Working with Simon at Royal Home Builders Inc was a true partnership. I started my project with another company who disappointed and underdelivered. I was apprehensive about having to find another team but from the moment I met Simon and explained what I had previously experience, all my insecurities went away. Not only is Simon concise, he's also knowledgeable, reasonable and has a team of efficient and timely workers who's work is as neat as their demeanor. I was delighted every time I went into my bedroom and saw the progress they were making. My house is 100 years old, with many empty pockets that needed to be fixed, yet Simon remained on the budget. Royal Home Builders was one of the contractors I talked to regarding my loft project. I had doubts at first. Because I don't know them. Their website is ok and the guy who dealt with me seems sincere. It was hard-earned money that I had to spend. Thus I was very careful and made sure they are legit. There were ups and downs. And the delay of approval from the city was causing me stress. But Gilbert reassured me that he was on top of it and constantly following up in the city. There were 5 stages of approval and they prepared for every single inspection thoroughly. Making sure that everything was according to the city code. I wasn't happy with the architect's plan. It was like a template downloaded but Gilbert made it work. He tried to appease my doubts in other ways like making sure the construction went well. They cleaned up each and every day after work. They did a very good dust control protocol And barely disrupted our everyday lives while I and my housemates live in the house. The finishing was very meticulously done. Hired this company in 2020 to work on my leaky roof. They recommended putting new gutters and repairing the roof where it was needed. Spent well over 10k on this project. Soon as the rains came, the house leaked BAD. Called and texted so many times. Finally when i got through they used the covid excuse and delayed any meetings. Meanwhile the entire city of LA people are working and doing construction. You mean to tell me you can't send a couple of your workers here with masks to even look at my situation? Til this day they've not called or come through to fix the problem. Why not?? They have my number, why wouldn't you call your clients and see what's going on, how you can make things right? As if we're going to forget about it. I guess they were right. I moved on to another company. I don't trust there work/word anymore. Side note: I learned a lesson dealing with this company though. Red flags all over the place. Stupid me. Do your research on this company. It's interesting. Another thing, the guys who came for the consultation, total gift of gab types, oh trust us, we'll take care of you, stuff like that. They actually looked me in the eye and said he'll guarantee the roof for a lifetime. I was an idiot. Let this be a warning, these guys are no roofers. I had some real pros come here and they scuffed at the terrible work that was done. From what I gather, this company does other things for your home, but as far as roofing goes they did a terrible job on mine. I love my new bathroom! Royal Home Builders did a fine job. Mr. Simon was my contact and really listened to what I wanted for the design. His crew was always professional and usually on time. The work took a couple weeks longer than planned but this was not the fault of Royal Home Builders. A change in the framing required a smaller window which Mr. Simon addressed and was able to get a window frame replacement in about 3 weeks. I highly recommend Royal Home Builders for home improvement projects. I hired them to do some termite repair and painting for the exterior of my house. They also painted the interior and completely gutted and remodeled an upstairs bathroom. Loved that they always called first before showing up. Especially loved that they worked very hard to protect my hardwood floors and the parts of the house they were not working on. Everyone was very respectful and showed up in a mask and worked in a mask as well as practicing social distancing. They went out of their way to get me exactly what I wanted especially in the bathroom remodel. Their customer service is top notch. Their prices are very competitive and the end result is top notch. Update- I was contacted by Simon via text after my review below. Text me on 2/12/24 saying would call me the week after since was having some issues. Almost 2 months later and no call. Also has not answered my calls or texts. Very frustrating. It will be 2 years on May 10 that my project was started. Very poor communication. My permits might even be expired by now and have not yet passed final inspection. Need my wall stucco and drain in my backyard with some other minor details and cannot finish. Royal Home Builders just finished up a bathroom remodel in my condo, and I'm very happy with the results! My realtor recommended them to me, and Simon responded to my initial call very quickly and gave me an estimate that was the best bang for my buck. He kept the project moving very quickly, and we rarely had a day where something wasn't happening. The original estimate was for 4-6 weeks, and it did take a bit longer than that, but it was mostly due to the huge number of inspections required by the city. I had a functioning shower by about 6.5 weeks. He had to leave for a couple weeks near the end of the remodel, so Gilbert stepped in to help shepherd the second half of the project, and he was also great to work with. He worked with all the inspectors to make sure everything was done to code and to my satisfaction. His subcontractors were prompt, did great work, and left very little mess to clean up. I'd definitely consider working with Royal Home Builders again if I need to remodel something in the future. read more

