This was the best Indian food I have ever eaten. The Naan was amazing, it was fresh baked, warm and the perfect crunchy and chewy. I had the vegetable curry, which wasn't sweet, I don't usually like curry because it is too sweet with the coconut milk. This was tomato based and not sweet at all. The service was great also! We had a layover in Baltimore traveling from Dallas to Providence. We were famished after an early 7:30 am flight! We searched Yelp and thought we would give this place a try. After all, pictures and reviews can be misleading. We walked in at noon and saw a few ppl dining in. The restaurant was small and quaint. We were greeted and seated. I noticed a small buffet on the back wall. I was surprised. Buffets are not my favorite! I went to the restroom and it was clean. I went to the buffet and begin to help myself. Everything was neat and tidy. Nothing appeared to be contaminated and egregious. I tried a little of everything on my plate and proceeded to indulge . My husband walked by and I gave him a smile and nod of approval! 45 minutes my plate was clean!! Only thing remaining was bones from the goat!! Folks the food was amazing!!! Everything was fresh!!! The young guy that waited on us was hospitable and even brought us a rice pudding desert at the end of the meal. I had the butter chicken with medium heat. It was creamy and the spice was nice. I give this establishment a five star rating. The butter chicken did not draw me in, but the tandoori chicken brought me ALL THE WAY IN. The customer service was awesome. Our group was going to go elsewhere for lunch but the wait was over 1 hour so we drove here at the last minute. They had plenty of vegetarian options as well as gluten-free option for a friend. Best Indian food I have ever had. We started with Gobi Manchurian which wa slightly crisp and so full of flavor that we didn't really want to share it. Our dinner was Mustard Greens, Dal Makhani and Garlc Naan. The greens were fresh and cooked to perfection, in no way overcooked and perfectly spiced. The Dal was also perfectly cooked and perfectly spiced. I can not remember Indian food that I enjoyed more. We were seated immediately and the Host took us to the Buffet Table and explained all of the very lovely looking Buffet dishes. We opted to have food from the menu.The restaurant was very clean and all of the staff were very attentive. We thoughoughly enjoyed our meal. We also ordered lamb vindaloo and veg samosas. All were delicious. My bf loves super spicy food so I asked for extra extra fire spicy. They labeled the ticket Indian spicy and the spice level delivered. The second visit we dined in and the experience was much different. I received extra hard gobi manchurian; I couldn't even chew it. When I told the waiter, he said that's how it's made. This was my entree so I sent it back and opted for aloo gobi which wasn't as bad. My bf's lamb vindaloo was not spicy at all. My family really enjoyed the food from here! We got it delivered through Doordash and everything was packed thoughtfully. We got the Nepali momo, paneer pakora, vegetable samosa, chicken 65, navrattan korma, naan, a side of rice, and rasmalai. They let you pick your spice level--I can't handle too much spice so most of the dishes were Medium, but my parents made their navrattan korma Hot. Medium was the perfect amount of spice. My parents loved their Hot dish, but it was way too spicy for me. The sauce that comes with the momo is so good, and chicken 65 was tasty. Samosas and pakoras were good, but didn't stand out compared to the other dishes. Rasmalai was great, but small. We wish there was more! Overall, great experience :) read more

Lovely! I'm doing my food happy dance, plus growling at almost every bite. The food was an absolute success with the flavors being very intense and very good. I requested American medium heat and these guys know what they are doing. I ordered the Goat Tikka Masala, and my husband had Chicken Madrash. Both were wonderful. We also had the vegetable samosas. We were offered additional rice, plus mint/tamarind condiments which we are not familiar with from other restaurants that was a nice plus. We ordered the Indian style food, and now that we were so impressed with that I am happy to order Nepalese, which I'm not familiar with at all, but would be comfortable ordering because the other food was so wonderful. read more

It's more like 3.5 so I'll be generous. Stuck in Baltimore for a couple of days with someone who also enjoys Indian food, we found this place here on Yelp. Twice we stopped by for the buffet for lunch. The first time was pretty good. We were there at opening and even though the food wasn't piping hot the flavors were good. Butter chicken was very good, but watch for stray bones. The second visit was a later lunch time and the food was well picked over. The shrimp curry was empty and replaced by a "fish" curry of an indiscernible fish type. The okra was over cooked and had no flavor, there were no poppadoms and only a couple of naan breads. They refilled the butter chicken which this time was bland and under-spiced. Go early. That's my only tip. It was all.. ok, but for $20 it needs to be much better. read more

My sister and I went in for lunch on Friday, August 5th. Not sure if we were the wrong color or because we were females but I will not go to this place again. We were greeted but when we sat down, the waiter did not ask if we wanted anything to drink. We were asked once if everything was good while eating. Getting ready to pay.....we had the lunch buffet, the cashier told us the total was $40.26. To me that was a bit pricey for lunch. ‍ Two minutes later I called to ask how much is the lunch special. The person on the phone said they had a buffet lunch special for $15.99 which was what we had and we did not have any drinks. We did not even get a thank you for coming or eye contact. The same person was chatting it up with all the other patrons in the restaurant. .Very disappointed in my experience and will take my business elsewhere. read more

I've had the chicken jalfrezi here multiple times. The portion size is good, but not huge, and the flavor is spot-on, with just a touch of heat for "Mild" dishes. Unfortunately, consistency is a little bit of an issue here. Today's order had less sauce & vegetables than usual, but considerably more chicken. There was no heat to it whatsoever this time. While some people would consider the milder flavor & extra chicken a plus, I get jalfrezi for the veggies, sauce, and heat. I guess I'll just get a medium-heat vegetable jalfrezi next time. Oddly, the Chicken 65 (which is very good, BTW) is in the appetizers section and doesn't come with rice. That means you'll need to spend an additional $5.99 to get what comes with every other entrée, which actually makes it more expensive than most. Most of the sides are a bit on the pricy side -- e.g. $5.99 for a side of jasmine rice, $3.99 for some raita or plain yogurt, and $2.99 for an onion salad. Aside from the overpriced sides & some questionable menu item placement & omissions, Royal Spice is still worth trying. read more
