If you like German food, this is the place to go. The food is too heavy for my taste, and I'm not much of a carnivore, but my friends enjoy it a lot. It's definitely a must if you like meat, vegetables, and meat. Point of interest: Royal Bavaria brews their own beer in a well behind the restaurant (located on some land out in the boonies). If there's any words I love to hear about beer, it's "German" and "fresh-brewed." The beer is light and smooth and oh-so-flavorful (a nice remedy to domestic beer). I had the King's Gold and died and went to heaven. Then I tried the King's Weizen and died and went to a better heaven. The waiter told us that they are starting to sell their beer in kegs. It's on my to-do list to get one and not let anyone else have any. Even if you aren't a German food lover, Royal Bavaria is definitely the right place for a beer lover. read more

Scharfe Hänchen Bratwurst mit Pommes Frites und Curry Ketchup 3.5/5 Two "spicy" chicken sausages with french fries and curry ketchup. I don't know how to pronounce any of those words in German outside of "Curry" and "Ketchup." The sausages were "okay" nothing blew me away about them. Not really anything I would call spicy myself, but they still tasted alright. There's something about chicken sausages that maybe I just am not a big fan of. The french fries were pretty tasty though and I loved the curry ketchup. Strangely they were the best part of the meal. King's Weizen (beer) 5/5 Good stuff! I'm always happy with beers that aren't incredibly hoppy because it takes some serious work to get that taste to be good. Atmosphere I imagine because it was a Tuesday afternoon the place wasn't all that busy. The ladies wear traditional (maybe?) German dresses. For some reason we were seated at this huge table that could easily sit 8 or 9 people when there was only two of us. This made me feel really lonely. I liked being able to look over and see the brewery. Server I feel bad I never remember people's name but she was super nice. She had lost her voice, but made sure she was able to be heard and still remained really friendly. Nice lady! This is a place I want to go back to because I really believe they have some good stuff. On Saturday night my husband and I decided to go out to eat. I try to balance my choice of veggie places with his love of meat. We decided to go to Royal Bavaria on Sooner Road. The cost was $100 for two of us, with 3 glasses of wine. Hubs had an onion and apple smothered pork chop with mashed potatoes and shrimp on the side, and I had the veggie strudel and we brought some potato salad and a plain house salad home to my daughter and German chocolate cake home for dessert for me. The service was somewhat slow, but the waiter was attentive and he knew a lot about the menu. The hostess was a sweetheart, offering to bag our boxes for us since our table was right next to her stand. The salads had canned green beans in them. The lettuce was fresh and the house dressing was good, but I'm not sure why they would choose to use canned green beans and not fresh. It somewhat took away from the rest of the plate. Hubs scraped the apples and onions from his pork chop and he said it was good, but not as good as my version. I make them for him every once in a while even though I rarely cook meat at home. Pork chops are a favorite for him. The veggie strudel seemed like it was a can of veg-all wrapped in dough. The only flavorful part of it was sun dried tomatoes. It was dry on the inside, and it was flavored with cheese that I didn't want because I eat mostly vegan, but they didn't have anything except what I brought home to my daughter that didn't have dairy. When I make something similar at home, I make a sort of gravy that I mix with the vegetables to keep them moist and add flavor. I didn't see any gravy in their version. My daughter enjoyed the potato salad and house salad, but her comment was, "Why did they put canned green beans in my salad?" If they make fresh green beans for the apple strudel, it would be easy to make extra for the salads...just a suggestion. We took the German chocolate cake home to eat. It seemed frozen. The bottom of the cake was soggy and off color compared to the rest and it was decorated with canned whipped cream. The cake was fairly moist, but it lacked flavor. My husband ended up eating most of it. I realize that as someone who doesn't eat meat, judging the food of a German restaurant is hard, but I expected to be able to get dumplings and salad and maybe even potato salad, but they put beef stock in their potato salad. I'm giving the place three stars because of the friendly and professional staff, I would give the food two, which saddens me. I love German food, so I'm disappointed. read more

I grew up in Germany (for 5 years) and my husband is a big fan of German food and culture. My family still lives there so we visit at least once a year. This is our go to when we're missing Germany and we haven't ever been disappointed. The waitstaff is always super great and the food is delicious. And the beer is amazing. We always come right at 5 and have never had to wait for a table of two, but if you plan on coming later you may want a reservation. Considering the owner is German (we've also enjoyed good conversation with him a couple times) the food is very authentic. Our favorite German food in the area!! read more

