other customer was there, and was greeted by the staff. I stood there for a little bit, while the staff just returned to whatever they were doing before I arrived. I then sat down, thinking it might just take a couple of minutes for them to get set up to cut my hair. About 15 minutes went by, and STILL no one helped me, or made any approach to even acknowledge that I was there. I finally was done being patient, so I asked if someone could cut my hair. Addings a second tv is great so all chairs can see it and the new paint has freshened up the place. All of the ladies do a wondersful job and I wont consider anyother place. I took my son into for a quick trim. I would not recommend this place to anyone. My son's hair is uneven and he looks terrible. We were the only people there when we walked in, but as others came in, the barber rushed my son's hair cut. I took him to the hair cuttery and they made is some what better. So I go in the store and there is only on barber with one person in the chair, one waiting. I wait for first guy to finish. She starts on second client and another person comes in store for haircut. Then the 2nd client is finished, I stand up and the barber was like he was here earlier so he is in front of you. I sit there for 40 minutes, if I had known that, I would not have waited. read more

Terrible service from the owner/manager. There is an all-too regular turnover of the staff on a quarterly basis. Just when you thought you found a good barber that you can count on each month, they quit and go someplace else. Also, on several occasions, the manager often tells me to wait for another barber to get freed up, when it is my turn to have a cut, even though she herself is not busy and is not tending to a customer or her staff. I was a regular paying customer who had personally brought and recommended 3 other customers. As a (now former) monthly customer, I have had enough! The consistent lack of great customer service and turnover has upset me to the point that I will no longer support this establishment and gladly take my business elsewhere. read more
