Marlon was the most amazing tour guide ever! I've done many tours, and this was probably one of the best tour experiences ever. Marlon was funny, knowledgeable, patient, and welcoming. We did the Grand Circle Island and Haleiwa full day tour...I absolutely recommend it, especially if you don't have much time because it covers many of the most popular attractions in Oahu. The bus was also super comfortable with good AC and an immaculate bathroom in the back. If I could only choose one tour in Oahu this would be it. I hate to leave a bad review about businesses but hiring Royal Star severely messed up my wedding. They didn't drop off our guests at the agreed location, and our guests had to walk 10 extra minutes ACROSS a highway in a severe rain/lightning storm, in heels and suits! The day of the wedding it was a massive storm, wind was so strong it knocked over our wedding tables, the rain was pouring in buckets. The bus was 1.5 hours late (because of the rain and traffic, not their fault), and for some NONSENSICAL reason they didn't drop off our 60+ guests at the agreed location, but actually a 10 minute walk down the road, ACROSS Kamehameha highway. My mom was on the bus and tried to get the driver to go to the agreed upon location (my aunties and family were there to verify that), and the driver just stopped at the beach park parking lot and got off the bus (maybe to use the bathroom I don't know why he left the bus), so my mom tried to get him so he would come back to the bus and move it, but I guess he didn't hear her. So the guests just started walking to the wedding in the rain When we paid thousands of dollars just for this ride. I can't describe how embarrassing this situation was for us. I called Royal Star Hawaii to ask them what happened, and they said their bus driver says my mom requested the guests be dropped off at the beach park. This request makes no sense at all, but I believed Royal Star until I talked to my family and they all said that they witnessed the exact opposite of that. read more

Being stuck on a bus for 8+ hours might sound like a nightmare to some, but with Marlon as your guide you will have a fantastic time. We booked the Circle Island tour which took us to many key sights on Oahu. Our driver/guide Marlon was friendly, knowledgeable, and really shared the aloha spirit with us. He not only explained the sights, but he also shared the Hawaiian culture with us. He referred to our family as "ohana" and really made us feel at ease. The buses are comfortable, air conditioned and has a bathroom onboard. My only disappointment would be that I wish we had maybe an extra 1/2 hour in Haleiwa. Other than that, it was a great tour. Booked this tour through our hotel and what an amazing experience. Unfortunately for us I misunderstood what was included in the tour. When they said circle tour I thought we'd be stopping at various places allowed to explore around, but that was not the case. We did drive around and got facts about each place which was ok, but would've liked to get out and explore. The driver, Patrick, was awesome. He was filled with knowledge and history, and also jokes for days. The buss was comfortable and cool despite the hot summer days temperatures.when we got to the Pearl Harbor memorial he explained the tickets, where to go, and what to see (the movie before or after check in time). William Kalani was more than a bus driver. He was funny, informative, entertaining, and timely. I give him five stars for the Pearl Harbor package. I would also give him a 5 as a tour guide. Lots of great suggestions and local trivia. I also asked him for good places where locals would enjoy eating. He went 3 for 3 on his suggestions in Waikiki as we tried all 3 immediately after the tour: * Lillia Bakery did have the best Malasada. We had two. * He also recommended Piai for fish tacos. We loved it! * He also recommended the Lava Flow drink at Duke's. The drink was amazing! But now, I felt sick from all the over- eating and that Lava Flow drink. I thought about deducting half a point for feeling sick from the over-eating and drinking (warning: Lava Flow can mess you up). But my wife reminded me that he did warn us about the Lava Flow. So, I guess can't blame him for getting messed up tonight. Ok, I'll leave his rating at FIVE stars. read more

Took the 9 hour tour of the island last week. We were lucky enough to get Lola as our driver! (Also...Lola is the name of her bus.) She was more than a driver and tour guide... Went on a tour recently and left my sunglasses on the bus. They were found and left at main office which made it difficult to retrieve. Although I had another tour using same bus, manager would not allow driver/guide to return my property to me. I explained to them I had no transportation to retrieve them, manager would not release them to driver! Manager was not flexible or helpful at all. Very disappointing! Would not recommend using this tour bus company. I Suggest using Roberts Hawaiian Tours, heard good things about them. read more

