My car shopping journey is done! I didn't wind up buying from Royal, but my overall experience was a lot better than years ago. I can't remember the name of the guy that helped me, but it felt like he was very open and transparent in his approach. He was very much a salesman and hit a lot of the buttons they are supposed to. In my particular case I think it came down to the fact that the car in my price range had some potential hidden problems I wasn't comfortable with. He offered to note everything on a "we owe" sheet that would ensure my concerns were addressed. He was respectful and listened to my mad ramblings. He even asked which sort of seating was comfortable for me and my bad back. He did a lot to repair my view of Royal dealers. This location has some pretty high end stuff, and he showed the sheet with the basics from the service department. My budget was not flexible and I was set on a hybrid. It just didn't happen here this time. Had he been less respectful or too pushy, I would not rate 4 stars. I feel like he hit a nice balance of listening to my needs and offering something that might work for me. He made me think hard about my decision, and it wasn't easy for me to walk away, but it's what was necessary. I left feeling much better about Royal than I had in the past. read more

What a fantastic SUV and what great service we received from Jared and the guys. Very impressed with everyone at Royal on the Eastside. They are to go to folks if you really want a great deal on a new or used vehicle. They actually took the time to explain everything my wife had questions about. - Misleading Trade-In Experience and Questionable Ethics We brought our vehicle to this dealership for a trade-in, and they pulled up a CarFax report showing structural damage. Based on that, they told us the car was only worth $500. It felt like we didn't have much choice, so we accepted the offer. Not long after, we saw the exact same vehicle on their lot and listed on their website for $6,000--with no mention of any structural damage. So they either exaggerated the issue to give us a lowball offer, or they're now trying to sell a car with known structural damage without disclosing it to potential buyers. Either scenario is shady. It's dishonest, manipulative, and completely erodes trust. If this is how they handle trade-ins, I'd be very wary of doing any kind of business with them. read more

Waited over 3 hours just to get a tire fixed, and everyone else in the waiting room had been waiting over 2 hours as well. No management was present to help explain or address the long wait times. Service was neither helpful nor quick, and the lack of communication made the experience even worse. read more

Wonderful experience with the drive-up (express) service for a flat tire. Everyone was so helpful! Heather took the flat tire, found the correct replacement, and handled the whole process while reassuring the very distraught customer (me). Worst Subaru service I have ever had in 3 states. They took forever even getting back to me to get scheduled. Took a few more weeks getting simple parts and mud flaps etc.. Ordered the wrong parts, so I had to go back. It took several hours to get done what usually takes 30 min or so. I also think they gave me a bogus diagnostic. When I asked what the read out meant the sales person said well sometimes it is accurate and sometimes it is not. They told me I needed new shocks and allingment as well. I took it to another place for a second opinion as it all seemed a bit odd to me and they did not agree that all of this was even an issue. I will not be back or waist my time. When I brought weeks worth of concerns (as it was well over a month ordeal for the whole thing) the sales guy was like whelp, sorry and that was it. I purchased a used 2017 Terrain Denali and they said it was only 1 owner and it was garage kept. Since I purchased this vehicle 4/16/2021, I've replaced it with 4 transmissions going on #5. I found out that it wasn't one owner, there were two. It was also in curry for repairs. I wouldn't buy anything from them if it was given to me. Service is awful. Had our 2021 Audi Q7 still under factory warranty for 5 weeks due to Audi pre-sense unavailable and Emergency SOS unavailable dash lights . It was declared fixed and I went to pick it up but none of the cameras worked and they needed to keep it. They had it for an additional 5 weeks and enlisted the help of the Audi regional field engineer. I picked it up and on the second day the dash lights up "Audi pre-sense unavailable and emergency SOS unavailable". Emailed Preston to bring it back for further service only to be told that they were "no longer in the Audi loaner program". Interesting because my loaner for 10 weeks was a Subaru Forester. I ended up trading the Q7 for a Lexus just to avoid the horrible service. read more

