Went there and picked up a carryout yesterday for the first time. I thought the food was very good and the portions were extremely large. I would definitely go back.

Came back for Round II and they didn't disappoint. Food was still great, place was still spotless, and service was even more friendly and professional than my first visit. One negative... there was a song playing on endless loop... I don't think they noticed... it should have pointed it out but it actually became a funny thing g my kids and I were making bets on if it would change or not. This place is definitely on our rotation list now.

A good friend lived in the area well over a decade ago and it has been that long since I've been in the neighborhood. I marveled at the changes, especially new residential construction along Beck Road. Royal Wall is tucked into a large strip mall, on Beck right before Pontiac Trail, going north. Planet Fitness serves as a marker if that helps. The restaurant has perhaps the best safety protocols I've encountered over this year of take-out, other than curbside, that is. Once you enter, you confirm your name, slip your card into the card machine behind a Plexiglass window, and your order is handed over to you in a drawer. I loved the ingenuity of this system. Now, on to the meal: The huge portion of tender Lemon Chicken was lightly-battered and crispy, served with an equally large portion of lemon sauce on the side. The subtle flavor was quite good. I like the Seafood Delight, shrimp, and "krab" meat in a Cantonese-styled sauce. The meal included fresh broccoli, firm baby corn, thinly-sliced carrots, and crunchy water chestnuts. Together, the meal was healthy and colorful. Lastly, I ordered the braised beef with tofu skin. This is my favorite Chinese dish; my dad makes it for me whenever I see my folks. Here, the meal is made with beef brisket, a tough and fatty meat (you've been warned) that is made tender through a long cooking process. It is braised in a flavorful sauce with tofu skin (my dad's version includes Shiitake mushrooms and dried chestnuts), well suited for those interested in different Chinese dishes. There was so much variety that I intend to return for tastes that don't typically appear on menus.

I been order lunch at these place for the last two days food is great and portions size is very good. Cashier are welcoming and fast checkout with online order. I have order there house speciality item which is the Orange Beef and the Braised Beef Brisket with Bean Curd. Don't forget replace the rice you get with and change to fried rice it will change the game.

It's very close to the former suburban showplace and located in a strip mall. There was availability in the shared parking lot. When we walked in, I was pleasantly surprised and impressed with the decor and layout of the restaurant. It was busy but only had to wait for a few minutes for them to get a table ready. There were seats at the bar which seemed like a good atmosphere if you chose to sit there. We sat by the window in a 4 top for just the 2 of us. My seat was comfy on a bench. There were many items on the menu that we wanted to try but asked our server for recommendations. My husband ordered wonton soup for appetizer and then Mongolian beef. I ordered the Thai basil chicken. We ate it all! Everything was flavorful and hot in temperature and served just at the right amount of pace. I also ordered the white flower cocktail, it was good and can't quite determine what part of it had a little kick to it! We ordered hot tea for our dessert, they certainly know how to make jasmine tea just right! Restrooms were clean and it's a cozy yet a little upscale vibe but not dressy. I was worried as I had my Star Wars t-shirt on but I layered with a sweater! We will definitely return as I'd like to splurge and try the Hong Kong short ribs!

After placing our order, the website said our food would be ready in about 15 minutes, but really, we ended up waiting for 30+ minutes for our food. So that's something we'll take into account the next time we order on a busy night. Otherwise, from the moment we walked in after 8pm, every table in this place was full, and all the employees were working hard to make sure people were taken care of. So it's only fair to give them some grace while we waited for our food. Otherwise, the servers made sure to let us know they were working on our order. Since we'd ordered take out, we ate at home, and the food made it seem worth the wait. This is not "cheaper = more food" Chinese food. This tasted like an authentically cooked meal with complex favors that rationalized the higher than expected prices. The next time we come, we might just look for a table inside the restaurant for a different experience, but we'll definitely be back to try more of their offerings!

Not Necessarily in a Good Way." So here's what happened. A good friend recommended the place. My wife, my buddy, and I made a special trip to visit Jeff's Kitchen. The chef, Mr. Xu, runs the place. Now this gentleman is a character. Every dish arrives personally escorted by Chef Xu himself. Back and forth. Back and forth. Marching around the dining room like he's inspecting troops. Face serious enough to negotiate a peace treaty. Not a smile in sight. Honestly, it was hilarious. Business was apparently booming. There were exactly four people in the restaurant: The three of us... and Chef Xu. A full house can be set on a mahjong table. We ordered: Shanghai soup dumplings Two orders of pan-fried pork buns Shanghai bok choy with mushrooms Chili chicken Crystal shrimp The Food Soup DumplingsActually quite good. Pan-Fried Pork BunsThese poor buns looked like they'd been through a divorce. If regular buns saw them, they'd laugh. If other pan-fried buns saw them, they'd cry. Bok Choy with MushroomsPerfectly acceptable. The culinary equivalent of "I'm just here so I won't get fined." Chili ChickenLooked like the chef spun a wheel and combined whatever ingredients it landed on. Unexpected. Confusing. Inspirational. Crystal ShrimpTo be fair, not bad. Credit where credit is due. Now guess the bill. Two meat dishes. One vegetable. Three dim sum items. After tip? $171.75 At that moment, several emotions visited me simultaneously. "Michelin-star prices for pan-fried buns?" "Did I accidentally finance somebody's retirement account?" "And why am I paying luxury rates to be glared at?" Then came the tipping adventure. My soft Shanghai heart tightened. My hand trembled. I wrote down: $170 Chef Xu immediately objected. "Only 15%? Why didn't you leave the full amount?" The tone. The expression. The disappointment. You would've thought I'd just informed him that the family business was being repossessed. At that point I figured: No service. No smile. Plenty of attitude. Probably not coming back. So I left one star. Lost the first star because the prices require venture-capital funding. Lost the second star because the customer service felt like a disciplinary hearing. Lost the third star because the food was wildly inconsistent. Lost the fourth star because I somehow traveled all the way to North America only to witness Shanghai people scamming other Shanghai people. That one hurt emotionally. I left one star out of courtesy. A humble request from one Shanghainese to another: Please don't embarrass Shanghai people in front of other Shanghai people. We're all on the same team. At least smile before presenting a $171.75 bill.
