(But she's so good at knowing what I love, she doesn't even need to look back at those notes anymore). I sit in her chair and she does her thing! -she cares about you as a person -- she'll remember personal things about you and will ask if that thing at work or in life is getting better. Going to Shan is like affordable HairApy -- (a great cut and someone to listen) -she's flexible. Shan is willing to come in earlier than normal to fit you in if that works best for your life. Things about the Sensations Salon: -it's perfectly located in the Highlands 1 block from Bardstown and Eastern (across from Mark's Feed Store) -plenty of easy parking behind the salon -the interior and decor is clean, "highlands classy chic". It's upscale-ish, but not snoody -they offer tea, water, coffee for their clients -in addition to hair, they offer massage, tanning and mani/pedi's I was super impressed with the space and wouldn't trust anyone but Shan to do my hair!

I called to book a deep tissue massage for 50 minutes, with the massage you can use the pool and facilities before or after your treatment. The spa has a very relaxing vibe and was very comfortable. I arrived about 30 minutes before my appointment. I had a short wait since there was only one person at the front desk and there were helping other clients at the time. When it was my turn, I was warmly greeted and given a tour of the facility. The changing rooms are right off the main lobby area, and I was guided around the area and advised on what was available to use. I decided to change and then head to the relaxation room to await my massage. The room had flavored water and hot tea available, as well as a few packaged snacks. There were several Lounge chairs available with sheer curtains to provide some privacy. My massage therapist arrived right around my massage time and took me to my room. She was very nice and explained the process and asked if I had any areas of concern. Unfortunately the massage wasn't great, I had opted for a deep tissue massage, but not a lot of pressure was used. She also never checked in with me during the massage and it ended a bit early. The facility is beautiful and next time I will try a facial or another service since I loved the atmosphere so much.

McKenna at the front desk was a delight to work with to schedule my appointment. I had a bunch of questions about the menu and she answered them very cheerfully. She was very accommodating with my schedule and put me first. Ease of scheduling was a chef's kiss. That was enough for me to expect what was to come next. The spa is located in the Galt House hotel, but let that not deter you from seeking services. This review applies to the locals as well...as I'm a local. The best part is that they offer free parking at the Galt House hotel. If you live in the area, you know how terrible traffic can be. For the first time in my life, traveling to downtown Louisville did not make me anxious and nervous about parking because of the free parking Pelo West offers. The parking garage could be confusing so pay attention to signs but you will eventually make it to the 17th floor of the building. The salon has a very warm, welcoming vibe. Bright colors, good quality candles and light lingering smells all throughout the salon. The minute you step off the elevator. You are greeted by McKenna, the receptionist who is great at what she does. I opted to do 30 minutes of sauna (free with certain services) before my treatments. The surroundings were clean and the sauna area was well stocked with essentials. It is a nice little cozy dry sauna. The stiffest of muscles will relax. There's a radio that you can control in case it tickles your fancy. Coming to the services I got the Pelo signature facial 50 minutes, first. The room was nice and cozy and the temperature was just perfect. Their massage beds are heated which was definitely a cherry on the top. Gabby, my facialist did a quick consultation before diving into the actual procedure. She made me feel very comfortable and insisted that I relax to my best capacity. She just knew I needed it... Maybe it was written on my face ha! At one point, I drifted into the best little semi snooze you can imagine but I think I counted 9 steps in the facial procedure. I have to say every single product she used smelled amazing (and edible lol) and transported me to somewhere far away. Gabby has extremely gentle hands which my facial skin was surprised to experience as that is not how I treat my own face. Gentle, expert, firm pressure, and a constant touch are Gabby's strengths. She is a pro at this and it was evident. Gabby counseled me on the right steps for a healthy skin which I made notes of. Loved Gabby! Than I was handed over for a gel pedicure woth Peyton. My first impression of Peyton was lovely and kind. My comfort was her priority. By the time I had even made it to my pedicure station, a chilled champagne was waiting for me. Peyton is extremely detail oriented and took enough time with each of my toes to make sure all of the pedicure steps were perfect. At one point I really thought to myself about the dedication Peyton was putting into my pedicure. I probably have never experienced that before! I was so relaxed after my facial that the pedicure was a smooth, quiet time for me. Loved every minute of the vibe, peppy music, cleanliness, ambience, and smiles from staff members while getting my feet did. Peyton's detail-oriented but very gentle hands made the whole experience wonderful. I think the only thing I was missing was probably a body massage but I could not fit that in my schedule today lol. Shout out to Nema and Kaitlyn for running such an excellent spa in the heart of Louisville. The spa is not just for the hotel Members but also for the locals. Getting a flu shot had been on my to-do list for the past month. I am the last in my house to get one, even including my pup. (Yep, in case you don't know, dogs need flu shots too.) So I went on Walgreens' site, chose my desired Walgreens location and chose my desired time. There were lots of openings. At my time, I went to the pharmacy, and the pharmacist had me sit at a chair by the pharmacy and gave me my shot -- red Walgreens Band-aid and all. I was done within about five minutes of walking in. And even better yet, my insurance covered 100 percent of the cost. When another immunization comes along -- fingers crossed, COVID-19 -- Walgreens might be a good option.
