Got my nails done today for the first time in years! I chose this location based off of reviews and proximity to my office. Went right around 11 and was taken right away. I was very impressed with both the quality and the speed today. I got a gel manicure and was in and out in about 30 minutes. The tech was super nice and there was no forced awkward small talk which I greatly appreciated. THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE. I have been coming here for 10 years and it used to be great. There was always a full spa and a waiting room full of people. The past 3 times I have been, it has been nearly empty. The last 2 times, my nails were awful but I wanted to give them one more chance. This time was the worst. I had to stop them halfway through because they did such a bad job. My nails were so uneven and full of ridges where they filed them in stripes. Then the flooded each nail to the quick with polish so there were different heights of the nails. It was so bad. This time, I was the only person in the salon for 2 hours. I paid and then came back and asked for a refund so I could get them redone. They reluctantly refunded me and then they reported it as FRAUD, I guess so they could keep my money or something. WHAT?!! I'm so ticked. I wasted 2 hours and my nails look like garbage. I have zero time to get them done before a big meeting. No wonder this place is empty. They are terrible. This place they actually socialize with you, it's clean, and most importantly they don't hound you to get the most expensive service there is! I have an infant at home, so time is of the essence. Not friendly to the handicap community. When the staff saw my wheelchair, I felt as if I was not welcome. I had an appointment for today with my girlfriend. I am so happy to have come across a nail salon in Charleston that does an amazing and absolutely flawless job. I've been twice thus far - once for my pedicure and the second time for my full set. Pedicure was great for the price and super relaxing. For my nails, I usually get a full set with shellac polish. I was shocked to know that it was only $55. I've paid much less for nail jobs that weren't even close to as good as this place! I also have not had to wait very long to be services! I used to just drop by the closest nail salon whenever I was in the mood for a manicure or pedicure. Then I met Q at Royal Nails and Spa. Q and the others are so kind and want to make sure you leave as a happy customer. They have a clean store which I greatly appreciate. Also they all talk and interact with their customers. This is a great place if you want your appointments cancelled and rescheduled without your knowledge. Just to be clear, this the West Ashley location near Panera's and Game Stop.They will blame it on the computer or say they don't know what happened. I missed 1 appointment in a year and half with Quynh. Feeling sorry that I missed the appointment, I purchased a card and even gave her the money that I would've spent for the missed appointment. Quynh stated she could not take that money but would apply as a credit towards my next appointment. After that, my next appointment was scheduled for three weeks out and they canceled and rescheduled it at a time that fit them or either they slid a new customer in that spot. When I got to the salon, they said I never had an appointment when clearly the phone reminder I showed stated otherwise. As Quynh started doing my nails, she said, "now we're even."! I asked her what she said, and she repeated it. It was at that point, I knew I needed to find another nail tech. The service you get on your nails is great but the customer service is very poor. I should've never had my nail tech tell me "we're even" after only missing 1 appointment. Now, I have a new technician (found immediately after this incident), they called today 10/21/23 to tell me since I am late and have not come to appointments (missed 1) they could not schedule any more appointments (lol). Laughing, I told them I have a nail technician so I am good; just got my deluxe paraffin mani and pedi done today. I briefly explained I did not like what Quynh said and hung up. BEST nail salon experience ever. I've been getting dip powder for years, all over the world. I went down the street to another salon and had a terrible experience. The nail tech at the other salon soaked off my polish and then WHILE I WAS SOAKING, told me the dip mani would be $95! I asked to speak to a manager and the nail tech told me she couldn't work with me because I was too difficult. I wanted dipped nude nails with some gold flake - no design, no painting, little effort and $95?! I left and went to Royal nails. I have been on the hunt for over a year since I moved here to charleston for a good go to spot for my nails and it had gotten to the point that I just didn't have them done for 5 months! My word... yuck I know. I have been wanting the ombré French tip look and couldn't find anyone who could do and was starting to give up when I decided on a whim to give this place a shot. They weren't busy at all when she said it was going to be a 20 minute wait which I was willing to wait but decided to go with a pedi as well. She was gentle when she should have been and did a great job. I wasn't super super impressed with the pedi and I even got the higher end option but I think I'll stick with the basic. My nails turned out PERFECT! It was scary to put full trust into a new nail salon but no one made a fuss when I showed them my picture and they really couldn't have been better. The interior was very accommodating with jazz music playing, free soda/water, and felt like a fun but relaxed atmosphere. Lee was my nail artist, and was very attentive. He gave me enough time to select my color and did not rush my stay in the least.Throughout the process, he ensured that length and shape was correct before proceeding with color. Went in 3/27/19 for my first ever nail "extensions." I am a terrible nail biter and made sure to ask if this would work for me. The girl who answered phone and set up the appointment was super sweet and helpful. Unfortunately, they made the appointment with G, a man at seat 5. Here are my complaints: 1. The first half of the appointment his phone buzzed super frequently and he kept checking it. Even answered once. The second half he spent most of his time chatting with the woman doing nails next to him. (Not in English.) 