This will be THE SPOT that I get every birthday cake (or any cake) for myself and others. I stopped here to get a sandwich on my birthday and decided I'd get a birthday cake for myself (personal size!) because they looked so good. I went with the key lime cake and it was THE BEST cake I have EVER had...no lie. Don't judge the photo too harshly, it flipped during the travel home. I also got a bagel turkey sandwich. Go hungry because portions are huge and everything is so delicious, fresh, and made to order. Bagel Sandwiches - I love a Turkey Sammy on a jalapeño cheddar bagel. I'd skip the egg on your breakfast sandwiches but go for a bacon or sausage and cheese. Bagels are great - you can't go wrong. Their roulette sandwich (Turkey, slaw, 1000 Island, cheese) is also so good and the panini is another favorite. You really can't go wrong with any of their sandwiches. The service is straightforward straightforward and friendly . Better to pick up than plan on dining in. Two or so little tables inside are better suited for a quick sit while you wait on your food. I had this place today for lunch, and my Italian sandwich was GREAT!!!!! The bread was fresh as well as the toppings. I added mayo to mine to take it over the top!! I had the Craps Sandwich: pastrami, Swiss, cole slaw, and Russian dressing on toasted marble rye. It was tasty but I would probably prefer just the pastrami and Russian. Cost about $10. To take out, we got: 4 plain bagels - good 1 large elephant ear (palmier) - excellent 3 large cookies - butter with sprinkles, marble, and Chinese almond. I had high hopes because they look like NY a bakery cookies, but alas were only pale imitations. The bakery items were around $5.50 , a very good price. I can only cheat on my diabetic diet once a year. This was one of those times. So, I just enjoyed the delightful smells. My wife and granddaughter said it was great. Since my wife is a repeat customer, she should know. And my wife is a cook with both great taste buds and a critical view on food. So, being a repeat customer says volumes. Service is great. They were out of a just about everything to make most of their sandwiches, which we were willing to excuse. The owner even gave us two little treats while we were trying to figure things out. Eventually, we settled on a veggie sandwich and a breakfast sandwich. My boyfriend said his sandwich was "Eh, okay, nothing special" but for some reason, I opened up my sandwich, which apparently had american cheese instead of the listed swiss and cheddar, and found a dead gnat inside. When that happened, my boyfriend said "I didn't think the place looked very clean." I really want to support a family run business, especially one that appears to make good sandwiches, but it's hard when the food is average and/or has a dead bug inside, and the place looks...unkempt....and they are out of a lot of products. An absolutely wonderful bakery that also provides big and also wonderful sandwiches. The pastries are highly unusual for the area. The owners had the same business in New York city and moved to West Virginia, so there are wonderful Italian pastries and cookies that you can not get anywhere close to there. The service is very good. Friendly people most of whom are real characters that make the visit entertaining as well. The staff had spunk and the options seemed endless. I ordered the a breakfast sandwich and the "wheel of fortune" sub. They were both okay. I prefer breakfast food so the breakfast sandwich I would order again. The "wheel of fortune" was a roast beef sandwich and just kind of bland. Pastries seem to steal the show. The display made you want to try one of each. I don't do sweets so can't attest to their taste, but the presentation was on point. Based on everything else in the area, I recommend this spot. The food is fresh and made to order. Can't say the same for your typical fast food joint. Also, there was a steady stream of customers so trust the locals! I grabbed breakfast here today on 6/9 around 9:30ish. Food was ok. I thought it was weird that the female workers boyfriend was camped out at a table and they were ummmm "canoodling" while the male worker made my food. The boyfriend wouldn't budge from the drink cooler and I had to wiggle in to select a beverage. I think that people are just so shorthanded that they hire the wrong people or they put them in rolls and then they don't tell them what is good judgment and what isn't. This place had awesome sandwich's and they are huge. Hey live these kinds of places small but really good. Whatever sandwich you got it's got plenty of meat and it will definitely fill you up. Must try the cookies and other pastries they are outstanding. This place is so good it get crowded really quick and the seating it outside which for me is a negative but the food is really good. Was really impressed with this place. Came here for lunch and got the pastrami sandwich (think it was call Craps). The sandwich was huge and full of flavor. I was stuffed and content the rest of the day. I did not get any of the desserts but they looked AMAZING. Regret not trying one of their cheesecakes or pies- will have to try at another point. Only complaint was the small space available to eat. The tables were fairly tiny so it was crammed with 3 of us eating. Look forward to going back. read more