Me and my wife went to this fly by night car dealer. My wife hit a snag on the credit part. That's not their fault. But running my already horrible credit that I have been working to fix the mistakes that I made when I was to young and smart to listen 6 times. I mean 6 hard and deep inquiries. I lost over 58 pts on my credit because of this overpriced twat in the financial office. My wife same thing. You know we didn't get approved for the car the first time you ran the credit. Ok fine we can try again next year after we finish fixing a few things and save up a little more for a better down payment . Apparently after we left someone ran my and wife's credit FIVE MORE TIMES. I have each and every letter from the banks,credit industry's that they have sent me and my wife. All time and dated when the inquiry was sent. If ether one of us received one more i will find the correct kind of dirty under the bridge lawyer that can put the kind of spin that this kind of bullshit deserves. As far as I am concerned each time that this dealership used my and my wife's SSI# without the permission is fraud. I may not be correct about it. But that's what it feels like seeing that my credit score has suffered from their shady practices. I recommend that any one who is looking for a better vehicle don't go here. Avoid this place as they seem to provide the worst possible experience. Tried to scam us on a lease buyout and then later on service. 1. They attempted to add a couple thousand dollars to the lease purchase amount Nissan gave me, and then stalled for 45 minutes hoping I would leave. 2. Serviced my wife's VW and her stock radio stopped working after the appt. They told me she needed a new radio for $1000. Repair forums suggested VAG-COM scan tool could repair the anti-theft function dealer had accidental activated. Tried to charge us $100 to fix their mistake. Service manager was unprofessional and actually accused me of "ripping him off" when I asked them to repair the radio they had broken. read more

went in for a break pad check on an Audi. i received a message from them requesting to do maintenance on my timing chain and my side gas door. total coming to around $4,000 not even mentioning the break pads in the maintenance request. they tried to tell me the car was in bad shape and that if I didn't get it fixed something bad was going to happen to the engine. just got my car back from the second opinion who has done maintenance on this car before to hear that they took the car apart and looked at everything to find that everything is in tip top shape and there is no maintenance needed..... not sure what the goal was other than to try to scare me and take my money but it's safe to say I will not be back here. read more

Drove up from Georgia and some large metal piece from a truck flew up from the highway and lodged itself in the front grill of my van. I took it to Royal to have them look at it, because it's where my parents have their Subaru serviced. Without making an appointment, they looked at it immediately, removed the piece, checked my tire pressure, filled three tires with air and added tire caps that were missing from two tires. No charge! They were so kind and even suggested I make an insurance claim on the damage to the grill. I highly recommend the service department here! read more

After five years, time to find a new service center. Spent $1k on normal maintenance but service tech failed to reinstall a gasket properly, resulting in an oil leak so bad it's a wonder we didn't either burn the garage down or burn out our engine on the highway. They admitted it was their fault but with a shrug and a "people make mistakes" excuse. Spent days back and forth with Sandy in customer service who sang a good tune about how "we strive to make every customer happy" but who refused to acknowledge the loss of the use of our car for several days was worth a reimbursement of some of the labor costs (since the labor sucked). Sandy offered us a $63 oil change. That didn't even cover the Uber rides we had to take. Buh-bye, Royal Subaru. read more

We had a low tire pressure warning on our way to an IU football game on Saturday October 15. After attempting to fill it at 2 service stations' "paid air" with no success we pulled into this dealership. We were promptly treated to air and had all of our tires checked. I don't recommend buying a car here at all, my certified car is already having mechanical issues - after one month off the lot - that they would not even look at or offer to fix. Worst Subaru dealership in the US. Customer service doesn't exist at all unless you're buying new that day. Coming back the next day? You no longer matter. Did you get an extended warranty from Subaru for $5,000? Well hopefully you don't want to use it here. The service department does not answer the phone. Ever. I literally mean ever. Maybe you should leave a voicemail? Don't bother, I left 3 over a weeks time and no one contacted me. Reception is the absolute worst. The person working the phones the evening of 5/3 has no business being in customer service. She clearly hates her job and doesn't even provide the slightest bit of service. She needs to be in the back of a kitchen where she can be rude and no one will see it. Not being able to get ahold of your service department for more than a week is unacceptable. And your receptionist telling me "Well they're busy, what do you want them to do?" Maybe if they're too busy to answer the phone or return voicemails they should have someone schedule for them. I have only ever had a positive outlook on Subaru but after my experience with this dealership, I will look to get away from the brand. They clearly don't check out their dealerships and allow them to run like a short staffed Kmart. No customer service, ghetto, rude, entitled, employees. If I could give 0 stars I would. Such a disappointment. Hopefully management can get their act together and not have people like this working for them and actually have people to answer the phone in departments. STAY AWAY! Beware! Not crazy about the dealership period but NEVER take your alloy wheels there to be be repaired. They quoted me a price of $110 to fix the wheel and when I went to pick it up, they charged me close to $200 because they said the rim was bent also. There is NO way I believe it was bent but since it was my word against his I had not way to dispute it. Plus they put the wheel bolts (VW) on so tight I broke a ratchet and my buddies socket with an AIRGUN and still couldn't get it off to put my snow tires on. Never again!! read more