Mahola, Larry Mantanona!! We used Royal Star for a Pearl Harbor & City Tour. I am going to be honest, the Pearl Harbor Tour (not done by Royal Star, they drop you off and get you set up with your ticket to go out to the memorial) was not the MOST amazing thing since the memorial was under construction and we couldn't actually walk onto the memorial. I will say that it was still super cool and worth the trip. However, the actual city tour and Larry's part in the tour was absolutely AMAZING. That was my favorite part of the whole thing! Larry was extremely knowledgeable about Oahu, being that he was born in the same hospital that Obama was born in! He taught me and my family so much, that we got to be tour guides for a couple of family members that chose not to do the tour for the rest of the trip. Did you know that Wai means water in Hawaiin? Neither did I! I am not kidding when I say we were spitting out facts the rest of the trip (credit to Larry of course)! I also can now (for the most part) pronounce the Hawaiian words around town. :) So happy we chose to do this tour, and I really think you should too! And request Larry if you can!! Hard to believe I've been a member this long to this great resource without actually contributing but, after our trip with Royal Star there was just no way I couldn't. As our family was planning a trip to Oahu, I searched for a tour that would cover the main points of interest on the island. I definitely wanted us to see Pearl Harbor, visit the North Shore for lunch and the Polynesian Cultral Center yet still be comfortable travelling with our young children as well as my parents. This was pretty ambitious and there didn't seem to be a single existing tour that fit the bill. While reviewing existing tour packages I noticed that there was a 'custom' tour option with Royal Star. So, I sent a note on a flyer that we might be able to charter a van within a reasonable price. To my delight, the next day I received a detailed quote with recommendations based on my very loose description. The whole front office staff was easy to work with and very responsive as we fine tuned the schedule. They even called the day ahead of our tour to confirm the details. For our day with them they paired us perfectly with "Uncle" Jerry who immediately made us feel welcome and taught us the true meaning of o'hana. Jerry did everything within his control to make our trip a special memory. From the extra care and consideration for my mother recovering from knee replacement surgery to taking the time to give our children a ukulele lesson. Jerry shared with us island hospitality and the aloha spirit. His impact was evident as we all had a hard time saying good-bye to Jerry at the end of the day. I can't say enough good things about Royal Star. It was clearly the highlight of our trip and would recommend to anyone visiting Oahu and looking for a unique island experience to contact them. read more

I recently got married on 8/7/16 at Kualoa Ranch. Since it was a destination wedding, we decided to charter a bus for our wedding guests from Waikiki to our wedding venue and back. From Waikiki to Kualoa Ranch was 45 minutes away and most of our guests were staying in Waikiki. Royal Star Hawaii was recommended to me by my wedding coordinator and I'm happy I decided to hire them. The bus arrived in a reasonable time giving my guests ample time to arrive and get situated. The bus seats were very comfortable. I love the purple and yellow colors in the bus gives it a vibrant look. We actually received an upgraded bus. I initially ordered a 55-seater Silver bus but instead got their Signature line 58-seater Gold bus with onboard restroom. They also provided a complimentary digital signage outside the bus 'Mia and Michael Wedding'. Now, that's awesome! I HIGHLY recommend Royal Star Hawaii for your bus transportation needs. We hired Royal Star to take our 57+ guests from three hotels in downtown Waikiki, to our wedding ceremony in Ko'Olina, then onto our reception in Hale Koa, then back to their respective drop off hotel locations at the conclusion of our reception. Being that this was a destination wedding for us, it was important to have my guests feel relaxed, not to have to worry about driving, parking, getting lost, or driving while intoxicated (which we all were, VERY! Lol). Royal Star came highly recommended through my wedding planner. I really liked that they had a bunch of fleets in different sizes to accommodate our budget. We chose the 57 passenger coach to get everyone to the ceremony from Waikiki and then later chose the smaller coach (around 20+ passengers) since it was making two trips (at different times) later in the evening to return guests back to their hotel. All my questions and concerns were handled in a very professional matter and the transaction was seamless. From the pictures and feedback from my guests, they really liked the coach. They mentioned it was very clean and in mint condition. The driver was polite and offered complimentary hand towels and mints. There was a bathroom on the bus, which was important for my friends who were drinking. The buses also have "very good A/C", as one of my guests described, as he is a very hot-temperatured man who loves him some A/C. It gave me peace of mind during my wedding that I didn't have to worry about lost guest or guest deciding to drive back to their hotels drunk. This extra expense during my wedding gave me peace of mind and ensured that everyone had a safe trip. From all the positive feedback from my guests on how much they liked the ride, I would definitely recommend Royal Star. read more
