Not happy with my experience when looking at the full picture. I had a hot tub panel install on…read more11/2020 and paid a premium for it due to the holiday season and booking backups. They had an opening and a good rating online, so we decided to go with them. This March (3/2026) as I was freshening up my hot tub for spring, I noticed that only half the jets were working on only one side of the tub. I started troubleshooting what might be the issue and eventually made my way to the electrical box for the hot tub unit. I opened it up and noticed what looked like corrosion on the key/plug. When I pulled it out and gave it a closer look, I noticed that 3/4 main wires were completely fried or corroded. Yikes, that is probably the issue. When I called Mr. Electric's service center, I was met with no concern (Oh my, that doesn't sound good - yeah, you think?) and no offer to come out and inspect the work and then repair the issue (past the warranty period), just that another technician could come out and do the repair work for us. Why would I pay for your techs to come out when I'm experiencing shoddy work from you guys already? I pay a professional to do the job right, the first time around, so that I don't have to get things re-done and spend more money. With the track record I already had with them, I opted to not re-hire. I instead went with my main HVAC/electrical/plumbing company who came out and repaired and cleaned everything up (and stands by their work every time). When talking to the electrician who came out, he mentioned the reason this whole thing happened was because the wires were not tightened correctly during the initial install, one of the wires became loose overtime, overheated and then fried the other ones. The box that housed the electrical unit was closed and always locked with a padlock (so that my kids wouldn't open it up and messed around with it). When I mentioned that to the electrician, he said it was probably a poor install from the get-go. I'm so glad I caught it when I did, I hate to think the harm this incompetent install could have caused to my house and family. Not sure if those loose & overheated wires could have caused a house fire but I wouldn't want to risk it regardless. I will never hire this company again.

My garage door opener failed after a short power outage and I had Precision Door come out to…read moreinvestigate. They said the opener was dead and that there were issues with the 15 year old door, which they showed me. I chose to have a whole new door and opener installed. This was just completed and I have no issues with the materials and workmanship except that I think they should have spent some time explaining the use of the menu on the wall mounted control panel. I'm quite computer literate but some guidance would have helped. Recommended.

Home Warranty Claim…read more Im going to start this out by saying I'm sure Precision Garage Door Twin Cities does wonderful work but be weary of them if they are answering to a home warranty claim. Mine in particular was HSA Home Warranty. Last week my garage door opener failed, along with it at the same time the spring snapped. The gear and sprocket on the opener had broke and the door came crashing down. When that happened the spring snapped. All of my equipment was from 2002. So it did its job for 22 years, pretty impressive! The Precision Garage Door Technician was sent out within a day to come and look at it. (Good on them) When he showed up, he checked everything out. He mentioned to me that the spring was too small for the door. Which is interesting, we will get to that later. He then started the process of calling the Home Warranty company to see if I was covered. He told them the opener had failed due to the wrong size spring installed on my door. The home warranty company denied my coverage. The technician then began to work on a quote for fixing the situation for me. He said that the garage door opener was too old to be fixed and that he would need install a new one($675) a bigger spring on my door($330) cables($122) new vertical door tracks($186) new bearings($37) and new bottom brackets($87) for a grand total of $1437. I was shocked. I need to get in my garage but this price was a lot more than I wanted to spend right before Christmas. I was very upset about the situation so I called the home warranty company a total of 5 times, I went back and forth with them about my coverage. In the contract it says they cover the garage door opener. They finally agreed to send out a second garage door company to inspect it. The second garage door company, inspected it, and let me know that in fact, the spring that was installed on my door was not too small. This is what I mentioned we would get back to you later. The spring was the correct size for my garage door. The second garage door company called HSA Home Warranty and explained to them the situation. He was able to fix the garage door at no cost to me covered under my home warranty. I believe that Precision Garage Door Twin Cities was just trying to make a sale. They did not care about doing what's right for the customer. And I believe they lied about being able to fix my garage door opener in order to sell a new unit to me. The second garage door company had the part for my garage door in their truck and they were able to fix my 22-year-old garage door opener. Everything is working great now. I did not need to spend $1437. Like I said in my first paragraph, I'm sure they do great work but be weary of these large corporate service companies just trying to make a sale and not fix things that could be fixed.