Service review. I took my Subaru here for warranty work as the Indy dealerships were all weeks behind to get an appointment. I felt a little bad going here for warranty work only as I had just had my oil changed and didn't need any other services. No worries. The service team was very professional, fixed the problem, and assured me to come back if warranty issues arose again. The person I dealt with was just a typical slithery salesman. I was going to buy regardless and I didn't need the slitheriness to along with it. Reminds me to check for slither oil in my car. One time I wanted to trade in a car there and someone who gave me some real BS reasoning of how much the car was worth. I already checked out NADA, Edmunds, and KBB so I had a reasonable estimate of how much it was worth but this guy low-balled me with something like 90% of the value. I get you need to make money on the sale but low-balling like that is pretty insulting. From my experience, the slithering behavior is something to watch out for with some of these guys. Needless to say "though saying" I didn't sell the car. The shuttle is nice but that's pretty much the standard for a dealership these days. Also, I'm not on hold for a long time when I need something so they get a star for that. ***********update*********** Went to get my brakes fixed. Said I need my brakes fixed because the back is worn away and I think it may the brake hose or calipers. Quoted me 1000 dollars and I said no thanks. Before I took the car they made me pay around 50 dollars for "telling me I needed to change either the brake hose or calipers". Said "at least now you know what's wrong". Called to get my vehicle (2004 VW Golf with 87k miles) diagnosed and hopefully pay them to get it fixed. Surprise! If you're car is more than ten years old they won't work on it! A dealership that sells VW won't work on a VW if it's more than a decade old. Apparently there have been gigantic milestones in vehicle evolution in 10 years and they can't keep those kind of tools around. I advise to steer clear of the service department here. I noticed every time I'd leave after having my Audi serviced I had problems. The most recent issue was due to low coolant throwing an engine code. Filled coolant up but couldn't reset and clear the code so I took it in. After the ran a "diagnostic test' they told me my water pump was bad and it would cost $1700 to fix. Knowing better I took it to another dealer and after checking the code was in fact due to low coolant. There is no way to tell if a water pump is bad from a diagnostic test. Again steer clear of this place. read more

I went here to get my locking lugnuts removed. I needed 3 removed (one was already off), and they replaced them with regular lugs. It took over an hour and cost $50 total ($20 labor and $30 for parts), which seems like a lot to me. Before getting it done, they quoted a price of $35. I was disappointed in the cost and the amount of time it took. If I would've known it would cost $50, I would've found a way to do it myself. Worst customer service from any dealer, of any kind of retail, I've ever experienced. I've had two separate cars at Royal , both times I've dropped my car off for basic services and both times my car has been there for three to four days beyond expected due to the complete lack of urgency from the service representatives. No update calls on my car's status , no contact when services couldn't be performed due to insufficient parts or broken service equipment. These guys work with the attitude that your time and car issues are not their problem. Clearly their service manager has no idea what is going on OR he doesn't care. Bought a used car here and they seemed really helpful. They worked with me on the price to get it down to what I considered a reasonable price. We worked out some details that needed attention before I was willing to sign the contract. When I went back to get the car the salesman I was working with was "conveniently" not there. The guy(s) taking over for him weren't aware of any of the contract details and said "that's not a problem" to some of my request." When I asked to for certain things to be addressed before taking the car they said they would have to talk to the original salesman I was dealing with. They weren't able to get a hold of him (again, how convenient for them). One of the things I asked for was the missing rear floor mat. I know it may sound like a little detail and it is. This should be no problem for them to get since they are a dealership. It has been over a month since my purchase and the salesman still continues to feed me lines about how it's been sent, he will check on it, and "the business office is closed, I will get back to you first of the week." Still no floor mat. Even worse than that, they were supposed to put new rear brakes and rotors on the car but when I got home and took my car in for general maintenance (oil change, etc) the mechanic told me the rear rotors were worn but still had plenty of life left. I was confused considering they were supposed to be new. Unless they rubbed the whole way home I couldn't figure out how that was possible. The mechanic informed me that this wasn't the case or the pads would have been worn too. I contacted the salesman who text me a picture of the work order saying the job was completed. These people are some shady MFers. DO NOT SIGN ANY CONTRACT WITH THEM UNTIL ALL DETAILS ARE COVERED AND MET. THEY WILL THROW YOU SHADE ONCE YOU ARE OUT THE DOOR WITH YOUR BUY. BE SURE YOU SAY "OUT THE DOOR" ON THE FINAL PRICE NEGOTIATIONS. The hit me with over $400 in "dealership taxes and fees." They try to act like they are working in your best interest but at the end of the day all they want to do is get that initial sale. Once you are off their lot they couldn't care less about customer satisfaction. This is the first negative review I have ever written. Usually if I'm unhappy with service I just don't ever return. But this time I can't let anyone else get cheated. If you are looking for a dealership that will take care of you check out Bluegrass Motorsport. It's a bit of the beatin path from Bloomington, IN but at least you won't be lied to and cheated out of contract details because the salesman you were dealing with is conveniently not there the day you are supposed to finalize the deal. Took car here for oil change. Had an appointment. Took 5 hours. They replaced the filter wrong and oil sprayed all over engine. Had to have car towed back. Engine cleaned and oil changed again. Lost a day of work. Total hassle. No call from Service Manager after messages left. No call from store manager after emails left. Don't service ur car here. In fact, don't buy your car here. Travel to Indy where they are at least competent. read more