From the beginning really liked how they used face masks given COVID19. Also really liked how fast they responded to our bathroom remodel request. They responded to my home advisor request the same day to set up a free quote. They gave me the price on the spot. When we decided to go with their company they were able to start the following week. They stuck as close to the timeline given the circumstances and changes made throughout the remodel. They also had constant communication throughout the process ensuring we knew who was coming, to do what, and when. They did well cleaning up all of their construction work each day as I have 2 young kids so cleaning up at the end of each work day was a big deal for us. I gave a 4 out of 5 though as the price for plumbing changed substantially during the remodel. We did do a plumbing change (moving toilet) which was not discussed in the quote so I understand a price increase for that. However the other plumbing work (double vanity, move of shower plumbing) was discussed in the beginning and they told us after the plumbing was done that the price was being increased for those as well. It should be said though that even with the price increase they still were fair with the cost of everything else. Though there was some miscommunication with the plumbing cost, we would still choose to use Royal again for when we redo our master bathroom. We will be sure though to review the quote better the next time around. read more

Horrible customer service! I set up an appointment for a consultation. I informed the young lady on the phone that I had worked with Simon in the past. She had the nerve to question me regarding if the company had actually done work for me. She claimed to have looked me up in her system and said she could not find my name. Why would I not tell the truth about that? She further provided me with Simon's last name and again questioned if I had the correct company. She said she need to "verify" me. We went through a verbal exchange which went nowhere, ending with her stating "do you want service or not". HORRIBLE! I just hung up! Beware something weird is going on with this company. Update: How someone who was not apart of my conversation can state accurately any part of that conversation escapes me. When I initially dealt this company all dealings with it were positive. Within a week after completion of the project I began to have issues with some of the materials that they had used in the project. I reached out to them and they scheduled an appointment to send someone out to look at the work. On the scheduled day, the worker showed up and agreed that the issue needed to be fixed. Another appointment was scheduled to fix the issue, but no one showed up. I called numerous times and was always told that they would call back to reschedule the appointment to fix their mistake. Each time I never a received a call back. At this point I'm not sure I will ever have the issue that they created corrected. This is concerning to me because I am a senior and feel that I am being ignored by this company. I cannot in good conscious recommend Royal Home Builders. Our home improvement project began 6 months ago and it's finally done!!! That seems like a long time but RHB, Simon and his entire team of contractors did an excellent job. The project began as a simple kitchen update to replace the dated countertops. Consequently, one thing led to another, we continued the kitchen update with replacing the tile floor and an electrical panel upgrade. But it didn't stop there. A leak was discovered which caused us to repipe the entire house with new copper pipes. And that led to a complete bathroom remodel. You would think that's enough...but no!!! It's the middle of summer and we were convinced to add central air conditioning and get the exterior painted. What a list, huh? Almost like a brand-new home. But it's all done now. I think the company might do a good job, but if ILAN is your project manager, I strongly suggest you request someone else. He talks more than he listens, I told him the bathroom exhaust fan needed to be replaced. When I reminded him about it he said I never told him and wanted to charge me $800 just to install it (I purchased the exhaust fan). Then there's his disappearing act, so YOU have to call him to find out when the workmen are returning. The workmen didn't clean up (left a mess), and no one did a final review (the bathroom needed another coat of paint). The last time I heard from Ilan was late July, leaving me to deal with the city inspector, among other things. The company called me in November regarding the final check. read more

The only reason there's one star is because I can't leave a response with ZERO. This company did faulty work on a tile job on my grandmothers pool. She has been calling to come and repair the work. They set up an appointment to come, but never showed. I'm sure this was only to get her to stop calling. And now they REFUSE to call her back. We have been trying to get this issue resolved for over a year now. This company charged her $25,000.00 for this job and tiles are buckling and popping off all around her pool. Long history of being used by scammers. No one on the line when I picked up then that little beep. Someone named Tannis claimed to be the daughter of a painter there. Asked why they use fake caller ID and call people on the Do-Not-Call registry. She said something about being a small business. Reiterated the question and she hung up. Called them at 888-722-9245 and got Tannis on the line in the marketing dept. Still no explanation of their illegal marketing practices but she said I could call back as much as I wanted. Seemed irritated that I made the effort to get my questions answered and hold them accountable. And she was still trying to get some work from me.
