    Butter Naan

Horrible place, we visited from VA and ordered some food, they charged us $7 per naan and all naans are burned, all the food was horrible taste and quantity was little, on the top of it, they did not cared for our concerns. Please don't waste your money. Update: The owner called me over the phone after seeing my reviews on yelp. Unfortunately this level of defensiveness is just a reflection of their mistake. To give burnt naan, micro pakoras & arguing with a customer over requesting chutney instead of ketchup is not a problem I chose to have. This is just a heads up to anyone expecting more. Touristy prices are not an issue but customer service is an expectation.

Cute spot but the patio fills up quickly, so get here early if you want to sit outside (we arrived around 6:10 and had to sit inside to avoid a wait). We got three dishes to share and two naans (one garlic and one butter) which were all good! The naan was large but the garlic naan didn't taste of garlic. Overall the food was good and a much needed break from seafood. Like everyone in Bar Harbor, there is no attached parking but there's a pay lot across the street ($4/hour).

Seeking a vegetarian option, I found this place open for its last day of the season. The menu in person was a bit more limited that what I found online; notably I had hoped for veggie momos given the place had a bit of a Nepali flair, but they didn't have them. The options they did have were fairly basic. The dal that I ordered was fresh and had a complex spice mix, and the naan was fresh and crispy. It was a bit too much salt and frankly just not a ton of food for the money I paid. I was satisfied to have found something vegetarian, but I've had better.

    Disappointing Chicken Tikka Masala

We visited this restaurant on 10/12/25. We ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala, along with other dishes. However, when we received the food, we found the Chicken Tikka Masala to not be made in the traditional manner. We returned to the restaurant to ask for a refund or to switch this entree, to which the restaurant staff rudely declined. I would NOT come back here to order food again and would also WARN others to NOT come here if they are looking for top notch service. Go to another restaurant in Bar Harbor if you are looking for quality service and food. Come here if you want to be disappointed in the quality of service the restaurant staff offers customers! Update: We cut open the chicken and it was pink inside. The restaurant served us raw chicken. Do not come here.

We came in hungry and I love I Indian food. This is one of the best ever!! Because we're in Maine I got a lobster tandoori. The size was great!!! Perfect flavors. The sauce with it was super yummy and so was the rice. My husband had sahi paneer with no spice. It was really good and lots of cheese. Good naan too. We will come back!

Royal Indian is an excellent restaurant staffed by the most welcoming family and most creative kitchen team! Our food was delish! An earlier reviewer wrote, "I love when a place takes a local ingredient and does some fusion with another cuisine. Of course I'm talking about lobster in this case." This is a perfect reflection of Royal Indian. My wife did just this and it was the best choice. The presentation was lovely and it was so tasty! I chose a chicken dish given its 5-star recommendation on the menu, so tasty! We started with Samosas and pickled chutney. The garlic naan was a generous portion and served hot. It was a wonderful addition. The local brewer, Atlantic, supplies a "Bar Harbor Real Ale" and it too was the perfect accompaniment! The prices were reasonable (what a refreshing change from the rest of the restaurants in Bar Harbor) and I would return. Thank you and best wishes for a great season! Patrick Shaughnessy Chicago, IL

The only Indian restaurant in Bar Harbor area. The food was ok, I wouldn't say that it was amazing. We had the momos that were delicious. The saag paneer was just ok, too creamy and the chana masala was basic.

Butter naan, butter chicken, tandoori chicken

The staff was really kind and attentive. The food was SO GOOD and easily the best thing we ate in Bar Harbor. Especially after multiple days straight of American food it was so nice to have some different flavors. Some of the best Indian food I've ever had. Definitely go here!! I'd go again and again.

This is a shame, because the place brings a great culinary diversity to an area where others might, as I did, want to pull over on the way to Bar Harbor. Vegan options were plentiful, and I got my coconut-infused curry with chickpeas, receiving a zingy, spicy flavor. Their naan was somewhat unconventionally given as an appetizer with chutneys, but this worked fine for me and it was freshly grilled. The portion size for the price was not huge, and I was actually surprised that they didn't do traditional Sri Lankan dishes like kootu paratha, but I was happy that i pulled over, and the option remains to travelers for a little while longer.

The place has few tables and a tin ceiling, and played some awesome retro forties music. Divine. The mulligatawny stew was fab, had tons of chicken and a good broth. The butter chicken was superb and the naan fresh baked. What a delicious meal. We got dessert there, a Mom's cake, that was full of nuts and had a side of cream that blew us away. So good! The service was spot on and attentive. I cannot wait to go back--as long as it's winter. You can't get a table there in the summer months. That is ok by me--I like having the place to locals in the winter. It feels homey.

The bad thing about arriving after two is that there was a shift change, which meant that customers were seated but not served. We waited an hour for our appetizers. There were customers seated after us who got their entire meal and finished by the time we got served. Not the best way to treat customers. Fortunately, the food was great. The samosa appetizer was really good. I also had paneer korma which was out of this world. Flavor, flavor, flavor was the name of the game. I have not had any better, which was a very pleasant surprise. Florida has many Indian restaurants, and frankly, none of them come close. I can't wait to go through the menu!

Overall, I thought the spice levels were pretty tame (I could easily handle a 6 and I don't typically order over 4). We ordered many different dishes and shared them all. It was fabulous! They were very easily able to handle our group of 6, which was great. Our waitress was attentive and gave great suggestions and the meal was well paced, which we especially appreciated as we were seeing a show afterwards. Favorites included the saag paneer, chicken korma, and garlic naan. The mutter was also great! And the punugulu was the perfect appetizer for sharing. The masala (tea) was the only thing I wouldn't get again. It was fine, but not as rich and flavorful as other places I've had it.