Although the staff are very friendly and the shuttle service/drivers are excellent, I would NOT have your vehicle serviced here. I used to have my 2014 VW serviced with Royal until I discovered they failed to even perform a simple oil change correctly. Twice my car was serviced properly but the last oil change I received from Royal they put my car a qt low on oil. One they didn't charge me for the appropriate amount of oil. Secondly, when my oil was found to be in terrible shape and I had a premature oil change done the mechanic measured the drained amount. My mechanic then called VW of America to confirm the proper oil volume, since the measured volume was insufficient per the owner's manual. It was then I checked my service records with Royal to see if all of my oil changes had been performed incorrectly. Back when this occurred I called the service department to report the incident I barely received an apology. Since it was just the one service interval I was told it was "unlikely" to have caused any permanent damage to my engine. Fast forward 2 years and ~20k miles I am now having to have a complete timing chain and tensioner replacement costing upwards $3,000. When I asked why a 5 year old car with 90k miles would require such a costly repair (not something included in recommended service to even check for wear) I was told it was likely due to poor maintenance of oil changes (which I have had done at recommended intervals since I purchased the car). I can't confirm this failure is a direct result of Royal's poor service but I believe without a doubt was a contributing factor. I wouldn't risk the longevity of your vehicle with their technicians, its cheaper to drive to Indianapolis than to pay for engine repairs... read more

My car was never repaired, in fact it got worse, and their customer service is really invasive and made me feel uncomfortable. Buying the car was ok, online contact was a little pushy but mellowed some when I went to dealership. Like other posters I find the service dept. to be inefficient, won't call with information, and really could care less about my problem. Within one week of owning my Outback, on an interstate trip I got lots of vibration in the steering wheel at 70 mph. Let them know and was told they would check it out, which they did on the 60 day check up. I was told it was a "road force" of 29 and that wasn't good so they moved the tire to the back. I said I rotate my tires and it seems like the problem will just resurface then, no comment. When contacted to see how my service went I told the lady of my concern and she said she would check with service and I would get a call that day. 6 days went buy without a contact although I tried several times. Finally my salesman was back in town and I asked him to check and he told me I had been contacted and that Subaru would not replace the tire. I checked several tire dealers in town and was told that if a "match-balance " was not performed the problem would still be there. Finally told that Royal doesn't do match-balance unless instructed to apparently by a higher authority. I asked what wheel the tire in question was now on and was told that NO One knew. I have contacted Subaru Corporate and am now waiting to see what they say. Pretty obvious that once the sale is made they really don't care and my sales guy seems to have reverted to his original demeanor. read more

We were on our way over to buy a car from Ryan Allen. We had agreed on a price via email and phone. He knew we were coming over. He called us back to tell us that someone in Ohio is on the phone and is going to buy the car. Royal sold the car to the Ohio buyer. What a horrible (and stupid) way to do business. We are in the market of buying 2 cars and he knew that. Royal lost 2 deals with us. Several friends told me that they have had bad experiences with Royal. I would never buy a car from Royal. Not a single salesperson of the 5 or so hanging around the Subaru lot at the tent sale either stood up to help me or responded to the Mazda salesperson I'd been working with, who asked for an experienced salesperson for me. Nope, no one could be bothered. They called on a young woman who was too new at the job to be of any help. They acted as if I wasn't worth their effort. They tried to sell me a Subaru with a blown head gasket. When I discovered the problem they didn't want to fix it. They said if I didn't want the car they'd be happy to keep my 500-dollar deposit and send me out the door. They told me I'd have to pay full price for the repair. They said they'd lower the price of the car and include the repair in the price. So, I did have them fix it and down the road the timing belt tensioner exploded and I'm lucky it didn't destroy the engine. What they didn't tell me was they were only going to do half the job. I figured out they fixed the head gasket but just slapped another timing belt on the car without changing the other components. For that they still charged me $1900. I'd stay away from this dealership. Now I have to pay 1500-dollars to another mechanic to fix what would have just cost some parts while they had the engine out of the car. read more
