Such a great dinner at Brasserie Copain. Just steps away from the Ballentyne Hotel, this French themed cafe hit the spot. While the steak was definitely the most popular choice amongst colleagues, members at the table also enjoyed escargot and other salads for appetizers and salmon, salads and perfect cooked shrimp for dinner. The French onion soup was incredibly flavorful and texturized. The steak, while a bit overcooked for a medium rare request was still delicious and the frites were AMAZING. I would go back for the fries alone. We also couldn't stop looking at dessert counter. We were too full to indulge but will certainly be going back the next time we find ourselves in Charlotte. As for the service and atmosphere, too notch! Our server, who was in fact French, was very attentive and had great recommendations. The atmosphere made me feel like I was at a brasserie in France and made me want to return

Copain is a sweet little place tucked inside the Ballantyne Bowl. The space is beautiful, clean, and allows for indoor and outdoor dining. Their lattes are always delicious and the variety of pastries, baked goods, and other treats are plentiful. The raspberry croissant was not as buttery as I hoped, however the fresh raspberry and sweet cream were a lovely and light touch. The mushroom quiche was ok. Not super impressive. While I have not had lunch or dinner there yet, I do look forward to another visit soon for one or both of those meals!

Brasserie Copain has serious potential -- you can feel it the moment you walk in. The French theme is charming, the music is très on‑brand, and the whole place has that lively "almost‑Paris" energy. The food is still finding its rhythm. The coq au vin leans more deconstructed than deep and soulful, and the mussels were okay but could use a little more flavor firepower. But the Colline Fossiles Chardonnay? Absolutely delicious. Bright, textured, and easily the standout of the night. Three months in, they're clearly building something special. Does it transport me straight to Paris? A little -- but there's still room to grow. I'll be back to see how they evolve.

I came here with my mom, sister, and brother in law for dinner. I was blown away by how incredible the experience was considering how new the place is (it just opened in January). The staff were so friendly and professional. They were able to answer any questions about the menu with a breadth of knowledge. The space is small, but well designed + there is lovely outdoor seating. All the food is of the highest quality and often locally sourced. I was especially happy when ordering a slightly obscure cocktail that they not only were able to make it, but it was one of the best Bee's Knees I've ever had (and I'm quite picky with them). I'd definitely come back! They are constantly updating and refining the menu so it'll be a great new experience next time I'm in town!

Came here for a treat after lunch. The space is beautiful. A couple of gluten free items in the case including a chocolate chip cookie and banana nut muffin. Coffee came as 8oz which seems so small after all my grandes at Starbucks, but I got a caramel latte and it was delicious. The gf choc chip cookie was good too.

Hands down the BEST Tomato bisque soup, and steak tartare I've ever had!! You will dream about it lol

Delaney the Executive Chef is incredible!!!! The tomato bisque and the steak tartare is by far the best I have ever had!!! Then to top it off the charcuterie board truly made my heart smile!!! Listen this is a place that you must visit.

Such a delightful experience at Brasserie Copain! Gorgeous store front, inviting employees, beautiful on the inside. The choices of pastries, food, & desserts, along with coffee, lattes, & alcohol (think champagne, wine). I had the roast beef sandwich with mixed lettuce salad as my side (was so excited I didn't get a picture). Seating is "family" style at the tables, but they have some booths & you can sit at the bar. Didn't wait long for my food. A bit pricey, but worth it.

Enjoyed a latte at Copain on Sunday morning for Mother's Day. The service was excellent - a friendly host with a warm smile. The ambiance is delightful. The restaurant is quite small but charming, and there's a parking lot across the street.

It feels like a quaint bistro then seated and obviously designed by a man because there is nowhere to put a handbag except behind you or on the floor. Easily solvable by putting some type of hook on the metal post that holds up the table. The night we came the mussels and the frisee salad were not available. Could still have the frisee with a different lettuce type. The menu is limited. Wish they had the sandwich menu available or pieces of quiche as well. The French Onion soup was like who spilled the whole shaker of Morton's into this soup. I am the type that loves salt and puts it on even if salt is already on the dish. The one ppl say there's already salt on the dish. Gruyère is a big glob and definitely need a fork to eat it. Generally I wouldn't say anything but it was too much. The soup is made fresh daily. This batch had been made that day so didn't want to sub a new bowl. The Caesar was very basic and the croutons were slivers of bread like literal slivers of the crust. From a size perspective, definitely a French portion. Let the manager know that it was too salty and they were definitely accommodating. Customer service is 5 star. They subbed dessert for the soup. The banana pudding was gone before the photo could be snapped. It was absolutely delicious!! Highly recommend. We will return and definitely try something else.

I like that you can sit at counter and have a cup of drip coffee in a mug at a decent price, get a free refill and enjoy the ambiance!

They were so patient with our table of 8, and even let us take pictures before and during dinner, which we really appreciated! I would definitely recommend the duck entrées and rotisserie chicken. Both were so flavorful and tender! The potatoes that came with the duck were sooo good and had the perfect little touch of saltiness. And the french green beans ?? So good! Everything we had was honestly a 10/10. It's a really beautiful place for a birthday, date night, or really any special occasion. We had a great time and would definitely come back!

Flavorful, with both very savory and yet light ingredients which made it perfect for an entree. Not too dense but also filling enough for the wait until dinner. Then the salmon a la plancha. The salmon was cooked to perfection and not overdone, which is unfortunately often the case. The perfect portion along with the tomatoes and kale to keep it rich, but still somehow light. Ended the night with their signature (and recommended) le citron lemon dessert which was to die for. The waitress also brought me some madelines with an adorable little personalized message to complement my little mom's solo night out. 10 out of 10 and certainly can't wait to come again!

Truffle fries, not really French but a must , usually nice and it when I get them here but today they were just a bit sad as it seemed they had been sitting for a bit. Anyway I'm just going to put that to the side and give them a chance to correct that next time. Then the French onion soup which was I have to say perfection! The pull on the cheese was on point. The broth so flavorful . Steaming hot on this one . The escargot. Yes another must here. Always decadent . Buttery and garlicky . Awesome. The mushroom risotto. Yes I know not french but they do it so well here. Rich and creamy and perfectly cooked where it's not mushy, different kinds of mushrooms and I love they add peas. Perfect comfort food. Service was excellent and with a smile. Ambiance always classy and we watched a little World Cup too. Katherine is my goto for classic food and a great bar. One of the best in Winston.

This is pretty much my go-to if I want anything higher end in Winston. Every time I've been here…read morethe food has been great and the service good quality and personable. Their escargot is great and I'd highly recommend it if you're open to it, and their mussels appetizer is absolutely bursting with flavor. Personally I'd recommend asking for a few extra pieces of bread with it. It's a higher end restaurant and I feel because of its association with the hotel it tends to skew a slightly more professional/business clientele and vibe but overall I think you get a pretty decent mix of people here. On my most recent visit I was told their valet service is for restaurant customers too which is pretty awesome, so if you come down when there's a huge concert going on at the park or something you don't have to walk 20 minutes to and from your parking spot. Overall I'd highly recommend it as a default "can't go wrong" pick for a nice night out.