2. I told him it was my first time ever, but he didn't explain anything to me clearly. Just showed me colors and asked what I wanted. Then he steered me to a pink. He seemed uninterested and rushed. 3. He really wasn't paying any attention to what I was saying. I told him I wanted a French style nail. At the end, when he "dismissed" me, with only the pink, I said "when do you do the French part?" He said I didn't ask for French, just the pink. So I didn't get my French style. I DID tell him I wanted French; unfortunately due to his original busyness with his phone and his lack of explanation and his rushing, HE didn't understand me. If I had known he wasn't doing French I would have chosen a different color. I am really disgusted by his lack of customer care. 4. He was rough! 5. He recommended I use Vaseline on my hands at night, which was a good tip, but then proceeded to tell me he uses it on his butt! Crude and inappropriate. Then they laughed and said he was just joking. Not funny. Rude. 6. I think The price on the menu board said $50 for powder nails. He charged me $55. At that point, I just wanted out. So I paid and tipped him (shouldn't have tipped.) It took almost 3 hours as they had some confusion about who was doing what. They do frequently talk amongst themselves in their language and for the most part the younger staff can speak/understand English. I just had the worst experience of my life at this nail salon! I went to get my nails done to relax and have time away from my kids, and the person who did my nails made me feel horrible making my experience horrible. I guess something I said ,very innocent and meaningless, she took the wrong way. Then she just didn't make eye contact or speak to me the rest of the time she was doing my manicure. She rushed through my manicure and didn't even tell me to wash my hands! I've been to the salon many times and had great experiences, but I will never return again! This was completely unprofessional and left me leaving in tears. I would not recommend this salon at all. They are supposed to make clients happy and make the environment relaxing and less stressful, and I feel like after leaving I'm more stressed than before and I have two small children!!! read more

I'm writing this review immediately to prove a point that I was not 15 min late to my scheduled appointment at noon. It is just now 12:15 pm and when I was signing in roughly 8 min ago (12:07 pm) the lady had the audacity to tell me to call when I was going to be late, as someone who has worked in a service field for years there is ALWAYS a certain margin of time cushion you give the customer. I would also like to start by mentioning that I called the day before to ask for 3 pedicures (even told her one was for a child!) and I was informed they did not have any slots available at 11:00 or 11:30. However when we walked in EVERY SINGLE seat was open (roughly about 6-7 seats). Although the lady has a soft tone she is not very customer service oriented. When I told her that I got stuck at the light (not to mention I had to walk back to my car for a mask- and I'm managing a young child.) she persisted to guilt trip me stating they were "waiting" for me. I was so unimpressed I took the two others I was with and left. There is far too many other nail salons to spend my money at that will treat me with grace. **Update: after ready the owners response it is evident to any person in a service field that customer service is not something this business is concerned with. I do admit I was running slightly behind as I wasn't 15 minutes early, this whole fiasco could have easily of been avoided had the business approached the situation differently. For the owner here is some free advice: 1) due to covid as you expressed, alternate your seating, meaning every other seat may be occupied while you sanitize the unoccupied seats. This will help with the flow of customers and prevent a further issue with "people waiting". 2) instead of making the snide comment deduct the amount of time the customer was late off of their services. This will ensure you stay on time but are still able to give the customer the satisfaction of your service. 3) if you're truly concerned with sanitation due to covid, do not have people not being serviced (weather employee or otherwise) sitting in your "freshly sanitizer " seats. And last but not least if we're to live by your words 4) be sure to call EVERY SINGLE CUSTOMER and let them know that they are not going to be getting their service at the exact scheduled time. It is a lot easier for you to stop what you're doing pick up the phone, inform the customer you're behind by 10 min, as opposed to me fumbling for my phone in the car while driving or at a stop light that is right outside the complex to let you know I'm going to be late. It's called mutual respect, never expect your customer to do something that you yourself would not do. Hope you find this information helpful. And also, I did find a business that was a lot more welcoming but also filled all covid protocols without any hiccups. The place is called So Nice Nails and is located by tanger outlet. The bad: had an issue with software for debit card and I had to call back to find out their system needed an update The ugly: the man told me the bank/nearest atm was a mile away when he thought the decline was my fault. This happened a while back but since I had a bad experience at another nail salon today it reminded me of this experience and why I won't go here anymore. I've never been unsatisfied with the services I received here but there was one occurrence that pushed me away. I was getting a manicure, it was myself and 1-2 other women inside and 5 or so employees. I'd been here plenty of times, a few of which with my husband. Anyway, an African American man came in looking for a basic manicure or pedicure, I don't recall which. They told him no and to come back later, around 7. They close at 7 M-F and at 5 on Sundays. Two of their employees were laying in the pedicure chairs playing on their phones. At first I wasn't sure what I witnessed and could be blowing it out of proportion, but to me it looked like they deliberately refused service to an African American man. I won't support a company that refuses service to anyone, whether it be based on gender, skin color, food preferences or anything else. read more
