Reporting a racist incident that happened to me on Monday night August 9, 2021 between 7PM and 7:30PM at this restaurant; when I heard one of their staff (the one clearing tables outside) call me a racial slur. I decided to report him, only to be met by the front of house, who made it worst. She was quick to say management was not here, effectively letting me know nothing will be done. She didn't even confront or ask him any questions when I pointed out who did it, thereby protecting him. All she suggested was she'll tell management, while goading me to repeat the slur. It hurt to hear it the first time from that staff member, hurt when I had to repeat it to report what happened, and hurt even more when the lady kept repeating it back to me, I had to tell her to Stop. Solid Indian offering in the heart of Bar Harbor - really enjoyed the wild selection of lamb dishes, and the onion-centric app (think Indian onion rings, wow!). My only comment is for those that like heat - I think you shouldn't be afraid to order up a level on the heat. I can handle, and found a dish that was rated mild-medium to have no heat - be bold! Service was really lovely, felt very much like a family business, and we love supporting those! read more

Solid Indian cuisine with vegan options available. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Certain items on the menu took a while to come out, but if waiting a little bit longer means a well prepared meal, it was certainly doable! Our party of six had the jackfruit curry (vegan friendly), lamb tandoori, chicken tandoori, garlic naan, vegetable korma, momo, and samosas for appetizers. Everyone was well acquainted with their food, except for the lamb tandoori. It was a bit saltier than expected, but overall still eatable. The food was served in well sized portions. The staff were also very willing to help identify the vegan options and even spoke with the chef on our behalf to alter a vegetarian entree to make it vegan friendly. For that quality of service, we would certainly love to eat here again. The garlic naan is also "the best naan I ever had" according to my cousin. Visiting as a tourist with my family and I usually don't do reviews, but the food was excellent and I am unclear why it isn't rated closer to 5 stars. Had several vegetarian dishes and they were all very good, with the Chana masala the best I ever had. Plus there was some good spice. Highly recommend checking this place out! read more

Good for starters, amateur for entrees. 5 star marked dishes are warning signs. Uncooked gravies, when complained it just came with a bit more chilly powder again. They need to work on how to make a gravy and not to serve raw tomatoes purée. read more

Pretty solid Indian food, especially for being in the middle of bar harbor. I did restrain myself and avoid the butter lobster, but had a great lamb curry while my boyfriend suffered through a great lamb vindaloo. Service was a little on the slow side, but friendly, and the food was definitely decent. If you're looking for a seafood break, this isn't the worst place to be, and the smells eminating down the street are infectious. read more

My friend placed an order and the person on the phone asked us to come back after 45 min to pick up the order. We went there after 50 min and food wasn't ready. Wow! Amazing food and great service. We were a little reluctant to go there due to the previous reviews, but when the heart wants curry and this happens to be the only Indian restaurant in town- we had to give it a try. It was overall a very nice experience, I would say the place is very nicely decorated and spacious compared to many Indian/paki/Bangla restaurant I've been to in east coast. The food was tasty--and I'm very picky with my desi cuisine. We had the chicken biryani and lamb vindalu (which was on the days special), side of naan and some drinks. They also have happy hour on beer and wine. Portions came in generous amount that we end up taking a doggy bag back to hotel. We are damm sure, It was "Ready to eat Frozen Paneer Tikka masala" that was served to us...After first round, we tried other paneer curry as well (Kadhai Panner) but that too beaten the earlier curry in worst taste competition. There was a lot of flavor in the food. What a great surprise on a long vacation. A little spice in the lamb but we were warned in advance.

Really disappointing given the number of positive reviews, both in terms of service and food. They have patio seating because of COVID-19, so we were seated outside. It was a bit chilly and we were a few feet away from the heaters, so I asked our server if we could move the heaters closer. I guess you couldn't because they were pretty large. I 100% understand that. However, instead of telling us this, she just avoided the question, shrugged, and walked away, leaving us pretty confused. Then, it took us 45 minutes for us to be given water and we were halfway through our meal. We ordered a chicken vindaloo and samosa. The vindaloo was $15 and included 3 pieces of chicken and 3 pieces of potatoes. The sauce tasted very watery and very bland -- kind of like a weak marinara sauce. I'm not a culinary expert, so I'm not sure if it was frozen and reheated, but I would guess so. The samosa was also really lacking in flavor and only saved by the accompanying pickled onions. But unfortunately, you can't make a meal out of pickled onions. :( read more

We walked in, it was pouring rain. They took our phone number and then set a table up for us right away. The great service didn't stop there. We came here on a Thursday evening at 7pm. There was no wait to sit. We ordered chicken tikka masala, vegetable curry, garlic naan and Momo. Both curries were so thin they were almost soup like. These two curries are a very staple dish that is typically consistent no matter where you are, at first we tried to chalk it up to the Nepalese/Himalayan influence but honestly they were not good, the vegetables tasted cheap and frozen ("seasonal vegetables" consisted of celery, potato, carrots and very freezer burnt tasting cauliflower) Overall do not recommend if you want Indian food, if you go in expected something totally different, it's a mediocre at best dining experience. read more

Cultural gem in the middle of Bar Harbor! My cousin and I came on the 4th of July (in the midst of a busy long weekend), so a wait was certainly to be expected, but the host checked in on us several times before we were seated. We ordered veg pakoras, veg biryani, chana masala and chai. All of which we would recommend. The service here is wonderful and the food is delicious. The owner made sure that we were taken care of and even moved the heat lamp closer to us upon noticing that we were a bit cold. I ordered the chicken tikka masala curry, and my mom got the coconut chicken curry. Both our dishes were amazing! I am a little confused eating at this restaurant. Their Indian dishes have a slight hint of Indian flavors but never really hit the mark. A classic dish such as curry should taste like curry but it did not. It was too sweet. Didn't even have the right color of what curry should look like. We ordered the lamb curry and there were hardly any lamb! For $20 buck, I felt like I should have had more than 3 pieces of lamb. Their chicken biryani and lamb Biryani were also just as bad. Had dinner here tonight and would definitely go back. Food was really good. Tandoori chicken came out in a sizzling plate and my son loved it. I had the jackfruit curry which was also delicious. Whether you are an avid Indian fan or not this is the place to go. The flavors of all the sauces and dipping sauces were perfect. We enjoyed wonderful lamb curry and chicken korma dishes.