We don't have an abundance of German restaurants here, especially if you compare it with the surplus of other eateries like Thai or Mexican/Tex-Mex. The most unfortunate part is only that the location is fairly out of the way. On a positive spin, it kind of adds to the atmosphere and I'm sure the biergarten is great when it's not freezing cold. Fried cheese curds with German mustard and dill sauce (5/5): This looks like a newer item on the menu, because it isn't listed on the site menu. The great part about these fried items is that the breading has a crispy quality and completely avoids being greasy and unpleasant. The cheese inside is stringy, and isn't at all rubbery or difficult to chew. It comes with dill and mustard, both of which are very good. Bayerischer Schweinebraten in Biersauce mit Semmelknödl, Blaukraut: Roasted pork shoulder (4/5): The meat was juicy and tasty and fell apart so easily. My only complaint is that it was a bit too fatty which somewhat took away from the succulent taste of the rest of it. Bread dumpling with gravy (4/5): I love dumplings and all the various interpretations of them. This German dumpling was very thick and well complimented by the brown gravy that it was soaked in. It was just a bit too salty, but not enough so to be overwhelming. Red cabbage (5/5): Some of my favorite cabbage to date. Before this, I only really liked the cabbage that I make at home. The cabbage seemed to be boiled but was flavored in a way that made it so very pleasant. Russ (5/5): A beer drink that was half King's Weizen and half Mountain Dew. I have spent 1/3 of my life in Germany and this is a horrible representation of German food. I ordered mushroom gravy and a glob of fatty mixture came out of the kitchen! It was my first visit to a German restaurant. I had veal schnitzel with a frankfurter. Besides, I asked their three of very special beers and a sampler. I was really satisfied of the quality and taste. Service was exellent and fast. Interior design was very special that you cannot see anywhere else. It was quite an adventure. They had live German music. The place looks pretty cool. I ordered the 4 sausage sampler plate. 3 of the 4 were very good. Unfortunately the other one was just a footlong hotdog. The sauerkraut was yummy. I got the fries instead of the mashed potatoes. The only downfall for me was the high back chairs we sat on. We only go here on special occasions because it's easily $25 a person. A bit pricey for us. The atmosphere is fun because the girls are dressed in traditional looking German clothes and the architecture inside and out is very European. It really is a neat place. The food is EXTREMELY heavy and while it is very good, I have my doubts on some of its authenticity. I lived in Germany for three years. The brats are good but you can get those lots of places. I am pretty sure the gravy on the potatoes is just regular American brown gravy. The schnitzel is good but not great. Overall, the food is good. There is nothing bad there. I just question the authenticity and because I question the authenticity, I also question the pricing. However, they do really well for groups and big parties. Who would have guessed? A German restaurant in Oklahoma??? Far fetched as it would seem, this is an authentic Bavarian restaurant. The heavy set German hostess with a German accent holding beers in her hand will assure you of that. Food is great. Service can be slow if you order after a big party. Don't expect to split the beer in a boot, as you might share a pitcher. Anyone ordering a beer in a boot can expect to drink it all by him or herself. I haven't tried a lot of German places, but this restaurant is GREAT. A fun atmosphere, and great hearty meals. And, of course, Das Boot.... They've always had half-, one-, and two-liters, but now they have THREE-liters. The three liter really isn't a boot... it's a glass bucket. So if you're a guy, and you like to prove your manliness, you'd probably enjoy drinking a bucket of beer. I've found that the best plate to get is the sausage sampler. It comes with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes (I think?). Goes great with the beer. The waitstaff is really friendly, so no problems there. Their menu can get a bit pricey, but I guess that's kind of expected with great food like that. They're only open for dinners on certain days. read more

We visited Oklahoma and stopped in for dinner one evening, the food was very good and Ariel was a great waitress. She recommend we come back on Thursday when they have a buffet, however She didn't recommend a reservation. We show up on Thursday about 5:30pm and we're asked for a reservation. We didn't have one. The restaurant was empty. We were told we could go outside. The weather was windy and dirt was flying we said no thank you. I asked for the manager. He was rude and argumentative. He even went as far as showing me a one page list of reservations and 75% were at 7pm. So my thought process is: you have 4 people in your restaurant NOW wanting to eat, I would get us seated and out of there before "your reservations" come? But we didn't see eye to eye on that. We left and won't be back. After a Facebook review was posted the manager said he offered to put us on a wait list, which was never offered. Not only was he rude but is also a liar. read more

This is one of the most authentic German restaurant we've been to outside of Germany. Seems as though all food ingredients are either imported from Germany, or are made from traditional German recipes. The food is fantastic; schnitzel, sausages, pretzels, strudel, all the way down to the mustard, and pate! Of course, the beer is what attracted us; hops and malt from Germany, brewed by old German standards, it is by far the best. From the decor to the food, beer, and atmosphere, you'd think you were back in Germany. Oh, and the live band (weekends in January) put this place over the top! Went for my birthday Friday night (9/13). Decided to go there because of all the great reviews but I guess when they are busy don't expect your food for a good 2 hours. We ordered at 7:24 pm and the food rolled out at 9:20. The salad came out around 8:45. Pretty pathetic, had a friend leave the table and instead eat at home around 9. His plate was around $20. If I wasn't drinking the liter boots I would've probably done the same thing. Instead I got boozed up with friends and made fun of the service and staff because it was very apparent they can not handle a large crowd. And when it comes to ordering a drink, we had to order our next beer when the waiter served us because there was only one person working the bar with a full restaurant. Super slow service. From now on when I want German food I will make the trek out to Old Germany in Choctaw even though this restaurant is 3 miles from my house. That will be the last time I eat here. read more