Great sandwich, good coffee, delicious pastry and even better service. The service was great! Most cheerful people I've met to date in this area. They look like they enjoy their job and their time at work. Most people would have fled the environment because it seemed rowdy, but I felt like it was great and positive energy. When I went back to the counter to grab coffee and pastry, the lady behind the counter was energized to take my order again and while I and other customers waited (no more than 5 minutes) to pay, one of the other servers gave us a cookie on the house for patiently waiting. Like I said we didn't wait much but she thought their computers were taking too long and decided to generously reward our patience. My husband and I went here when we stayed at nearby B&B. What an amazing little shop with so many tasty goodies! The sandwiches were so good and huge! One sandwich was enough for two people. I got the pastrami and he got the club. Both great choices. And the desserts we bought a variety but the best one was the cannoli cake. Every time I have gone to Royalicious previously, the food has been great and the staff has been as well. Unfortunately, I can no longer go there because they have changed their hours multiple times and have shortened them quite drastically. The hours that are listed on this yelp page are completely wrong. The store used to be open 6AM to 8PM Monday through Saturday, and 6AM to 5PM on Sundays. Now, they are closed on Monday and Tuesday, and the rest of the week they are only open from 7AM to 3PM. That is a huge reduction is hours. They went from being open 95 hours per week to only being open 40 hours a week. They open too late for me to stop in before work, and close to early for me to stop in after so I've had to start going elsewhere. I don't know if the reduction in hours is due to Covid struggles or if the owners have spread themselves too thin after opening a second location, but I hope it is only temporary. I'd love to start going back to Royalicious, but with the hours they have now, it just isn't feasible for me. read more

When I first wrote a Yelp review of this place, I was fairly green to Yelp. But now I think it deserves a redo nearly 4 years in the making. Royalicious is an absolute favorite of mine. When I lived in Winchester, I stopped in about 1-2 times a week to stock up on bagels, pastries, and spreads. It's located right off U.S. 340, approximately 10 minutes south of Harpers Ferry, and super close to the interchange of Routes 9 and 51. They serve everything that somebody from New York and/or New Jersey would enjoy, from the voluminous bagel selection to the decadent pastries that they make. Everything is made fresh daily. The owners are the Constantinos, namely John and Cookie. They are Italian and Jewish, respectively, and their food reflects that. From the lox cream cheese, to the eclairs, to the rugelach, to the cannoli, it's like walking into Little Italy meets Borough Park (for you fellow New Yorkers, I'm sure you get the reference). It's always busy in here, whether it's 6 am or 4 pm, sometimes the line is out the door with customers. Unfortunately, in April 2015, Cookie passed away unexpectedly. I went back a few months after her passing and found that the place was in a bit of rut. The staff was a bit stressed out, looking exhausted at times, and the food seemed to lose its staying power, lacking the magic it once consistently possessed. But I believed that once they got through it, they'd "return to normalcy". Over a year later, it seems that they have overcome that hurdle. John has since remarried, and the staff seems to have regained the old pep in their step. The food once again carries the flavors and qualities of old. The raspberry horn, the elephant ears, the turnovers, all of it has regained the magic touch. And Jackie, one of John's daughters who helps out, is an absolute pleasure to see each time. She's cute and super adorable and goes out of her way to see that the customers are satisfied. It's because of this magic touch that I have pledged that I will make an attempt once a month to come out from Falls Church to stock up on their products. It's worth the hour drive. They treat you really well, and the food stays fresh in the car the entire time. The smell from the bagels drives me nuts when I get home because it is so good! I recommend this place to everyone. Try a bagel (take home a dozen!), take home a sandwich or pastry, or stop in for some coffee or cake. It's all fantastic. There's a reason that I went here as often as I did before I moved away in March 2015, and then continued to come back. Because when you've got something special like they do, it's quite hard to let it go. read more

This place is definitely the place to go for lunch. Their quality is evenly matched with their quantity. The sandwiches are great in taste and size. Many times I would eat one half for lunch & the other as a later snack or early dinner. If you have the time and go there often as I have try a different sandwich each time. Also, don't neglect their desserts. All are also great in size. My favorite part and yet a weakness is that they would many times have free samples for many other the varieties of cookies they offer. Next thing you know you're getting a box worth. They're always busy during lunch but service is quick. I usually just grab and go. I've been here a dozen times. You know how they say "the line is long, but it moves fast."? Well, that is not this place. They are pretty unorganized. In my latest visit, which is par for the course, it took 15 minutes to get a few bagels with cream cheese. They even took my order within 20 seconds of arrival, and the food came out of the kitchen within about 3 or so minutes. The rest of the time was spent waiting to pay. The staff was all very friendly, but running around without any system that I could see. The good news is that the food is really good. I wouldn't say awesome, but they would get a 4-start rating from me on the bagels. Not quite as good as Royal Bagel Bakery in Germantown, MD, but very solid quality. Note: Royal Bagel Bakery in Germantown is super efficient. Whenever I have enough time to stop, I do. I will absolutely continue to come here. I just wish they were faster. Having a single person assigned to the cashier position would be an excellent step in the right direction. Hopefully they read this review and try some things out.