We enjoyed our first experience dining here, the food was ok but the atmosphere and the beer were great. However, the next time we tried to eat here, we made reservations a week in advance for a party of 8 with a toddler making it 9 people. When we arrived they tried to seat us at a table suited for 6. Since they were booked they couldn't switch tables so we were left with no choice but to leave. Beware if you have a large party. I'm not a huge fan of German food in the first place but when we saw they have an all-you-can-eat buffet on Thursday I thought it might bring an opportunity to find something I really do like. We went with family and all had birthday. My brother, who loves German food, said that it may actually be better if you don't order from the buffet because then you can choose your own meat and gravy's. None of the food along the birthday was labeled so I have no idea what I was eating! There were a few things that I really liked but I can't tell you what they were called because there was no name on it! Some kind of green noodles with chicken LOL at least I think they were noodles! The dill dressing was great with salad. The desserts were just little premade desserts like you might buy at Sam's in bulk. Nothing homemade on the buffet dessert Line so that was disappointing. The atmosphere was great and servers and hostesses were really nice. And the place was packed so that must say something right? read more

Ok, I temper this review with the fact that it was a Friday night and it was busy. Secondly, our waitress did an awesome job. Third, I have been many times to this restaurant and this was by far my worst experience. In fact each of the other times would rate a four star experience. Unfortunately not on this night. We started by ordering two pretzel appetizers which came out in the usual manner hanging on a rack after a moderate wait. However we got no plates to put the pretzel pieces and mustard sauce etc on. We asked about the plates and were told there were no clean plates. We decided to just peel off pieces and did them in shared condiments. We never got plates for our appetizers. We then ordered our main meals and proceeded to wait and wait and wait. We received our meals and overall 4 out of 8 meals were okay. 3 meals were very light on sauce and in fact the waitress said she "used the last of the sauce" on two of them. We asked for more sauce but we were told that there were no more clean bowls for sauce. The "brisket" on another meal was green as in it looked like it was spoiled or boiled or something. You can't call it brisket especially in Oklahoma. Overall a bad experience. Will I go back? Maybe but I will be very cautious. I hope this is just a glitch and not the beginning of the end. read more

My family and I come here once per year to celebrate my birthday which is in winter. As soon as the first cold snap comes through everyone in my family starts talking about the annual night at Royal Bavaria. The beer is great (Octoberfest is my favorite) and the food is very very good. It is a very good idea to make a reservation as they are usually quite busy! Bread baskets are great, the german salads are different but good as well. My personal favorite is the Schnitzel. It is a lot of fun and we spend several hours there enjoying the atmosphere, great food, and everyone enjoys themselves! read more

Amazing food as always! The service tonight was lacking big time though. Although Saturdays are busy our waitress seemed hard core overloaded. Although seated quickly and drinks got there fast, it was downhill from there. We had to ask other wait staff for appetizer plates, to add a bread basket, for a spoon, and so on. She had quite a few large groups and it showed in her lack of being at the table ever checking on us. If the food wasn't so darn good the score would have suffered. We had the sausage appetizer and it's always amazing. The jagerschnitzel is always perfect, and a cold Kings Gold tops off the meal. We have been excited for several months to try this restaurant. I ordered a house brewed beer it was soured to the smell and the taste. I only took a sip and set it on the edge of the table hoping the server would ask. He refilled my water 3 times and never ask about the beer? We had the sausage appetizer with was ok. Wife had the cordon blue and I had the veal. The food all had the same sour after taste. We have eaten German food in several restaurants including the great place that closed. This is one of our favorite restaurants in Moore! I love the Sausage Sampler, the Veal Schnitzel is yummy too, the Ham & Cheese Cordon Bleu is $25 but its so damn amazing! The bread basket appetizer is wonderful. I recommend ordering the 1 litre King's Gold beer too! Great service, really neat looking decorations inside. Good for families or large groups of friends. Was craving some German food today, and the pictures for this place looked great. Checked their website for their hours, which listed that they were open until 8:30 PM today. Just to make sure they did not have different hours due to COVID, I also checked their facebook, which had posts within the last week, confirming they were open until 8:30 PM. So, I took the 45 minute one way trip out to the restaurant, arrived at 8 PM (30 minutes before posted closing time, and 8:30 is also the closing time listed at the restaurant itself as well) only to have them refuse to take my carryout order. Don't waste your time attempting to visit this place like I did, their hours of operation are incorrect. read more
